#Tallon IV moon, Chozo Ruins interior

It would be insane, metroid atmosphere was always creepy!
I woulf absolutely love this
YESSS. METROID 💜💜
Future ideas for different parts of Tallon may come later, but for now I just wanted to suggest the one area since I know it takes a lot of work (and copyright dodging).
Maybe places like Phendrana's Edge and Magmoor Caverns can be different interior options/spawns for the Tallon moon?
Ideally using LLL, since I can't get LECore to work for the life of me in multiplayer
Maybe. Would settle for one interior now though, they take a long while to make from the looks of it ^^'
Oh, absolutely. Baby steps xD
This is mostly fueled by nostalgia, so I don't really expect it to take hold
Just putting it out there
Chozo Ruins would work very well, since not only would it fit for you know, this moon, but also other moons like Assurance/Offense, E_Gypt, Etern etc :o
Seeing Magmoor Caverns on Infernis though? GOD YES PLEASE.
Phendrana for Auralis, or d'you reckon a separate moon?
Phendrana could be a moon by itself, though ngl? Wesley's Polarus could work VERY well as a Phendrana substitute
A Space Pirate themed interior would work well tho
Metroid would be such a teasure to Lethal Company tbh. Hopefully someone makes a content mod for it at some point with a bunch of new things like scraps, suits upgrades, enemies etc
It'd be funny if I kickstarted the next big project
But well, gotta watch out for Nintendo, especially since LC is very very popular. The Ninjis will take our heads
Maybe they will, maybe not? It's hard to tell what they'll go after
They shut down a fangame bc they were making their own reboot (and conveniently not telling anyone), but they seem to allow modded material in some games (Skyrim, etc) so idk?
Kind of a cross between facility and bunker in terms of design, maybe the enemies (if any are included) function a bit like reskinned Bracken?
Hmm..
Was honestly thinking of a very open space pirate interior that has the chance of like, spawning Ridley to chase you
Consider
Elemental shotgun rounds, especially combined with Better Shotgun for the ammo
That, or a separate arm cannon tie-in
Yeah, faster in both movement and shooting, which would almost mandate something with lots of ammo in order to deal with them
Basic Pirates, or stuff like Shadow Troopers too?
Would say just base pirates. They could be pretty simple tbh, patrolling the area, and practically being Nutcrackers that can see people at all times
While they're average enemies in Metroid, they would be VERY hard enemies to deal with in LC Masa feels like
Yeah, cuz LC doesn't have as much freedom of movement and isn't built around offensive capabilities
Would definitely say that entities from Metroid should moreso be revolving around the creatures and the Metroids
And like.. somehow Ridley.
(We need Ridley)
Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen proper "boss" enemies in LC, so maybe Ridley would be the first? There's a special room in the middle of the facility (roughly), and it's always locked. Once you open it, Ridley (if it's based on Prime, then Meta Ridley) will spawn, along with various forms of cover
Mans even has his own background theme
And that's just for the Pirate base interior. Maybe the Chozo Ruins would have ghosts or Flaahgra?
Perhaps something in the interior that serves like a apparatus could be around yeah, which could trigger Ridley to spawn
Not the actual apparatus ofc, because you dont wanna clash with FacilityMeltdown
Flaahgra could be like a guaranteed entity spawn in a big room yeah, which could be trying to kill you while you could maybe try and go for scraps in the room.
Most of the gameplay likely wouldnt be about killing the giant entities, so that should be a lategame mindset. Masa would even argue that Ridley could be unkillable, but Flaahgra could be pacified
Maybe it uses a similar mechanic to Prime with the mirrors? Only here you have to press buttons under them to get them to shine on Flaahgra, and you can't exactly bomb it in the meantime, so it's like a temporary breather
As for Ridley... Maybe taking enough damage just sends him into a stun? Depending on how he acts and what offensive moveset he has, there has to be some way to counter him
Huh? Which of the words was a slur? Did Masa typo something? .-. (A message explaining behaviors was blocked)
augh
ITs not too long..
We love overly strict filters-
Maul
Might've been a typo?
Nope, got it right here
..Sorry if one of the words were offensive Masa guesses? ;w; But Masa sees nothing wrong in the text
I don't see anything wrong either
If the filter is anything like Genshin, I'm willing to bet one of the letter groups could technically theoretically stand for something feisty somewhere, and so it got blocked
It's really obnoxious when that happens
Dead by Daylight has the same filtering issue yeah, so Masa understands what you mean
One time you say joe and its good, other time you say joe and its bad
Crying
But yeah, looking at some of those moves, I almost have to wonder about a separate movement mod for players (ground slide) to avoid attacks
Masa would assume those moves to be choreographed like any other boss. So basically stand still -> trigger interaction
Distance-related? Fire breath for range, or maybe depending on if someone is running straight away instead of zigzagging
Likely, yes, though they'd all likely be the same range unless you want to go for the Mario fireballs goofy ahh Ridley fire
Not unless we're going for Zero Mission Ridley as a joke xD
omg, a singular fire shot would be awesome though actually
Not like a bouncy fireball, but moreso like a singular missile
ESPECIALLY if its Meta Ridley
Bombing run? Laser breath? Missile barrage?
Ohhh. Okay
Interactions while flying
- Laser beam focused downwards while 'carpet bombing'
- Swoop in to grab a player (doesnt not home in on movement; swoops down, continues forward even if missing)
- Swoop down, follow target for a few flaps then stab with tail
- Land down; engage ground interactions
Interactions while grounded
- Charge up laser shot; act like turret. Stays in this mode for 5 seconds before shooting anyways
- Take 2 seconds (roar), then dash forwards to player (doesnt home) like Eyeless Dog. Player caught? Slide player across ground for 2 seconds
- Stand still for 3 seconds (roar & target focus), target player then stab with tail to skewer
- Flap wings to go up to the sky and shoot 4 slow traveling missiles that fly towards current location of player (doesnt home; explodes like landmine)
^ How does that sound?
I think whoever animates it is never going to sleep again, but it sounds cool
There's a lot of ranged and fast options, so what kind of countermeasures would there be?
There would likely have to be a different Ridley entity with different behaviors in the interior tho, like where Ridley could maybe swoop down at certain parts of the area as a trigger event hazard rather than a constantly following entity, Ridley can only swoop down if player is at a certain area, and Ridley can only spawn outside if a player inside reaches the main entrance room
Outdoor Meta Ridley spawn at 5PM, indoor Meta Ridley spawn after taking a specific item. Outdoor has more ranged, indoor has more melee (wall crawl?)
Like a traditional boss, really. Figure out the pattern and animations for what triggers what, then dodge in the following way. It would be very movement based. Though another counter that could maybe shut down the attack is a Zap Gun or if Ridley is theoretically dealt 4 damage
Explained the damage that way so modded weapons can also stun Ridley
Maybe there's a built-in arena countermeasure for him like the Flaahgra idea, only instead of mirrors it's activatable turrets? And they have their own form of damage to him, like a semi-cinematic stun
Nah, that isn't necessary, Masa feels like. Ridley would work well as a very dangerous threat that can be stunned with your own resources. Or else it would never encourage players to buy certain items and make certain set ups to countermeasure the dangers of the moon.
Besides, dodging Ridley's patterned attacks would feel like a THRILL if you succeed in doing so
I almost wanna recommend it with Advanced Company, but anytime you have big, advanced mods depending on each other stuff tends to go wrong more easily
Yeah, Masa doesnt feel like it has to depend on something like AdvancedCompany. Giving Ridley patterns honestly would make Ridley more forgiving than Fiend/Ghost Girl/Jester. Especially if you give Outdoor Ridley a aggro-when-spotting mechanic rather than a immediate aggro once a player is at the surface
Implementing the behaviors to be able to work along with items from other mods rather than specifying vanilla item requirements would make the magic itself Masa would feel like, but Masa can't confirm if thats even possible or if that is how coding works lol. Does make sense though to apply 'Stun property = Stun Ridley' or '<num> amount of dmg = stun ridley'
And then 'while stunned = cannot stun for <num> amount of seconds' so people can't stunlock shovel him xD
Could imagine someone doing that if that wasnt taken into account
Just one guy spamming shovel on Ridley screaming at their teammates to head to the ship
Stun length? I have a short sequence of attacks in mind where it starts out ranged, closes in, then gives you a small opening to attack him in. After he leaves stun, he can resume the offensive, against the original target or a new one if they're present
Perhaps stun length could be 3 seconds for normal stun, then immunity duration could after could be a single forced ground interaction, in which Ridley becomes vulnerable right after?
So basically, rather than closing distance on you after the 3 seconds, it will force an attack that also makes Ridley stationary of <X> amount of time depending on the interaction
Yeah, as long as there's a grace window, it makes it come together better as a proper encounter
Mhm!
Also the BGM should be configurable, with Meta Ridley's theme as the original
You could switch it out with anything you want in mp3 format, either his theme or any of his other themes or blasted California Girls
Yuh. Make it configurable like FacilityMeltdown/PizzaTowerEscapeMusic
Incase someone wants like, Omega Ridley instead, or Ridley-X, Mystery Creature, Samus Returns Ridley etc etc
So that's Chozo Ruins/Pirate facility boss encounters
What about specific loot?
Perhaps the Flaahgra loot could be extra scraps for more value at the cost of well, dealing with Flaahgra
But the Ridley specific loot could maybe be a item that once put in the terminal, accesses data on parts of Samus' Suit for upgrades?
Deal with Flaahgra = reach quota better
Deal with Ridley = become Samus
Maybe some plant-related drops, or samples of the water it grows in that sell for more? Chozo tablets?
Yeah, getting logbook entries from Ridley would be interesting, though if it was also about getting armorsuit pieces, that could be a good tie-in for things like reserved gear/weapon slots
Imagine getting ahold of power armor that weighs a bunch, but boosts movement and carrying capacity to counterbalance itself
Simple upgrades like a Shield, A second health bar, A 'screw attack' to ward off the centipede/peeper/demogorgon/Bracken(if you have timing) & possibly also metroids. or perhaps even more advanced upgrades like limited morphball, dashing, gravity boots or a energy based arm cannon
Would screw attack be limited ala Prime 3, or unlimited ala basically any 2D Metroid?
Could be an alternative to the jetpack
Limited, just so it doesnt just cancel out any threats attempting to grab you permanently
Oh, maybe
Could also either go for Zero Suit upgrades or Varia Suit upgrades
Then later when, dunno, Phaaze becomes a thing, you could go for Phazon Suit upgrades
Err, no, PED Suit would be cooler actually
Maybe have different versions of the suits available for cosmetic reasons? For instance minimum or maximum corruption levels for the PED suit, and the basic varia/gravity/phazon suit variants from Prime 1
I think the perfect mix would be if the Phazon Suit had blue highlights instead of red, but that would be purely optional; moreso because it doesn't show up in the base game
If we're bringing Prime 3 to the mix, though, do we consider biomes from it and Prime 2?
Dark Aether could be like a permanently eclipsed sort of deal, though purely with modded enemies so you don't get swamped with nigh-unkillable dogs and giants the second you land. Skytown/Elysia, with passive maintenance bots?
Thatd be cool. Have like, Samus suit versions of the employee suit maybe? Maybe each upgrade shows a cosmetic part of that upgrade
Zero Suit could work well as a coloration for the classic suit
Though maybe the suit only follows the model, but not the color, with the exception of lights & corruptions
So if you have a mario suit on, the suit cosmetic still paints it similar to the suit you are wearing
So it'd be more like a layer effect than an actual suit?
But if you wear the Zero Suit, it will do its original colors
That'd be the most base-game friendly
Yeah
What Masa is saying tho is
Get a upgrade = get a cosmetic part on your body
And with all upgrades done, you are fully dripped out as the Varia Suit
So would that mean each version of Samus' suit has its own associated upgrades?
Parts?
That could be yes. Which could maybe also mean that you can mish mash the suits
Parts of Varia, parts of PED, parts of Fusion
Speaking of Fusion
Suit cosmetics/upgrades as a bonus, or would that come with a Fusion-based map/interior? I don't know if anyone has already come up with any Fusion modeled environments, so if there aren't any already, that would be even more work
Nope. The only Metroid related mods we have so far is FacilityMeltdown escape music & 3 Samus skins (2 ZSS models & 1 suit recolor to Varia)
This gonna be a taaaaallll order xD
People already forgot the badass space bounty hunter smh
We have Doomguy & Chief but not Samus' Varia Suit as model
Nintendo didn't really help with that lbr
Relegated her to a fighting game and let the series chill for a decade
True. Dread was a banger tho
That it was
Maybe its environment could also be more directly used, along with the X
The few Metroid fans left are now waiting for Prime 4 tbh
Yee definitely
One at a time tho
Would say Prime -> Fusion -> Corruption -> Dread
Could it be (and I doubt it's a big reason, but it is a hypothesis) because Samus' suit isn't very gender neutral by default? Neither is Doomguy's tbh, but with the Varia suit there's a lot less ambiguity regarding the player models
Modern Samus is feminine but older versions (especially the classic Varia) is gender neutral
That was the whole point of her suit at first
Yeah, to keep the mystery
But since the mystery faded, they showed the feminine shapes of the suit more and more
Though for this mod idea, the suits would model more around the Employee
So there'd be less conflict
Mhm. Its supposed to upgrade the Employee, not turn the Employee into Samus basically
I have been fully enlightened
It seems like I still managed to misunderstand part of what you said earlier, I just thought of the individual components making the full suit ^^;
This works better
You are learning how to harness her suits and upgrades to survive against her rivals, you are not Samus.
Or atleast, thst would be the foundation of the idea. People can still do whatever and mod the mod or have their own headcanons on it
That's fair
I like making headcanons and worldbuilding, so we could say it's reverse engineering Chozo tech
Exactly!
This is how Masa would treat it atleast.
Gonna make a list real quick of the different suit upgrades
LC uses lbs for weight right?
Yeah, though I frequently find myself wondering about the accuracy
I'm pretty sure an irl shovel doesn't weigh only 8 lbs, and I'm doubly sure that a ring doesn't weigh 16
Probably not, but its probably not supposed to be overly realistic
Varia Suit
- Chestplate: Energy Core (+8lbs)
You can now hold energy tanks, which can increase your health.
You take 12% less damage.
- Shoulderpads: Power Bombs (+3lbs)
Grants Morph Ball bombs more power (if you have morph bombs), turning detonations into the equivalent of a landmine explosion. Can bust open locked doors & security doors with a power bomb. Spends 30 energy.
You take 2% less damage.
- Legplates: Speed Booster (+3lbs)
Grants you 10% higher jump, and 25% more stamina.
After sprinting for 3 seconds, your speed increases by 50%.
You take 2% less damage.
- Varia Cannon: Charge Beam (+3 lbs)
The Varia suit's arm cannon can charge energy to unleash one projectile that does 2 damage. The charge beam has 5 charges. You can not fire projectiles while your inventory is full, if you are morphed into a ball, or if you are holding onto a two handed item.
- Head: X-RAY SCOPE (+3lbs)
You can scan items through walls now.
Your HUD has changed and gives you a minimap that shows items for 1 second everytime you scan and its in range.
You take 4% less damage.
How's this?
Also, had the idea that you can only turn into a morph ball once you have a full suit on
(That isnt the Zero Suit)
Every suit would have its own way to fire, but the special beams like ice beam and stuff could either be limited supplies you can put in your arm cannon, or upgrades you can get after maybe beating a certain enemy (Maybe the hunters from Metroid Prime Hunters)
Speaking of the Hunters
Had a idea that there could be a low chance you are getting hunted by one of the Bounty Hunters from Metroid Prime Hunters, or Ridley. But the only way to know you are being hunted is by installing a Ship Tracker upgrade on your ship so you can identify the different ships, or well, Ridley himself
Definitely want to treat Ridley like the BBEG of the mod
Looking pretty solid, the only suggestion I have is that the speed booster might actually do with a more nuanced momentum system, kinda like Thumpers and jetpacks. You gain more speed the longer you sprint, and you can jump higher, either at the cost of potentially bug-windshielding yourself against a wall or a steady loss of Energy the longer you maintain the sprint. Maybe have it also that Energy tanks can act like medkits when you pick them up? They'd have to be rare spawns to compensate, and reliant on discovering the tech first.
Masa can do with the momentum yeah. Perhaps bonking against a wall with full suit doesnt do damage, but if you do it without a full suit, you take like 50 damage
I kinda wanna include the Hunters because they only showed up once, but they're kinda niche since they only ever showed up in one spinoff. Well... And Prime 3 if you're counting those three. Ridley is definitely a focus- what about Dark Samus, or the Emperor Ing?
Dark Samus and Emperor should stay in the background tbh. Though Dark Samus CAN exist in a way..
The final bosses can chill, but their underlings could be present
So Metroids, the Ing & Phazon
Though, Dark Samus COULD exist in a way. Just not as Dark Samus
More like uhh.. Dark Employee, lol
Costume or NPC with Masked AI?
The Hunters should 100% make their appearance in the mod. though Masa will say that their upgrades should maybe not be permanent, to keep the quota grind up.
NPC
You could get fully Corrupted by too much Phazon exposure, or by overusing the PED Suit's powers
This be giving me ideas for an alternate game mode in bigger lobbies
It's like Halo's zombie custom game, but with Masked and/or Corrupted players
I think I will :3
Maybe we bring over bgm that play at different times of day? Like, for the Tallon moon, it starts with the landing theme from Prime 1, but then when it hits noon it switches to the overworld theme?
Should be possible. Wesley's Infernis has music, and also Kastra & the Super Mario Galaxy map
So the main proposal would be..
Looks like a couple of people beat me to the general idea, I went and gave them some reactions to try to boost
Moons
- Tallon IV: Tallon Overworld
- Tallon IV: Phendrana Drifts
Interiors
- Chozo Ruins
- Space Pirate
Entities
- Space Pirate
- Flaahgra
- Kanden
- Spire
- Noxus
- Sylus
- Tracer
- Weavel
- Ridley
- Corrupted Employees

Shop Items/Upgrades
- Varia Suit parts
- Fusion Suit parts
- PED Suits parts
(All suits have 5 parts: Chest, Shoulderpads, Legs, Arm Cannon, Helmet) - Energy Tank

- Chozo Tech Logs (Spawns Ridley)
- Flaahgra Scraps
Extras
- BGM for Tallon IV
- BGM for Ridley encounter
- Bounty Hunter/Ridley Ambush
- Phazon Infection
^ Missing anything?
If we're considering Prime 2/3 biomes and Magmoor or ice caves as a separate pack, then I'd say you've got everything covered for this one :3
Magmoor Caverns could be a cool interior, though Masa would rather go for like, Phaaze for its uniqueness
Moon/interior combo pack?
Hm?
