ive noticed apparatus rage and flashlight stun doesn't exactly work as intended ever since v50 and beyond, apparatus rage not triggering at all and flashlight stun being somewhat inconsistent
I know there was also I problem with Flashlight Slot
true that could be a cause
but even without it, it was a bit inconsistent
sometimes it was easy to accidently flash him at an awkward angle that made 0 sense and a majority of other times i couldn't do it no matter how hard i tried
i was maybe hoping there would be a fix for apparatus rage/flashlight stun before updates from rolevote entirely ceased, as those features doesn't really work currently

even weirder is what happened after, partially relates to flashlight stun being rather finnicky/specific or rarely happening, then the one with the apparatus light stops aggro'ing all together except melee range
had to spawn a fresh fiend to test

i like the idea of the fiend being this "what the fuck is that" that slowly approaches you and lets you figure out what it is for a short amount of time before jumping right at you
also this is actually so fucking sick
yeah i get that but as to how long it took me generally to stun a fresh one is what i was highlighting, possibly making the stun hitbox bigger as a solution

cause if he just walks in your light his eyes have adjusted to the light
while if you turn it on on him he hasnt gotten the chance to adjust so he is stunned
normal flashlight stuns him for like a second while pro for a bit longer
while of course who the hell is going to be adjusted to a flashbang

Yeah, despite the cut content, I say the mod has turned out quite well. He has counterplay and he's still terrifying with the door breaking and the cieling hanging
i think he'd work well if he was just a rare chance encounter that is solo
small chance that once you land the facility is just eerily quiet

For Greed he can potentially be like a loot bug and take scrap from your pile and if caught in the act, he'll run away. The trade off being that taking his loot will trigger a lootbug horde and himself to attack you on sight

threatens you for an item and then dips with it
How about one that puts the player in an hypnotic state, forcing the player to approach the creature and then eating their heads like a female mantis. The counter being a player with like an air horn or something with loud noises

though despite my crazy brainstorming on the previous ideas, i think he should have his abilities be cycled through depending on moon difficulty.
he starts with his usual door breaking, light flicker, and breaker box destruction on D and C threat levels, then he gets his ability to hide and silent walk (dog pose) on B and A, gains the ability to go invisible and apparatus rage on S and S+
these are additive, so he gets more and more abilities the higher the moon difficulty
moon threat scaling
now that moonsneer dev is dead, aubarino is pretty much on permanent hiatus and alot of other guys are gone i think rolevote might be able to climb the corpses and show the lc modding world what peak looks like again

Really nice to see that stunning is able to defeat this guy now. At the same time, I have a few suggestions for it:
With the Zap gun I feel like it would be interesting to have to hold it on him for a certain amount of time to kill him instead of being instant. Like this old depreciated mod that would kill a giant if you kept the beam on it for a certain amount of time. Ideally, if this was added for Fiend, it would be configurable how long you need to hold the beam for.

Secondly, Would be neat to have a config to up the amount of flashbangs required to kill. I have no issue with it just being one grenade to kill, but if it's no harm to implement, I'd personally set it to two or three.

It was so creepy! It was like he was sleeping on the ceiling! I saw it and question it then decided nah I don't wanna be around for any of my answers.
The sloth fiend should be taller and roam around the facility slowly and sometimes sitting in hallway not letting people go throught blocking the way killing them if they get too close.
I think the look should be higher and with longer arms and legs also is hunched over with a blue face. Thats my idea for him.

so I finally met the Fiend after his update and sadly he is bugged for me. I am playing multiplayer and when my friend encountered the Fiend I got the fear effect as well despite being far away from them. Also I could not stun the Fiend with my pro flashlight sadly
not sure if other people have these issues as well
also spawn weight was 9999 default for me in the config right after fresh download
fiend is rather difficult to stun due to his face hitbox and time it takes to do so

also fiend usually spawns either very early way into the facility where it takes a while for him to reach you or around late noon

now he just long legs with his arms to his side

the walk for some reason just doesn't look like it used to

but it made it awkward to the point where itd just hug you for a few secs so i think he changed it to be less forgiving

It seems the author stopped maintaining this mod since they posted a message indicating they were stepping away
Iโm not sure if itโs the best solution, but what you could consider is creating a mod that depends on this one and patches it by adding the changes you want
This way, you donโt have to start everything from scratch and, from my perspective (I don't know if everyone feels the same way), itโs also more beneficial for the original author since their mod will still be used through yours

the only issue was it was too powerful it was basically guranteed you would die if you encountered it back then

it isn't a slop character either, it's ai is good at hiding and it has features no other "slop" enemy has

so that was a saving grace
then the enrage on apparatus mechanic broke past v45 into v47 and v50, which inadvertently lowered his threat level
he shines in custom interiors as well
I think what saved the fiend was the stun grenade counterplay
I think that's a cool addition to the enemy

idk i just want SOMEONE to make sure that the Fiend doesn't die off. It may have somehow survived V70's update, but it won't last long, and this is my favorite enemy of all time. I don't want to see this guy fall into the realm of deprecation, I've had far too many funny moments with him.

Sadly im here to mention The Fiend has not survived the v70 update. During lobby after he killed players he broke them and they were stuck unable to look around as if perma stuck in the forced to look at me mechanic from the fiends jump scare part of his attack.

it was never entirely fixed
it fixes itself if you restart the lobby
Yeah sadly not optimal for large lobbies/streams. If the only fix solution is restart the lobby and its fine then best disabled until hopefully fixed. Especially if a mod pack has ways to revive players then the day is just ruined for those players. I know Beef was trying to find someone new to take over. Hopefully it happens cause I did like this mod.

The revive stuff we have works amazing. Typically if something breaks with it, its the other mod breaking and the player is broken whether they revive or not.
Plus I know the two devs who've worked on the two revive methods we have and they are very reliable.

BTW @karmic plank gotta say love the Boom Birds addition. I went back to vanilla ship in our last lobby forgetting about them damn things and my god was it a whole different experience. A whole new level of fear having to run outside in the night to shut them up and stop then from messing with my ship while having giants emerge from the night to just pluck me off the top of the ship ๐ never realized how much of a game changer the other ships where. I think im a keep vanilla ship a bit longer.

I know. But sometimes I just dont care to go after them. You have more room to dodge and hide from threats with wider ship if enemies come. And wider ship you are safe from giants on top so its not as scary to clear them out. I was legit terrified to go outside and clear them off the little ship ๐
And the little ship its not easy to avoid dogs if they come running straight in if the bird screws with the door lol ๐

I absolutely loved the concept when I first saw micbirds. I remember hearing it was moving to biodiversity.

if someone were to do a remake i feel like a good mechanic would be kinda like Orange from rainbow friends where he runs along a set path with a trail and noise, starting at a wall somewhere and stoppable along his path with a shovel, flashbang, and zap gun. if he ran by, he'd slash you and deal 30 damage. if he was hit by a weapon/tool like the ones listed, he would vanish in a cloud of smoke, his routine delayed by a certain length of time depending on the weapon/tool used (shovel 1 minute, flashbang/zapgun 2.5 minutes, etc.)
personally i think the "That which you feared has manifested." (death quote from r&r) theme in the original game could be explored heavily here
if I do want to adapt it I'll probably 1. heavily change its looks and steer it away from being a reference enemy while maintaining the feel and maybe some nods to the original material and 2. rework the mechanics heavily, with a big focus on it being hyper aggressive, just not as overwhelming as it was initially thought to be.
original game also seems to imply that if youre not actively trying to check to see if its there it wont exactly hurt you (closing your eyes and not opening them to check if its there)
could be a good thought exercise for when I get freed up from college responsibilities, but for the time being im super busy already

if there's one thing i don't particularly like about v60+ fiend is that his walk animation somehow looks even goofier without his arms at least moving to a degree
same with his legs being less animated
i remember in v50 feeling that dread of hearing that stomp every second practically when he was nearby
now its just him swingin his legs with a stomp sound every 2-3 seconds
using the insanity level as a basis would be cool
cause it gradually goes up the longer you stay in the facility
then falls back down outside of it
not sure how we would do so however
besides just making him go after players who have more insanity value than others

but v60 gave him the flashbang death and attack damage thing
which was the final nail in the coffin for 'balance issues'

well, the problem is within poltergeist/spectating
it freezes up the camera on occasion
well, ok, so what's happening is that The Fiend is forcing the camera position. When it does this, poltergeist doesn't know how to exactly fix this and it becomes impossible to move the camera. Because of how glitch's modpack was built, this presented the obvious fact that he couldn't stay, and neither could poltergeist.
So, while The Fiend is technically the cause of the issue, Poltergeist also played a part in forcing in a spectation mode thatthe game does not understand all too well and Code Rebith's revival mechanic carried over the problem.
i dont use poltergeist and i disable alot of coderebirth's stuff to fit my modpack theme so seems like hes good
for me atleast
CodeRebirth's revive stuff shouldnt have problems with it, idk why that was even mentioned
well it's not a problem, it's that the game didn't expect the player to be revived mid-round so the fiend's camera messup stayed put
not like code rebirth caused it anyway
because code rebirth is awesome and so bug free

First thing that comes to mind is making Fiend work like The Robe in REPO. Following at a slow pace when not viewed but speed up when looked at. I feel like that would lean into its purpose in its original game.
