TBH I'm not an EDM fan. It just doesn't have enough variance and demonstrable music design skill to really get into it. I can't help but think about the work that goes into things. It's one of the large reasons I like open source so much: I don't have the skill myself, but I can clearly see the skill and passion behind it. Metal is similar as it's nearly always capable of being performed live, and it takes an immense amount of skill to do large parts of it

over 19 minute song with multiple singers, multiple interludes and time signature shifts, no autotune nor any voice effects, and multiple different, dynamic percussive beats. can and has been played live

Gotcha, it looks like it was made with a DLL so I’m not sure why there is a conflict between our mods especially since LR doesn’t touch the jester windup sound

I could potentially make my mod load after CustomSounds just to make sure, but I don't know if that's the problem to begin with
Personally I play with CustomSounds anyways, and it has been working, granted I haven't updated my mod list for a while
This conversation is really over my head unfortunately, I don’t know C# or Unity at all
To explain simply, I override the popGoesTheWeaselTheme and screamingSFX fields for JesterAI class with my own audio (Getting the AudioClip from LCSoundTool), meaning that unless someone does the same after my mod is loaded, it should not be a problem.
I don't really know the working of CustomSounds, though I'd assume that internally they do similar stuff, just with sound files
One thing that could be a problem (If this issue has only been occuring for one person) is my mods config file, since it allows to disable the windup and scream, as well as change volume of it
I have a sound replacement for the jesterscream and I figured you probably replaced both starting the scream where the wind up leaves off, however if that was the case I would expect freebird to be cutoff after the windup by the scream

Still, could use a bit more time to cook up a perfect one, best recommendation I have is make a bunch of sounds, then give them to people to listen to on loop with 1 second pause inbetween, for 5-10 minutes. If they still are good with the sound, that's the one
I just joined here recently, but if there are so many complaints couldn't there just be a config to enable/disable certain key SFX? Approaching audio overhauls more modularly rather than it being all or nothing would allow players to pick and choose what sounds to keep. Or is there something keeping that from being possible like file size stuffs?
It's quite a bit more complex than that, and that would be on CustomSounds mod to implement, I think.
If someone really wants to replace a sound, they can just go into the lethal resonance folder and replace the sounds manually, though.

The only other solution is to somehow modularly split it into categorical install packs, but not only would that still be somewhat complex, it also would make people upset that their mod lists balloon 20+ extra mods just for sound files.

That´s great to hear and the first sounds that spring to mind are the ship land/taking of and coil heads(especially when they spam walk and stop)

The only problem I really have with this mod is the whispers like "heeellpp meee.." are really immersion breaking because non of us get scared and just kinda cringe at them(unlike when a thumper comes around 😣 )

if they changed sound variant chances from a percentage system to a weight system then you could have multiple mods with the same sounds and the weights get all added together when determining chance of each variant playing

If not, then there's an easy solution: make the feedback text field mandatory if it's a downvote. Fallout mod archive. It's a Bethesda style mod installation which let's you pick different options and patches when installing a mod
So with there's multiple variants of textures, models, or sounds you would get your preferred choice between them
Mostly recommending it as a joke, but on second thought... If you include alternative sounds in a different folder, and had a simple script to replace them, you could do it through a config file 🤔
It's what a FOMOD does after all, just during installation.
Not on installation, but if you did it right you could have it changeable post-installation.

Like have a folder next to the customsounds one, like "variantsounds", then have the sounds named like scan-1, scan-2, etc and have a dll connected to a config that can automate deleting the correct sound, copy the desired one into its spot, then rename it at game launch.
Best way to make it work is have a True/false flag that sets itself to false at end of the script, and have it not run if it launches at false. Give it the useless machine treatment.

Try lethalquantities. It has a high learning curve, but is very powerful and works on nearly any modded moon
(except Aridion, that moon has a broken file structure)
