LR use CustomSounds, which turn HideManagerGameObject on True on Bepinex.cfg, which create many errors/incompatibility with a bunch of mod
so safeway is to just dont use CustomSound, which mean no Lethal resonance :x

i'll repeat again the probleme is not caused by Lethal resonance, its caused by CustomSounds mod, which turn HideManagerGameObject on true, then this cause compatibility issue with a many mods and some sneaky probleme
like huntdown or some LLL issue, which doesnt appear when HideManagerGameObject is on false
not game breaking tho, but still errors

"had to be increased" does not mean that clipping should happen though
The vanilla sound of the stunflowerman is very low, increasing the volume balanced the things
im not sure if you're defending the audio sounding like shit because it's been cranked up to 11

also, in general you could make the rest of the game quieter overall (make all files just a tad bit quieter), but the specific sounds you want loud, you would not reduce the volume of.

I would love to be able to modify it, but I already tried programming in C# once and I couldn't even take the first step without making my computer turn into garbage.
besides, making all sounds quieter wouldn't mesh well, at least without doing a full sound conversion. things like footsteps, scrap sounds, dropping and whatnot aren't touched yet/cannot be touched due to LCST bugs, so you'd just end up with a game that's completely unbalanced
That's why we rely on the basic metods
enemies sounding too quiet but your own footsteps being insanely loud and whatnot
from what i see, "making the audio sound like shit because it's cranked up to 11" is realistically the only way to end up with a higher ingame volume for the soundclips
a really unfortunate trade-off, but nothing that can't be changed in the future, provided the tools needed to avoid these workarounds are available

VaM automatically loads a DLL together with the AssetBundle, as long as it's in the same folder and has the same filename.
You can create such DLL with Unity Editor:
Create your script(s) in Unity.
If you haven't already move all script you want in the DLL into a folder (can also have subfolders)
Right click in Project window: Create => Assembly Definition. Give it the same name as your AssetBundle will be named.
Open your project solution in Visual Studio, e.g. via Assets => Open C# Project
The Assembly Definition will appear as a "project" in your solution. Right click it and "Build"
The DLL will appear (among a lot of other files) in Temp\bin\Debug of your Unity project. Could also be Temp\bin\Release, if you build in Release mode.
Create a Prefab that uses one (or more) of your scripts
Put the prefab into an AssetBundle as usual.
Rename the AssetBundle to have the same name as the DLL, just with .assetbundle instead of .dll
Copy both, the AssetBundle and the DLL into your VaM folder, like Custom\Assets\Somewhere...
Add a CustomUnityAsset to your VaM scene and load the Prefab as usual. Scripts will be automatically loaded from the DLL.

Hey, is there any way to reduce the overall volume of this mod? I'm loving it, but its far, far louder than any of the vanilla sounds and it's quite jarring, and I see no way of doing that. It would be fine if it replaced all sounds, but as is I have to sacrifice vanilla audio volume to use this mod

Well, it's a lot of them, the greatest offenders though are the eyeless dog roaring when idle (about 30-40% louder than vanilla, plus why is it roaring while idle...?), door volume (roughly 20% louder than vanilla), and some ambience (roughly 10% louder on average over vanilla). I'd love to get specific file names, but I can't get specifics because my windows is refusing to load a folder with more than 2 .ogg files right now.

as far as dogs, do you mean the normal dog sounds or is it like a super loud roar thats really long?
cause there is also an issue with dogs using the jester scream
moreover doors were updated 35 minutes ago so let me know if thats still an issue
Not true ambience, mind you. This installation is up to date as of about 40 hours ago, usually it's the sound clips that play shortly after landing or while in the facility
It's definitely the dog roar, as if it has spotted you, but it's just roaming.
that sounds like a glitched sound which would be due to lcsoundtools I have heard that report before

I found it by using VLC and just loading the folder as a playlist. fuck windows It's the StunDog.ogg file that plays, nothing happening to the dog

and the dog is not stunned
then its an lcsoundtools issue

Yeah, it's a noticeable amount louder than vanilla dog sounds still, though. I'd compare it to the sound of about 60 landmines simultaneously detonating under the player
well slimes make static noises and spiders sound like their legs hit the floor at mach 8. There are some other issues as well. the problem is I cant tell what is my fault and what is no00obs fault until its fixed

true that, I keep having the game decide that 8 sounds is all it can handle and it just gives up and not play any new sounds for a while. this was with mostly vanilla gameplay, even.

sometimes a sound is coded to play 3 times WHICH times the volume by 3 so then a totally normal sound clip will blow someones ears out

Onto an actual bug: I messed up and didn't fully host the game on first install, and now every update I have to manually move the files into the customsounds directory or I don't get any updates, and if I uninstall I have to manually add the files into customsounds or I don't get lethalresonance at all. I have never gotten the prompt to host on install even after deleting the files and scrubbing as much lingering data as I could. Is there a fix for this?

like there is no DLL changing anything about the game
there may be a conflict with a dependancy such as LCSOUNDTOOLS or CUSTOMSOUNDS
but I havent heard of that problem yet and we dont do "the leg work" of loading sound files or anything like that

Well, Nothing except the volume and failure of installation. That's all of the info I have, I'm relatively tech savvy, and found the solution myself after 2 or 3 minutes. I don't mind it, but I may just borrow my friends working modlist code and then tweak the configs back to how I like them. The sounds work great, they just aren't either being moved to the bepinex/plugins/customsounds folder, or aren't being read from the bepinex/plugins/LethalResonance-LETHALRESONANCE/customsounds folder. Truth be told, my friend is the opposite of tech savvy as I am so I won't know until I get his code and inspect the folder installation XD
Normally during an install of any customsounds it doesnt relocate the sounds into customsounds

On first install of a sound pack, there's a note under the "host" button that tells you to host a game before quitting out. I was distracted and missed it until I had already hit quit. the note never appeared again

hmm... I specifically remember my friend hosted while I defaulted to standard behavior with new mods and loaded into main menu then instantly quit to generate .cfg files

When I load up I just wait until it gets to the menu screen and quit so my configs are created

I hadn't, but that was the next step. This is for a full group, but my friend and I were doing a lot of duo testing, and file swapping isnt a big deal for me as long as windows explorer doesn't decide to self destruct when it finds out it's a day that ends in "y"

Just hit create new profile
and it will create a seperate folder without you losing anything
It's what I was doing when testing, I'd just move the updated folder into the bepinex/plugins/customsounds folder and everything worked great.
We had 100 mods and it was easier to jury-rig audio into a semi-functional state then to try to pin down the issue at the time. Most of the serious bugs and conflicts have been ironed out, so now I'm looking into the "comfort" level bugs, like audio

Standard procedure of installing mods, loading, then launching worked flawlessly for test profile. So it must be an incompatibility or damaged installation. Will do some experiments and test some things, and get back to you
Im glad to hear it isnt on our side! If you find out what the conflict is let me know when you can so I can contact the right people to get it fixed or at minimum warn other users

Yeah, I run a remote headless Linux server in my spare time. The freedom of use is amazing but also terrifying lmfao. My first server install ended with me destroying the login information accidentally, rendering it all but inaccessible. I've been much more careful in the years since lmfao

Ok, so I overwrote the plugins on my main profile, and deleted the file workaround I had in use. I'm experiencing vanilla sounds even after a restart, so it's likely an issue with post-installation files
