that sounds like it could lead to performance hell
especially since im assuming these arent visual effects but particle effects
it's just a texture sheet, with culling it shouldn't be that bad

idk if there's like a better way to handle it instead of a big block with floating fire
visual effects is the intended way to handle a bunch of particles
cuz you can have millions of those just fine
but for particles, even if they're culled off screen, the instant they're on screen you'd probably notice the hit, especially if they do stuff like overlap on top of eachother (overdrawing)
you could technically also instance render the particles too to help
and if this is done through many particle effects instead of a few managing different parts of the moon and continuously instantiating them, then yeah, you'd notice
iirc wesley's hurricane or whatever it was called had (maybe still does) a problem where wesley was creating the tree to fall as soon as it fell, causing lag when it fell, rather than pre-creating them

I don't think it's finished but Paco did help complete most of the custom footsteps implementation in DawnLib, I'm working on particles that emit from said footsteps before I release it though

It does have a couple disadvantages though, one being that different modders (or different bundles) need to reuse audio clips etc to achieve the "same" surface, I've managed to circumvent that with our other solution with paco
The main thing I be worried about is multiple surfaces overlapping (like if two different mods register a FootstepSurface with a PhysicsObject named like 'Marble' or something), like which one should be picked
It be easier to implement in DawnLib just because of the NamespacedKey stuff

You can just enable a trigger that the player is inside and it'll call OnTriggerEnter
What kind? It’s usually null audio source shenanigans
It's just when you disable a trigger that it doesn't call OnTriggerExit
So you don't need to do the extra thing to check if a player is inside the range of the thing
Though it's more of a thing for the icy mines and stuff
Can be simplified
teleporting outside the range of the collider within a small amount of time, disabling the collider, a few things prevent ontriggerexit from being called

It's partially a DawnLib issue if you don't support Keyframe tangents for curve configs (which would make configuring it even more confusing lmao), but LunarConfig converting a curve in SelectableLevel (with specific tangents) to what the curve would be by default is what makes it squooch
technically the SpawnWeightsPreset is just a class i made that inherits a specific thing dawnlib's spawn weights would be looking for, lunarconfig is using it cuz it works but it can totally be expanded/edited for more functionality/different config reading
I mean ye it can be done, I just mean adding two or three extra numbers to every keyframe is even more confusing lol

That clip is when it was bugged, every 2 in game hours starting at 9 gives you a 10 second warning and then it lifts you for 10 seconds. It’s pretty easy to survive actually because you can just hide underneath a prop or you can maneuver yourself above a prop that’s much higher than you elevation wise when you start rising

having issues with the drains interior
ive set the min/max scrap to 7-10, then went on a 0.6 size interior moon, and the scrap was like 3-4
i tried 0.8, same thing
size 1, normal sized drains interior, same thing
this is 1.2
should it always be higher? or does it have a scrap multiplier?

This is not an issue with the drains interior. Matter of fact, it's probably not an issue at all and entirely because you have Moon Scrap Limits Patch installed.
Moon Scrap Limits Patch is using the moon's total minimum and maximum scrap value fields which otherwise go unused.
So whatever moon you're playing on looks to have an incredibly low min-max scrap value.
Which actually doesn't seem to be the case since it seems the last moon you landed on was March?
I'm still willing to chock this up to being an issue with Moon Scrap Limit Patch given it was last updated a year ago.
