There’s so many creative things they could do with “this thing digs up ancient plants”.
Like water plants, ones that hang (kind of like the vines in lush caves), flowers that are three blocks tall, mount on walls, etc. Just so many options since it’s a vague description and they did two plants which was the bare minimum to meet the promise of it digging up “plants”.

I will admit, I miss the versions of Biomes O'Plenty which had more fantastical biomes.
Like the two iterations of the Promised Land, the Alps (ok, not fantastical, but still one I miss), the Ominous Woods, the old iteration of the Crag with its jagged cliffs, ashen ground and dark waters...
The different skyboxes were a big part of why I loved this mod so much as well.
Nowadays it seems a lot of the skyboxes have gone back to blue for some jungle biomes or the dark woods.

Clear any/some of the worry away, get opinions, break the creative block, and begin again from there. Your work's fantastic, but it'd be a shame if we didn't get to see it if your computer decided to quit itself.

I have a pretty good gut feeling it's both frustration and imposter syndrome
Since generic has trouble recognizing the quality of his own work and it seems to bother him quite a lot
I know since I suffer from similar frustrations and doubts about my own abilities regarding certain things as well

He also had pc issues not too long ago and I’m hoping it didn’t just die and cause him to lose the project. That would really kill someone’s mood. I at least had a backup when that happened to me but I don’t know that he does.

Honestly the balancing part is one of my least favorite parts too. It’s that and some of the decorating like painting the terrain (which is why mine are mostly just one grass texture)/placing in all the little decorations that just feel tedious.
