#PvPvE Is the Real Game , don't miss this opportunity!

I tried the PvE mode in Gray Zone Warfare and honestly… man, it felt way too easy and empty.
No real tension. No pressure. None of that edge that pushes you to improve, gear up, and actually think before every move.
Warfare mode, PvPvE, is where the game truly comes alive. That mix of player threat plus AI is what creates unpredictable situations and real adrenaline.
I am not saying PvE only should not exist. Some people prefer it, and that is fine.
But at least make them two completely separate progressions.
Like Tarkov does it. PvPvE is one career, PvE is another. No overlap.
Right now it feels like PvE removes a core part of what makes the game engaging in the first place.

What's your suggestion?

#

This feels like a weird advertisment.

#

Oh - I see it. It's one sentence in the middle of a bunch of rambling.

But at least make them two completely separate progressions.

Yeah, discussed at length and it's a huge non-starter.

late moth
#

This is just another person saying that PvE is empty, worthless, and that PvP and PvE progression should be separated. That seems reasonable to me, especially since the number of players continues to decline rapidly.

cold totem
#

Most of the time the players on PvE usually ONLY play PvE so I dont see the issue with whether or not the progression carries over.

in my opinion to pve should be implement ai system from breakpoint. If u start going to open fire and comprimise your presents at the area ,they fight, they try to hunt you and kill . They pushing u from all sectors of camp, base etc. they searching areas, they patrol alot and engaging easly. I just install again GR breakpoint and i felt this immersion and pressure again .

The devs didnt design this game to be pvp focused, they stated they want to other factions to work together. As the devs also said, it is a 10:1 ration of those in pve vs pvp side. I dont care to be sniped while trying to do a task.

outer zodiac
#

also keeping them linked allows you to take a pause from pvp (when maybe you are getting destroyed too many times in a row or you are running out of equip/money) and relax a bit on pve while still contributing to a single character, I think this is a very good thingf

loud furnace
#

i dont see any problem now mixing progression between modes .. the game still not have the full economy and getting money and gears in both mode are similar. sometimes i gear up in pvevp mode and sometimes i gear up in pve when i dont want the andernaline shot which connected with pvp mode.
be aware the game is PvEvP and not PvPvE which means PvE is the focus and PvP is not forced by the game design

frank oxide
#

I think instead of this, there could be missions/items that require PvEvP play instead of just PVE play. Like a mission where you have to find 2x (thing) and the game notifies you that (thing) is only on PvEvP servers. Maybe you need to take down an enemy-occupied COP and loot it from the defender NPCs. That way the game nudges players to try out PvEvP and see if they like it, you aren't forced to PVP but you are forced to get into a situation where you might face it. Maybe each vendor level could require a mission where you need to do a PvEvP task to reach the next level regardless of rep?

#

I think that the game could benefit from some more PVP oriented game modes (like maybe an arena, or a smaller map PVP mode) to increase the player base, but I don't really want to be forced to PVP unless I feel like it. And I don't want my progression to be seperated because the reality is I just don't have the time to grind the game twice. I like doing PVE when I want to grind out tasks with my (much less experienced in FPS games as a whole) friends and I like doing PVP when I want to PVP. There are, in fact, two wolves inside me

dusty sphinx

#

Separating progression makes sense to me for only one reason: it's just cool to have both accounts and I wish I could not share items between the two of mine, so I could chose to play PvP or PvE depending on how I feel and don't mix it.

I don't care if people farm on PvE to play PvP.

prime quiver

Yay, enforcing modes like :this must be done in PvP would be a bad idea. Not everyone likes PvP, why hard stop their progression?

PVE first does not mean that pve and pvevp character progression should not be separated. IMO is a good idea, because at the current state it destroys completely the balance of pvevp servers. Or is it funny to farm 10M and stash and spam mortars on the pvevp only players?

dim leaf
#

The argument "it destroys the balance of PvEvP servers" is rarely right, because oftentimes it is easier to grind on PvEvP servers because there's less people looting or grinding.

use pve to learn the map or just chill

dusty sphinx
#

Juicing isn't as impactful in this game, you can build a very cheap Ak, load some cheap ammo, play on day servers only and face tap someone to get free gear. You can find a scope in many places for free and a mounting bracket costs $125.
You don't have stats or hit points to worry about or even face shields.

I can see a point in the 'Gear Fear' PoV but it's kinda clear with shared progression and trader stock rework that the game is not moving toward the scavenge, gear fear part of it like other Extraction Shooter and something more toward active skirmish with occasional team play opportunity like ArmA-lite instead.

It doesn't matter much to me either way.

tidal vector
#

At the moment if you seperate progression, it wouldn't change any "gear fear" since when you die you just go buy your kit again

plush yarrow
tidal vector
#

It would push ppl to use basic kits like in 0.3, very rarely did i see Warfare players in high end kit

#

Because in 0.3 HVL and Money was harder to come by and all the high end kit like 20 inch barrels and the Phantom Carrier weren't purchasable

tidal vector
#

So in the end splitting would make that worse than it was

#

Or ppl would just not bother with Warfare

#

In the end the shared progression isn't the issue, its the more fundamental gameplay issues that are

#

I watched JGOD talk about PVE being part of DMZ that's coming and he said something really good, i will be paraphrasing

But he said if an extraction shooter can't stand on it's own with the PVE content, then no matter how much PVP you push, the game won't survive

calm rampart

My point is, I feel like many PVPers who came to GZW kinda expect high risk, high reward, chad v chad type of game when the game is not (arguably never is) in that direction anymore

# ancient roost I remember an MFG video where they asked a group of players something like "anyo...

Eh, not really. What it is now is what the plan has always been. Has always been open world, play in the same world as long as you want. COPS were always part if the plan, etc. The only real pivot they made was when they went from "we want PvP to be natural. Not forced, and we dont want to reward it or do things to push people to it" to whatever they did in 0.3 with adding XP for player kills, crappy conflict circle, and turning away from what they stated they intended for PvP in Warfare. Luckily theyre doing another course correction and working to slow the action down again

#

I could see it being extraction-esque when we used to have to go back to base all the time between doing any tasks and whatnot. But that was the deal just because the game hadn't advanced enough to have the COPs and such yet. But they were always planned

#

So they didnt really "pivot away" they just continued development.

You cannot compare the two modes. PVE is way to easier than pvp: just imagine doing tasks on pve servers, with all cops and fobs unlocked and no one to be afraid of. On the other hand on pvp servers you should take into account all sort of enemies and especially areas controlled by enemy forces(cops, fobs). The two experiences are totally different and that's why they should be separated. Now the question is: why many players don't understand it?

unborn zenith
#

Just because they're different doesn't mean they should be separated.

#

You actually need a reason.

#

If someone wants to loot up in PvE and fight me in PvP I'm okay with it.

#

It means the people who would otherwise never join PvP servers will now join sometimes.

#

It's actually the perfect system IMO. If someone is struggling in PvP they can do some PvE to get some money and gear back. Then jump back in.

prime quiver

Also as admitted by Nikita over half the players of Tarkov play PVE and a tiny percentage of those players play PVP as well as PVE and the PVP players would never play PVE

ancient roost
tidal vector
#

Why would MFG worry about pulling players from Tarkov?

ancient roost
prime quiver
tidal vector
#

To the people who want a seperate progression, i keep asking, how do you know the players you're fighting geared up in PVE and how does not knowing affect your playtime?

ancient roost
ancient roost
tidal vector
#

Lol he never said that 😄

prime quiver
#

As such, splitting progression absolutely will not have any effect on pulling people from Tarkov.

ancient roost
#

Yes it would. I play 0 GZW right now but would return if they corrected a few things, split progression being one of them.

prime quiver
#

I see we have a fantasist here...

tidal vector
#

So as everyone who wants a split progression never seem to answer, HOW do you know the players you're fighting against got their gear in PVE?

ancient roost
unborn zenith
#

Also, at least for me, it's way more fun to fight against geared players. I want people running the best guns and ammo because it's more challenging. If progression is split most of the people I fight will be running even worse gear than they do now.

ancient roost
molten cosmos
ancient roost
prime quiver
#

When the only factor is "risk", and your arguement is people playing one mode have little risk compared to the other, you run into the issue of "risk appetite". If your reason to split progression is your "risk appetite" is higher than someone who doesn't, then that's entirely on you - nobody has to accept the same risk just because you do.

Exactly.

ancient roost
unborn zenith
#

The whole notion of risk comes from people who don't PvP a lot or are low skill players that watch streamers.

#

Any player who PvPs a lot gives zero craps about "risk".

tidal vector
#

"and a lot of other" uh huh

unborn zenith
#

Because if you're in PvP a lot you're swimming in gear anyway and just don't care either way.

prime quiver
molten cosmos
#

i think whats funny is at the very least a small vocal majority does or did at one point exist that wanted combined progression and basically the gradual wipe of PvE, but was against non-PvP incentives in PvEvP

#

so basically wanted just a battle royal

#

they were also the same people who used clown emoji reactions under messages so you could smell the shit from their diapers

unborn zenith
#

All you gotta do is look at how people play in Warfare mode now. They're basically playing Battlefield. You can still find fights at POIs (I just had a really fun 1+ hour long fight at Midnight). But the majority of players are COP hopping and playing territory control.

tidal vector
unborn zenith
#

It's literally Battlefield with more steps.

#

Hopefully this week's patch will change some of that though.

#

Speaking of risk: most of those COP hoppers are running around with crappy bot guns.

Tarkov has nearly 10 years of content, you could be playing that game for hundreds of hours and still scratch the surface and COD has multiple modes with weekly content updates

#

GZW, half way through EA 😄

molten cosmos
#

i will say this as i have said in the past, unless they refine and iron out PvEvP to where its actually PvEvP and not rebranded PvP, where we have non-player fighting incentives and things to do with our own factions or against others besides fighting over COPs

#

then i dont feel like playing PvEvP because just why

#

im also not a sweat, i dont need to encounter players to tick myself up with a high im not addicted

#

neither are most people

prime quiver
# tidal vector GZW, half way through EA 😄

With a small roster of weapons, half a game map still locked and no real end game loop. Yeah, the big reason people aren't sticking around is because of non-split progressions....🤔

molten cosmos
unborn zenith
#

The issue for me is that PvP fights are the only interesting thing left. Especially since I've played previous patches so I've done all tasks, visited all locations, etc. I've been playing non stop since 0.4 launched and it hasn't gotten stale yet - just because the PvP is so good when it's not a COP fight.

tidal vector
#

Theres far more issues and content that GZW needs and its not gutting the progression 😄

ancient roost
tidal vector
prime quiver
#

Like I said earlier - split progress and that side of the game will crash within days. With faction imbalance and less players in the mode, you'll see far, far, far fewer fights than you'd see now, and mostly with junk gear because those who accept the higher "risk" often run junk gear anyway themselves...

tidal vector
molten cosmos
# ancient roost And yet here you people are defending it

im not even deep diving into this as much as everyone else is, but im so curious as to why you and your amigos on the "we need to split progression" express solely focus on that being the #1 priority instead of everything else concerning GZW

molten cosmos

tidal vector
#

You can literally buy EVERYTHING

#

All you have to do is go to a low risk area and you can get 10s of thousands of HVL in one run and you're back, twice over

unborn zenith
#

This is why I say supporters of split progression either don't PvP or don't understand the game. The stuff you're saying is just... wrong.

#

If you're just watching streamers or theorycrafting then in your mind there are players literally everywhere. In every bush. Every house.

#

But the reality is that the majority of the map has no players. And there are loot runs you can do with a very low risk of bumping into anyone.

#

You can even loot T3 POIs like MS/TB while everyone fights over the COPs nearby.

#

I literally just that today and last night. People were fighting over COPs while I snuck into TB and looted the whole place. Then I did the same for MS.

#

You can do all of that with low tier gear. Or just go in with a pistol, kill a military AI, and use his PP ammo.

You don't just blindly go into locations. There's a lot information you can gather by just watching the map.

You can land at a place, listen for shots, and dip if you don't want the heat.

#

Then just do a low risk loot run where players aren't roaming.

ancient roost
unborn zenith
#

not what we're talking about

prime quiver
#

Key fact remains though - none of this will change if you split progression. All it does is massively reduce the number of players willing to participate in the mode.

And it'll disproportionately hurt weekend players and casual players.
