#Roaming patrols next to LZ's.

I like it this way. We can see patrols before landing at times if people pay attention. I treat everywhere as unsafe and I like unpredictable encounters. Stay alert. Same for COPs. I wish there were more patrols around them as well rather than thinking we're in a safe space.
In my opinion, if we should be treating every LZ as a hot one, then we need tools for handling them as well, like an ability to opt out of landing (if you're going for immersion), or the same invincibility as in PvP (from a more practical standpoint). Same for COP's, if there's gonna be bots sneaking in there, we'd need something that'll warn us to get out of the menus.
We have people asking to be able to see the AI spread out more and even have conflict between different AI groups.
To me, it stands to reason that the natural extension of this is that AI would actually camp LZs as well.
I don't see a mental model that allows for one and not the other.
Sure but I think for me I've trained my thought process, maybe it's cope, to stay alert and my fault if I lose in a sense. I think games/gamers have gotten lazy and we're not paying attention to what we're doing to then see many complaints of blaming a game rather than their own accountability. A heads up would be nice, but I don't want to rely on it to feel "safe", as anything can happen. What if we're on Warfare? If players mortar an LZ, do we need the game to alert us, and who's getting that Intel to relay mortars inbound?
If there's some bad paths that leave us with nearly no chance though, like an AI patrol literally standing on the LZ when flying in, then yeah that may feel like a bit much currently.
Yeah shure, we can't have handholding the entire way. PvP is (for most at least) a choice to what you want to face. But being jumped by bots at COPs and LZ's just seems very inconvenient for the PvE side, and doesn't really add to the game in my opinion.
I'm all for a standoff, but we can't reason with AI, at least yet..
The game was built in mind for having a squad so sure we may have better survival but, as a solo player and landing with 5 AI pointing at me, I'd have to hit my shots quick and accurate but that also is very unrealistic lol.
all LZs and areas of this map are hot zones, we are not in a peaceful country
being said however, someone brought up that some LZs are directly next to some roads which is really funny when you look and see that theres a nice patch of grass nearby
just move some LZs a bit, nothing too drastic
thats it
I've had this happen at Lima 2. I'm landing and there's a 4 man patrol 10m from the LZ. I land, get off the bird and am instantly back in base camp. This was in 0.2 though, before we could respawn in CoPs.
I agree with this sentiment, but I knew exactly what LZ that picture would be before I even looked.
That particular LZ is really bad because a patrol can be passing by and there's literally no cover whatsoever there.
I almost never use Hotel 2 - it's not a 100% death sentence, but a good half the time the AI is patrolling within 50m and draws a bead on you before you hit dirt.
It's happened enough to me I've personally blacklisted it.
