#PvP Enhancements

Having read hundreds of various complaints about the PvP experience since launch in both this Discord and Reddit, I feel like I've finally cracked the solution for fixing the Warfare game mode and delivering the gameplay that folks are really asking for.

Here are the two critical changes that I think would help smooth out the PvP experience and eliminate a lot of what contributes to major complaints and frustration.:

#
  1. Fixing COPs 🤯

The best way to fix COPs is to make them PvE-only zones. It's so obvious that I'm surprised nobody's suggested it yet. It feels like 90% of the PvP suggestions are or the form "I don't like the COP fight-respawn-reengage cycle". If you can't fight in a COP, then this is a squeaky clean solution.

Additionally, a lot of players complain that it's the only place any consistent PvP happens and they want to see it happen more out in the world. This lets COPs be used for their intended purpose and opens the door for rare cross-faction collaboration if players want to cooperate in taking down an enemy-held COP.

And since many people have suggested adding PvP elements to the PvE mode, I assume everyone's game for an out-of-the-box solution.

  1. Team-killers / Aggressor Enhancement 🪦

We all know the aggressor system has a lot of holes and not enough consequence. People either bait others to kill them so that person gets the aggressor status or will just log out after taking your stuff and have no real consequence. The best way to solve this is if you kill another faction member, the downed player gets a "Would you like to press charges?" pop-up on their death screen. If you select the "Yes, get his ass!" button, then that player immediately loses all access to their COP and FOB services for 120 minutes.

Yes, this includes not being able to call choppers and not being able to log out from them. The only way they can safely log out is by infiltrating an opposing faction's FOB and logging out from there. But if they kill any other faction players or FOB guards, they'll be blacklisted from that faction's extract as well.

Not being able to safely log out and no inventory access makes stealing gear pointless. And that also puts all of their gear at risk unless they're a stealthy ninja (which isn't easy when you're overloaded with your ill-gotten loot).

If that person is somehow able to safely exfil from an opposing FOB, they won't be able to rejoin a server from someone that pressed charges against them for 24h. This prevents someone trying to stalk, harass or get revenge on the previous target. This restriction would be waved for anyone joining as a squad - because we know that some dudes can only show affection to another dude with misplaced-but-strangely-not-unwelcome violence and it just sometimes be like that.

I'm looking forward to hear everyone's feedback and support.

If COPs are PvE only zones. How does a Mithras player take a COP from an LRI player if an LRI player is currently inside the COP?

If they can't, what's to stop the LRI player from cock-blocking the Mithras player and preventing them from establishing control over a COP so they can task nearby?

Thumbs down about making the COPs PvE zones. Just flat out wouldnt work.

Perhaps adding a Light Zone inside the Cop could make that Cop only PvE.

Making it only possible to enter and exit by helicopter.

Is this... serious? Or are you making a joke?

Assuming you're serious:

  • People will find whatever PvE boundary there is and just camp it. Or they'll step in and out of the boundary which is exploitable for various reasons.
  • It'll lead to a lot of toxic behavior as opposing teams argue with each other about who sucks more at the game, who's "cheating", who's a camper, etc, etc. They will not come together and be friends after killing each other and looting each other's stuff.
  • It violates a pretty core aspect of the game which is the second you leave basecamp you're in danger until you come back. Currently COPs provide temporary safety but you're not 100% safe there.
  • A lot of PvPers actually enjoy COP fights. It's a lot of fun to make a last stand at a COP while enemy players try to rush in with grenades, mortars, and flashbangs. What people don't like is the waves don't stop. There needs to be some punishment for dying 20 times in <10 minutes.

It'll be a total shitshow of toxicity, exploits, trolling, and all the while taking away the grittiness of the game.

People either bait others to kill them so that person gets the aggressor status or will just log out after taking your stuff and have no real consequence.
This is not a problem. People that complain about it are greatly exaggerating because they're mad. It barely ever happens - I've seen it happen to someone else just once in all of my play time.

What it will do is unfairly punish accidental team kills which are common when 8 blueberries all mass together in one area (like MS Hotel). Almost every accidental team kill will be punished out of frustration from the person being team killed.

I still don't know if you're just wasting everyone's time or not. So I'll just bow out I guess.

I can only speak for myself, and probably quite a few other players but probably not. COP fighting is not the issue, the issue being the endless waves of people that result in COP fighting. And if I can't be killed in this imaginary boundary what is preventing me from just staying at the edge and waiting for people.

I just don't understand the point of focusing on the worst and least productive arguments. Who's "getting got" here? The people who won't see the irony anyway or just won't give a crap.

#

eg: Do we just ignore flat earthers or do we waste time making fun of them... or?

  1. For the first point, I think we should tackled to the keyword of ‘COP respawning-reengage cycle’ taking MFG resources and their implementation time into account, I would say the best course of action, from my perspective is to add a timer for respawning process, hence stopping the cycle and move the engagement else where as the player need to be respawn in other nearby COP. Easy and Clean solution to stop the cycle.

From my understanding, making it PVE area would require that MFG to rethink whole mechanic and putting their resources there and I have no benefit of the doubt toward them doing it. Rather than making it PVE area in PVEVP as most of the people in PVEVP joined the game with intention to prioritize fighting player if the opportunity arise, I think MFG should focus on how to make communication more accessible for player in every factions like improving their chat and add more squad radio, in order to create a collaborative even with opposite faction in the game.

  1. Turn off Team Damage in PVEVP since there no reason to shoot your own people. With this there’s nothing else to implement to deal with problem. If the game is really realistic then you should be able to shoot your people in PVE too
