#add a different scope render system
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Pip rendering is a standard in nowadays realistic FPS games. Devs do not plan to change it, sorry. Upgrade your rig or lower the settings.
arma got it, nobody uses it. insurgency sandstorm got it, nobody uses it. you cant compensate ue5´s need in performance if you use pip. and thats straight up a lie that its standart
there are no ue5 games with good performance using pip.
look at the frametimes. if thats standart iam lost
There is. GZW. one of the better optimised ue games lately.
4070 super btw
i can play remnant 2 on ultra with 260 fps
and many other titles. greyzone is by far the worst optimized in scope
And? How do you want to not have reduced frames if using pip? It's not possible.
Pip means reduced FPS, there's no way to have pip and do not have reduced FPS.
yes exactly. thats why we need an alternative
I don't need the alternative. Devs stated many months ago that pip is staying because that's how they see it and other solutions are not for their liking
i mean i play on a pretty solid system. a 4070 super is pretty high nowadays. how do you expect the player counter to stay up if nobody can run the game properly. thats not logical. inefficient and wasted potential
if they fix this issue they are one of the first. multiframegen can save pip. but for cards under 5xxx series. absolute clownfiesta
Then the only solution for you is to lower your settings or upgrade your rig so the difference won't be visible.
you tell me to upgrade from a 4070 cuz of a stupid unefficient render system that forces me to render a ue5 game twice ? thats madness
How's pip "unefficient"? It works as intended - rendering a camera view within a camera view. .4 even further optimises it. Anyway I see there's no point to discuss further cuz you'll still demand a change which is not gonna happen as stated clearly by MFG many months ago
if its that good why does it doubles my input delay to over 70
there is something incredibly wrong with it
a normal frametime is 20-30 nowadays with asynchronus rendering
but thats just absolutely terrible
a 6x multiframegen is 44-50 btw. so a single framegen crashing up to 60-80 is absolutely unefficient
cuz the gpu load spikes. wich leads to bad frame timing wich leads to bad visiual and input feeling. its not about frames. its about latencys and drops
and thats unacceptable on a 4070 super gpu on lowest settings
Looks fine to me.
70 ms on the right picture. you drunk ?
first, you are upset you are dropping from 70 to 62?
Ah, not the FPS, the latency?
no. learn to read. i talk about latencys. it kicks up to 70 ms
70 ms is inacceptable
There is no other way to do it, and still keep the scopes in their own render plane.
Very much so suggests FPS, but I digress.
Anyways, yes, as melsy said, there's no other way to do it and still keep the scopes in their own render plane.
thats why it needs an alternative way to use the scope. pip is simply bad
If you lose the PIP, than you have to force the the views on the same render plane with one camera, which means blacking out the non scoped view, losing the way the optics work
thats fine for me if i can aim after that without a glass ball to predict the future
Arma actually does do it as well.
But they have an option for 2d scopes, that takes away the pip, and puts a black filter over screen around the scope
PiP is resource-intensive, yes, but as was mentioned earlier the devs aren't going to swap away from it.
There's also certain advantages you don't get without PiP, such as the peripherals being visible.
Any game that has a second camera, by definition, uses pip
They have made drastic optimizations to it since .1.
In .1, it was about a 40% frame drop when you scoped with zoomed optics.
gl optimizing that shit 😄
glass ball?
did i miss something?
you cant aim properly with 70 ms without predictiong the future thats absolut bs
this is not a 180 FPS twitch shooter
It's not too bad, but I get your point.
70ms is not enough time for anything to make you miss
it doesent matter what kind of game it is
70 ms is not acceptable
you dont have to argue about something thats not done properly
and the performance is a massiv issue
Nope
see there we got a fix that actually works
nobody said that
insurgency is also no cod and it got alternatives
without blackening out the edges
adding 2d scopes would destroy the entire idea of what the game is
I don't think you have a good idea of what "unacceptable" is, because 70 ms of latency is fine, especially in this game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELsKrY6o_bA its working without scope in scope and it looks better then scoping in gzw
it got pip but nobody uses it
cuz it kills performance
not nobody.
I use it
I use pip in arma as well, a few extra ms does not matter to me.
That is not how multiplayer games work
your the first person i ever met then using pip on choice congratulation
pip in arma is the same. useless and kills performance
Negative, i would venturemost players on arma do
a trade iam not willing to take
but anyway
They are not going to do 2d scopes here, it removes the realism element to much
just a little push for the long run. how you gonna keep players if a big circle is getting forced out by bad performance cuz of such mechanics
they need a fix over long run
and no game ever fixed the intense fps costs of pip
it is nowhere near as bad as you are making it out to be.
70ms is nothing in terms of multiplayer games.
The server only renders 30 or 60 FPS on the delta time anyway, and everything else is interpolation.
There are people that are playing this game at 30 - 40 FPS and having no issues
Hell Arma runs at 30 - 45 frames in most rigs
and thats a shame
Im sorry it is that much of an issue for you.
Maybe they will have it more optimised later, you can always try again after .5, and see if it is better
i also have the feeling i lost massiv fps on this udpate
try a reinstall, and clear out the shader cache.
I had that happen after .3.5
It was supposed to be better, but I lost performance.
Cleared it all out, and it ran great again
since i updated drivers i cleared the shaders as well
also dlss is a mess right now in this game. xess looks better. and dlss smooth motion runs better then the internal frame gen
no clue what they messed up
maybe iam just incredibly unlucky and my gpu dies and these are the first symptoms
I was looking at the screen shots again.
The overlay is showing different than the in game fps.
Do you use frame gen?
i have to cuz without the frames are terrible
like an absolute mess. but my latencys are higher then my mate with 6x framegen
i use 1x
What is "terrible" for you?
wich is.... interesting
incredibly unstable jumping around like crazy depending on position and scope
but I mean Frame wise.
Frame time is all fine, but it is not accurate when you use frame gen
is 60 fps terrible for you?
what res?
cant play on consoles
2k but performance mode in dlss
modell K since M gives 20% less fps
even if its ugly as hell
That gpu is underpowered for that.
This game is one of the most graphicially demanding game out right now
my gpu cooks at 90 degree in some spots
bad optimized not demanding
a bad optimized ue5 game is brutal
it is extremely demanding.
when remnant 2 was launched it was the same but they fixed it completely
its an engine issue
also latencys are an ue5 problem
I agree UE is not great now adays.
They have done amazing on it so far though
There is no game out there that is this intense.
This is this generations Crysis
on lowest settings, low dlss it looks like shit tho
It took 10 years for a lot of gamers to be able to play Crysis.
And that is real, I built the best possible PC i could back then, and it still took a full upgrade 4 years later to even run it on high
dlss always looks like shit to me
I cant stand FSR and DLSS, they are blurry messes
iam from the crysis generation also. i know about it and saw it live. but greyzone looks like poopoo if its lowest settings etc and runs like shit in combination
its an unoptimized mess still. i mean its early access and prealpha so its normal
have you tried TSR?
but you cant say they done well while its still a mess. they need tons of work to do still. and not giving an alternative until its fixed cuz it breaks immersion is a wild call. they could remove it once they fixed peroformance.
Much better for me
I have a 7900xtx with a ryzen 5900x, and I run on high to keep > 60 frames.
tsr looks weird
like alot of wild grey/dark spots
like these ugly ue5 shadow render spots
thats just ugly
xess gives me best results
to be honest
iam amazed by intel right now
xess as good for me in .1, and in .2 it changed to TSR working best.
FSR is to blurry to read the specter for me.
xess got updated greatly
sure.... lemme uprage my pretty damn late gen rtx 5070....
LMAO.... nothing will help with PIP scopes. I would rather have BLACK all around it and not being reliant on running 2x frame gen just to have smooth optic.
Crysis is a bad comparison tbh since it's built on the idea single-core PCs would be the future and not multi-core but that's besides the point.
Tbh I wouldn't be concerned about any latency below 100ms. PiP is fine, most ARMA players I know use PiP, people gotta learn to turn their settings down.
holy alpha, being here since release
And let me clarify, devs did stunning work with PIP being "workable".
Its just that POS tech cant be made into something smooth, responsive and reliable on current gen of HW. It simply CANT.
Hence why there should be option with blacked out surroudings for those who prefer it that way. Hell its not even PVP cheeze advantage, you literally nerf yourself.
I'm not sure how this is such a debate. It's a simple fact that Gray Zone has a very serious performance issue that is potentially gate keeping this game from reaching a larger audience that can sustain it into the future.
PiP is not the sole reason for this, but it is related to larger game wide performance issues. I have faith that moving forward MFG will squeeze more optimization out of the game. In the grand scheme of things, this game is early on still. The game is literally pre-alpha still.
Bro i run every game I play 4k epic (including this one, except some settings on high).
There are some scopes in this game that feel like they are borderline crashing my game. Sub 1 frame per second. I dont notice a drop on most scopes, but theres a few that are unuseable.
try this one
i mean logicly. not as an insult but think wider then 1 or 2 steps.
my 4070 super cant handle pip
so we have a problem for 80% of the players trying this game.
- if its a design choice why ue5 ? games are demanding as hell in this engine and you force my gpu to render it twice ? thats illogical inefficient and not smart. optimization can help but that choice throws them 3 steps back. everytime they optimize something and they achieve 4 frames more. i loose 60 when i zoom in.
3.it turns my gpu up to 86 degree celcius. what will happen with a 3xxx gpu or a 2xxx, 1xxx and so on gpu. it propably will stutter, crash or just wont work well.
my system is above average and you tell me a bit scoping immersion is worth trashing the performance ? your delusional
and nobody forces you to remove if from the game. we need alternatives, that works instead of this slop. so we can choose by ourself instead of being forced to use unoptimized, old not properly working tech
UE5 has the capacity to be highly demanding, but it's not an inherent universal quality of the engine. MFG needs more time to try more optimization techniques for the rendering system. The game is in pre-alpha.
I guarantee MFG aren't happy with the game's performance in the grand scheme of things. If it's difficult for you to play at the moment, come back in a year or two.
You funded an early access game, that basically released as a proof of concept. It's going to take time for it to reach the quality standards of a finished product.
realistically, outside of the optics, it runs relatively well already, they did massive job with 0.4
But the PIP is simply bad tech and on UE5, its not doing well. I would run the game without frame gen happily at 70-90 fps.
But the second i go ADS, its 40-50 and choppy AF.
i would rather have blackedout screen than reticle thats ghosting, or lasers at night
For 3, I've never had an issue beyond the expected low FPS from using a relatively outdated GPU. No real stuttering, no real crashing, nothing working poorly. I didn't run magnified optics often because of the performance, but I had little-to-no problems when I did run them and I preferred them as PiP rather than just zooming in the screen
On my 5700 xt I normally get FPS up into the 90s and have never gone below 60 even using pip. I also normally lock fps at 57 in my driver settings and 60 in game so it never drops even in pip. If you have a problem with 60 fps and can't handle dropping from 79 to 60 that's a you problem lol. Just lower your graphics so it's a less noticeable drop
sry but nobody asked for your opinion i asked for an alternative for people that doesent want to use it that way
You are asking for something that already has been confirmed is not happening so good luck I guess
Lmao, if you want to play choppy game, go for it. I want to use my 144hz monitor as much as possible and there is MASSIVE... absolutely HUMONGOUS difference between 144fps. Then 70-90 i get without frame gen and then disgusting difference in PIP when it drops to 40-50 range without frame gen.
Game doing this on latest gen GPUs is not excusable as long as there is no other option to get rid of such drops and so far, there is not, iam forced to use pip.
I'm not sure how you are getting these massive drops. I drop 10-15 frames max
It's really not that bad for me personally
Bro i get 150+ on 4k high settings. There are scopes that bring me below 1fps
nobody cares. its about an alternative. you like it, use it but dont try to protect shit
buddy we on the same side here
sry i wanted to tag the other guy
oh haha
hes delusional protecting this pip shit
yea ngl either my settings are fucked or he hasnt tried any of the big scopes yet
fps arent the issue. i posted pictures earlier in the forum my frametimes double if you scope in
sometimes triple
cuz the renderpipline of pip is just slow as shit
whats frametimes?
my game feels like its going to crash when i do some scopes
nah like what does it mean
70ms until your mouse input gets used
ohhh
so basicly its like being drunk
i mean my shit gets so bad it freezes for multiple seconds at a time
with that scope i posted
20-40ms is okay but 70-80 is unacceptable but people in this forum sweettalk that shit
if i scope in with some scopes im prettty much frozen for 5+ seconds
and since the scope sense is also desynced and far too fast the input delay doesent help
others i have no issues
70-80 is in fact perfectly fine.
you tripping ?
modern games got like 10
in valorant i got 2
in cs i got 8
do yall not just freeze lol? If people saw what im seeing no one would be arguing against an alternative
I used to play games with around 150 lmao, 70-80 is fine.
what you used to do is absolutely not important. 70 is far above standart and average your experience doesent matter here
40 is standart for 6x framegen
I think you’re just being a deva. I’ve never had issues gaming below the “ultra gamer” setups. Literally never had issues when I was on xbox getting 30fps and shit.
and this game doubles it becouse it sucks
then go play xbox
It’s like this, either accept less than perfect or don’t.
we talk about an pc title with modern tech
not an old apu console
HOW THE FUCK DO I GET 80 ? i am missing competence right here
AI is an unreliable source, literally sourced reddit
thats math you dumbass
And gen ai isn’t a calculator
frames per second = latency between frames. becouse a second is defined. you monkey
I know, I’m a dev dumbass
still a monkey
As someone who uses an 4070 Super myself, I average at about 90FPS on mostly high or epic settings.
Whatever your issue is, I can say without a shadow of doubt it's not a issue with that card spec.
Not of this game btw
frametimes not fps. putting letters to a sentence is hard
i guess ill move on to red river since that works fluently
Exactly. People aren't fine with something being even slightly unoptimized anymore, and absolutely must have the top experience imaginable.
The game is quite playable, even at low FPS or with latency. If people can't forgive such minor sins, then maybe they shouldn't play games that they know are in pre-alpha.
i ask for an alternative of a bad system nothing else. you guys did the drama everything i said is fact
thats what suggestions and feedback is here for
is that game PVE only?
Pvp creates issues with different rendering options
nope
pvp and pve renders the same
looks cool but i cant do pve-only bruh, straight up fighting 1s and 0s is how i feel playing pve
you got around 100 settings to create your own ai
thats pretty cool ngl
for me the perfect game would be if GZW was designed with PVP first but ill take what i can get
If you use different scope render systems, players could have advantages over others.
thats why you enable a setting to give the player a choice.
so more fps or a better scope
i would choose 1.
yea but if someone is getting 400 fps on 4k vs 50 fps on 2k they have advantage too
and just becouse you cant accept the fact that people want alternatives and being nazi about it it would be great if a competent discussion would happen
Or one system could cause foliage to render different for example and give a concealment issue for players
if they cant play they gonna leave ill remind you of the last drop of players going down to 1000
thats not future proof like that
most ppl cant play properly
and most people are not willing to play on potato fps
Then leave dude, comparing games like every dev has to be the same and an early access game needs to be AAA finished material
cuz i give feedback you dont like ?
no iam giving construktive feedback with proofs
your taking it personal and shittalk
just get lost if you cant give proper feedback
high frametimes are bad fact. no matter what your shitty opinion is.
I think the point you are missing is that I use the exact same GPU, and I have absolutely no issue.
Sure, I'm not running it at 4k, or even 2k, but you need to make the choice - run lower settings, or accept you're asking too much of your card.
Either way, I would say you need to cool your heels a little.
the game does cuz that card should work. your talking nonsense cuz its a fact that high frametimes are an issue and instead of witchhunting me we could try to find the issue but hey its pip
maybe you dont realize your having that issue
I think that will happen again regardless (albeit not THAT low), just cuz PVE players dont have much to do after unlocking everything, unless they want to fight braindead AI all day for no return, and I dont think PVP is attractive enough (yet) for people to stick around 1 year+ after wipe.
the game got massiv potential but it seems like the devs are using it not on the fullest. like i said using a system that drops your fps by 40% everytime you zoom in will ruin your optimization.
thats a fact
I think it's more likely you're overblowing your own issue here, especially as you seem to be the only one really complaining about it.
most people dont complain they leave. look at the player numbers the last months
this will happen again
you talking nonsense again
I’d also like to mention your complaint is that you have problems with cutting edge tech, which you do not have. You’re a series behind and 2 tiers lower than the max. My point, you can’t claim that you deserve better on the basis of hardware when you don’t have the best hardware. Like I said, you’re being a deva, not to mention the game isn’t even finished. Working on optimizing and churning out more game is tough. Most games aren’t done optimizing until v1.2-1.5
the standart user is behind far more. so its not worth investing work in enabling them to play the game ?
your talking shit again
Again, I would suggest stepping back here.
Some of the language is how threads get locked.
They put system specs in the store page, you agreed to them. And fragile feelings aren’t my problem, I’m calling it as it is
your threatening me cuz of missing competence iam right ?
I dont think that should be attributed to pip tho lol, i think its core gameplay loop doesnt have longevity for 1year+ thats the problem (for me at least).
Though I don't see a reason not to have a PIP toggle, most other milsim-style games have it no? At least until its refined a bit.
Then again I am not very educated on what possible advantages non-pip scoping would have.
look at the steam hardware survey. most people cant even run that game cuz of the perfomance. if you add pip now they will leave quickly
not forgetting the ai issues right now and not dying npcs
I'm at minimum specs and do not have the problems you are having so I don't know what the point is here
nobody talked about min specs get lost
No, he's telling you what will happen if you don't check your tone between personal insults and aggression. Have a debate but calm it down, same with @quiet oxide
So how far behind is the standard user
i multiple times asked them to keep it fact based and professional. but thats not the case they prefere threating me and talking nonsense
thats not even helping in the topic
You lads are getting very worked up over a rendering method for optics.
lmao its getting busy in here now
My understanding is non-PIP just zooms the camera (in most systems) and throws a UI scope over it. My point is, in some implementations the different systems could render things like foliage or lighting differently causing a potential situational advantage to one player or the other. For a PVP game with gear loss it’s a risk.
i hate people protecting something thats proven wrong. and the main statement i made is that the frametimes are an extreme issue wich 90% of the case gets ignored
I'm not for or against anything. I'm just astonished that people with supposedly super computers are doing worse than my shitbox lol
and "iam a dev" isnt a free pass to talk nonsense
or ill tell a mod wont help the argue
I was saying I know what the stuff means, cuz I work on game engines
Yea i think its worth evaluating how non-pip scoping would work in this game and the possible advantages it may have.
If it doesn't do the things you mentioned, why not add the toggle? If it does, it's worth evaluating the tradeoff.
i am also running this game on 4070super. and pip breaks things a lot. devs do not have to refuse or cancel pip, but let player decide in settings, which way he wants to play. i'd prefer no pip. in 99% areas i have solid 120 fps. in voodoo and other alike i have drops to 60 with nvidia double fps. thats just bad. scope is swiming, not moving.
asynchronus rendering plus picture in picture is a frametime hell . you should know that as a dev
if you dont iam right calling out your competence
Why are you so worried about frametimes in a slowpaced mainly PVE tactical FPS
This isn't csgo
its unconfortable, triggers motion sickness, looks and feels awful
a game wants to be fun
thats killing it
sighs There isn't a massive issue. I'm running a 4070 Super, using mostly high setting at 1920x1080, and average a reasonably good frame rate when in PiP.
If you're suffering a drop, it's not because the card can't handle it. It absolutely can. You just need to either set your settings right, or suffer accordingly.
cuz we want to enjoy the game on decent rig,not struggeling
still we talk about frameTIMES not frames
Sorry but if only beefy PCs can run this game on average without issues, you can say good bye to finished game because sales will drop down massively and there wont be money stream to support it and so far, it seems really far from being done if ground zero is intended late game and not even fraction of it is in so far.
You NEED alternatives to things that drop FPS like PIP scopes so even average or below average rigs can run it reliably on decent FPS. Just because some people here have no issue because they are used from 30fps xbox, doesnt mean everyone else should be forced to do same. A lot of people will notice difference between 50 and 70 FPS. Let alone 80-90 and 50 if you ADS into scope. Then throw in frametime, forced smoothing that you have to forcibly turn off by adding lines into config, ADS sense thats not scaling with zoom levels and you end up with game that will push off a lot of newcomers because they cant even aim properly.
This is already niche game, it needs better optimalization or simply ability to choose from certain options to make game run better. Even if it means having black bars around scopes.
stop adding context thats not here
Average human reaction time is 250ms, anything under that is no different either way
1920x1080? are you from late 90-s? 2k is min nowadays
i use 2k
Guys I think we all on the same side.
Obviously no one is against giving player more freedom if there is no inherent advantage to making that choice (I hope at least lol).
Obviously no one wants a setting that makes you have a big advantage over others in PVP.
Use these 2 rationales to evaluate the possibilities and make a decision. That's all MFG can do.
learn to read
thats the best answer i saw today
thanks for being competent
they can remove pip in pvp totally. but let player in pve to decide. thats it.
pvp and pip are bad. agree
i think we can close that threat since skittlez romeos actually pretty much got it on point and most of this is nonsense at all. since too many people take constructive feedback way to personal and start getting unprofessional. the question wasnt for the community from the start more for the dev side.
Its not about reaction time, its about what the inputs do. Combine frame time, low fps in pip scope, propably even frame gen issues because they have to use it in this game, forced mouse smoothing and then mouse sens being all over the place in zoomed scope and bam, you end up with optics that can be used against stationary targets only. I cant hit moving target thats more than 50-70 meters away... I have no such issues in any other game. And i forced mouse smoothing off.
I am just gonna say it.
PC gaming has always been about chasing performance.
I am all for devs pushing boundaries to the limit and if the players do not upgrade, then they are left out.
Yes that is an elite thing to say, but this is PC gaming. Always has been this way.
It is only been the last year years that devs have had to dumb down games for people, since they won't learn on their own.
wow iam impressed. somebody telling facts
Guess what, these are community suggestions for all to discuss. There are no threats and you still seem to not get it with your tone. Continue being condescending and we'll wrap it up, your choice from here.
and the second i turn off frame gen, the scope drops +-40-50% of my FPS and is choppy AF
i dont know what that little power play got to do with feedback ?
i do like how PIP scopes looks, i dont like how much my performance is hit by them in GZW
its value feedback. fact based. like it or not thats not for me to decide its your choice how much value the playerbase got for you.
since i stand in for a selfmade problem by the point of gamedesign and pip is a problem
I’ve never had issues with inputs and I’m sure my latency is high, I wouldn’t know because I don’t track it. End of the day is, be up to spec, have your settings match your hardware, and play the game. It’s not just an art piece, it’s entertainment.
its not about you or me. its about an real existing problem
And there is truth in the sentiment that if you want to play high end games, expect high demands. There are games for lower end pcs coming out even today.
and sweettalking it by your opinion wont help the people having it
4070 super a lower end pc
My point is if you have an issue it’s most likely a you problem
Setting match your hardware
Well. Yeah, actually. a $599 card is on the lower end these days.
60 actually, at 1080
I'm pretty sure that's what this all boils down too, and what I was trying to point out earlier.
No point chasing something that realistically makes no difference
