Capture person of interest for interrogation back at base by Gunny or Handshake
Capture the person at X location and bring them to a designated airfield, they will follow you, it is on you to ensure their safe travel to the LZ and ensure they get on the chopper called specifically for them, harm shall not be done to them. The intel obtained through them at base will unlock you more missions like this and the following missions -
Take out specific person of interest (this differs from say take out the boss at xyz location, makes it more impactful) for Gunny and Artisan
You will get details of their last known whereabouts, a circle will be on the map for you as per usual, you will get a photo of them for intel in the task to look at so you know what they look like -
Recover captured but alive civilians for Lab Rat and Artisan
*Find the person at X location, their location is mildly or heavily guarded, take out the enemies and bring them to a designated airfield, they will follow you, it is on you to ensure their safe travel to the LZ and ensure they ge on the chopper called specifically for them, harm shall not be done to them. * -
Recover captured but alive operators for Gunny and Handshake
Find the person at X location, their location is heavily guarded, take out the enemies and bring them to a designated airfield, they will follow you, it is on you to ensure their safe travel to the LZ and ensure he gets on the chopper called specifically for them, harm shall not be done to them. Apply first aid to them if they've gone through interrogation at their place of capture and are wounded.

Question: In these scenarios, you repeatedly request "harm shall not be done to them". I take it this means they are essentially invulnerable.
If that's the case, what's to stop you having them as mobile bullet soaks? Because that is exactly what will happen if that's the case.
What I mean by this is you should not harm them or you fail, not that they are bullet sponges
and you are to ensure they get back safely, so if they die, you fail
Probably just a fail condition where if they get hurt you fail the mission (GTA has a lot of missions like that)
Not that I play PvP, but as a consideration for those folks, if an enemy PMC kills your HVT, do they get a penalty or are they encouraged to kill them?
I am a believer in they should get a penalty for harming civilians yes
So, they target and kill the PMC then. Does the enemy PMC get to deliver the civilian to safety themselves? Does the HVT just kinda poof out of existence? Do they give up the will to live on seeing their rescuer perish before them, failing the mission?
Personally, it is called “grey zone” warfare for a reason. The devs have said as much. Who’s to say that the HVT isn’t important to your faction specifically, so it’s advantageous for the enemy PMC to kill your HVT.
I'd say if the task is available to them for sure, I'd see these missions end up being contract quests and side quests anyhow. If they don't have the quest the civilian would be equally as free, just not debriefed on what was done to them and whatever intel they could give the PMC, oh and the obvious medical aide. So basically the civilian would just run off, wouldn't be out of the norm for the scenario to end up like that.
Mind you NPC factions could kill them in my eyes, which is why "no harm shall come to them" is mentioned. Not only should you not harm them, but you should safeguard them along the journey. Had to mention for clarification.
Oh and to add on to the last comment where I mentioned they would run off, if an NPC faction comes across them they'd gun them down. We could finally see these NPC factions be cruel in live.
Well right, NPC’s. I only ask these questions because when we have these ideas, we do need to consider how they play in both modes, not just the one you primarily play.
I think the HVT just running off is fine, though, I think it might be immersion breaking for an enemy operator to go up to this person as they’re running away and just follow them while stuck in this eternally panicked run for as long as they can until eventually suicidally running into hostile NPCs that gun them down. Or watching them disappear behind soft cover and when the enemy PMC goes through the same brush, they’re faced with a sheer hillside with HVT seemingly having popped out of existence. There isn’t much of an elegant solution for dealing with the asset if the escorting PMC dies.
I do really like the idea of taking a captain or elite of some kind captive for interrogation to unlock more missions. This was a pretty neat mechanic in Wildlands which is where I’m assuming you got the idea.
Not really got the idea, but having played Wildlands many years back you're kind of right in where I lean in the feel of things.
Given the HVT is in shock, sadly would be the likely outcome in reality. You have to note they are in shock from their situation and then the added shock of those saving them gunned down in front of them.
Hard to perfect those things, I think the running off works fine. If someone wants to chase the guy for 5 minutes straight and then they see them kinda dissapear it’s whatever imo. Those edge cases must be accepted in order to have a feature rich game.
