if LOW setting is supposed to have the performance bump from it why not other presets too + and do not allow to change it at all

since it's very noticeable difference eg. is easier to spot bodies

i am using the higher option to have better game experience, now i will be getting slight disadvantage - should be the other way around if anything

Low setting should not give any one advantage. Which mean in PvP u are forced to use low setting

naive cliff
#

i will need to visit much more places to make screenshots to compare

#

i assume that when you will be in the foliage and aiming you will have advantage over someone with this settings on epic - less obstacles of vision on that level

it's not ready for prod build

# naive cliff it's not ready for prod build

the first one here is bad, probably not intended
but others is just change in shading mostly which was a thing before this update,

on the 3rd gif where you can see in one frame spots being covered by tree branches and on the next one they are not, I don't think it's the Low setting that's just combination of less shading and trees swaying which creates a gap between branches in the distance.

changelog is stating "Vegetation density of small vegetation, such as grass blades, is reduced on low graphics settings"

#

i just don't feel like setting to low currently has an impact only on small vegetation density, it increases visibility from grass and if you are looking at grass covered areas, there are changes in how bushes are rendered and how much sun is dispersed with tree canpy resulting in much more sun reaching ground so previous dark places are brighter

#

yes some spaces are more broken than others and in some spots you can barely notice the difference - but again i don't understand why i should be 'taxed' for playing on better settings

wet needle
#

shading stuff on vegetation that you perceive as change in how bushes are rendering was a thing already before this patch tho

naive cliff
#

and overall the real beneficiary of those changes will not be people with potatoe pc's

naive cliff
#

and less dense vegetation means that someone with setting on low will have better visibility either from that foliage or when enemy is rendered over that foliage

#

it will be easier to spot players at mid distance due to those bald spots without grass for example

wet needle
#

like I said before, if current Low is giving potato PC more frames, which I think it does, I get barely extra 3fps on 6950xt, but someone with 6650 xt is getting 10fps ( 15% increase )
then Low foliage should be locked like it is now and Foliage Quality setting removed.

naive cliff
#

playing on low should create a disadvantage not advantage

naive cliff

as for those 'bugged spots' i've run on quite few in pretty popular areas, map is huge 🙂

# timid hull that sounds like a you problem, i play with low to have more FPS dont care about...

sound more like a you problem to be frank, seems that you did not get the argument i am making here: running the game on lower settings should not give you any advantage other than FPS gain over someone running it on higher settings and like i'm showing here on many comparison screenshots that by running on low you are gaining that advantage - advantage here means that on low you will see more

#

take a look at the screenshots - when you click any thumbnail above it will open in full screen showing animated gif of low settings and epic settings

naive cliff
#

so the issue that i am rising is not that someone has better fps at lower settings since that's the whole point of having lower settings in games or that the game looks worse since it actually does not impact visuals quality that much, but the fact that those low settings are giving an advantage due to the way they are implemented

Bro i do pvp 100% i remember pubg dayz so if you want immersion and all of that shit go play with Epic settings for me i want 200+ FPS and run and gun

naive cliff
#

let's try another angle, what is your opinion on giving same foliage settings [LOW] to all quality profiles, so same foliage density no matter the setting you chose

#

and by the way you are best example to what i've said earlier, people with potato pc's are not be the main beneficiary of this change

and i've been shooting a bit, just not laltley

timid hull
#

i love the low settings and i want em to stay like that

timid hull

hehe

naive cliff
#

well thanks for contributing your opinion to the thread i guess :))

I agree that it people running low should not have a visual advantage against someone who likes to have visuals. Since I play on PvP servers, I do play it on low as it does give a nice bump in FPS while also making it easier to see people in certain situations, which shouldn't really be the case. I would ignore L1nK1, hes a COD player with a competitive only mindset and would say hes a bit self minded at times lmao

i was very competitive in my "quake era" back in the days and first thing you did there was setting picmip to have the textures as blurred as possible if tourney rules allowed it and after time it was obvious that some competitions were played with bright yellow enemy skins - we did everything to have highest fps with best visibility [so also removing gun from screen], even pickups were either 3d animated models or 2d bitmaps so i understand where is he coming from but i think GZW is a different type of game than CS or Quake, or even Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory that ate bambilion hours of my life and where fine tuning the game for best fps was a priority and first thing doen after installing the game by a 'competitive player' - but GZW is not about speed and contrast, much more tactical than sprint somewhere and flickshot at the corner - that's why i react with a rash for every change that let's you have an edge over enemy just because you've used some settings and tha't's why i think that current low setting should be slapped on all foliage quality profiles [the density part]
