#300 Blk and MCX economical re-balance

Yes i stole this from Reddit, but wanted to make sure it's seen as I agree with it.

TL:DR: the current in-game price doesn't represent the MCX and 300 BLK correctly. MCX and 300 BLK aren't top-tier rifle/ammo combo that outperforms a Daniel Defense M4 in 5.56, but the in-game ammo and gun availability are hinting towards that.

Before I get grilled. No, I'm not suggesting buffing 300 BLK to 5.56 NATO level armor penetration.

From my understanding, 300blk isn't meant to "compete" with 7.62x39 or 5.56 NATO. 300 BLK is intended to function in a niche CQB scenario where SOF used to typically engage with sub-guns like MP5. In a way, 300blk should be considered as a more aerodynamic, more powerful .45 ACP while being significantly quieter than 5.56, and doesn't lose as much performance as 5.56 when you put it in a 6 to 9-inch barrel. It's a fat, slow round that does the job quieter than 5.56, in a package that's even smaller than an old MP5SD.

With that said, I think the in-game economy should treat the MCX and 300 BLK as is: a glorified MP5, and thus, a premium EARLY game weapon. There should be limited sales of the suppressed MCX with a 6-inch barrel at Gunny tier 2 or even tier 1. Like 10 or 15 MCX every restock wave. Being exclusive to Banshee, at tier 3, WITHOUT a suppressor makes it borderline pointless as soon as you unlock it. By that time you will have much better 5.56 ammo and M4 suppressors available in bulk from Gunny. 300 BLK FMJ and 300 sub should be made available at lower tier with Gunny. On top of that, stock, unsuppressed MCX isn't worth 5k. It should be 2.5k to 3k max. We're paying tricked-out M4 prices for what's functionally a fancy MP5

The issue with this is the 5.56 family is superior at almost every function in game, except possibly a dedicated sniper role. High fire rate, better moa than comparable weapons, better recoil mitigation, better cheaper ammo that is widely available. Unless the M4 is made less available, it will not be replaced by another weapon.

Agreed, but that's entirely part of it imo.

Make 855 less available, rebalance the cost and availability of things like .300 CQ/AP and you're half way there.

M855 needs to be less effective as it's not AP ammo. It shouldnt be able to get through III+ and should have a higher stop percentage with level III plates that arent UHMWPE. The .300 needs a lower BC/higher drag factor so energy drop off is steeper. That'll make the .300 more effective at closer ranges and 5.56 have less effect to where it's still a solid all round cartridge but once you go beyond about 150m, you'll need .308/7.62. The current ease at which the player can hold the gun still needs to be reworked and that would really bring everything more in line.

Flat shooting M4's are not exactly a myth though. And they are relatively easy to get very tuned in.

Im more talking energy preservation which even high weight (73-77gr) 5.56 doesnt do well.

#

As an example. I was at a match this past weekend and even with a 73gr bullet at 2900fps was having issues moving a full size ipsc at 500+. Any .308 would rock the plate hard. Trajectory irrelevant

Well making the mcx more attractive is easy: make the cq ammo 9$ thats all I want

855 doesn't pen 3+ in game, not sure if it was a stealth change but I use a 20 inch barrel in cqb and it never pens the 6b, the issue is that it's a super lethal round, easy center body mass onetap when irl it's lethality has been called into question. There's no reason to use other 5.56 bought ammo when it becomes available.

Either way the m193 probably should be the default gunny ammo, it's more comparable with ammo the other platforms have as available.

#

Or m193 and m855 penetration performance should be swapped.

Also agree with M193 being the default gunny round.

The fact that M193 isn't the G3 ammo and M855 isn't G4 and limited is wild to me.

Yeah

I mean, pricing for scarcity is a thing, but having it more expensive than better performing ammo makes no sense.

Realistically, shotguns, MP5, MP7, pistols etc and badly maintained AKs should be what's in the starter towns, tier 2 should be similar with the odd M4/Better AKs and better ammo types.

Tier 3 should be where we see M4s, SVDs, 308's etc and best in class ammo.

The MCX isn't a Tier 3 weapon unless you have AP rounds or use a large volume of ammo, the latter is player choice. But unlocking it in those areas is just poor form for the sake of making the new guns harder to get to keep people playing. It's a bad balance and design decision.

You know what I meant, I'm just wording it badly..

They should still have options available to them. Not limited to a single thing.

I wonder if dynamic vendor pricing is possible. That could be really interesting.

Also I will not take this shotgun slander, as well, MP5 and MP7 are T2 weapons at their core

wise basin
#

Yeah, MP5/7 would still work great in T2 areas, I agree. But they need progression from basic ammos which we have. I just think they're unlocked too late currently.

#

(shotguns are fun but slugs are so broken and useless)

SST Sabot is fine for helmets and buckshot is a miracle round.

But yes, you want a tragedy, Libra Snail cost is a meme.

wise basin
#

Yes! Exactly. LS rounds are another great example.

As for Sabot, i've had nothing but a bad time using them. I think they're bugged. Shouldn't need 5 slugs to the chest for a flipflop. Thats another conversation though

As a shotgun-junkie lemme tell ya this, no shotgun ammo is meant for hits outside of headshots. Sabot is to be aimed at helmets, which means that its overpriced for it's lackluster role.

#

But back on point, .300 BLK seems to have been priced to be safe in regards to testing.

Make it ineffective at the start, then buff from there.

At what range?

I've had them stopped in TB mall at under 25m. I think it's often the animation bug we know about, but i think there's more than just that at play.
