Either you died a 2nd time or it's been over an hour.
like the game isnt already easy enough :D
Personally I think they need to expand on it and make it so Faction members can't loot your corpse in PvP if you die and get locked out of it.
People in PvP dont care about dieing, because they just have a squad member drop it. Same with Aggressor status. Doesn't matter if you just have a squadmate
FYI, you may be missing the context behind why you can still see your body. It didn't used to be that way. Your old body used to despawn if you died twice before getting back to it.
But PvP players were exploiting this by suiciding after being killed to deny other players their gear.
That's why you still see your body after dying twice. To prevent overcomplicating the game, PvE and PvP are effectively the same experience minus the ability to damage other players.
What they really need to do is just make the body invisible on the second death for the player who died and that players faction.
Just don't render it for that group. Easy.
I'm going to assume you died running back with a knife...so I will give you some advice.
Artisan has two cheap, high power rifles that dont require detachable mags, if you died in deep, you can scavenge armor and potentially better weapons on the way to your body, do NOT run back with just a knife.
The answer is, because you even remembered where your body was, you simply died on the way back to it, you get one shot to recover it, if you truly care about your kit (me personally its just too much hassle to regear to not be recovering, I don't really care for my kits) try to ensure you will recover it.
no haha i ran back full kit got headshot haha
i was in one of the hardest areas
skill issue on my side i guess
Well that's the problem, you ran back. Should have moved slower, that's what always gets me.
i need to get better
You have an hour to get the gear back, take your time.
True for everyone.
ye i forgot i was in pve mode as i normally never play it as i like the thought of running in to real players but my mate put me in this mode on accident
so i learnt the hard way that it works differently in this mode
AI are better than players ahah
Nah. You just can't fuck around with them - especially in the tier 3 areas.
Going slow, managing cover, not re-peaking ... these are all super important.
Most problems people face is just going too slowly or getting complacent (esp staying in an area that "feels safe").
It doesn't actually, the only difference is that PvP is disabled in Joint Ops.
Yep, both modes are identical except for player damage/friendly fire.
The best advice I can give you is to count to 5 after one shoots at you. If you stop and try to find them and don't see them after 5 seconds, MOVE. Most of the time their first shot will miss. But if you give them time to aim properly, their follow up shots will be much closer to the mark.
The time to not be able to retrieve gear is no longer than roughly 30 minutes, it may be less but I haven't tested that
Nope, it's an hour.
That's what has been found out from testing.
My buddy had to take a phonecall and died. When he came back a little over 30 minutes later, his corpse couldn't be looted
So there are definitely conditions which cause it to be less than that
Did he leave the server or take a long time returning to body?
I don't recall if he dc'd during it tbh, he might have
Given the disconnect period is 15 mins of inactivity and the call was 30 mins, it's quite possible this was the cause of why his body couldn't be looted.
Now that I think about it, why does dcing reduce the time to get your body? I can't actually think of a reason that should be true
I get not holding a server spot for someone for more than 15 minutes, but if you get into the same server, should it be shorter?
In short, yes.
Long version is that people would abuse the despawn mechanic in 0.1 and 0.2, and just disconnected or died to despawn the body, particularly in PvP modes. Players also would force disconnect midfight to preserve gear if they were about to die, and if in a squad, would get reinvited back with everything they had at point of disconnect.
0.3 introduced the principle of leaving the body in world, but if it did then players would just die and farm their gear off their body again till out of danger zones. That's why when you disconnect, you can't loot your body again if you do happen to rejoin the server.
Simply put, this is absolutely intended behaviour to stop people cheating others out of gear from bodies.
So think about it though. If I die, my corpse is supposed to last an hour allegedly. Why should me dcing effect that? I'm not saying other people shouldn't be able to loot it in pvp, but specifically me interacting with my own body.
If you die then disconnect, you stopped everyone from looting your body, yourself included, because it despawned.
In 0.3, now if you disconnect when you die, it is interpreted as forfeiting your right to reclaim, as it should do. If you could just get your stuff back after a disconnect, then it hasn't changed the abuse that would happen.
