As the title suggests, it would be nice if the tab key always opened the inventory instead of the last used panel like tasks or map, etc.

Personally I prefer it being last used panel. But I could see why others want inventory. Maybe a toggle or selector for its function

Can't you just change your keybinds, I changed mine so tab opens up inventory.

Cant do it anymore with the 0.3 I used to swap the inventory key to TAB but now it bugs.

That's weird af, mine still works fine. Should report it as a bug.
