Strongly suggest working on optimizations for the game, the minimum requirements are an 8gb card but with everything on low graphically and dlss on performance the game has hardcore artifacting and crashes are guaranteed, just not ideal since most of the market is on an 8GB card and is not really in a playable state when in the middle of a gunfight you just get sent to desktop, currently running this on a 3070 8GB, ryzen 7 9800X3D and 64GB RAM 6000 MT/s, latest drivers and problems are inevitable every session!
#OPTIMIZATION!

They defintely need to work on texture memory optimization but your GPU is really dispraportionate to your CPU, honestly i'd consider upgrading.
what res are u trying to run the game on
@desert vortex yea that was the plan but the markets so screwed rn that i had to skip out and @grizzled canopy im running on 1440, tried 1080 and the difference was null so i just stick with 1440 since it doesnt look so fuzzy, artifacting and crashes on both
i will say frame rate has never been much of an issue as long as frame gen is off just the artifacting and crashing
scenes like this have black blotches just spamming all over the screen, especially around the chairs under the tent and dirt textures, i think its trying to do the rain effect but even when its not raining it happens
(this was in 1080p)
@cyan finch Set Global Illumination to Med(minimum) but would suggest to go High on you Global Illum.
But yeah, needs optimization so Bad... I run 8gb vram too.
so I am not quite sure why you are running DLSS performance. Try using Quality or even DLAA, maybe that clears up your artifacting. Also try using the transformer model instead of CNN by changing DLSS version to latest in the nVidea app
I am using a 8GB 4060 with everything on Medium and still get 60fps with DLAA and FG (45-50 without FG thanks to PCIE 3.0) and its paired with an ancient i5-9400f. I havent really seen these weird artifacts, but I do know that rain drops are a thing now that can distort and make the illusion of artifacting.
Now I will say though I think 8GB is not enough for 1440p gaming and the game has had a massive CPU workload reduction (I am not longer playing micro stutter simulator on 30fps) BUT yes, VRAM requirements need to drop, it doesnt make sense that at medium textures I run out of VRAM and I do have hope for better performance as the updates roll out
If you're using AI Upscaling, then artifacting occurs a lot more regularly than it should, particularly around light sources.
I'd suggest turning it off if you can - if you're running 1080p then it shouldn't be required anyway, as it's just taking up resources the card could be using to render instead.
These are my post processing settings on a RTX 4070 Super (12GB) settings and it produces a stable 60fps for me with the occasional drop to 45fps during heli flights, which aren't end of the world.
I play on a 2060 laptop with 90 fps on medium settings. I think the game is pretty well optimized for what it is, could use more but it's not in a bad place
My best mate plays on a 2070 just fine. Also You might need to look at optimising your system
Any advice for AMD users? 8GB?
Optimisation is done all the time, but it's Early Access and new things are being added all the time with updates and these things can either boost or dump performance, so optimisation is not something to do once at this stage and have always at best level - a good optimisation is the goal for devs but it's a long process not a short action.
Although the game is now, the v1.0 is out in 2 years from now at best, so - I'm guessing - devs are not going to cut out some things for optimisation now, just to add them in 2-3 yeas because 60xx or 70xx series starts to come around when 1.0 is released.
It would be wasted work.
how come no frame gen turned on
It's not required if you're running at 1080p (as I am), but might be if you trying to run at 4k and upwards.
It is as I said resource intensive, since it's using AI functions to augment and upscale, but if you're running at the lower resolutions, then you're better off putting that computing power into rendering the frames without it.
fair one
Don't get me wrong, you can use it if you really want to to get higher FPS even at those lower resolutions, but I find that it causes more artifacting as the AI tries to do the upscaling and a more inconsistent frame rate as it jitters in the process.
I'd rather have a stable frame rate and less artifacting than trying to push it past to a higher FPS when a stable 60 is just fine.
So does this mean in 1.0 - Minimal 8gb GPUs are pretty much useless at that point? hehe
I wouldn't be surprised. The PC industry doesn't give a shit about us only about money...
No hate on them here, it's just business...
I see PC reviews telling people buying 8GB card today is a shot to own knee.
it also doesnt help the unreal engine 5 is so poorly optimized itself which also makes it harder for game devs like madfinger.
thats also why game devs who make squad are finding it very hard in trying to get the game working for everyone on different pc
I wouldnt call UE5 unoped too badly, games like the finals with massive amounts of destruction and partical effects runs ridiculously smoothly, same with that new extraction 3rd person game, whatever its called with the robots, its possible, just need the right knowhow
It's always fun seeing my 6 year old pc that was the latest and best thing back then now being lower than minimum settings on most new games
Pain in the ass. I was struggling to make a decision: should I buy a new gravel bike or live the dream and get 5090. A new bike is going have nearly same value in 4 years, 5090 is going to be worth 1/4 of todays value. So I went with the bike 🤣
Honestly a great decision. I'm waiting until the 60 and 70 series come out before I even get an rtx 40xx
