Your roles system is strongly mis-informative as it suggests that "half wingers" will respect their defensive and attacking duties "equally"
I have never seen them track back, or be close to the backline, fullback etc. they keep staying up forward, like poachers.
One thing is that 95% of us wants the old tactical system, the other thing is what you can do in meantime. Fix this sh*t

Agreed roles need a rework, since as you said players don't do what the role actually describes half the time or they follow the positioning far to rigidly to where they won't run into the clearly open space.
