Manual defending is very poor. In competitive gameplay, manual defending leaves a lot to be desired. When you get close to opposing players, it’s impossible for me to win the ball. The defenders feel heavy and slow, and they even tackle in the opposite direction. No wonder people defend with the AI if manual defending is terrible, to put it mildly. I really hope they fix this issue in the next patch, because it can’t continue like this.

Yes, right now defending is basically all AI. Manual defending has become very difficult. When they release the next patch, they’ll nerf AI defending, but they should also buff manual defending and reward players who actually control their defender.
