This is my first EA FC game — the last football title from EA I played was FIFA 23. Honestly, my impressions of EA FC 26 are terrible. I know the FIFA and EA FC titles are basically two completely different games, but back in FIFA 23 I could consistently reach Division Rivals Rank 1, and now I can barely make it to Division 6.

Like I said, I get that FIFA and EA FC are two different worlds, but right now playing EA FC 26 just isn’t fun at all. I’m curious if anyone else feels the same way about the gameplay. I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about the AI being too strong defensively, but I’m honestly not even sure about that — I just played Gauntlet, and every second opponent simply ran straight forward while my defenders did absolutely nothing to stop them.

I also have no idea how to defend properly. Manual tackles feel completely useless. Players who don’t even sprint and just dribble around slowly — like people using Claudia Pina or similar agile cards — are almost impossible to dispossess, even when jockeying or timing tackles perfectly.

Then there are through balls — the game doesn’t seem to reward creativity in attack at all. I can make ten clever passes in a row and get nothing, while a simple RB-through ball to a striker completely breaks my defense because my defenders lose their minds.

Normal passing is also a mess. Playing with players who don’t have the Tiki-Taka PlayStyle feels impossible, since only those with that PlayStyle seem to pass the ball properly. Most passes don’t even go where I’m aiming with the left stick — it’s incredibly frustrating.

Another issue is that sometimes it feels like my opponent and I are playing two completely different games. Maybe it’s a skill difference, sure — but I’ve had so many situations where my opponent’s defenders intercept every through ball with ease, while mine literally run away from the ball at times.

To sum it up — honestly, this is the worst EA football game I’ve personally played. Even older FIFAs were much more enjoyable; at least you could actually have fun while playing. I genuinely feel that if it weren’t for the card evolution system, most players would’ve already quit.

I’d really like to hear your thoughts on the current gameplay and, if possible, any tips on how to deal with the problems I’ve described above.

What genius decided that tiki taka is an individual skill/playstyle when it’s a “team” tactic. Clearly shows none of the developers or decision makers watch the game or even played it. So @main pier explain to us why a basic fundamental skill like 1 touch passing is so piss poor and overcomplicated…

You’re right for the most part — I can see I’m still making a lot of big mistakes. I’ve been playing for less than a month, and at first, the gameplay felt difficult mainly because of how strong dribbling was, especially for players with the right playstyles. Then there was that short period after the dribbling nerf (when using RB), and honestly, that was the time I enjoyed the game the most. It felt balanced, and I actually felt like I was improving.

But after the latest patch, the gameplay feels awful again. There are so many situations where you, as the player, literally can’t do anything better — you react correctly, but the game just doesn’t respond properly. I know that sounds like the classic “blaming the game instead of myself,” but sometimes it’s just absurd. For example, today my 86 Pogba passed the ball to Walker at right back even though I pushed the stick the opposite way, towards my winger. Of course, Nico Williams intercepted and scored. Stuff like that is just incredibly frustrating — it feels like the game takes control away from you in key moments.

I also know many people say this year’s gameplay is much better than the previous versions, and honestly, if that’s true, I can only say — I really feel for you guys for having to play something even worse than this.

Keep doing the same thing until one of you gets lucky enough to get down the wing. Play the ball to the corner flag, ping pass it into the box, and take a first-time shot. If you’re lucky, you score if not, you get a short corner and score anyway. Repeat this over and over until you finally download a different game.

Theres no real punishment for someone doing so because their AI CB will track the run and auto tackle them when it happens. Why use a CB to defend whats infront of you when the AI does it better with less error? Also, why use a CB and defend whats infront of you when, for some reason, you can tackle a ball carrier from behind with your CMs? its doesnt make sense

For me they did the right thing that was to release a fast paced responsive gameplay. The issue is with the community this time. They release what we’ve been asking for years and when we have it the community starts to cry because they prefer to not learn how to play

The game in release had real potential. I think defending did need a bit of help cause not every game should have 15 goals in it and there should be reward for manually defending. But as usual EA went too far and made the AI ridiculous and nerfed R1 at the same time
