act counts AoE damage, meaning if your skills hit to the robots it also counts as dps for it. You should use Caera's dps meter, it only counts damage dealts to boss. I am sure she will do some special discount for you

early on i just craft spam tower for insignia ap gain and rare elements go into purple psyche crafting, once u have 2k+ from that, buy outfit and sell for gold, and try to win any purple books from bid and sell w/e u get, always maintain 100+ gold and 2k gems, rest can be spent.

i've just been consistently selling psyches i craft and get dropped, and any cores i get and blue books too. I try not to do any gambling like rolling for purple books myself, yea luck plays a part when it comes to opening a purple book from a bid or getting core drops, but everyone gets lucky at some avenue of the game at some point, whether its accessory drops, winning psyche rolls
