#Failed to Connect to services error. Was able to connect earlier
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
you likely have some sort of local process/service blocking your traffic from reaching us
what steps have you taken so far?
i mean im not sure what it would have been, nothing has really started up since i was playing this afternoon.
might sound dumb but have you restarted your pc since this happened?
yes actually just a few minutes ago.
do you know how to reach safe mode?
i want to confirm if it is something local stopping it
yah let me do a restart and see what happens.
also, fair warning. i may be a bit slow responding. doing homework thats due in 2-ish hours
thats alright. when i let asor know he told me to tag you in the bug report.
thats fine. i just want to point out that im a bit in and out rn lol
dont want you to wait for me for forever as a just in case
no worries, just a quick question im not banned or something like that right?
no no. youd know if that was the case lol
i thought so, but just checking all possibilities
this error comes from just flat out not being able to connect to us.
if you were banned, youd still be able to connect to our database so it can see if it needs to block you or not
in safe mode with networking on still same error
boot back into regular mode
we'll try using a free vpn service rq and see where that takes us
ProtonVPN has some mixed results. after its installed and youre connected. try using he launcher
so im connected to it right now. this means that all i have to do now is run the launcher, no config in the vpn correct?
okay it popped up.
shouldnt need one no. its a generic vpn service. not a specialized one with a specific location
were you able to get in?
yah. odd.
is it possible its a router setting or your ISP?
like i literally have no idea whats stopping me from getting in. it's fiber. it connected earlier with no trouble. the only thing i did as far as changing my pc was just doing a gpu driver update.
i mean i can check that i guess, never had to port forward anything like that before.
some routers have generic lists that are updated from their manufacturers that prevent connections to certain things. same goes for ISPs and those lists are shared
this wouldnt be a port forward thing
hm. okay so im guessing i wont be able to play this game without a vpn for the time being. that's so odd. like this was never a problem before.
wonder what may have flagged it.
thats always how problems get you. something's working then it doesnt out of nowhere and life sucks
alright well when i get a moment i'll give my router a restart and see if that fixes anything or changes anything. otherwise i'll see what life gevo life with a vpn is like. at some point i may try installing it on linux to see how it goes
id love to change to linux but i dont want to troubleshoot something every 6 hours
if you have a spare drive id say try installing windows on it to see if its something you have installed blockig it or not. a fresh windows install usually fixes most things
if you're talking about gevo, then i wont take that chance. everything else has given me 0 isssues with little configuration.
not just gevo. just using it daily
always a good thought, because windows 11 has been interesting to say the least with audio cutting out every now and then from my interface.
try checking out Talon.
it removes a lot of background junk and blocks content updates. just has security updates
its a windows debloating tool
thats an option then.
i havent used it myself but it seems to be relatively effective from what ive seen
im luckily still rocking the outdated windows 10
would rather less security than my shit being bricked
@dire rain out of curiosity what's your Antivirus?
just the windows defender
ok. nvm then.
Was going to bring up third party ones causing issues from time to time
every time i try to log in with steam theres a gateway error from cloudfare
theres an error on the host
@hearty monolith
Should be fixed now, please try again!
Wanted to do an update on this on my original issue: I use ATT fiber.
Using Proton VPN did work , despite some lag here and there.
Restarting my router fixed the issue and I was able to connect without a VPN last night.
I will monitor this going forward in case any more updates need to be made.
