#AU-SI Jackrabbit Bounce to Pierce Rework

Right now the Jackrabbit has the ability to bounce your shots and when you do bounce your shots you gain increase damage and your shots apply fire. Their are even upgrades that give you more bounces and work off bouncing your shots. Below are all of the upgrades that interact with bouncing in some capacity:


Ghosting - Rare - Bullets phase through targets if they haven't bounced yet

Power Ricochet - Epic - Bullets gain an extra bounce. Damage increases with each bounce

Friction Compensators - Epic - Damage falloff is reset when a bullet bounces

Opening Charge - Epic - Bullets apply shock before bouncing```

There are only 5 upgrades that have to deal with bouncing, however all of these upgrades are completely useless because of how the current 4 regions are very open. Friction Compensators could actually be pretty good if we had a map that was more enclosed and if reinforced coating could stack. If you could stack reinforced coating to get a lot of bounces and we had a map that allowed for big bounce potential then I could see friction compensators being really good as your shots would always do max damage as they are bouncing everywhere. The same goes for Power Ricochet which would be a staple in bounce builds as each bounce would increase damage. And ghosting...nah see you thought I was going to say something about ghosting always being bad but that is where you are wrong bucko. Ghosting could be a great upgrade as if we got more upgrades that added effect to AFTER your shots bounce and said effects where key to your bounce build then you would want your shots to phase through so you could get your bounce build going without them bouncing off the first enemy and being useless. 

However unless we get maps that are more enclosed and more upgrades that work off bounce like gaining a stacking buff when your bullets bounce or when your bullets bounce they cause an explosion or something like that, bouncing will be pointless........wait....**EVEN THEN BOUNCING IS STILL USELESS!!!!!!!!** Why would I want to bounce my shots in hopes they hit what I am aiming at when I can just aim my shotgun at its stupid *yet cute :3* face and blast that shit smooth off!

This were we get the main topic of this post and I no longer have to do setup up. The bounce should be converted into pierce. This would work way better with the current design of the maps and more likely future maps too. Pretty much no one bounces their shots because why do that when you can just shot at what you are wanting to kill. Changing bounce to pierce would allow Jackrabbit to become a add clear machine (Even thought it already is) and would just be more fun. Instead of gaining damage and dealing fire damage on bounce it would be *gain increase damage and apply fire after piercing* and you start of being able to pierce a single time. Converting all the upgrades would like this:

Straight up, ghosting is gone because I couldn't think of something for it without straight up changing it completely into a new upgrade. 

While I think the bouncing bullet is a cool concept with maps being really open it leads the feature being under used and just being flatout useless. Having piercing instead would better coincide with the open maps and large groups. Unless the devs are planning to make more maps that are more enclosed and allow to the bouncing to better work and give it more bounce related upgrades, I strongly feel it should be changed to pierce.

ill say that i agree on the basic concept that bounce is rough in the current state of the game. if this were something like a corridor shooter itd be no problem. but where i think we will disagree is that not everything needs pierce, the jackrabbits identity is bounce.

However the problem I have with that idea is it is just sidestepping the bounce. While I like the idea, it shows that no one actually wants bounce, you would rather have them track onto target then have them bounce everywhere. It also shows how bad bounce is, even if we did get maps that supported bounce, I think people would still use an upgrade like this because it get your shots onto target faster

I also agree that bounce is jackrabbits identity, I just think that bounce is bad and honestly while I suggest pro-bounce maps (and still do) I am not even sure they would fix bounce. I still feel like bounce would be a bad effect

And with most maps probably being very open it just leads to bounce being a really bad effect that no one will really use

I will also agree that not everything needs pierce however something needs to be done about this as a core part of the weapon is just not used by most people

I do think titan city and kind of flourishing desert should be soft reworked to have more ceilings/overhangs

and then give jackrabbit innate tracking on bounce and improve the after-bounce upgrades

I mean I think tundra and farms are fine as they are right now, they've got plenty of places you can shoot the ceiling to get downwards bounces which would be cool with better bounces

city and desert just don't really have that option

Make it so that it's got better raw damage firing it straight up but so that bounces have a degree of tracking, deal less damage, and inflict fire

Then upgrades can improve the tracking and specialize the bounces more

Make bounced shots scatter so that they're distributed over a wider area for crowd control, especially if you shoot a ceiling

And/or bounced shots will avoid going after the same target too many times

#

That way you use direct shots to crunch and munch on heavier enemies and you use bounced scattershots to ignite crowds of grunts
