In game items are held to strict texture file sizes and polygon counts that mods don't need to care about
It's why mod folders will end up the same size or bigger than game files because modders will do 4k or 8k texture maps whereas a game devleoper will be 2k or lower for small assets

Honestly… I don’t even know where to start.

Character creation in Paralives is easier to get into than inZOI. It’s simple, unique, and fun without being too overwhelming.

But inZOI’s drag system? Yeah… that feels smoother and more precise. Paralives gives you more flexibility overall, but inZOI feels more polished in that specific area.

Now let’s talk visuals…

THE HAIR… 😭
SOME OF THESE HAVE TO GOOOO. WHO APPROVED THIS??
BUT — I will say — the variety and Black hairstyles? Love that. The edges?? Ate. Representation?? We see you 👏

That’s something Paralives genuinely does well — it feels more inclusive, whereas inZOI leans more toward a specific (more Asian-inspired) style overall.

Now the textures… hmm.
I’m not even gonna be rude — I’ll just say the art style is very stylized. If you like it, you like it. If you don’t… you REALLY don’t.

The world though? Actually pretty. Like okay scenery 👀

Performance-wise… yeah.
It can feel clunky and a bit laggy at times — but to be fair, it’s still in development and made by a small team. So I won’t drag it too hard… just a light drag 💀

Now gameplay…

This is where I started side-eyeing.

Why do I need to fill a whole bar just to unlock actual conversations?? Let me talk PLEASE.
Interactions can feel repetitive after a while.
Emotions happen… then disappear like “oh we’re fine now?? okay??”
Autonomy is there… but sometimes they just stand around like 🧍

Like sir… you are hungry. Do something.

Some systems feel a bit limited depending on what you expect from a life sim — especially if you like more freedom or chaos.

ALSO… relationships be doing the most.
Why are random people catching feelings out of nowhere?? Who told you to have a secret crush on my sim?? Stay focused 😭

AND WHY ARE THEY LEAVING CONVERSATIONS BECAUSE THEY’RE TIRED??
If I said sit, YOU SIT.

NPCs can feel very same-y too.

But to be fair, there are good things:

Customization is solid
Building tools are flexible — you can do a lot with them
Personality traits feel more realistic (early bird, night owl, etc.)
Inclusivity and representation are strong points

So yeah…

After all this time, it’s clear the game has good ideas and real potential — but it still feels like something that’s growing into itself rather than fully there yet.

Final thoughts:
It has good qualities…

It’s giving:
“Wait… this could be really good… just not there yet.”

Personally, I prefer inZOI.

We planned to play for an hour… got frustrated at the 1-hour mark… and yeah — refunded.
