My feeling on Paralives is that it will sell well because there is a specific type of player within the Sims 4 community ( not 2 or 3, specifically 4) that has been conditioned for over ten years to accept buggy and boring gameplay. They make up for this by relying almost exclusively on mods and also by taking lots of beautifully posed images and pretending its gameplay. They will be able to continue this relationship with a new game without feeling the guilt of being tied to Electronic Arts and the shadiness of the past year. Just my take on the toxic players that are now latching onto Paralives, I'm not saying all Sims 4 players are like this, I interacted with Sims 4 for many years myself. I do hope Paralives brings joy to all who purchase it, it's really all we want from our games, some joy in our hobbies.

Im a Sims 2 lover (honestly my baby) and I can't wait. It gives me Sims 2 vibes. The personality system, the passion, etc. Im hoping they can iron out the bugs and lag bc it's a LOT. But if this game poses any type of challenge Sims 4 players might not like it. They like the appeal of a more dollhouse sim than a life sim (which i like to sum up as keeping my Sims happy and alive lol)

I really enjoyed Sims 2 as well, I still consider it to be the star of the series.

Definitely agree that Sims 4 is dollhouse gameplay, which I'm not knocking, dollhouses are fun for a reason, but it's not much more than that

Paralives has been close to a decade in the making and the devs do seem dedicated and so I hope that spirit continues thru the games early access period and full release. The people who have invested in Paralives deserve to see it all come to fruition

Yes, but not now. The game needs to be highly optimized, a lot of bugs needs to be addressed and waiting for more content to be added. For me personally, doing quests all the time and collecting would get me bored quickly. I have already seen where quests and goals are being repeated once you go through them all with the parafolks. Additionally, from what i've seen, the relationship and personality systems are very surface level once you really get into it. Overall, great foundation to many systems in place, just waiting for them to cook more so I can enjoy it.

Tbf the Paralives community in their official Discord isn’t excusing legitimate issues or just complaining to complain. The tone of the discussion depends heavily on which site you’re on (and who moderates it), and it’s been the same for me with inZoi

I think it also shows which people weren’t around for the inZoi release last year because a lot of the debates outside Discord about early access quality are just repeating points we’ve seen before. I’m glad another new lifesim exists because in theory that reduces pressure on both games to do everything players demand – especially right away!

Also, I don't feel bad for Paralives.

They had 7 years to develop, granted it's a small team. However, if the project is too ambitious, no one is stopping them.

I believe people supporting them merely because they are "indie" is a bias that shields them from constructive criticism.

Inzoi was only a year old when it was released. People criticized it without even wanting to give it a chance because it's a big company game (there was also constructive criticism), but no one wanted to see that it was very much an incredibly new early access game.

I had been waiting for six years for Paralives, and I am so proud of how far they have come. I believe they will still have their own fanbase, even if there's a very small chance it's not as popular as other life sims.

Inzoi just has a lot of problems still, the gameplay just simply isn't there yet, I get bored easily in live mode. When gameplay isnt interesting enough to engage player long periods, not even mods can save it. Also does not help that the modding policy turns off majority of modders

From what I've seen though, Paralives actually has a better personality system and emotions that actually affect gameplay. Like if they are stressed from a kitchen fire, certain needs are frozen, and then you would need to raise a positive emotion by dancing for example to relief stress? so it goes away
