I never really liked themed content in Sims. I was a collector in Sims 1, 2 and 3 and would literally get every DLC but the only exceptions were the Katy Perry kit and the IKEA kit lol

Honestly I used to be SO AGAINST subscription models years ago but
Then I played a lot of MMORPGs that didn't do subscription models and it's microtransaction hell and somehow even more grindy than things like WoW and FFXIV
And they can be some of the most punishing if you stop playing for a bit
At least with FFXIV, you can get 90% of that game from just £7.69 a month and I can stop paying for months on end and then come back where I left off

That said though I just pay subscription when I want to play I never auto renew subscriptions

See I used to really like Elder Scrolls and GW2 but they both charge for QOL and it's how they make money

I will say FFXIV took me a few tries to get into originally but once I got into it
I got into it
ARR to Endwalker, even though starts slow
Is one of the best stories I think I've ever seen told in game
Not because it's 100% perfection but because it REALLY understood how to use the medium of MMORPG
