Nashville I can't speak on as I've only ever been to Eastern TN, like Bristol/Gatlinburg area, but I'm only a couple hours from those other cities. Charlotte is def more city-like but it's not anything unmanageable, definitely lots to do and great shows often come through the area if thats your sort of thing. Tri park area is very nice, more slowed down but still fairly modern, plus the mountains are gorgeous
