The takes I’ve seen from ppl who dislike it have mainly been ppl who were very used to WoWs version of healing. IMO neither way is wrong or right but personally I prefer ffxivs version. You’re allowed more versatility and tbh it requires significantly more skill to switch between dps and healing and managing your mp and timing so that no one drops while you dps. superior system imo. Very challenging.

I'm a DPS main in every game I play so I think it sounds nice. It's probably made for people like me. In some games devs run into the problem that people don't just want to soak damage or just heal HP bars. By letting them DPS and be more engaging they can temps the most popular class, DPS, to try healing or tanking.

This. There is a fine line to balance when you let a tank or healer put out decent damage. After enough patches and changes, if they put out too much damage then why play a DPS? The healers can do just as much damage. Overwatch 2 had this problem for a while.

You can get ship insurance an things but yeah it can be brutal, especially if it's an extremely expensive ship. You don't lose your characters / skills etc tho.

Plus your corp (guild) will always help you out. An if you're part of a big alliance everyone reports enemy movement if spotted so you can dip out into a safe place before they take a jump gate to your area. It's such a badass unique game.

Wars in it are insane, literally ran like irl, you'll have like a few of the big boys of the alliance guiding everyone else, organising between other leaders on enemy movement, ya'll follow their leads, listen to orders an hope you get some kills 😄 it's insane, especially when there's a few hundred ships fighting all around you.

Yes you can choose not to. Some classes are better for that than others. White mage for example is usually seen as the pure healer (aka my main). You’re at most expected to throw out a few aoes on packs but that’s about it and most of the time I don’t. The only time dps is required is when it’s clear there’s not enough from the dps members. But good dps usually means you’re not really needed for damage.
