I want as many good games of a genre as possible, competition encourages the best from all dev tems and their lead (and even the big corpos).

But some genre only ever seem to get poor clones of those types of games.
Like nothing has beaten Master of Orion 2 or X-Com (the one from 1994-ish).
All remakes/clones sucked. If nothing can beat Sims2 or maybe (I hope) InZOI, then... good, but I hope they dont sit on their laurels like Warcraft did 🙂

If you wanna play but kinda not, but kinda at the same time.
Make a new game say in Bliss Bay, and either just get into game and play as a premade zoi of one of the premade families and try to improve their house and lives... Or make a new member of said family and try to respect the looks of said family (no Caucasian in a Afro-American family and vice-versa) and self insert yourself in that family... Or roleplay they adopted a child (turn one of your favorite zoi into a child and join that family).

That has been super fun for me when I don't want to think to hard about a new epic game or something serious like that.

I have all of my saves from the very VERY first one. The one I made on April 13th 2025 or something, sometimes I fire it up just for kicks. The fact it's still playable and everything works is a testament on how well the game was programmed, and how good it is to keep old saves working (even though not all bugs will be fixed).

The only thing that mess this original game up is the new aging group length of 0.2.0 which really mess everything up. But other than that ? Works like a charm. My dad will die very quickly if I play it as I started him as an adult (and I a child), but at least I reach teenager before he passes so I can still inherit everything.

In my original playthrough of that game, he lived a senior up to 87 and he could meet his grandchildren.
Urrgh, now I want to fire that game up again, heh.

I just need to install my "realistic age groups" mod before loading that game, I think.
Otherwise it messes-up every zoi's age.
Typically everyone that was playing an active game going from 0.1.0 to 0.2.0 had decades of life robbed off of them if they where at any point after young adult. I've seen 2 streamers get hammered by that change (and I got hit pretty bad too).

What a bad change that was. But otherwise old games play fine.

I have a high end PC in my house but my husband is using it for his business. I can't get another PC until we pay off our daughter's wedding. So it's Geforce for now. It runs amazing, I saw minimal difference in the high end pc install and the Geforce cloud gaming. I do have very high speed internet and I pay for the premium tier, so I think that does help a lot with the stability of Geforce

The mod issue is annoying though. You basically have to redownload them each time you open a cloud session. I never play with too many but I can imagine anyone who uses a lot of them is going to find it tedious to keep adding them.

I hope they don't pull a Netflix but it's become so popular and apparently there will be a graphics card shortage so I'm not holding my breath lol

It makes it possible to make something I thought about but did not have room to manage.
Something like 3 > 4 > 7 > 7 > 7 > 28 > 21 > 21 > 28
So basically I use the week system, and still have a very large young adult and adult stage, without sacrificing the later years,
In this example, it's a 126 days old template, which I'll extend to 130 but chances are elders will die before then as it's the max age. It will feel more like pre-0.2.0 in the sense that each week of elder life (after the first), they will have a chance to die or something.

I'll need to fiddle with this and test it out if I can find time.

We received acknowledgement on the UI options selection (I hated the 0.2.0 change) possible to select the classic one (and I hope it 100% is, not just part of it), great news.

Also mention on age sliders (Finally, better late than never, too bad they weren't ready by december as was planned and looks unlikely will be ready in 2 weeks of update, but you never know)
and "adjusting" routines. (Just let me press an off switch for those. They are too invasive and annoying as they are now).

Great news, but for InZOI I've learned to temper every and all good news with a heavy dose of skepticism to stay sane 😹

Honestly tho a minor mod to fix most of the aging issues (it goes WAY to quick after young adult) can be fixed easy now that (as you found out) you can up the max age of zois. We could keep everything as is (as bad as the Toddler and Teenager groups are, length-wise) and just add extra years to the later groups

the biggest issue with aging for me is how if you have an aging mod in and you save a zoi it 'fixes' their age even if you upload it to canvas

so if you dont have the mod, their age gets screwed

Personally I hate it, but I know many ppl that love it.
The menu options are perfect for things like this, where the old version was working perfectly, but so is the new one. Everyone can have their cake and eat it.

I'm still puzzled why they wanted to change it... I guess ppl with poor eyesight playing in 95000x62500 complained it was too small or something.

It's the same deal with the small talk bubbles and the Age group preferences

And the routines (artificial needs depletion, forced sleep at 11pm and wake up at 8am,eat when not hungry, wash when already clean, etc).

I came across a bug and want to share the solution so you can understand and apply it if you encounter the same issue.

When creating a character and trying to place it in Canva, the game would crash. After investigating, I discovered that the problem was related to ReShade. Uninstalling ReShade from the game resolves the issue and everything works correctly.

This notice is especially relevant for those using ReShade: if you run into this problem, temporarily uninstall it to place your character. You can reinstall ReShade afterward. However, each time you try to place a character with ReShade active, you will need to repeat this process.

I hope this helps those who need it.

I don't know if this applies to a lot of people, but I ran into it. There was a forum post about clearing cache files for each graphics card manufacturer: they say to delete this directory: C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache But even if I put my actual username into that path, it does not exist. Hopefully, clearing out all the other ones will make it work properly, because it keeps getting slower every time I run it.

That being said, I've never played a game like this, and again, I never had access to a 4070 Super before. Because of this game, I am getting my fans checked. I know the fans run loud when the game is being played; however, after the game was closed, I noticed my fans were a little bit louder than usual.

Barring the fact that I have hypersensitive hearing, my computer is a year old and I think it's a good idea to get my fans checked. I have made an appointment to do just that. I did not know that I left the game running one night and did not know that my computer does not go into sleep when the game is running. I also did not know that my graphics were on ultra because ultra graphics were like a pipe dream to me.

When I checked them, I was in shock that they were running on ultra. So, we'll see if that had anything to do with it.

Unfortunately, for my fans' sake, I have to run the game one last time before I get my system looked at, because I need to be able to reproduce what's been going on.

I haven't really used the Steam Overlay. How do we enable it? Or are you saying that the game would run faster if it wasn't enabled? Because it isn't enabled. could it be running slower because my hard drive is failing? Or something more sinister like that? the computer is only a year old and I keep it in as good of condition as possible.

But I have to have other people do hardware things because of my disability. Even though I know how to do said hardware things, I just do not want to even think about the prospect of one of my drives failing.

What are acceptable CPU temps for an i7? There's got to be some reason for it. I'm not sure why Ultra graphics would be a problem, because you hit Auto-Choose and it goes to Ultra.

Another reason for a game running slow is if you have other background processes running. Try closing out other programs and processes and see if that helps

I'd convert to self-contained liquid cooling, but it's a mid-tower and I don't know if the components would fit.

They do have liquid-cooled variants of my system, but I got the air-cooled one on sale for $300 off after Christmas last year. I could not pass that up, considering I had a 2070 Super in my last rig.

If I could physically get my hands in the system, there's a lot of things I would do differently, but alas. 😔 My disability says sorry, no, maybe in your next lifetime.

So I am stuck with prebuilt builds. There is a local guy here that could probably do a really good job on a custom setup, but convincing my mother that that would be the way to go is a whole different story. The woman had the original white MacBook for like 15 years. My brother got fed up one day, said, "That's it," and got her a MacBook Air. He transferred seven terabytes of photographs (she is an excellent photographer) over to external storage and the cloud.

I love that woman, but she is not computer literate beyond photos and emails, so she kind of blanks out when you talk to her about hardware and why you need it her answer to my asking for new components would be, "The computer is only a year old. What did you do to break it?"

I may actually calmly tell her that The Sims is dead and inZOI has eradicated The Sims but is resource heavy and my hardware doesn't play nice, and see what kind of look I get from her

So I have to wait to get another one and I can't justify getting a pre-built because it's not worth it in the end. Is there any way I can lower the graphics settings in Steam so that when I click the desktop icon it automatically knows not to use Ultra even when it loads?

I don't know if the fans are 120 or 140, and I don't know how many fan slots there are, but there are four fans running. I got nervous when one of my fans was spinning slower than the others.

I do have an ace up my sleeve in terms of figuring out what's wrong and what can be done about it: I am blessed and cursed with hypersensitive hearing. I thought there might be an issue when the fans made weird noises even after the game was closed. You hear your basic jet engine fans while the game is going, but everything is a little bit more sort of squeaky.

I also did not know that the graphics were so intense on resources. I accidentally left my computer on one night, thinking it would go into sleep mode. But I guess it doesn't go into sleep mode when the game is on full screen, so that was not helpful at all. Like I said, I've never been able to run anything on Ultra graphics, let alone this. I was absolutely speechless and floored.

And I said, "Well, it's either money into liquid cooling and or new fans, or $1,500 to $2,500 for a new graphics card, and the computer is only worth $1,200 so."The funny part is that I am math learning disabled and have trouble with everything from algebra to adding three numbers together. I have no problem rattling off that information.

Basically, how I do math nowadays is take the value of my computer and divide it into large numbers and say, "How many rigs can I buy with that?" Straight up. Not even joking. Although when you get into really large numbers, like the cost of cars or houses, that is over my head. I'm also getting better at grocery shopping. Anyway, sorry for the tangent.

The point is that new fans should not be something Mom says, "Oh, hell no" to.

Liquid cooling has always kind of intimidated me, even the self-contained ones. It just seems so counterintuitive; water can damage a computer, so why the heck would you want to use it to cool your computer? It kind of boggles my mind how it can actually do that.

Although I'm not going to lie, I've always wanted custom liquid cooling with purple coolant, as purple is my favorite color, of course.

But I would never be able to do maintenance on liquid cooling myself, and the only person that I would trust with this maintenance has passed away. So it remains one of those computer bucket list things.

If I can't play on Ultra, should I just go down one level lower or two?

And will going lower ruin the immersion of it, or is the immersion based on the fact that everything is so well thought out and intricate? I keep saying the Sims could never and would never because they chose money over imagination and made people believe that they were constrained by budget. But when you get famous without toilets, I lose respect every time I play InZOI, my mind is kind of blown every single time even though I've only had the game for like two months

The most I've ever been without a computer is two weeks, and it was hell for me and everyone else because of my anxiety level. So, I absolutely understand what's going on with you.

I am kind of upset at the prospect of maybe having to leave my computer with them to fix. So is everybody else, because they know my anxiety level will go up by at least 10 times. I feel you, and here is a hug. 🫂

Although now that I think about it, when I was very young (like 10 or so), my parents put an addition on the house so I would not have to share a room with my sister. My computer at the time was near where the stairs were going to be put, so they sat me down and told me that I couldn't play computer until the renovations were done because of the dust.

My parents had a very hard time redirecting my attention. I remember me and my father doing a puzzle of a picture from space, but after that, the most I've ever been without a computer is two weeks. You'll do a great job getting through it.

I'm going to go lower my graphics by two levels and see how that affects my immersion and I will let you guys know. Thanks for being so cool

Well they could add one or 2 characteristic slots.
Most ppl I talk to say they would like 4. I do not disagree, but the current selection is pretty bad with those we have. If we are to get faithful and other stuff later, then it would be nice as it would vary my very large family. Right now they have mostly the same characteristics as I refuse to take negative ones... I'm surprised but not at the same time tbh. I think we have a surprising amount of people who don't come from a Sims background and are interested in the game because of the graphics.
Meanwhile I think a lot of people who'd fall into the low category probably can't play at all.
It's honestly kinda not that difficult to run this game at high-ultra on gaming PCs if you're playing at 1080p, it's not like a life sim really needs a smooth 60fps. But yeah if you don't have a GPU at all it's just not gonna run

DLSS & FSR can do a lot of heavy lifting too

1. many players still play at 1080p
2. because it's a sim game, you don't need much fps, maybe cap at 60 fps most, i even play it at 45
3. dlss + frame gen are the "key players" here
