basically my "issue" was/is that turning on the skin and lighting enhancements in U+ makes a pretty positive difference to how peeps look in the game imho, but in combination with Reno it does cause face/skin colours to change a little bit
but like MPaul said - not really in a bad way that needs to be fixed - just looks a bit diff vs vanilla

When using specialk and renodx I get weird borders on top and left in expediton33. Using just renodx — no problems. Don’t remember if I tried just specialK, but I think I did and there were no problems either.
I remember having the same problem in some other game, I think lords of the fallen (also ue5)
Couldn’t google anything, do you guys know any fixes?
The borders are not constant, they do disappear sometimes, and sometimes get crazy bright
Additional things you can do for MOAR BUUUUTIFUL - you just gotta see if the performance impact is worth it for you:

download the optional 4K FMV cutscenes and 4K FMV cutscenes fix add-ons from the mod's Nexus page (and install version 0.9 of Lyall's ClairObscurFix for improved playback of prerendered cinematics) - should have very little performance impact but the prerendered cutscens look quite a lot better

set BetterReflectionSDFs = on (pretty noticeable image quality improvement with not massive FPS hit)

Denoiser = rayreconstruction if you have an Nvidia GPU and have the performance headroom (this is one of the more significant ones from a perf perspective, have not directly compared FPS myself but others have reported like a 15% impact iirc - visual difference is worth it imho)

Hi guys I have a problem. How to stop renodx hdr working in a right way. The circumstance is I have 2 monitors,one of them support hdr lovely and another don't, I usually shift between these 2. But when I want to run the game in sdr, switching to off or vanilla still looks blown out. I have to disable addon in reshade, then it becomes normal. But that need restart of the game. So I wondered what off and vanilla option do if they can't restore to the original state.
sdr monitors can display scrgb
its backwards compatible with srgb
you just have to set ui, game, and peak brightness all to 80
and you have to set gamma correction to off if using a 2.2 display
Your settings work well for sdr! Still a few questions, should Peak Brightness be set to my monitor's maximum instead of 80? And I didn't see gamma option. Do this method work for every game using renodx?
afaik it works for games that use scrgb and not hdr10. Though if you have an hdr and sdr monitor connected to windows at the same time idk if that changes things. if there's no gamma correction toggle that would mean it's double applying gamma correction. You could use the generic unreal engine mod which has some extra sliders such as gamma correction, though sliders don't apply in real time (i think you either need to pause the game or open the settings menu when you move a slider for it to apply)
OK I understand that closing the addon probably the best to display for sdr. I'm using two monitors just because ar glass enable me lying down to rescue my spine. Hope the ar glass with hdr mode be invented someday lol.

There's an Add-on tab on Reshade, but I just rename the addon to addon64x when I'm testing
no clue if this is a renodx bug or a UE5/Game specific bug, the lighting changes drastically between DLAA and other presets.
DLAA is bugged in this game, more specifically upscaling above 75% of 4k breaks the lighting-there are a couple options
- Use Ultra Plus mod and enable the DLAA Fix
- Set 'DLSS Override - Super Resolution' to 75% in the NVIDIA app
- Just use Quality mode

Weird. I've experimented with a slew of different custom Preset J scales and haven't had that issue.
i might just nuke the shader cache, start over stock, restore my Reno and U+ setups
iirc i had some wierd visual thing near launch as well that resolved after deleting the shaders
Having this weird issue with the game reverting back to DLAA evert time after a cutscene, new area or fight. Menu still showing the correct preset but fps doesn't shoot back up until i got back to the menu and apply again,. Been doing this my entire play session today. 😭 Using Reno, UI+ and puredark framegen mod. I figured it was the framegen mod its still doing it without the mod.
Anyone know what this could be?
^Disregard. It was the Ultra + option to lower setting when in battle that messed up DLSS in an out of battle. All good now and smooth as butter
are you having the issue if you use the lower battle settings but leave ray reconstruction alone option?
or just with reduce battle settings and turn off rr
the former has always worked perfectly for me, the latter (turning rr off and back on after battle) can have a pretty massive perf impact but wasnt terribly stable for me

weird bug, what could be the reason of this ?
(1) no idea wtf is happening there haha, (2) glad a game reboot fixed it, (3) i find with UE5 games in general, but with COE33 especially, almost every visual issue ive encountered has been solved by deleting the game's shader cache and letting it rebuild while having whatever version of third party mods youre injecting running
I quit using RR because in this game, during cutscenes when changing cameras it shows this weird black and white pattern for a millisecond. It sucks
RR preset E sucks all around imo.. in Cyberpunk the sky is permanently "gridded" like that

its defs not anywhere near that bad in COE33 - there just are still clear trade off, hopefully the transformer model stuff will eventually get to a (SR) preset E type sitch where theres just "the best one" across the board
I still use RR preset E in COE33 bc on balance imho the things it improves i notice more than the things it worsens
but if some of those artefacs are particularly galling to you, then yeah, go with D
or stick to temporal - which tbh looks a lot better with U+ doing all its other stuff than in the vanilla game

fwiw i prefer J over K in COE33, specifically bc of the difference it makes re hair - but as always peeps are probs sensitive to different artefacts, so im sure there are ones that will prefer K
where ive landed in terms of a best looking combo (accounting for which kinds of artefacts bother me less or more) is SR preset J and RR preset E - both have their own downsides, but SR=J bc hair and RR=E bc lumen noise in reflections
people that are less bothered by the artefacts that combo solves for me may prefer something different - I know over on the U+ Discord a fair amount of users seem to prefer K for this game - the hair thing just bothers me too much
similarly adding ray reconstruction and using its preset E introduces its own/new visual artefacts, but basically entirely solves lumen noise, which i cannot stand to a degree that makes the trade off worth it 🤷♂️

nope not getting those - but have seen plenty of others mentioning them. my anecdotal feeling is that the transformer model stuff seems more sensitive to how different variables combine, if that makes sense? like between SR preset, RR preset, DLL version, internal res, output res, etc. there are so many variables and ive found/it seems like to me at least, that some of that huge number of diff combinations can produce artefacts that a different combo might not* 🤷♂️

It vastly improves the base game IMHO. Highly recommend U+ for every game they work on.
U+ does not change the visual style. You have to option to disable/reduce fog, but that’s it basically.

I don't know why, but U+ just almost melted my GPU during cutscenes in this game. I had them unlocked with Lyall's mod, and my undervolted 4090 went crazy warm whenever the in-game cutscenes rendered with this mod. It wasn't even pulling more power than usual but the temps were wild

it does improve LODs + skin subsurface scattering, lightning a bit as well

Honestly the U+ team kinda screwed themselves with that name because it doesn't rly encompass what their mod does
You can get visual improvements and some of the fixes while keeping your performance similar - it's not just for ultra level PCs, you don't need to crank every setting to epic or insane
I understand the name implies otherwise but yah - just so you are aware if you do wanna give it a try 😅
im using 310.2.1 rather than the latest (310.3), as the .3 one has been causing me some serious issues, tho i havent seen anyone else report that, so im leaning towards i fked up smthn with the config of my system. 4K output res (HDMI to TV) from 1080p internal (DLSS SR performance, preset J along with with DLSS RR preset E). got a nice combo of Ultra Plus + RenoDX + SpecialK stacked on there for good measure 😅 as well as Lyall's fix - importantly have stayed with Lyall's fix 0.9 as every version after has caused me issues - but I'm also not using an ultrawide monitor so dont need most of the features his fix is for
but some games look amazing in 21:9 (examples off the top of my head - Death Stranding, SW Outlaws), even if that means im actually losing the use of the top and bottom parts of my TV panel, i sit close enough that it doesnt impede my ability to see stuff properly and have encountered visual oddities are much more common on my set up at least when I start messing around with DLSS when not playing at my native output res
transformer model specifically - just seems a bit less robust/resilient in that regard than the previous CNN models

was just in COE33 but - having given it a second go now - the issue is resolved. i guess i shoul follow my own advice more closely, as im always telling others that 99% of issues ive ever encountered with COE33 when something changes - whether DLSS preset, U+ options, RenoDX settings, etc - is deleting the game's shader cache, launching it with the new changes ive made in place so it can rebuild the shader cache under those conditions, and then the errors tend to resolve
which is exactly what ended up happening here - i deleted COE33's shader cache, went baclk to DLSS Swapper to chuck in the newest DLLs for SR and RR - launched game, loaded in, and the visual artefacts i was getting previously are gone

Yeah RR on preset E and I'm not getting the checker board pattern - at least that's one piece of luck that's gone on my favour 😅
My general sense/experience/anecdotal gut feel is that the transformer models, so far, are an amazing step fwd on many areas but definitely less robust than the last couple of CNN ones

Whereas under CNN, whether F or E etc, of someone pointed out a visual artefact and my initial thought was I don't think I have that, when I then go specifically look for it, yep, it's there
Whereas for the transformer models it seems like a (much much much milder) version of "works fine on my PC" seems to be possible :/

I'm running with an 80 FPS limit (via nvidia app) so my 4080 runs cooler, but it would not perform any better without it anyway at 1440p. I think I have it mostly on the defaults in U+, with denoiser set to ray reconstruction and lighting quality on epic.

I just don't think DLAA is worth it in this case IMO. DLSS quality at 4k, forcing the newest dll and preset J, looks 95% the same.

ray reconstruction cleans up noise and artifacts in games using ray tracing. it does come with a performance cost.
if you want to use it, then select preset E in profile inspector, RR = ray reconstruction

it's a matter of personal preference imo. it will make reflections and indirect lighting look a lot better. full stop. but it comes with a significant FPS cost, and it messes with some post-processing, which is especially apparent during cutscenes.
i've played it both ways, but ultimately decided to disable it.

I've never really understood the statement. The nature of aliasing isn't solved by increasing resolution alone. You can get a high enough resolution that it stops being an outright distraction, but it's still there

We’ve long been at the point where the biggest bottleneck for game graphics is money/manpower/time. You simply can’t hold smaller teams on shorter timelines to the same standards as a studio like Rockstar that can pour fuck you money into a project for 6+ years.

Arguably things like real time lighting and better upscales allowed the smaller studios to close the gap in some way, I mean AW2 is visually fairly comparable to TLoU2 with the fraction of the budget, but things like animation, and especially facial animations is something you need money/hardware/talent to power thought

Again, not shitting on clair obscur...they did an okay job for the $$ they had.......and somehow did it beter than any new assassin's creed that releases. (Facial animation)

Which one? I mean It's not Death Stranding 2 level ofc, but the facial expressions in cutscenes are exceptionally good imo, you can see the pain/sadness on their faces. It's really good for LiDAR scanned faces, they used iPhones to scan the actors.

but just in terms of how (at the right budget level) they are able to simulate how certain mouth movements actually make different parts of your face move, the way muscles are connected

perhaps doesnt hold up isnt the right way to put it bc it puts a negative spin on a past game that did great with the tech available at the time - a better way to put it might be that its an area where we've seen massive improvements in titles with the budget, tech, and desire to do it

I know I'm a bit late to the Expedition 33 party, but I finally purchased it. I installed RenoDX, but the Lillium shaders are not compiling. Does this mean RenoDX is not working? I installed Reshade 6.5.1 with add-on support, and then I copied the Reno files overwriting dxgi.dll.

I found an error which says Reshade version too old. However, I just downloaded the latest Reshade version.
don't use the custom dxgi from the reno mod, just use the original 6.5.1, it works just fine
the custom dxgi is reshade 6.4.1. it may work with the addon but not with the latest shaders. alternatively you could get older shaders but I'm running the game with 6.5.1 just fine so no need
