Is it games HDR that changes whole image exposure (brightness?) when changing camera like from bright open area to a denser area.
It does that in sdr too, that’s just the game’s autoexposure
Yeah, some sort of auto exposure.
Anyways to disable it?
I can try adding a slider that forces it to 1 but I imagine it’ll look pretty broken
Right.
Ill upload it to discord in a little bit
I mean thanks for even considering this 😁
It makes the foliage colours a bit dimmer on occasions. ruining that immersive feel. As im only playing this game for its visuals.
Replacing a shader called sceneluminance is crashing the game
I’m guessing that’s the autoexposure one
So that’s a rip
Oh. That's fine anyways. You tried
lmao
this might be the first game I actually kinda like Chromatic Aberration
am I going crazy?
I honestly don't notice it from how far away I am from the tv
some people have better eyes than I do
oh I definitely notice it and actually the first thing I did was turning it off the first time I played
I usually don't notice CA unless it's very aggressive
but I just tried playing with it a bit and I actually kinda like it now
that being said, yesterday I found out that if you turn off upscaling motion blur gets applied to the entire screen, but if you turn upscaling on motion blur doesn't get applied to the camera and is only per object. Or so it seems
took a screenshot in motion with DLSS on and then to Native AA, the difference is wild
Upscaling set to Native AA / Upscaling set to performance mode, both images were taken with the camera moving at full speed
That explains why the game looked so choppy to me
motion blur still gets applied to character movement though it seems
also lol at the motion blur box in the left screen
lol, yeah
I don't think that's how it should work though
usually the individual objects would blur depending on how you move the camera
I'd say the right one looks like it's not working as intended lmao
oh really? I don't know much about motion blur at all
but yeah you're probably right
with per object motion blur that is
took this screenshot with dlss set to performance mode to see what it looks like when swinging a sword
I don't like that effect anyways since it kinda eliminates the purpose of having high refresh rates lol
I dunno, I'll let the other smart people here figure that one out
Soop made me aware of this bug:
The performance drops as time of day changes, then going back up when it gets to the time of day you started the session on
fps drops when you open doors I notice all the time now too
You still need MB even at the HFR to smooth out the motion between the frames, just less of it
Problem is that most games don't scale MB to the frame rate
Nice thing about UE is that you can at least force it there
isnt it bad to scale mb with framerate ?
in both GOW games they done that
the motion blur feels a bit too subtle to me even with 10
(at high framerate)
and all naughty dog games do that too
Ya I remember John from df complaining about it in uncharted legacy of thieves
i remember that too, though i normally dont like his takes, but i do agree with him on the motion blur of legacy of thieves
No
That's how it works in real life
With real cameras I mean
180 shutter speed means that shutter operates 2x the frame rate
but on a sample hold display low fps already means more blur
you dont get that sample hold blur in real life
But you do get it watching stuff on your TV
There's no difference between that with games or video
Having an ultrawide definitely helps with liking CA (but I kept it activated even before)
I'm pretty sure chromatic aberration adds psycho visual detail
because you don't see it too much?
you can just turn it off and not see it 😄
i think it's just preset K that is awful, J might be doing better overall
I'm rly curious, pls keep us updated on your impressions. I won't get a chance for much game time the next few days or id be taking a look myself. I only tested out K at the start and the ghosting was way too much for me to live with, didn't even occur to me to try J, given the major difference from J to K (for most games) seems to be less ghosting haha
i only tried K in many games and in all of them it'd have the same kind of unbearable ghosting on fog
i assumed K is just better J, but apparently not. or I've just been lucky with the weather in AC. I'm trying K again and it's ass as expected
the one DLSS comparison for this game was showing that Preset E has better motion blur / particle effects but J and K are better with FPS I think
yeah J seems to ghost a lot less than K. but it still has this issue
and I see no difference with SK's fixes or not
and, honestly, there's nothing that can be fixed here. the transformer model presets J and K just struggle on that kind of content right now
thats been my experience too, tho still grateful you checked/v interesting that J is doing better than K in this game, I'd stopped checking out J as the other titles I've tried at least K was always a clear improvement. wonder what's different about ubi's setup - whether its just the visuals and effects themselves challenging the model or the fact that their implementation of any nvidia tech seems fairly... if not broken, at least french lol
wonder what's different about ubi's setup
i don't think anything's different really, as the ghosting occurs on the same things it does in all other games
the only two games (i think?) that have official dlss4 transformer upscaling also use ray reconstruction, which seems a very curious coincidence
sorry to be clear i just meant J being superior to K, not the inherent issues they are still working out with the new transformer model. granted like i said i havent checked J vs K in that many games, but the ones I did, K just seemed... basically better - like you said. so was more wondering whether it was the visuals or wtv in assassins creed that makes J>K
i do get the feeling with the transformer model even more so than before that nvidia wants you to/has designed all the sub-types of DLSS to work together as one package more so than ever before
i dont really have anything to base that on beyond gut feel lmao xD
Props to Ubisoft for their mushroom physics engine
that is quite cool lol
unfortunately the game lost me with it's repetitive tasks
I don't think I'm gonna finish this one
thats just because no player selects yasuke and the new items are in his inventory, so everyone thinks its a bug
I've actually been playing as Yasuke off and on. It's a known issue. My guess is that both characters inventories are aware of the other character's inventory but since you can't select the other character's items from within their own, the inventory notification never goes away
well that's a bug I haven't seen yet lol. Photo mode filter stayed on even after I exited photo mode. I also couldn't change which filter was active either
happened to me once, had to reload a save to get it to go away (it looks sick tho)
yeah restarting the game fixed it, cool though 🙂
nice patch coming out tomorrow that is going to fix a ton of bugs. Thank god
Remember to backup your executable, they're probably going to add even more DRM than they did when you open treasure chests in 1.0.1 🙂
Cause it is
😂
think the game turned HDR off when the update hit
mine was off last night when I loaded my save
or I just forgot to turn it back on when I was turning it off and on to get reshade to work again 😛
they still havent fixed being able to sell multiple things at once?
the length of time that this has been an issue for is kinda blowing my mind
it must be spaghettied into the game's code in a real bad way to be so hard to fix without causing other problems
hdr unrelated but did anybody experience something like this?:
figured out disabling first 2 cores of my ryzen 5800x makes that issue disappear, swapping nvidia's drivers was making no difference
This game on high end hardware is a thing of beauty. So smooth.
is claws of awaji going to be the last update for the game?
they'll prob have minor updates here and there for a while
ac odyssey had a dlc in 2021
waiting to play it out of beta state
its fine now
don't think any of the new updates are going to make it substantially better
the parkour update was nice but not huge
cause the parkour in the game is basic anyway
it's just not designed in a way that has opportunities for cool parkour
it's just that it sucks when you spend a lot of time playing a AAA game, and then the game receives an update that could make your playthrough much more fun
its the best time waster ubisoft has made in years
and i know ubisoft, they always do that
all ubisoft quebec assassin's creed games are fun, they take the slow gameplay of ubisoft montreal and transform it into a fast fun gameplay
mirage which is made by some third ubisoft studio felt very clunky
but i think i will play it to 100% to appreciate your hdr mod
mirage had me so excited until they dropped the gameplay reveal
I genuinely thought we were gonna get good parkour
and then it was just valhalla parkour but slightly sped up
yeah agreed
▫️Assassins Creed Shadows
does anyone know why the input resolution for dlss performance is 25% in ac shadows? it should be 50%
but even dlss quality is only 44% input
or am i misunderstanding the settings
I'm pretty sure those numbers are % pixel count, not % per axis. Which is a bit different from how it's usually expressed.
yes that makes sense!
thank you
does this game have issues with latest nvidia drivers or something?
I'm getting 60 fps on my rtx 5090 (100% gpu utilization) with frame gen on while settings are on very high preset
but the power draw is at around 200W only lol
I remember this game ran very good on my system so I'm shocked this is happening
also changing upscaling from quality to performance results in like 5fps more
while the gpu is still at 100% lol
check if your gpu is running at pcie 5.0*16
or 4.0*16
with this https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
download and open it
100% gpu usage + low power draw on high end gpus is bus interface issue most of the time
did you change something in npi
not that I'm aware of
seems to be an issue with latest windows update
I hate when stuff like this happens
did you update to 25H2
yep
Did you guys played canon mode?
My 5090 here as well not breaking over 300W but al almost full GPU usage. 4K DLSS Q FG 2X while not 116 FPS reflex cap in some scenarios. Did you find a fix. And I'm on 23H2 because Ubisoft as well. Star Wars Oulaws was always crashing.
Nvidia released a hotfix driver with the fix
I assume newest driver should include that
Alex from Digital Foundry even did a short rant on that
I had the hotfix and new drivers but saw no strange behaviours in any game. Now this... I have an undervolt though. But 300W still to low. Demanding games go 400W easy.
well for me the issue was actually that my GPU could not produce decent performance in that game
I had like 28fps or something and GPU only drawing 190Watts
300W doesn't seem too bad tbh
but idk it does sound strange yea
350W with no undervolt in cutscenes that don't use FG. Might go FG X3 and call it, but I don't think this games needs that.
have checked the pcie speed
yea I did everything is fine with the GPU thankfully
game is borked
it was a notorious windows update that completely borked the performance
oh right
for me it's fixed now
Via driver update or you rolled back Windows?
Might try updating Windows then. Time to move on from 23H2 maybe? Haha.
What's you power draw now?
let me boot up the game 1sec
gotta download the AoT upade 🙂
I'll report in 5minutes hah
No difference in performance if I mess with DLSS and RT settings.
250W power draw makes no sense.
roughly 300W on my end
97% usage
60fps without Framegen with everything maxed out
you're right something is messed up again
lol
dropping DLSS quality makes no change
no difference*
this wasn't the case 2-3 weeks ago
wait actually I'm not sure
actually no performance seems fine tbh
I'm not sure anymore
Perfomance is "fine" I guess. Wonder why shuch low power draw. I've read something about some cores being more used than others due to RT, but I'm no expert on this. Might be all made up haha.
I think performance on my end is where it's expected
getting 60-70 fps in forest areas with 300+W power draw
Win is updating to 24H2 now. 25H2 is still optional I guess?
Will boot Cyberpunk just to see 400W haha.
It pulls 450W with X3 FG. Nuts.
GPU usage at 80ish though.
What is this witchery?
lmao yea I don't understand how and when it draws so much power
I think in GoW Ragnarok I had it drawing 500W while undervolted
but whenever you get 30 fps at 98% usage and only 190W power that's when it's suspicious lmao
bro I'm scared of such numbers
I have the MSI adapter
But we can agree 250 to 350W on a 5090 at high resolutions and on an RT game is abnormal, right? Or maybe someone with deeper knowledge can justify it...
im using the xoc bios
exceed 1000w in that game lol
and no im not going to play it daily with that config
Now I dare you to pull those numbers on AC Shadows haha.
I play just cause 3 recently
that game seems to have the lowest power draw ive seen on my 5090
Its like less than 500w at 1.07v
and 3.2ghz
probably lives in yakutsk or something lmao
Its less than 40c at 600w
okay but how?
OK. 24H2 with no KB:5066131 nor 5066835 as random people on recommended online same abnormally low power draw. Performance is fine I guess... Might try FG X3 so I alway cap. I mean... This game does not look like it should be under 100 FPS at some points but it is what it is. Feels quite smooth though.
X3 FG, almost half the GPU usage, same power draw :PP
Guess I'll have to play a bit more but first impressions... Rough.
Ghosting in vegetation even at 4K DLAA is massive dude... I'm honestly not awed at all visually by this game. Not to mention pacing, story and animations... Combat seems fun though.
preset K ?
then yes transformer sr has its issues even at dlaa
Might try J... But Transformer is a big improvment in fine datail. Not sure I can go back to CNN haha.
Look #1429978095871332353 message
its the same
the game specifically doesnt work with transfomer well
you get insane ghosting with fogs
maybe CNN with a higher internal res
I wonder why sometimes you cannot tell the difference this much when you update to profile K, but in other games is like DLSS alone increses the LoD or some internal rendering stuff.
Reminder that the transformer model is basically genAI, so without the ground truth, it's hard to say if it doesn't just hallucinate the detail
Well yes. I'd say it's an hallucination based upcalled but I don't think it makes things up on the go. Haha. Another title where I saw it was kind of internally rendering more stuff was Dead Space remake. Huge difference in fine detail in the space suit if using profile K in that game.
Games today going all in on RT but you still get shite textures and pop-in every half a meter in your face.
It was always like that
And AssCreed was always a poster child for this
Remember buildings turning into lego blocks in Unity
I never played AC games so maybe this is why I'm being a bit disappointed with how kind of triple A but cheap this feels haha. I remember I tried Odyssey because I love the theme but ran away grossed out after a couple of hours. hahah.
its secret optimization mode for conslows
The snowed village looks amazing though.
Context be like... Yes.
oh dude Assassin's Creed is absolutely the worst kind of cheap mass product cashgrab
the O.G. games were really good
but everything after AC: Revelations (which was already a lot worse than Brotherhood) was garbage
with AC Origins they went all in on the RPG concept it has today and in my opinion it doesn't fit the series at all
boring open worlds, boring side quests, boring story
Combat system which has nothing to do with Assassin's fantasy at all
I respect the self-restraint required to avoid using the S-word
I dropped this game about midway through (i think?). Really really good opening act but this is maybe the most disastrous the Ubisoft Structure has been to a story since Star Wars Outlaws
You're hunting down this group who ruined Naoe and Yasuke's lives and they feel so tangental that they started blurring with the other groups of bad guys i was murdering. At least Far Cry 5, whilst still having this structure, gave you a little glimpse into the consequences of killing Josephs family
It's a damn shame because the themes they were playing with early on really got me, especially having a character whose entire arc was making art as a way to process trauma. I do have the bias of despising the writing of Ghost of Tsushima though so anything better than that is a major improvement
also love that unlike GoT they didn't completely go the boring route with the soundtrack with JapaneseMusic.wav, going into the first boss and they drop some k-rock on you ruled 😯
The gameplay additions were honestly a letdown, i appreciate them doing a soft reboot of splinter cell but feudal but since it's still an RPG AC you have these big open areas not really designed for ghosting but you also can't just kill people in your way by default since you're too low level. Yasuke was cool but they don't really do anything with him and they do the offline MMO trappings of AC Odyssey much worse.
it's a damn shame, if it was more tightly focused this would probably be my favorite game in the series (side note that I'm sure will make me enemies: I am a huge contrarian and I think Black Flag is terrible but I am also curious about that remake)
ya I dropped it in Omi
agree with everything said
ship stuff was boring but it's been a long time so I barely remember
Musa try to have a coherent opinion challenge
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1165308683090137160/1481612480126910554/image.png?ex=69d8dca6&is=69d78b26&hm=0ce097703c60cf8de100143675ac8721667d23afea9a543bd4daccae51afcae6&
I dropped bg3 with even less play time
so its coherent
the ship stuff is the best part but it's kind of underbaked. the problem is that like 70% of the game is normal 7th gen assassins creed and it has every single problem the series has up to that point taken to 11
there was a reddit post trying to calculate what percentage of the games is tailing missions and Black Flag is in the lead. 60% of its missions involve following someone.
It's following someone with the awkward sticky assassins creed parkour and then you enter boring combat where you wait until someone attacks and then press B>X to instantly kill them and start a combo where you then instantly kill everyone else
Just an incredibly boring game to play and I really do not get what everyone else sees in it beyond some really fun characters who find themselves trapped in the boring templar v assassin plot. It's the one game I think would work as an RPG contrary to what everyone says (it has an obscured leveling system anyway) so I am interested to see if the remake addresses the issues it has
also it can go to hell for the fucking ship stealth mission, what the actual fuck where they thinking
@slow sorrel quick question, i do have a display hdr400 monitor and wanted to use your mod from nexusmods for the game but i dont know what settings i should use and or it evens brings me something when i turn hdr on on this monitor. hope you or someone could help me with that.
I’m on a true black 400 OLED and I used peak 400 and exposure -1.0 in the in game settings
the renodx settings i have at default
The question that i have in my mind is, would it improve something to turn on hdr with my monitor or should i hold on to sdr or is it like unnecessary and not useful for me?
guys, can you use specialK and renodx at the same time?
