tyty
fyi, taa jitter should be kept off in that mod
setting doesn't really do what it says it does in practice
are these correct?
that should work
ahhh
Oh my god they actually fixed it lol
They had the same issue in world and never fixed it
Is anyone crashing with the mod now ?
nope
update is in 2h
cleared out all my mods this morning to test vanilla performance once the patch hits. i'm not expecting much of a change. direct storage dll upgrade did nothing for me so hopefully they did more than that.
I thought it was at 8 pt
servers go down at 3pm and come back up at 8 pst. not sure when the patch hits. i assumed 8
anyone know what time?
Exciting
thats so late
so after some conversion, updates is in 4 hours from now
jesus i hate all those utc/gmt conversion
UTC is good
at least you can easily convert to your timezone
imagine mentioning some meme us timezone
who the fuck can remember that
they have so many
I'm still HR lvl 4 haha
screenshot enjoyer
I had little time to play in the past 1-2 weeks
I'm like hr130 I forgot
I kinda burned myself out on all the not-really-playing I did 😅
just chillin till the update
you did your job in helping with the hdr mod stuff lol
i think i got up to 220 or 230
I will continue the game this weekend
gotta get to HR 999 for the "monster hunter" title
first we wait for reframework to work again, it might break with the update
then we wait for Renodx fix
i've got like 5 of each and perfect artians lol

yea true
my total playtime is ~80 hours or something
for hr4? thats wild
bro is playing sliders haha
for that cinematic screenshot
the average person cannot comprehend why a human would want to do what you do
nah not really, I love testing more than playing
and yea I like editing characters
for sure 😄
MH World and Nioh 2 were my comfort games
yeah im curious if there will be any updates or if there's even been any development on the mod too
according to steam, 56% players are at 1080phttps://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey
less than i thought considering most of that is probably laptops
i have nioh2 on ps5, easily 500+ hours
I'm hoping they are making a 3rd one at some point
nice
my favorite game of all time probably
update is today right?
it starts in 2 hours
better backup you save file, we never know 😄
true...
I'm glad that I'm still at the beginning of the game
I really hope that the update fixes the issues with the DLC texture pack
Me too.
does anyone know if we should uninstall reshade in anticipation of the update?
reframework is the only thing that's likely to break
but reframework breaking means reshade breaks
I’m uninstalling everything to be safe but also because I want to do arena quests
same
what does it have to do with arena quests
Just backup?
They said they are going to ban people who “cheat” in challenge quests because there’s a leaderboard and we don’t know what that includes. Could include REFramework
patch is up
patching, but will test game with no mods first
very curious to see if reframework is broken
hear from people that it seems fine
yea seems fine
ref still works fine
awesome
dlc textures still seem to cause stutter. unmodded at least
god this game is ugly without mods lol
anyone elses patching game files slow af?
soo true . my eyes can't stand this . RenoDX is a huge save
slow storage
on a gen4 nvme
weird
works fine on me . SpecialK + Reno works fine on title update 1
mine was crawling until i rebooted
yeah I am sure it works, I am just concerned for the arena
how much vram on your gpu?
24
damn
yikes
i think even if you had 128GB of VRAM it would still be broken
i'm getting way smoother frametimes with no REF or SK
HDR still ass
Seemed the same to me
Not going to waste my time testing it... Installing all the mods now because I can't stand looking at the vanilla game any longer
lol same. Can’t play without reno
it's pretty amazing how they managed to make the game both oversharpened and blurry at the same time
the grand hub is really dark at night. my normal reno settings are crushing blacks
Did they shrink the High res texture pack size?
looks like it. by 5gb
Yea the main paks have additional patch files
But the high res pack file is directly patched in place
I never realized how much dlss4 was helping until i reinstalled
make sure to redo dlss swapper
unless they added anti cheat I really doubt bans get dished out unless there's blatant cheating
but the abundance of caution makes sense, only reason I'm not doing that is cause...idk, I don't mind playing this solo I guess
would rather play alone offline modded than not lmaooo
I think it is for the arena mostly
is there a leaderboard?
yes
almost certainly the extent of how they're deciding
yeah, but I want to be a bit safe and do that content without mods for a bit until people test it out more
makes sense
game didn't recompile shaders after the update and stutter is all over the place, cool lol
time to delete the cache
I deleted ahead of time
do you perhaps have another drive that is an hdd
steam likes to choose another seemingly random drive to download updates on
it chose my hdd
causing it to be slow af
just forced it to use the ssd and its much faster
i have a 256gb ssd and a 1 TB HDD Ark is installed on the 1 tb hdd with 130+ gb free space. but steam is downloading the patchfiles to the ssd and now the download won´t finish because i have no space left on the ssd. any way to solve that problem? looks line someone had the same problem but no sulution: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/...
Top comment here to force it
anyone getting random black screen flashes?
i deleted cache before
usually when loading
game is running a hell of a lot worse for me
Maybe reframework drm patch not working anymore
god I hope this isn't the case
yep it was set to my HDD even though my nvme has 300+gb free who at steam is coding like they have 2 nurons firing
moving around the world is running like some hot fucking dogshit for me now
with or without the highest textures
this happening for anyone else?
If it didn't have enough space for the initial download then it does that
The game download
idk how with 300gb free it didnt have enough space
Did it have 300GB when you download the game for the first time
yes
Then idk
Steam on crack
50MB/s to 500MB/s made the install a little faster for me
Just a little

It's not a bad feature
I just wish it was more transparent
Not very clear that it does that
seems to be running the same for me after i got sk and ref running
i think it was frame gen
hm, maybe it was caused by me trying the highest textures without rebooting
works how I remember when closing and running again
No sir, game is as smooth as before. In fact, the limited set of mods I use, they are also working AFAIK. Pouch replacement mod had some issues but there is an update.
any one randomly crash?
shader compilation :/
what is it
my game is compiling shaders
it takes time
lol i got a fps boost on screen title
overall i have MORE fps
high res textures are still stuttering for my 16GB vram
i'll decompress and repack high res textures later
i don't read author's name 😄
Will be broken, probably? You can do it yourself with https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterwilds/mods/951
decompressing the textures helped me run the highest dlc textures on my 4080
just dont get baited by shader comp stutter you will experience
Did you replace the compressed pak with uncompressed outright?
oh i ddint use this mod
used this one
I just linked it above...?
That's what I meant by replacing compressed DLC with uncompressed
in the comments on page 2 i followed the guide from toroidesu
false positive?
a user comment from nexus
``This tool pretty much solved the stutters caused by the Hi Res texture pack. If you have 16 GB of VRAM or more and couldn't run the Hi Res pack due to the horrible stutters when turning the camera, I highly recommend you to try this tool out. Note that just like a lot of other people said, it will likely not improve your average fps by much, this is solely for stutters when spinning your camera.
I have my in-game camera speed set to 11. Before using this tool, I would get very noticeable stutters, like the entire game freezes for 0.2 seconds stutter, when turning the camera horizontally at full speed. After decompressing both the sub_000.pak and the Hi Res pack, my game is able to maintain a 1% low of 60+ even during the full speed camera test.
If you can't tell whether the textures applied successfully, just look at the training area item box like the other commenter mentioned, or take a look at either Hirabami or Doshaguma Switch Axe. Those two weapons I found to have very low quality textures even on High texture setting``
omg it's working!
no more stutters
gotta do some hunt to confirm
how much extra space is needed?
so 173 GB total
i have "only" 16gb and it's working well
game is also on a very fast SSD
samsung 990 pro 2TB
but any ssd compatible to direct storage will do fine
btw does the latest renodx still work ?
There should be an option in the decompression tool to include all files in the new pak, to make it possible to replace the original, I think?
I followed the guide in the top comment on Nexus but it's written in a kinda broken English so I'm not sure
when using the tool i just used true to both options and replaced the originals
also did the hardlink thing with the dlc file just to be sure
yes it's the 2nd option
i pressed enter twice using the default options
1st option FALSE
2nd option TRUE
and let your cpu cooking the new texture pack
the uncompressed will take 107GB
just delete the old pak and rename the new
I'll have to free up space and try it
i locked my file as read-only
Shouldn't they be both true to replace it?
i think the first option is to repack both regular textures and high res textures into 1 file
This is the comment I was referring to, it's linked in the mod's description as well https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterwilds/mods/951?tab=posts
not sure what does the 1st option
They're saying that you need both options to replace the file or just the second to make a "patch" file (I think)
Also I don't get what the hardlink's for
forget the hardlink trick
i used the latest version of the tool, 0.1.3
with default options (false, true)
and it's working
I think I'm seeing low res textures on my end, I'm gonna try renaming the new pak as a patch instead of replacing the original file
high textures
high res textures
i don't know if it's placebo but high res looks more detailed
oh i'm using fsr quality, it's upscaled 1440p to 4k
it can diminish the details
i should recapture at native 4k
I dunno, the difference in between dlc vs regular high textures are not big enough (1440p here) for me to stomach stutters it is still present even with texture decompression thingie
yeah high res is better, proof
native 4K
FSR native AA
sharpening OFF
high textures
high res textures
Some people in the comments are saying that some textures are missing (that's what the hardlink/symlink workaround should be for), I was seeing the same tbh
since we all use upscaling (dlss, fsr) with sharpening, textures can look sharper at high
diminishing the difference between high and high res
They're using the box in the arena as an example cause it seems that it's one of those models that load a lower quality texture if it's not working correctly
I got 12
But yeah that's usually why I can see the textures streaming in front of me
problem is, with the decompressed file alone I had textures that stayed low res indefinitely
it is situational, sometimes high res dlc does look better, the problem is; not always 😄
I'm trying with the symlink in the game's root folder now, at least it won't need more space
yes i still see low res textures in town
Also the arena should be the less taxing area in the game since it's not connected to anything else
So seeing a low res texture there would be weird (but that could be just the engine acting up)
that's my belief, the engine is still poorly managing textures with the given vram budget
at least it doesn't stutter on high res uncompressed
Yeah that's a huge improvement at least
It mitigates most of them, true; but I still notice slightly bigger stutters on some areas (Oilwell Basin specifically) compared to regular texture pack also texture streaming and objects getting their textures takes more time naturally and it makes those annoying moments longer...
I did not try it with new TU though
maybe it is improved?
It was just not worth it before, maybe I can give it a try later. Because I hate compromising texture quality when using a 4090 😄
ice mod
I am still positively astonished by the fact that reframework is still working after TU. I don't have many mods but all of them also seem to be working. Very noice
and it seems they optimized the engine, i have more fps!
here's my metrics before/after the update
screen title: 92, 10.87 -> 95, 10.43
tent: 72, 13.89 -> 78, 12.82
forest: 52, 19.23 -> 59, 16.95
anyone experiencing performance issues
the contrary for me
it's smoother, it's faster 😄
i think i was just experiencing shader stutter
yes you might need to force shader compilation if the game doesn't do it at start
i saw some people having this issue on steam forums
I did a clean reinstall and it’s way smoother for me. No weird frame time judder without reframework
Uncompressing the textures would probably fix the issue with stutter since the GPU no longer has to decompress anything
But it takes more disk space
And the disk needs to be fast otherwise it'll just shit the bed as well
biggest bullshit i've ever read lmao, game still maxes my 16 gbs of vram as soon as i move the camera when using the high res texture pack..this is with the updated direct storage too
Follow this comment
i'm going to try it now
i've just decompressed the dlc (=high res) and it's flawless
Did you replace the original files? Both options true?
yes i replaced the compressed pak by the uncompressed pak, no hardlink needed
i used the default options false/true
I've replaced everything with true/true, compiling shaders, will see how it goes.
Did you do anything differently from the mod comment screenshot above?
yes i didn't touch the root folder
only the dlc folder for the high res textures
my game doesn't stutter with high textures
Set to highest?
for low end pc, decompressing might be needed for regular textures
highest use high-res textures which needs to decompress the dlc folder
I'm on a 16GB 4070 ti super, so I'll probably copy you and just decompress the texture pack.
Gotta wait till I get home to try it though
well if you use high textures and don't stutter when rotating the camera, it means you don't need to decompress the normal texture pak
my frametimes are all over the place using the highest textures setting when I rotate the camera
it's same for everybody because of the high compression complexity
what do u mean
just use the MHWs Tex Decompressor Tool, it's built on top of the Texture Decompression Removal one
with reframework antitamper removal + uncompressed textures + some reshade shaders disabled, the game is becoming a more pleasant experience
what's the best way to hardlink?
the dos command
Ok, seems to be working fine, i'm not noticing texture popups and frametime spikes seem to be smoother.
I've uncompressed both DLC and base file with both patches.
With true/true and replacing original.
Now to find that transparency near camera disable mod...
got it ty
why could no one just post the command for people in all the posts and the mod description itself, geezus
just in case it helps anybody:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterWilds
mklink /h re_chunk_000.pak.sub_000.pak.patch_005.pak dlc\re_dlc_stm_3308900.pak.sub_000.pak
heard some people also decompress the other textures and it helps for high res dlc as well
did you do that @rustic bridge ?
i did both
i tried but i did something wrong because i was missing some textures
and didn't bother because it's already smooth
i did both. the thing to keep in mind for the dlc textures is that you have to do the hardlink (or copy/paste) into the main directory or you'll get random low res textures mixed in with the hd ones
so false then true when uncompressing to be able to just replace it
weird because i replaced the dlc using false/true (default)
patching is too much wasted space
then you're probably missing some stuff and don't notice/realize it yet
you have to do true/true if you're replacing
oh whoops i did true/true but patched the regular textures
jesus i have to redownload the dlc then
false/true only replicates textures so if there's anything else inside the pak it'll no longer be there if you're replacing the original file
which means the file will be bigger with true/true?
yeah
it's already at 100+GB
yeah
my poor ssd
it's only 106 with true/true
30% of the partition just for one game lol
so not too much bigger
the game looks so crisssssssp
it's 102gb with false/true and 106gb with true/true. so it's missing 4gb of non-texture assets if you're replacing the original file
who knows what that 4gb actually is but better safe than sorry
Still need a hardlink even when replacing everything?
my framerate is so much higher too
that's the update to be fair 😉
yeah capcom boosted our fps
no it's definitely higher even after the update
for the dlc textures you need the link (or paste it into the main dir as the last patch in the folder)
i think because i'm playing 4K and have a 4080 which is kinda borderline of doing 4K, removing the decompression is helping it out a lot
otherwise you get random low res textures mixed in with the dlc ones
alienware 27" 4k
Prices probably will go up soon so no point in waiting
nice, i suggest you this amazing site to test your new monitor
https://www.testufo.com/
nice, I also have 27"/4k/240hz/OLED
i have 32"4k 240hz oled and sometimes i wish i had 27 for the better pixel density. if i scoot my chair back a foot it fixes it tho lmao
that's a damn nice monitor tho, i also have alienware
@coral notch finally done redownloading and repacking the dlc
buttery smooth 🙂
and I see less low res textures too with the proper texture repack
only decompressed the dlc, right?
not every texture is included in the dlc so there is still some benefit to doing the normal ones as well
yes but i'll try with the normal pak uncompressed
the new zoh shia is so epic
it gives me a lot of safijiva vibes
the scale, the music, the intensity
pretty tough fight. i failed the quest twice lol
i think in the 250 hours i've played i only failed a quest once before last night
they made him justice by giving an 8 stars difficulty
failed a bunch with heavy weapons
hard to get out of the way of his fire attacks if you move slow
So they didn't fix the texture streaming issues
nop
@coral notch repacked normal textures
let's give it a try
no hardlink because i replaced all .pak files
First fight I feel needs evade extender
@coral notch the fully uncompressed textures (normal & dlc) are working like a charm
you should post a full detailed guide to the author on nexus
it's really lacking clarity on how to properly use it
What are you talking about? Using uncompressed textures for better perf? How?
@rustic bridge so we have to decompress "re_chunk_000.pak.sub_000.pak" and "re_chunk_000.pak.sub_000.pak.patch_002.pak" right?
nothing else?
and the DLC ofc
The mod page does a stunningly poor job of explaining how to use it
yes
and if you plan to use high res textures
dlc/re_dlc_stm_3308900.pak.sub_000.pak
just decompress using true/true then replace the original files with decomped ones?
yes, exactly
getting an error that the sub000 file looks corrupted
when trying to start game
I have latest reframework nightly
check the size
its 35 gb compared to the original 21gb
do you have the exact size as mine?
yep
yep
well it's weird
maybe retry the tool
maybe you got some corruption in the process
you can't inject reframework through sk if you're using pak mods
rename reframework64.dll to dinput8.dll and it should be good
yep that fixed it
Do I need to download latest night build from reframework github?
You don't have to but you should
I basically did this with true/true. Nothing more, nothing less. And then started the game.
What’s with hardlinking? Do you have to load the new (uncompressed) pack files somehow or the game does it on its own?
game is now crashing with the update, I got the latest REframework installed, do I need to install a new version of Special K too I assume?
Well fcuk me sideways! It actuallly works. High-res texture pack and no stutters.
High res vs normal
I doubt sk is the problem
But you should update it anyways
Reframework works fine
i fixed it by using the last version of Reframework instead of the new one lol
glad i kept the dl for that
It's always on the GitHub anyways
oh that's good
I dunno what version I had, I didn't update it in a while tbf
because I had everything set for a bit
Some mods need updating when reframework updates
Catlib and mods that depend on it seem to break very often
seems like all the mods I have are working luckily
just like the buff glow etc
nothing crazy
Huh. I patched the large main game pak and the dlc hi res texture pak, renamed the decompressed files to match the old one, and it looks like some textures are fine, while others are randomly low res?
Did I fuck up lmao
Set both values to true when decompressing
You have to copy the hd pak into the main game dir as a patch
Otherwise that happens
you dont copy it you make a hardlink
Or that yeah
i posted the cmd up above lemme find it
here
my files are named differently though
two highlighted files are decompressed
do I have to start over?
Yeah windows cmd
do i still hardlink it as patch_005 even though I don't have 003 and 004 since I replaced those instead of patching
This is why I didn't mention this tool more. It's pretty convoluted lol
It works well when it's set up correctly but it's easy to mess up
it's really not that bad, just need someone to make a straight forward video tutorial and it would clear up a lot of the confusion i think
I'm still not sure what I should rename these files to
fixed the file location line though
It needs to be 003 in your case not 005
and that's the only change? changing 005 to 003?
I believe so
you're still in the users\kobold directory, need to paste that first line first
huh, interesting
I may have misspelled the directory location
hm, copy/pasting the path still leaves me in the main directory
and yes I know you have to put cd first
i keep getting hit with this error.... hmmm
Might need powershell and not cmd? Not sure. I haven't messed with this personally. I just copy paste the file because I have a ton of drive space.
looks like you were right
I didn't have permission to enter that drive
Getting the same error as Towa now
Using powershell?
yes
i was using powershell yes
No idea then
ah, you can't run it from powershell
you have to run cmd in admin mode
looks like the command you're looking for is "/d"
so cd /d "drive and path"
While running cmd as admin
although it's still not working right for me, ffs
nvm I got it
that was like pulling teeth
ok so the patch file this generated is now 111gb ON TOP of the 111gb uncompressed file in the dlc folder
do I need both, or can I delete the file in the dlc folder now?
@coral notch (this is my last question I swear)
You need both
But it's not actually taking that space if it's a hard link
That's the advantage. Otherwise you could have just copied pasted it and avoided that whole headache lol
ahhhhh okay
If this is what the training room box is supposed to look like with the highest res texture pack enabled, then we're good here
this worked for me too, cheers
Hi !
Is anyone having major performance problems since TU1 ?
Game was running fine before, now Reshade stutters all the time, I can see it being on then off then on in quick successions, game freezes for a full second on texture load … Have you had to do a shader recompile after updating ?
Also, HDR is completely broken, with or without RenoDX, worked perfectly yesterday 👀
The game apparently goes funny with missing and low-res textures if you don't hardlink the DLC as a patch in the root folder
Yes ~ the game stutters like mad when moving the camera because of fucked up decompression
Yea but ur gonna have to do it again every time textures get updated
Unless the tool can only uncompress the modified or changed ones
Might be worth reserving space for backing up the compressed high-res texture pack, then. We'll see...
delete the old shader cache, let the game compile new ones.
If you've deleted the original pak it's gonna have to redownload everything the next time it's changed
Not sure how often that's gonna happen
Yeah, many have reported this. Decompressing makes it go away, because the game just stutter-struggles to decompress on the fly. It's so stupid.
Yeah :(
~70GB to ~106GB
It's not the worst thing in the world, if you seek to replace the file... but if you want to backup the original, hope you have the drive space...
~5 minutes on an NVMe? Frankly, it depends on how fast your drive is. Mine didn't take long at all, happily.
Wat
So, you can have it installed, being using high, and you'll get stutters just from having it present? WTF
You can probably save more space by just replacing the two base files, as they'll probably never be altered, hopefully
they do
well
depends if capcom takes the add more paks route
or add files to the paks
whenever they add new textures
Yea, I figured that out after closely reading the comment on the mod page.
It’s working perfectly fine now.
if i've got reshade installed my game just straight up doesn't work anymore, black screen
i think reshade dies in this game if reframework isnt installed
i've been launching the game via SK and loading reframework through SK as well
reframework has issues when loaded through sk
although it should only be pak mods dont work
so idk
they added a pak for this update
pretty sure mizutsune is in that extra pak
new layer set 🙂
unpacking the files are suprisingly fast lol
I though that it's going to take like 30 minutes
but it only took like ~1-2 minutes
yeah the tool is multithreaded properly
ok it's time to test
Hello, juste a question... With all the talk about the ladder ban and everything, I'm a bit worried about REFramework and RenDX (the only things I need). Are they safe? Because if not, it kills my motivation to play.
Capcom only bans people that were reported by other people afaik
and World was FULL of cheaters
the whole ladder
I don't think that they are banning reshade/ref users
I have tried to play without renoDX but if you taste it... i can play witouth haha
I want to play legit but i cannot stand the flashbang at every transition in HDR without Reno...
there is an always online "sanity" check running which means if you actually cheat damage numbers etc, then they can technically ban you
I'd love a video tutorial on how to " decompress textures for dummies "
English isn't my main language and the update apparently made things trickier
@rustic bridge The DLC texture pack is only using around 10gb vram? Is that normal now? With the decompressed files
I see no missing/low res textures
do you have a hud toggle?
I use SK to measure the VRAM usage
i check in real time high/high res textures with hud off
it's reloaded in real time
yes me too
vram usage should be tied to your vram budget
the difference between high and dlc is around 400mb lol
same 😮
in the desert area at least
i think not all textures have high res version
i have a mixing of low/high res
but no more stuttering yay
the frametime graph is a flat line now with the DLC textures
i did a comparison yesterday on arveld
without sharpening neither upscaling
high res is more detailed than high
does uncompressing texture could help on a 8gb vram card?
thing is we all use upscalers with sharpening which diminish the difference
yes especially if the GPU is weaker
so people with low vram budget should use high
true
honestly just use high textures at best
So i'll use high textures like before but with decompressed from the dlc?
no need to decompress the DLC texure pack if you are not using it
you can decompress the normal textures pack for less stutters
it can help if your ssd or cpu is a bit lacking
5700x3d and an old NVMe drive
well you should not stutter then
yea, it takes only a minute to decompress the files, you can test it
medium/high textures should be pretty smooth on your pc
it's a sn750
thats actually not a bad drive
i'm alraedy using the high preset from base game
is that direct storage compatible?
yup upgraded the dll as well
swapped to preset J for less ghosting,
do you still have to do the symlink etc like i saw in the comments on nexus?
it's pcie 3.0 so yea
should not if you're not missing textures
is there an updated step by step guide somewhere?
you just have to replace the original files with the decompressed files
and it should work fine
from the nexus download ? the 17gb file?
use true/true
I'll check :)
i came here to grab the newest reno release but will gladly take less stutters

speed
and once this is done I just can play the game ? used true/true like said
so i target this file with tool
yes
yes
re_chunk_000.pak.sub_000.pak.patch_002
looks good
will check now, though don't have any frametime graph so can't check
what game brightness do I use for renohdr ?
I've peak brightness of 1000 nits on my oled
this is what it shows
my fps seems broken, i don't remember having such "low" fps on base camp
I need a refresher:
a) SK still works?
b) REF still works?
c) RenoDX still works?
do I need any updates for any of these?
Also can someone link me a howto for the decompression of textures? (I use the DLC textures too)
There is so much info out, and many are different lol
yes, yes, yes
for the decompression, use the tool for the 3 following files with true/true options
re_chunk_000.pak.sub_000.pak re_chunk_000.pak.sub_000.pak.patch_002.pak dlc\re_dlc_stm_3308900.pak.sub_000.pak
rename original files for backup
rename the uncompressed as a replacement
this was the tool? https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterwilds/mods/951
yes
@rustic bridge why do they mention more files here?
so confusing
oh it is the same
I just misunderstood lol
well kinda the same
slight error: dlc\re_dlc_stm_3308900.pak.sub_000 should be dlc\re_dlc_stm_3308900.pak.sub_000.pak I assume
yes
I used F2 to copy/paste the name, I forgot to add the extension
fine like this?
I did rename the uncompressed files, was that correct?
I guess I also need to rename the orginal files to something else
fine like that? 🐸
rename original files with .old extentsion for instance
then rename the uncompressed as the original
as the original oh...
replacing cost less disk space
yeah it is 275GB now haha
i also deleted old packs lol
will try first
i don't mind, i have 2Gbps fiber connection
fun
I guess my addon doens't work anymore
"my addon"
ok just get a blackscreen even w/o it
I guess I fucked something up
with the paks
why is you patch 002 so big nvm it's same size as mine
your patch 002 is named .bak
remove that extension
I will just rename the uncompressed to the old names
probably easier
lol
I guess I'm gonna start afain
you're using SK?
yes
that's why
...
@coral notch need some assistance
you said it is fine before
anyway renamed back to normal and doing
as a sanity check
iorek said something about sk not working with pak mods
well I'm not patching fwiw, I renamed uncompressed to og names
at least at the end
ok
you can't inject reframework through sk if you're using pak mods
ahhhh
rename reframework64.dll to dinput8.dll and it should be good
gg
I remember Kal said that too
if you mess with textures it needs to use the normal name
I just forgot that
thanks Amu
yw
You're hardlinking the DLC pak, right? 🐸
I messed it up from the start
I was REPLACING True/True but then tried patching way lol
I'm just replacing now
fuck this noise
I decided it was simpler to just replace the originals.
I should have backed up the DLC pak, though... but I deleted it 😅
hehe I have backup
ok done now to test
wow
I can spin the camera with the highest textures and keep 60fps
VRAM ~10GB
wtf
it used to go over 16
Feels good to kill something after failing 3 times, instead of steamrolling it.
I will r estart
I don't trust it lol
this is crazy
I'm spinning in a circle and 10GB VRAM usage
it used to go so crazy
how can I check that it is actually working?
this feels too good to be true lmao
people say look at t he training box?
does it look like highest textures?
ok it is working because this grass looks like ass on high textures
now it looks "ok"
yeah
to make a real comparison between high and high res, you want to be at native resolution without sharpening
happy I can use them now
wild how much less VRAM is used now
anyway now I need to get lens distort working again
game looks so much worse w/o it
ok mod still works just fine
the issue was probably because of my earlier error, all good
i'm using the mod "tweak volumetric fog" since yesterday
it's amazing
default ambient light
tweaked at 0.8 strength
ambient light off
Steamrolling it is okay if you're farming for those materials that just won't frickin drop
I've heard complaints from some that they get all the materials they need from one or two hunts. Bullshit.
Definitely not enough if you want an entire set of armour or weapon upgrades
How have you found Mizutsune to be? I found the fight pretty nice ~ it was fast-paced
easy yes, but very cool
beautiful as always
especially if enraged
the real challenge are tempered or better arch tempered anyway
and of course master rank in the expansion
How do you get tempered to spawn? I'm already at HR 70. :|
it's random spawn on your map
just open your map and check if tempered mizu is in any area
Bah, I was afraid of this. Time to randomly wait, I guess. Wonder if there are spawn conditions...
I swear the performance has gotten worse in TU1
yea, been using this mod since it came out and it's wild how much of a difference it makes
Helps with the fog weirdness when using dlss 4
the VRR flickering is driving me insane
I've got the game locked at 90fps with framegen (if I try to lock at 60 without it flickers even harder for some reason) and it's just super distracting sometimes
if you want to turn the forest or other foggy areas darker then you have to use this mod imo, adjusting shadow/contrast crushes other regions
hm, weird. The VRR flicker seems to have been related to using my monitor's fake HDR setting (because HDR on this thing isn't very good)
switching back to one of the gaming settings fixed it
sad, because the colors really popped on that setting
If anyone wants to use a vanilla like preset with correct colors, cutscenes, brightness, then my last preset works really well imo:
Not a fan of the Vanilla+ setting?
vignette needs to be 0! I have no idea why you guys like that shit lol
not really, it's crushing details and it's oversaturated + cutscenes look wrong
in-game vignette is turned off
games where you can't turn it off are so bad, thankfully Capcom allows us that in most of their games (and REF can do it too)
ok good
I like mild vignetting because it softens the transition from pitch blackness, my room
55" here
yknow, I've never thought of it that way, but with an edge lit display, some mild vignetting might not hurt
fair
I'm on a 27" 1440p display though
27/4k/OLED
I love the mod so far, but sometimes there are places that feel too yellow
this scene, however, looks gorgeous with the same reshade setting
anyone else have a performance regression with reno installed? even deleting and redoing shader cache the performance without the mod is way higher grand hub i get barely 60fps and without the mod im 140+
that only gets worse when fights are going on
renodx does effect framerate
but that much?
but from 140 to 60 sounds very wrong
on a 9070xt
sounds more like framegen is not on when you get 60fps
and framegen is on when you get 140+
yea basically
you are not getting 140+ when you can only get 60 without framegen tho
thats frame gen on
it does sound odd
in both scenarios
60 without framegen translates to 100-110 with framegen
🤷♂️ hub im getting 155 right now but with the mod this same area is 60-70 but feels like its framgen from like 30fps
🐸
i love this game, the diva chanting is so good
switching fsr3 quality to native AA from quality with fsr4 toggle fixes the weird fps dips and spikes 🤷♂️ who knows
definitely not normal
this MF got me sweating in HR lol
The fireball range is crazy
Feel like I need evade extender for some weapons
not like 3-5min like all monsters
damn the CB from it looks sick
wow the armor set is crazy too
hunter notes are good now
no need to go to kiranico or w/e
the fire is too orange
how much RCAS do you guys use for e.g. 4k?
0/50/100
ignore wrong tonemapping (windows snipping tool)
looks like you need at least 50
don't push over 50
it would make the image too noisy and make some ringing apparent
I'm running with 50 right now
above 50 you should start seeing haloing edges
proper screenshot
yeah I agree
i was shocked how games tend to overprocess
rcas is here to bring back some details lost in the TAA process
4k means you have some room for sharpening
as the rendering resolution is higher
even 25 looks strong to me
maybe i'm too sensitive after playing elden ring
i'm not used to sharpening
ingame cas at 0.3
if i go higher, it's noisier and i can spot some ringing at times
grand hub is very nice
man the AO in this game makes me want to cry
quality is all over the place
I don't seem to have all those settings. Is that because I'm using SDR?
it depends on the DLSS preset too, but I use 20
not all settings are available in SDR I think
my 4080 can hold 60 except in very chaotic fights, it drops to 55, but it's not really that noticeable
I want to not drop
I want to hold 60fps
small image quality hit is worth it to me
after all... 4k @ 27"
you don't notice dlss balanced that much there
yea true
it does not look that great on 55" tho
preset K performance preset is fine but it's still kinda broken
I mean preset K
yeah I'm sad that I can't use DLSS4 (Preset K)
I'm fine with 55-60 fps as long as the frametime is smooth
I'm still HR lvl 3 haha
lol
I'm 140~ 🐸
like some textures/geometry is so high level
like in this image
and than you have some that look like ps2 haha
this looks weirdly wrong cant exactly tell you why, but does not look pleasing 🤔 the saturation and brightness maybe
this is filmic
much better, but I'm not a fan of the default filmic preset either haha
#1347155473266114580 message this is my vanilla + take very close to the actual vanilla game look
I still have to work on the fixed exp preset
does it matter if my game/ui brightness is 203 or w/e
and peak 1030~
would these settings still work?
these ps2 assets tho (ignore snipping tool hdr/sdr issues)
yea NPC clothing looks horrible
the dlc texture pack does not help either
I'm experimenting with these fixed exp settings atm:
but it's far from final
btw the settings that you linked earlier I tried just now and in the night it is way too bright
Maybe someone figures out how to fix the exposure issues with dlss 4
yes it's bright on purpose that's how the game is "meant to be" unfortunately
if you want bright days to look correct, you have to sacrifice dark nights :/
fog removal helps
these settings
ah that is what you meant
but yea the daker vanilla+ looks "better" but it's crushing details
sadly true
😄
the tent is full of fog too btw
that bright hazyness is fog
and vanilla+ is trying to "fix" it by adjusting contrast/shadows
That's pretty close to what I've been using
1.35 exp, 42 highlights, 58 contrast, 52 saturation is the only diff
@coral notch something is wrong with my game, i never use the DLC textures
i was suspecting my game using only high textures and the resource monitor confirms it
am i vram limited and that's why the game never load the dlc pack?
If you have the DLC installed, and the file is named correctly, it will use it
