If anything, research shows that people who help others, even when it slows down their own progress in work for example, benefit the entire company the most as they are the source of confidence on the whole work floor. (yet they often get punished for not working hard enough on their own task).
On the other hand 'takers', people who put in minimum effort, and max out the benefit, (so never give back) end up causing the whole work floor to sink mood, lower output and so are detrimental. Yet somehow, it is these types who end up being the most succesful.
