what do the tools in general do in the game

2 ways, either click on in and than click adopt tag

otherwise Settings> profile> Edit profile> scroll down to "server tag"

tools are used to repair decorations (that have no practical use, like Windmill), or to repair buildings later on in the game (like tomato on wheels).
My suggestion is to ignore tools completely until you need them for the buildings, as they are really space demanding

yes, you have basic trades (visit for visit), etrade (energy trade) which you do when you are below 50 energy (if you have more, you can't exchange energy don't ask me why that's just how the game works), and ctrade which is crates trade, basically a normal trade
