Yes they are more valuable than silver, but they end up being about the same as all the other chests once you merge the keys up to them, so it's typically more worthwhile to just open up silver chests and shovel away your gold.

Opening bronze chests creates a bunch of clutter with all the T1 items, but that's totally up to you

For the E003 and E002 errors, it's usually something network related. You could try restarting your router? Or double checking the time on your devices to make sure the networks match up. Does it work using a different internet connection (WiFi/cellular) or on another device?

They are still investigating the white screen issue, which might be related I don't know more than that yet

FYI, It is somewhat advisable just to shovel away all the chest you get before level 20. Opening them early just creates a bunch of clutter when you really need the extra space. Around level 20 you will start needing to merge tools which you get from the chests.

If you do decide to shovel them away, still make sure you keep all of your keys and always 5-merge
