It'll work for any item that you can move around, but for energy it is a great way to store it on toolboxes. You can also use those trees you can buy in the flash deals

They only happen sometimes when you don't have enough space for an item when it spawns, (and also your daily rewards), and occasionally other items if your land fills up when they are trying to spawn
