Unfortunately no. There are keys in the flash deals that you can purchase with gems (but I wouldn't get those until you have unlocked all that premium land)

Other than that, keys drop at a rate of about 1 key per 110-130 crates

I would say do them in order that you found them? In the beginning you'll be running out of wool pretty quickly anyway once you start using it (until you unlock deer), so you might as well go for the sweets station and let that wool stockpile

They help fill in random spaces in between trees and rocks to redirect wood and stone from landing in there. They also help to be used as a divider for things you are wanting to merge, if you want to be consistent about where you put them. If they are not obviously doing either of those things, then it’s most likely people just showing off.
