How does the trading work?

You need a train ticket (They appear in some boxes) and then you can click on the train station to choose where you want to go

depends, i mean getting every 120 to 150 crates per key is not a lot. Considering you get 40 new crates every 40 minutes. Then getting every 30 crates a ticket, and free 10 crates per 4 hours and considering playtime, this makes more than 60 crates per playsession. Playing multiple times a day gives you also a few keys per day

2. tickets regenerate from crates fairly often. like, when I traded with a friend, we were able to keep trading back and forth for like an hour because our new crates from our trades kept having train tickets in them

While chests expire, keys don’t unless you shovel them out. There will be some times in the game where you get a gold key so you might as well save up for another. At that point, once you get a gold chest, you can unlock it.

Considering that, according to your badge, you’re in the level 20s, you’re not at that point yet lol. So just use whatever resources you get from the gold chest if you’re able to unlock it. Your argument feels like, “If I make $1000 an hour, it would be a waste of time to pick up $5 from the ground”, but you should just look at that money as extra money and not a distraction from the money you’re making already, if that makes sense.

Very. Useful for repairing buildings, decorations and providing lots of XP. A last level merge can provide you with +30k XP. If you're just starting, I advice to try to ignore them and use energy for trees and rocks instead, to free up space. If the toolboxes end up taking a lot of space, remove a few, but keep some.

you can just go to the activity in #🎮│farming-activity and ask to 'etrade' (if you have less than 50 energy) OR 'crate trade' (if you have over 50 energy) and when the other person visits your farm they automatically get prompted to remove any objects.
you will also need to visit their farm if you ask to trade and have available tickets!

I do prefer merging energy. It can be quite useful for rapid succession of opening the first and second stages of newly acquired toolboxes, trees and rocks.

Especially the first stage, since it's essentially instantaneous.

Also even if almost insignificant at higher levels, you do get a bit of XP from merging them, so might as well.

Everything gives you the same exact XP. It only depends on the tier of the item you're merging.

So if you're merging crops, you can only get up to tier 3, so not much XP from them. However, trees, rocks and tools can get up to tier 9, which can provide a lot of XP for a single merge.

The easiest you can get are coins, since you're constantly obtaining them from the various markets, and you can get up to tier 7, so it is a good source of XP

But tools, rocks and logs come on the side from using your energy, so they're also great help.
