You'll get it the longer you play it :)

When you fix it you can store it and have the space. The only useful thing I can see for the decorations, besides decor, is the visit optimization some people may want to do like leave all for visits collectibles, besides crates, at the top of your farm and together so visitors don't need to be looking for it. And there's a decor that occupies one tile instead of the 4 tiles a shop does.

While we’re at it, save your gems to unlock the pink areas of land. After you unlock those, you can save gems for opening stuff faster later in the game. Also, always be merging 5, not 3.
