Sometimes they might be running balancing tests on some players. I wouldn't know who or what tests are being ran. If your land prices are expensive, something else might be cheaper on your farm, like the cost to repair later buildings. Or maybe not. And sometimes the tests aren't permanent and might revert back. I wouldn't really know much more beyond that

Always 5-merge when you can, especially with coins, gems, tools, greenhouse, wood, and bricks

However, if you need to 3 merge some crops or animals at some point because you're limited on space, go for it. Same thing goes for those little T1 coins. You can also dig up chests (not keys, keep your keys!) if you are limited on space. I've also shoveled up a lot of carrots in the beginning to make space

As long as it's something you have a lot of, if you need the space go ahead and 3 merge. Check your ingredients list to see how you're doing. It's also fine to shovel up things like carrots if you have a ton of them and need more space

When you say crates, I assume you mean chests?
I would say as you're leveling up, just decide when you're ready to start opening chests. Basically when you're ready to start merging tools to repair buildings. (You'll end up with a lot of greenhouse parts too of course, but also some gems and energy)

It doesn't hurt to wait, but just make sure you're holding on to all those keys so you can open chests when you're ready

The level of your animals will increase the output of the animal, I'm not sure if that alwo slightly increase the chances of a card, but possibly?

Card drops are pretty rare either way, but the chance to get one increases slightly every time you harvest without getting one

I tend to claim the first 1-star, then save nine cards and merge eight of them (keeping that last card for gems)

Cards stops dropping once you have enough cards to upgrade to 3 star. Whether it's 9 - 1 star cards, 3 - 2 star cards, etc... The only way to get extra cards are by a lucky merge. To optimally try to get extra cards is when you wait for either 9/8 - 1 star cards and hit a lucky merge on any merges of it.

Is it beneficial to merge as many things as possible, at once? Or should I stick to certain multiples?

I notice you get bonuses for merging things 5 or more at a time. So should I merge things in multiples of 5, or go further to 6, 7, 8, etc.?

Wondering if this effects my crown count or merge yields, odds of getting lucky or how many more multiples I get. Etc.

Anything past 5, it's just done in sets of 3 and 5, so there's no reason to wait to merge once you get five

There's a 5% chance of getting a lucky bonus when you merge 3, and that happens twice when you merge 5

That won't give you any high odds of getting a lucky. It's just 5% for every merge. Merging five at once counts as merging twice, so you get that 5% chance twice. Merging 10 is just two sets of 5

The only thing I found to be able to fix that, is to either click the word visit when they join the game in the same channel as you, or when they are playing and you can see that they are playing in their profile you join the game through the button in their profile. In order to remove your Haybale, Tire or Tractor: you need to open and play your game on any channel with other players in it (Voice or Text Channel). When that happens, you and the others are automatically friends and are able to visit each other using the train station with a ticket. When others visits you they'd see the icon and then you'd need you refresh your farm to accept the help/visit gifts (these gifts do not stack).
(You can refresh your farm by visiting another farm, not interacting with anything, and then head back; your ticket will not be consumed. Or leave/rejoin the Activity.)

I have someone on my friends list who's one of the few people I know IRL who plays this game, but they regularly don't show up in my options for destinations. Is there a reason for this?

Those players from real life won't show up on your list when you're playing here unless they're in the same channel.
Often they will show up when you play elsewhere, such as DMs or another server even when they are offline. For some reason though, some players seem to drop off the list unless you're actively playing with them in the same channel. hopefully it's something that works better in the future

That's odd. I've been actively playing with them, they visit me regularly, but I'm not able to visit them back. And this is referring to playing in a DM or in another server when we're in the same voice call

I have the same issue with a few players as well. The only fix I have found, and it seems to only work temporarily, is to either click the "visit" option when they join the game with you, or if you click on their profile and it shows that they are playing you can click join game from there and it re-adds them to the list.

Annoyingly, it keeps happening though. Hopefully at least you can manage to visit them using those techniques.

Keys come from crates, at rate of about 1 key per 110-130 crates. Bronze keys are more common than silver, and gold keys will never drop

Also, you will get more chests than keys, so it's fine if you shovel as many chests away as you want, to save space

One last thing, it's not a bad idea to hold off on opening chests for a while. Once you start opening them to get the tools and gems out, it takes a lot of extra space on your farm. Just be sure to hold on to all of the keys until you're ready to open chests

That bug request you posted though, it most likely isn't a bug. The different costs of things are most likely because of many newer players being part of a test for balancing changes. Some things might be cheaper and some things might be more expensive for those that are part of the tests. Percemer will likely give you a response about that at some point though

All of the chests are actually pretty well balanced.

However many players seem to agree that silver is the best, mostly because you can open them more frequently and don't have to save up keys for gold. Some also claim that there might be slightly better chance of a higher tier item coming out of it.

That said, gold can be better if you are lacking space for the smaller tier items that come from silver.

Also, if you are lower level you don't need to open chest yet if you don't want to. Just hold on to all those keys until later and shovel away the chests until you're ready

The only way you can get more workers is if you hire them for 14 days, at a cost of 225 gems per extra worker.

In order to remove your Haybale, Tire or Tractor: you need to open and play your game on any channel with other players in it (Voice or Text Channel). When that happens, you and the others automatically are friends and are able to visit each others using the train station with a ticket. When others visits you they'd see the icon and then you'd need you refresh your farm to accept the help/visit gifts.
(You can refresh your farm by visiting another farm and not interacting with anything then head back and it won't consume your ticket, or leave/rejoin the Activity.)
