Same here. As much as I would not want to judge him as a leader, it just does not sit right with me to disregard his actions during martial law and until now. A lot of people died during martial law and it would not be difficult for one to acknowledge that bloodshed, unless one's moral compass has been distorted by a privileged life. Since he was not affected by it like how the masses were, considering the life he also had during that time, it just shows that he simply did not care about the people.

Sure, let's say that he was still a teen during martial law. Perhaps, he was naive not to notice nor care. But he's a senior citizen right now. Yet, even an apology was not given on behalf of his father's wrongdoings after all those years. Justice was not even served to the victims of those families. )):

During the campaign period, he lied about his Oxford degree and he did not even attend debates. If he truly had platforms for the benefit of our nation, he would have, at least, presented them, explained them, and defended them to everyone. I don't think other candidates would copy his platforms, had he decided to present them during the campaigning period, because the other candidates already had theirs. They stood by them, so what is there to avoid? )):

I don't know, but I just did not see nor feel the passion and love he has for us Filipinos, which all the more amplifies his and his family's statements in documentaries like "The Kingmaker." I also hope he proves me wrong. I really hope he becomes a good leader.

ah uhm I don't really believe his father was responsible for the suffering of people (just my opinion) because I don't really have relatives that I know that are victims except my aunt, some soldier is obsessed with her and got away of alot of things because yk "batas militar" and its I believe its not fem's fault but the soldier itself...marcos only gave them power but if I'm not sure for the others tho

-- he was the president during that time. he gave them the power to combat oppositions held against the government, especially since the new people's army was growing at large; hence, the government was at a very rough position. and since he was the one who empowered them, shouldn't he have stopped them from torturing or killing people as soon as he received reports about it? he should've stopped them right then and there; as soon as any immoral and inhumane act was executed. similar to how a father should discipline his child upon disrespecting or hurting another, or a principal to their teacher-employee for harassing a student --- shouldn't he have done the same?

-- even though we say that our country was in chaos even before martial law was declared, as a leader of a nation, shouldn't violence be a resort not even considered if you truly had the best interests of the people you lead at heart?

-- yes, the people were opposing the government, but why? for sure, they had reasons. and yes, if they ever resorted to violence that led to marcos sr's declaration of martial law, they clearly deserve to be reprimanded with moral repercussions --- but to torture, kidnap, and kill them ruthlessly just does not sit right with me

-- it would really be impossible for him not to know what his soldiers were doing. hence, i hold him responsible. had he not declared martial law and gave them that power, i don't think the soldiers would even have the courage to treat a fellow citizen as inhumane as their lack of conscience permitted them to.

No, mandatory military service means straight up joining the military for however long they ask you regardless of what you're doing.
