#Russo-Ukranian War

Well, it never ended so, yeah.
why is there a french flag reaction?
i think people mistook it for russian-
Bc it’s the closest thing the Russian flag or something
🇷🇺 there's this tho?
LOL
Unless they want an unpleasantly hot summer break, we advise our valued russian guests not to visit Ukrainian Crimea.
Because no amount of sunscreen will protect them from the hazardous effects of smoking in unauthorised areas.

the satellite photos from the destroyed airbase were wild. and then tons of people started fleeing the peninsula.
.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/interactive/2022/ukraine-road-to-war/ this is an incredibly detailed account of the months leading up to the invasion. talks about US strategy for creating a coalition to counter the efforts, how Zelensky and his administration reacted to the information they were fed, and gives details of diplomatic meetings with Russian officials
is it true russia just had a alliance with china?
rumors I believe
i don’t believe so
but i think they do have a trade partnership or something of the sort
been some major developments in the last 72 hours. for weeks, Ukraine command has been telegraphing that they were going to launch assaults in Kherson region in the south of Ukraine, and Russia responded by heavily reenforcing the Kherson occupation garrison. this left gaps in their Kharkiv oblast lines farther north. Well Ukraine has now exploited those gaps and had amazing success with an offensive in the region, liberating a few dozen settlements and threatening the important logistic outpost of Kupiansk. they've probably captured several hundred POWs and there are numerous videos of abandoned Russian positions and smoldering equipment. many different sources confirm all this but here is one map showing the amount of territory overrun in just 2 days https://twitter.com/Nrg8000/status/1567935220489273345/photo/1
the blue area to the right of the black line is the liberated territory. this is probably something like 2x the amount of land that Russia has taken since April after they retreated from Kyiv and Kharkiv and lines stabilized in the war for Donbas
and fighting continues along the new forward positions, situation is fluid
do you reckon theyll keep up this momentum?
they don't want to overextend to far so i don't think they can continue much longer with this pace. one theory for why they advanced so fast was that once the Russian positions started collapsing RU pulled back troops to set up a new defensive line at Kupiansk, which would make the next battle much more difficult. I do think its possible they rapidly take some more territory in this wedge, but will have to pause to consolidate at some point
but long term this is bad news for the occupiers in Izyum. that city was a major loss when Russians took it a few months ago, but it looks like Ukraine is positioning them selves to potentially contest the city again. if they can control the roads to the North, they can completely cut off the Izyum garrison from supplies which will make the city very difficult to hold long term
https://twitter.com/CasualArtyFan/status/1568215104704888833 the rout is continuing, these maps are from Russian sources which always makes them dubious but also means if they admit an area is taken it can be believed
9SEP22/KHARKIV:
As of 30 minutes ago, Pro-Russian sources admitted that 🇺🇦 controls almost the entire western bank of the Oskil River.
Izyum is in artillery range from 3 sides.
Supply routes running from Belgorod to Lyman are also in artillery range.
The front is collapsing.
1064
289
unconfirmed reports that Ukraine has even captured the city of Oskil directly east of Izyum. if so, then Izyum is surrounded on 3 sides
Wait
and i think fully cut off from resupply. the roads from Kupiansk are lost but there were still plausible logistic transport routes on the eastern bank of the Oskil river, but those relied on crossing at the city of Oskil which may now be impossible for Russia
Ukraine is attacking Russia?
this is all Ukrainian territory that Russia captured since Feb
yes, they've made amazing gains in the last 72 hours. and the military analysts I read are stunned at how rapidly they've collapsed the Russian defenses in this area. this is still only in one portion of the front though
So the war is ending or it's the same like before?
region in that map above roughly corresponds to this black box
the war is a long ways from over most likely. however just for a sense of scale, Ukraine has captured several times the amount of land in just 72 hours that Russia has captured since April
Oooh
https://twitter.com/TarmoJuntunen/status/1568227635641331713 someone animated the advances of the last 3 days. though this is already outdated since it doesn't include today!
AFU 🇺🇦 counter-offensive in Kharkiv region for the last three days 🔥

I can't help but feel happy from all the news
Russian troops just fleeing
And Ukranians are taking many of their land back
The war is far from over but this massive success is fantastic
and this is just one portion of the front
and russian propaganda keeps insisting that everything is fine lolz
Word this morning is that Ukraine is in control of Kupiansk, Izyum, and Lyman. Not entirely sure it’s 100% though, cities may still be in partial RU control. Very hard to keep up with details because it’s moving so fast.
I haven't catch to these news lately. Is Russia now slightly losing?
They’re definitely losing in the Kharkiv region
it's 100% true as far as i know
ukraine forces are now near Lysichansk
https://twitter.com/defmon3/status/1568595956265893888?s=46&t=paYp0WfGkRchVNdb9Jp5nw Russia reportedly withdrawing from Svatove.
I really hope they aren’t overextending themselves. Lysichank seems far from the base of the new territory they seized
But amazing how Ukraine talked up Kherson offensive for weeks to draw Russia forces south before launching this attack. Utter morons running the RU military
I'm glad that our army is that moronic
Makes it easier for Ukraine
But it's as moronic as cruel
I fear we'll be hearing of a lot of "cases of Bucha" as more and more territory is deoccupied
What’s state media saying right now? I’ve en some on Twitter claiming this is all a big trap that Russia is about to spring.
It's somewhere between "it's fine" and "we had to regroup"
frankly I don't check russian propaganda media that often
so essentially theyre in absolute shambles right now lol
seems like theres going to be a lot of encircled russian soldiers too given the speed of ukraines advance
damn they are near the border now lol
good news
and the bad news that russians are now targeting electric stations
in kharkiv and some other districts there was a blackout this night bc they launched missles at some electric stations
good news is that they fixed it already as far as i know
there were more strikes again this morning and a few hours ago Kharkiv lost electricity and water again
i keep seeing rumors that offensives are continuing on the other side of the Oskil river, but not seeing any definitive proof.
Russia spent 117 millions dollars to left Kharkiv with no electricity for half night
yeah lol
but it seems like they will be trying more
the rumors now are that Ukraine is preparing another offensive heading south from Vuhledar towards the Azov Sea to sever the land bridge to Crimea and contest Mariupol. that would also catch the approaches to Kherson in a massive pincer. its getting late in the year and campaigning conditions will soon deteriorate so i'm not sure how realistic that is, but then again what do i know
LMAO YES!
lowkey curious if, once they reclaim their territory, they'll go into russia's territory
i dont think ukraine will go to russia
maybe like a few km to demilitarize it and then go back to their border
there is no good reason to go further
campaigning in Russia would be a good way to lose the international support Ukraine is getting
they won't probably do that
they stated they want to reclaim their stolen territories back and not take any more land from russia
https://twitter.com/maxseddon/status/1572222923846344708 Russia is finally gonna try to push through its referendums to annex Donetsk and Luhansk. they're trying to do the same in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia which is even more absurd. goes without saying but these referendums will be a total anti-Democratic sham meant only to legitimize imperial conquest. could very well be a prelude to a more general mobilization in Russia.
Putin will make an address to the nation tonight about the referendums on joining Russia in occupied Ukraine, RBC reports.
The last time he did something like this was when he announced the "special military operation" on Feb 24.

https://twitter.com/666_mancer/status/1572220744339275778 and of course state media is already telling us what results they will report after the "vote" 🥴

hilarious shit
they announced that putin will give a speech today
and then he didn't
and they deleted all announcements but the internet remembers everything
and putin's lapdog dmitry peskov is currently not responding to press
and it's all quiet
everyone assumed he was finally going to announce mobilization bc of some laws that got pushed today
but idk
his speech was supposed to be two hours ago
which didn't really spark joy in ppl bc search history for "how to escape russia" rose dramatically
yeah he just announced partial mobilisation
which means he can call up reservists
Vladimir Putin has given a national address in which he has announced the partial mobilisation of troops in Russia.
Subscribe to Guardian News on YouTube ► http://bit.ly/guardianwiressub
He said forces were facing western military operations on the frontline in Ukraine and military reserves would be called up as a result. Putin also said Russia...
he knows he fucked up 🥺
It's mass mobilization in fact
great way to raise morale of your army; conscript a bunch of dudes and send them off with minimal training
i read also that contracts of Russian soliders on the front lines were extended indefinitely. so people expecting to return home in the next few months are now stuck out there. morale
Zelensky apparently said he wanted Ukraine to become like Israel… which is ironic.

There's pure nazism in Russia rn
The Russians went all night handing out subpoenas to the military registration and enlistment office in regions with an ethnic population, especially the Buryats. Russians are not touched much yet, but they take other ethnic groups very hard into the army

hmmm
The prime minister just gave a live speech on national television and men in the reserve forced were called to cerain locations here
i didnt get the email or message on my phone so i might not have to go yet
the mobilisation in Russia really put us on edge here
oh well lets wait and see what happens
we are having a military exercise with reserve forces rn and next spring the biggest exercise will take place with NATO and then I might get called to take part
and the date is right when uni exams start😔
Russian mobilization has been insane to watch. Hearing many stories of immediate forced conscription, entire offices having to register, lots of clips of men being put on buses and drive off, absolutely insane and evil. I saw one report that specifically called on employees in the energy sector who are vets of the army of USSR to register! They have to be what, 55 years old at minimum? Just wild what they are trying h to do right now.
Do you have a source on this?
Thanks.
Putin: We'll start nuclear war and destroy the whole world tomorrow
Russians: Okay(
well rip i got invited to the military exercise taking place in spring
im gonna try and talk myself out tho i have exams at uni and cant skip school for 2-3 weeks
living next to Russia has it's own things i guess
and it's rip? Lol
it is just so inconviently timed i would have no problems if it took place outside of exam session
Latvia is also starting conscription as of now for males in ages 18-27
ok so
i am now realizing
this
Annexation of Southern and Eastern Ukraine is the deliberate seizure of sovereign territories by the Russian Federation located in Southern and Eastern Ukraine.
In February and March 2014, Russia invaded and subsequently annexed Crimea from Ukraine by way of holding a makeshift "referendum" in which 96% of the population voted in its favor. In ...

i heard that the most "google searched question" in russia was "how to break your arm at home" or something along those lines. Its a smart thing to do tbh because then you can't be send to war and I think this also means that some Russians do know what actually is going on in Ukraine
pocket closed even farther today. Ukraine may have cut off any retreat paths from Lyman, and any available are in range of Ukrainian artillary. estimates are a few 1000 Russian troop in and around the city who will either have to surrender, retreat with heavy (total?) losses, or make a last stand and die.
It's illegal to break your arm with purpose don't go to army btw🦉
Russian President Vladimir Putin and top officials of Russia-held territories in Ukraine sign agreements in a ceremony to start the process of absorbing parts of Ukraine into Russia, defying international law.

good luck with them proving you did it on purpose tho lol
btw this doesn't mean anything lol ukraine will take those territories back soon
and crimea too
and i hope to live long enough to see russia fall apart like ussr
🐱 🚬
It doesn't work like that in Russia, you have to prove you didn't do it on purpose
fair
true
Ukrainian army is moving towards Kherson
note that there's (yet) no response from putler about Lyman which is now "a part of russia"
lmao
Polish state television now calls Putin a "war criminal" and "leader of the Russian regime."
https://twitter.com/BarracudaVol1/status/1576717288644177920 this looks pretty risky. Kherson area is heavily fortified and has huge numbers of Russian military after they redeployed everyone they needed to hold lines in Kharkiv. Reports are the advance along Dniper had stopped for now at Dudchany. bridge was blown there so it could just be they can't cross, or maybe Russia still holds the northern part of the city
Ukraine-Russia Peace:
-
Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people.
-
Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
-
Water supply to Crimea assured.
-
Ukraine remains neutral.

i imagine the line they are retreating to is well fortified so there may not be much more momentum to this thrust, although i also thought that for Kharkiv region and we know how that turned out
https://twitter.com/ralee85/status/1578605975979708416?s=46&t=ZKfgGhooXwAyrUUbqNSxcg the Kerch bridge went boom
Very clear view of the vehicle portion of the bridge that collapsed and the railway portion on fire.

It sounds like theres little structural damage to the train portion as well as one of the two car portions, so they’ll probably be able to start train and road service again soon, at least on the portion not currently sitting in the strait.
it makes me cry to see stuff like that

smh
👁️👄👁️
It isn’t really russia (like the country and the people) but like the government/president fault that allow these things to happen
you know
there's this little thing
called
"propaganda"
don't you heard the news about a russian teacher who spread the news about this war and got into like 10 years in prison for false information and propaganda or smth
the people supports the invasion because they're forced to
just look at the referendum about annexing those 4 or 5 regions
ye
i know about that
but only 30% of russian dont like the war
70% still support
russia is like china
china is like russia
they are the same thing

lol
i am telling the truth
this is discord
not china or russia or north korea
yeah it sucks living here among this shit
i thought maybe full scale war is something ppl would actively protest against
and was proved wrong literally days after invasion lol
i lost all hope that ppl here will someday see the truth even when russia loses (which is just a matter of time)
Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu has ordered his troops to retreat to the Dnipro river's right bank – meaning they are surrendering Kherson, the only provincial capital captured during the invasion.
This had been coming, but is a huge setback.

yay

How is that connected to the actual conflict?
for an unfamiliar american, what is article 5?
nvm i googled
I’m looking, and people are saying that Poland will more likely call on Article 4.
Right on the top here.
Which doesn’t preclude an Article 5 response, though.
yeah, could be a streamlined 4-5 thing
as streamlined as global conflict can be i suppose
very scary moment, but i doubt Article 5 is triggered over this. it was probably an accident. i'm guessing stern condemnation, a non-apology from Russia, and then Ukraine is sent more air defense or something like that
I've pointed out on other servers that Russia can't aim for shit. So I'm guessing its an accident.
As an update, it seems the explosion was actually a Ukrainian anti air missile that had been fired at a Russian cruise missile but strayed off course somehow and landed in Poland.
Ah, gotcha. Definitely tragic but completely changes NATO response
Hoping everyone is doing ok!
Wishing the best to allUkranians going through this. You have my prayers,
Thing that bothers me the most is how everyone for the last 9 years refused to listen to the story of the other side and why the people of donbass would be willing to fight so hard and and sacrafice so many lives to be free of ukraine, it should raise the question to pro ukraine people of why they would fight so hard to be with russia of whom the world claims is evil,
People don't fight like this and this hard because they are being forced too they fight like this because they believe they are fighting for a good future.

Hey guys, I'm from Ukraine, and if you have any questions - I'm ready to give you some answers
How has the war effected your daily life? Do you still go to school/work normally?
The beginning of the war caused a lot of stress to me and my family and friends as well. Some of them are now in EU countries and i’m not sure I’ll see them soon. Fortunately, I live in a region, that isn’t bombed so much as Kyiv or Kharkiv for example, but there were some arrivals near my house. I still go to school, but i have 2 weeks a months an online education, and we go like 2/2. But when there is an alarm, we’re going to the school shelter, waiting for the end. It’s always a lot of stress, and they now off the electricity and we can be like 16 more hours without light, internet and central heating, it’s hard but all of us are getting used to it.
I'm sure with recent German and American tank shipments the war will be over soon
I’m sorry to hear that. I hope your family and friends are safe, and that there won’t be any bombing in your area.
As a Finn, the war caused great anxiety in us aswell, considering our past with Russia and the huge border we have with them. Being Russia’s neighbour is one of the most stressful things there is lol.
I wish you well and hope this awful war will be over soon!
Not so sure that the tanks will be that big of a thing. Sure they will help a lot, but considering Russia’s attack ”stragedy” seems to be based on shooting missiles at random targets, I doubt the tanks will make that huge of a difference.
Also, it will take time for them to arrange transport, as tanks aren’t exactly the smallest vehicles there is lol.
Plus I read today that Ukrainian soldiers will be sent to Germany to learn the new Leopard tanks systems, which will also take time.
So in the end there won’t be too many who know how to use the new equipment, thus I doubt they will make a huge impact on the course of the war.
tysm!!!!
But what I feel is more important is what the shipment signifies, the continual support of the west for the right if the Ukrainian people to sovereignty.
Also as an Indian ( who have been staunch allies of Russia since the 1920s ) I can tell u tht Putin has completely ruined the reputation of the Russian state.
They used to be thot of as friends by the avg Indian but now they think tht the Russians are merciless barbarians, so in my opinion Ukraine has already won the ideological war n the battlefield will soon follow
That’s true, it will raise morale quite a bit.
We're trying
How's the situation there now? Has it calmed down a bit? I haven't catched up to the news lately.
BREAKING: ICC judges issue arrest warrant against Putin over alleged war crimes
📺 Sky 501, Virgin 602, Freeview 233 and YouTube
Well, Russia lost war against power plants and now we have electricity 24/7, but situation on front is hard, Russia launched new attack, they have a bad success but battles are very heave, both sides suffering big loses, my best friend in Ukrainian army and he cat be sent to Bakhmut very soon, there are the heaviest battles which remind battles from world war one
Oh my lord, good luck. Hope they find a way to finally negotiate and finally end with peace and with fairness.

Has this escalated?
What's up in bakhmut
After months and months of fighting, Russia finally captured the city. Depending on who you ask, this is either a legendary victory and the turning point of the war, or a gigantic expenditure of Russian military power for a strategically minor city that has depleted their military ahead of an imminently expected Ukrainian counterattack.
Ohhh ty for explaining!
why is there threads for discussing political related stuff?
Because we need it, any questions yet?

The enormous Kakhovka dam, which spans frontlines across the Dnipro river in southern Ukraine, has been blown up.
The flooding could submerge areas downstream, putting parts of Kherson (controlled by Ukraine) and the nearby Zaporizhzhiya power plant (held by Russia) at risk.
The city of Hola Prystan, #Kherson region is almost completely flooded.

Worse could be only nuclear strike
I’m in a bubble so the people I read have been talking about it constantly, but yeah i haven’t seen it break through much to general public here. It got like a 30 second mention on a nightly news broadcast I watched the other night.
The footage has been awful to see, and the occupiers not allowing civilians to evacuate beyond words.
i'm told that america isn't involving in the war, so yeah the war is fucked up , i mean is it still going on ?
US has provided economic, logistic, and intel support to Ukraine but have not sent in their own military and are not likely ever to.

ok fine
So there is some sort of Wagner revolt going on. Head of mercenary company Wagner, Evgeni Progozhin claimed earlier that the Russian military had struck one of their bases with missiles. He’s since said he is going to march to Moscow with his army and hold the leaders of the Russian military to account. Moscow is clearly taking it seriously, they’ve mobilized security forces in several cities, trotted out various generals to plead with Prigozhin and Wagner mercs to stand down. Prigozhin now claims his troops have crossed the border into Russia and are marching on various cities. Not clear yet if what he says is true about Wagner movements, but very clear that something serious is happening.
What a sunny day today 🤠
Prigozjin should fear for his life.
He just openly verbally attacked Vladimir Putin for the first time.
And we have already seen what happens to people who attack Putin. They mysteriously fall out of windows…..
just means he’ll fight all the harder because the alternative is death
What's the most likely outcome of all of today's events
Prigozjin being scared of Putin and retreating back to the military camps in Ukraine
Won't Putin just continue going after him
If Putin really wanted him dead he would already be dead. Just like those guys who fell out of windows.
Nonsense, he can't easily kill Prigozjin, Putin should be very careful now
Prigozjin literally fled to Belarus and is probably fearing for his life right now 🤣🤣🤣🤣
who tf is prigozjin exactly ?
The military dictator of the Wagner Group and former Putin chef.
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/27/us/politics/russian-general-prigozhin-rebellion.html US intel is playing a funny game in the wake of the uprising. hard to know what of this is true and what is kayfabe, but it does seem true that Prigozhin was aiming much higher than he claimed. the risk of his actions were way too high for it just to be to make some show of force -- pretty clear from the fact that he was basically exiled and diminished after stopping at the gates of Moscow. he probably was counting on RU generals supporting him enough that Putin et al would have to flee Moscow and he could try to set himself up. instead the support never materialized and so when he got to Moscow he realized that all a fight would do is kill a bunch of people and had little chance of success. so they made a big show out of reaching some agreement and he left for Belarus. now US intel is leaking claims that he had collaborators within the Russian military establishment (true or not, idk), trying to create some internal discord and fingerpointing. US intel has had a lot of inside info on Russian military plans going back to before Feb 2022, so it will be hard for Putin to just dismiss this as lies.
What? There's a thread about the Ukrainian war on a Taylor Swift discord? That's... random
that's was i was thinking
@fluid cargo @maiden saddle
These topics will be decided on by the mods based on their notability in the news and with server members.
#announcements message
The thread wasn't made recently too, it has been here since around the start of the war
Some worrying news is coming, Russia can blow Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station this night. There are some new Russian soldiers leave the nearby territory
I read this…. Really scary. What exactly are they hoping to accomplish with this, seems like it will be bad for everyone. Hoping it isn’t true.
Exactly why
the current events tab is to allow for discussion of topics that are less appropriate for the general/taylortopics portions. its an important event in the world impacting some members of this community and there was interest in having a place to talk about it.
maybe because it is important
i want to look at you when you will have war in your country
100% sure you wouldn`t say things like that
I am not saying that
I'm just saying it feels random talking about in a Taylor Swift discord
than why r u so cuirious
talking about war can not be random, it is important for everyone. because of russia we might have ww3 so..
I agree
and nobody will go to eras tour if we will have war
and thats exactly why taylor didnt anounnce her kyiv concert
and trust me she would
True
Many people here know each other and talk about all sorts of topics, so the reason it’s in this server is the community wanted to talk about it with each other. Most happen in the general channels but for heavier or more political topics it makes sense to have a separate space where you can have one continuous discussion on that one topic. That’s why they made the current events subsection.

it makes a lot of good arguments. i like this guy, i've followed him on twitter for a few years. he's an American but with Ukrainian heritage/family and joined the international legion and was fighting in Ukraine last year, i think he was part of the counteroffensive in Kherson
Why doesn't this surprise me?
Russia basically banned transgender people today, and gay people are next on the chopping block
so this naturally reignited the conversation about giving LGBT Russians asylum in the EU
and the conversation, of course, inevitably boiled down to "even if they're gay, they're still Russians so they should die"
I feel like throwing up

Agree. This video was so informative to watch. There are so much misconceptions about the Russo-Ukraine war.
I stand with all my Ukrainian brothers and sisters 💜🕊️ I am not Ukrainian, but this war is unjust. I hope Putin is held accountable for his heinous crimes.
Odesa hit by three waves of missile strikes; Russia’s rouble falls to lowest point in almost 17 months
Some updates about the war from the Guardian. This information is from reputable Guardian reporters and various government agencies (mainly the DoD).
Prigozhin is the dude who led that mutinous march on Moscow 2 months ago. an airplane he owns was just shot out of the sky flying from Moscow to St Petersberg and he was reportedly onboard.
Karma is a cat.
ran out of tea
Ew I hate him
I’m like happy he died
I think maybe he faked his own death
My family also thinks that
Some people think Putin set his death up
there is video showing the plane smoking before it crashed and eye witnesses said they heard loud explosions beforehand. seems pretty clear it was hit by anti-air missiles. it was also deep in Russian territory, not too far from Moscow, so its hard to see how anyone but Russian anti-air was responsible. seems certain it was an intentional shootdown by Russian military, which means at minimum Putin tacitly allowed Shoigu or someone like that to go ahead, if not ordered it directly himself. frankly Prigozhin was a dead man ever since he called off his march on Moscow
As I think he faked his own death to go out of politics and hide
That’s what my family thinks.
Same
Man just lives in his own world inside his head
He says too much nonsense lately

I understand why you think this, but I’m not sure it’s generally because they are white. I think the media (and American propaganda) is more focused on keeping Russia down, and not a small country in Africa happy. It makes more sense for American and European politicians to focus on Ukraine and give Russia a harder time.
Ukraine is also a great ally in taking down Russia, which (not saying it’s right but) gives them an upper hand in politics. Unfortunately politicians only care about what’s beneficial to them, rather than helping people for the greater good.
Go Ukraine!!!! 😇
I Love Ukraine~! Slava Ukrayini~! 💙🇺🇦💛
It's Kyiv now (which is a better spelling IMO). Fuck the spelling "Kiev". 🇺🇦
I've missed something. Why did the mods close the "Israel-Hamas" one but kept this one open?
Probably because that thread was constant arguing and insults
they claimed it was too much to keep up with
And way too controversially divisive as well.
They're both wars so if we can talk about one we can talk about the other
Apparently not
This. 👏👏👏
Tucker is a national security threat. And an idiot.
🇰 🇾 🇮 🇻
okay
my unpopular opinion
whilst supporting ukraine, we need tu support russian people (to be exact, opposition)
I agree. The Russian people are under an oppressive regime. I support Ukraine and the Russian citizens suffering under Putin.
THIS!!! How is it pronounced?
Kyiv is pronounced as "ki-yeev" ("ki" like in "king", and "yeev" like a combination of the "yie" in "yield" and "eave" in "leave"). 🇰 🇾 🇮 🇻
Russians also deserve to be supported, since they didn't want this war in the first place and are already fed up with their president's evil whims.
i don`t know what to say. personally, i don-t want to support any of them because they are paying for bombs, that are currently are bombing my hometown
and i think that if they wanted to do smth? they wuold`ve done it earlier, at lest in feb 2022
they do want it bro. the only reason they dont want this war is that theyre soliders are dying, they don`t give a fuck about people who defend ukraine, our home. the same way they did not care about people in occupied donbass, back in 2014, occupied georgia, chechnya, etc. they had more than 20 years to stop it. and they just watched people die
I'm only referring to sane-minded Russians who are actively opposing the war and President Poo-Twit.
what do you mean by actively opposing? honestly, i don't know if you speak russian and can read and see not only russian content on english, but i speak russian and i see russian propaganda and i know what it actually is. what i am trying to say is that it is disrespectful to say that in this war we can blame only putin, because it is not putin who is about to kill ukrainian on the streets with a gun in his hands
every russian is responsible for this war because they saw it happening from 2014 and they did not give a fuck. because they are paying for this war. and i understand they have propaganda, but sooner or later they will pay for every crime they have done. and the price is going to be terrible
Well, what about the Russians who fled Russia because of genuinely voicing their opposition against the war and their fellow countrypeople responsible for it? What about Russians who really protested on the streets throughout Russia's cities and towns, in spite of the dangerously high risk of getting forcefully arrested and brutally tortured by corrupt cops and other abusive authority forces? Before you sweep an entire group of people and hold them all to blame, you need to discern and distinguish between those who really are supporting the war and those completely opposed to the war. I know that you are feeling angry about what's currently happening in your country right now, but there is no need to make such sweeping generalizations, which can only sow more confusion and division amongst people.
if they live/lived in russia, listen to russian music and watching russian movies on streaming services then they are paying taxes in russia. it is a fact, not smth else. by paying taxes they are paying for rockets, soliders, etc. honestly, i don't want to understand them. because of this war started by russia (not putin, russia as a country, as people who live there and as people who kill ukrainians) i lost my grandfather, my closest friend had to leave under russian occupation and my brother is going to war rn. you can't even imagine how hard it is to let him go there. and while everything i am thinking about is would he die there or not i don't want to understand russian people. you can say that you support them when my country won't be under attack, when my people will be in safe, but not now. it is not russians who are suffering.
so
i see
More like "Stupid Operation".
yeah, the war strategy russia used was 100% for three days
But they ended up dragging themselves even longer that it became totally useless, thus giving Ukraine the upper advantages on several points. 🇺🇦
Russia should not have killed innocent people
I hate russia as a russian
this u?
I'm tired of all wars TBH. Can we all just stop and get along together instead.
tell that to the leaders of each country. war generates money. the USA is ironically on both sides of the war. The weapons that Israel are using came from the USA and the food supplies sent to palestine are also from the USA.

Yeah, but I doubt they'll ever listen. Which is why I hold a huge deep-seated grudge against a majority of them.
This song always hits ever since it was released.
it really does
war is still happening it's just the ppl involved have changed
according to your profile you're not from a western country
so perhaps your stance and pov might be different
Nah, my stance is still the same. It's still the same planet after all. 🌏
but your country isn't supplying weapons for the war
it's mostly western countries selling weapons to europe and asia
I know, which is a good thing, yet still.
Yep, it's them selling and supplying weapons into my country too.
yeah our world is not in a good place
you'd think since the world has went through a global pandemic we would have more compassion for each other
But I don't wanna stress about it too much. I'll just keep hoping that things will sort out for the better.
🙁
in some ways it changed things for the better but things are still ☹️

I honestly hope the best for ukraine, but I don’t really care about what happens with the conflict happening there since ukraine is 1 being racist towards it’s POC citizens and 2 the fact that media attention is so focused on this just because they’re white.
Other than that the middle east and northern African countries were (are still) being oppressed by european countries and america. Which honestly gives us a reason to not care whatsoever about what happens with ukraine and russia. No one cared about us, helped, or anything. Yet our culture, and history is being taken by designers brands and foreign companies to be used as an aesthetic.
And completely discredit the amounts of knowledge the arabian peninsula and countries did to culture today from numbers, to surgery, schools, surgery etc
And then white Americans and Europeans decide to call us “uncultured”.
And so yeah i think in my opinion my opinion is valid for those reasons to not really care<3
i didn't know this
Hmm
I think it's a bit of generalisation to not just not really care about every single Ukranian person impacted by this
I think there's room to care about Ukraine and everything that's happening in other countries
Your frustrations are valid however I fail to see the point of you using them as a reason to "not care" about the war. The main reason this is a big deal has little to do with Ukraine and more to do with Russia attempting to restore the Soviet Union and also threatening countries that want to or are considering Joining NATO. The biggest thing here is that Putin is a bully that's going to have to be stopped. Either he backs out of Ukraine (which is unlikely) or Ukraine/ citizens of Russia over throw him. If Putin doesn't stop eventually it will begin to affect you so I'm not saying to dedicate your whole life to keeping track of this but not caring is kinda a toxic mindset to have given the global implications this will and could have
There's a lot of problems in the world right now and I'm not denying the ones you've listed but one doesn't invalidate another
my suspicions were correct
they're going to get transnistria
and the rest of moldova looks like
😔
Question
How does Russia expect to invade Moldova
If they can't even penetrate Ukraine
Russo-Ukranian War
😰
Russia will probably cancelled plans for Invasion of Moldova if they can't invade Ukraine or Moldova decided to join NATO. They'll next focus on Georgia. For context, these 3 countries have 2 common things. 1. Break-up of USSR in 1990-1991, 2. Breakaway Regions. And also lately, South Ossetia decided to join Russia, just like Luhansk and Donetsk.
If Moldova is not landlock, Russia can still make invasion through the sea. But maybe They can't invade Georgia due to them (Georgia) trying to join NATO. You can see in this video

It's the best map, I can confirm like Ukrainian, but it's only in Ukrainian
I wonder which racism is in Ukraine
Russia has pirate republic in Moldova, PMR, there's russian army, there'r not enough soldier to beat Ukrainian army near Moldova but enough to invade Moldova
https://liveuamap.com/ they have a version in english too
Ukraine Interactive map - Ukraine Latest news on live map - liveuamap.com
Moldova invasion is a huge stretch considering their failure to take Mykoliav and reverses around Kherson. there has been some talk of a landing south of Odesa and then moving North into Moldova, but they would be under enormous threat of bombing from Odesa and that land is very poor territory for an aquatic assault. who knows they might still try it. but at the moment just stirring up shit in Transnistria forces UA to keep watch and ties those units down. so if i had to guess (ofc what do i know) i think they're just causing distractions instead of really planning to invade unless the military situation int he southwest changes
Well, I guess it can be distraction too, but Russia already did a lot of stupid things so they can try to invade Moldova anyway. They destroyed bridge here yesterday, it's the only one way to this part of Ukraine so they can landing here and move toward Moldova, Moldova honestly doesn't has army, only around 6000 soldiers and 0 tanks
been speculation that if Russia tries to move against Moldova, then Romania would try to annex it first. would be a crazy development, i have no sense of how likely that would be to happen though
I strongly doubt that Romania will come into conflict with Russia, it is a member of NATO. But Romania can help Moldova unofficially
Some russians say Romanian army already unofficially arrived to Moldova for defence but they say a lot of schizophrenia so I have no idea what can be truth in their words
you could see Moldova asking for Romanian assistance if an RU invasion looked inevitable. most Moldovans would massively prefer Romanian military presence over Russian presence I would think. you are right that its tricky and dangerous because of Romania being in NATO, but i think there'd have to be understanding that Romania would not invoke article 5 based on conflicts alongside disputed TN border, and the idea would be to prevent Russia from invading instead of fighting them. all pretty dangerous in any case, but so is a Russian-controled Moldova
The funniest thing is that Ukraine proposed before to clean this territory from russian army but Moldova refused cuz there live pro-russian people who will vote for pro-russian candidates in any election
you're saying that pro-Russian voters in Moldova would have been upset if they let UKR intervene in TN and then vote out the party in power?
not pro-russian voters, pro-European government will be upset cuz there'll much more people who will vote for opposition in election
right
i have a question for everyone here. How will the Russia and Ukraine borders changed if Russia successfully invade Ukraine?
But Russia already unsuccessfully invaded haha
mb the eastern and southern regions would be added to russia or mb the whole country

i think they will make ukraine a pro-russian government puppet state, or maybe not they'll annexed all of it
or maybe they'll annexed belarus too and make ussr again?
i mean there would still be some tensions in ukraine after the annexation
so mb they won’t annex the whole country
yeah
only if russia make ukraine a pro-russian government they will crush the rebellions
just like they did to czechoslovakia, hungary in 20th century
and then finland
cause it looks like they're sprinting towards the gates of nato
huh
what
i feel like russia will either eventually win or they'll reach an agreement where what terirtories they have become russian puppet and the others become a free and independent state
but i think putin wants unconditional surrender from ukraine
so idk
maybe they'll direct more troops into ukraine?
this is like a 1/2 proxy war
and 1/2 actual war between russia and nato
i dont think ukraine will accept any peace settlement where they lose territory
ukraine could probably sustain this war longer than russia? they receive more and more equipment, intelligence and funds every day from the west (eg with the us's lend-lease bill now approved), whereas russia's economy suffers from the sanctions, the west is slowly removing itself from russian gas and theres (kinda) an increasing amount of turbulence within russia with strategic facilites being set alight and stuff.
ofc this is what im getting from western media so theres going to be a lot of ukrainian struggles and difficulty hidden from that narrative but thats what it seems like.
whole country, hahaha
I have no idea what news u read but it's impossible to capture the whole country rn
read my reply first maybe
you meant successfully in first days of war? Cuz now if Russian will even have success there will be a very modest result
i mean how will russia-ukraine borders changed if russia successfully invade ukraine
Can anyone tell me the news on what's happening cause I'm not rlly sure
um, let just start in 1954.
In 1954, Russian SFSR decided to gift Ukraine SSR Crimean Oblast as gift for what Joseph Stalin has done to Ukrainians during that period.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1954_transfer_of_Crimea#:~:text=The transfer of the Crimean,Republic to the Ukrainian SSR.
A little history of Crimea during 19th Century, Crimean War was fought between Russian Empire and of France, the Ottoman Empire, the United Kingdom and Piedmont-Sardinia (Italy).
A little geography also. Crimean Peninsula is a peninsula in Northern Black Sea. Black Sea is a very important sea which connects to Mediterranean sea through Bosphorus Strait in Turkey (Where Instanbul located.) It is also a point where Danube river located. (Map of Crimea on Google Earth)
Anyways, after USSR collapse and Vladimir Putin become President and stuff, Russia decided to illegally annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014.
Why? Russia need this small peninsula full of 2 million people because of oil, gas and a port
Let's talk about port first. As you can see in the map, Sevastopol is a very strategic port because of trading and stuff. You can see in World War 2. During World War 2, Na*i Germany and their allies almost captured Crimea and Soviet troops retreat through Sevastopol.
About oil and gas, Crimea has A LOT of oil and gas and has about 2/3 of Ukraine's coastline (I believe). And if Russia annexed Crimea, Russia can get those profits from oil and gas for money as Germany 30% of Gas has imported from Russia (Before the war), and use to profit to increase military budget.
~ Tensions and Start of the war ~
On April 21st 2019, a comedian name Volodymyr Zelenskyy become Ukraine's President. Which he is Pro-Ukrainian Government.
With Luhansk and Donetsk be a Pro-Russian rebels and want independent, Russia decided that this is the right time to invade.
Russian decided to have it's allied, Belarus to join the war too. On February 24th 2022, Russia declares war on Ukraine due to tensions and begin "Invasion of Ukraine"
Lol, Russia don't need gas and oil in Crimea at all, Russia has enough oil and gas. It is very expensive to build the infrastructure for this in the Crimea, so Russia has not been doing this for all the time. The benefit of the Russian Federation is only that Ukraine will not be able to extract these resources
due to tensions, really?
Well, tensions since like break up of ussr and stuff
Putin is the only reason of war
For most of russians idea attack Ukraine is insane, it's like USA will attack Canada
under "break up of ussr" Russia can attack most of neighbors

That makes it sound way more insane than i thought it was thanks guys
but nevertheless most of russians support war
This could be a potential ww3 right?
I'm not sure, Russia can't win in Ukraine, in world war Russia will be destroyed very quickly
But isn't north korea being in thei side give them an advantage?
Haha, r u kidding? north korea is useless
i mean the only concerning thing about north korea are their few nukes
use nukes - kill yourself
I 100% sure Kim Jong-un isn't suicidal
yeah lol
https://twitter.com/nrg8000/status/1522871820487372800?s=21&t=mnO8sYMNHPBtgIeg7HQSmw some reports from open source that Ukraine has disrupted Russian control west of Izyum, with some fighting within a few hundred meters of the city. Seems to be mostly raids right not but if they can establish a bridgehead over the Donets in that region and move on Izyum, it would be a huge blow to Russian goals in Donbas
Both Yesterday and the day before lower resolution satellite imagery showed fighting closer to the city, and I've been mapping it accordingly, but I'm still shocked at the apparent ferocity of the fighting around Izyum and how close it has gotten to the city.

Srry I'm not that Indformed i just saw like 6 vids to be up to date
there's something common between putin and kim
they both are cruel dictators
and they both want to live as long as possible
so they won't use nukes
even if they threat that they will
i mean putin has his mistress that lives somewhere not in russia and a shitload of fancy property out of russia
he doesn't want it all to be gone in nuclear blast
he fears that he will lose his control of the throne
so yeah
no nukes

I'm satisfied
every app possible is now canceling russia mb
i heard some singer there was singing an ukranian song
but idk i don't watch tv
btw i had hopes of convincing my parents that what putin is doing now isn't good at all for everyone
but it's hard to resist propaganda-fueled brain
and they keep watching tv where basically every second they tell about fIgHtInG nAzIs
yeah, it was a singer from Ukraine who lives in Russia many years

thx
Btw I returned to normal life after 2 months. Sometimes there are sirens in the city but nothing happens
where are you from btw? Kyiv?
I got one of the Russian warship go fuck yourself stamps.
https://mobile.twitter.com/DefMon3/status/1526216832142790658 Russia had a disastrous attempt to cross the Donets a few days ago. reports suggest they may have lost up to 80 armored vehicles and several hundred infantry. but looks like the UKR army can manage it
you know what's really funny?
about this
on our tv they say that it's all ukraine's losses
shit's hilarious
also i'm jealous i want one too
wow really? yeah... thats not true lol
at least for that specifical crossing attempt
ofx it's not
sadly many ppl here believe it to be true
bc tv propagandists said so
so i'm really curious, what is the general perception there of the war? i see these polls suggesting that approval is fairly high
also i should clarify i don't know if they really showed it i just saw some telegram posts about it a couple days ago
from what i see it's kinda
idk the word
passive?
there are people who fully support the "operation" but there are not that many of them
some ppl are "out of politics" and just trying not to interfere bc they think that if tsar did it he had his reasons
and i see many people that don't support it but few show it
for obvious reasons
if you say something against what putin does you are clamed to be an ukro-nazi, traitor etc
there are people who protest but they get arrested pretty quickly
you can't really be vocal aboit it without being arrested immediately
yeah i remember seeing a number of sizable protests in the first week or two but only like individuals by themselves since
you can't even post it publicly
and the opposition situation is shitty from what i've heard
i guess people moved on with their lives or are just unable to voice opinions
while there are a lot of opposition groups but they are highly disorganized and prefer to shit on one another instead of uniting and actually doing something
kinda
my parents prefer not to ralk about it
my dad was supporting this whole mess when it started
not sure if he does now
mom is just worried about news but she doesn't say anything
i remember 25th of february when he called me and i said that i'm worried that my friends in kharkiv (sry if i butchered the name) are in danger
i told them they send me messages about their city being bombed
you know what he said to me?
"and do you believe them?"
no not quite that
"do you really believe them?"
that was more like it
gross.... yeah we heard reports of similar situations. Russians living in UKR calling their family in Russia and family not believing their stories about what they were seeing
he also said that our army is liberating ukraine (from what? a normal and peaceful life?) and fights the nazis
i've been home recently and basically they have the tv turned on 24/7 and i'm grossed out by everything i heard there
shit's depressing
i don't know how to change yheir minds
yeah i've seen some clips of Russian tv with english translations. familiar with that sort of propaganda TV. its hard for anyone to watch that sort of stuff so much and not be affected. i know that now in cities like Kherson under occupation they've cut Ukrianian TV and only have Russian TV. i wonder how it will impact people living there, i think even people who would want to resist that sort of view point, if they are hit with it 24/7 it will impact them.
i don't think so
they see our army in person and they know what they're doing to them
not quite the same situation, but in the US many people i know have older family whose brains are totally warped by watching too much propaganda TV so i understand how sad it can be to see family memebers fall to that
i hope you're right, but it wouldn't be the first time that gaslighting has warped the perspective of people towards their abusers
took 20 years here
i'm 99.999999% sure that's not the case here
and it's just a matter of time before ukraine army will take kherson back
it's not that it's going to stay occupied forever
honestly i feel have no right to complain bc ukranians have it a lot worse right now
but goddamn
i wish i could change something
i wish i could stop this war
😦 its awful for everyone involved.
fucking putin
i hope this is right. the lack of movement on that front in the last weeks + Russian military entrenchment has concerned me. but i don't expect Ukraine to give up any time soon
believe me they won't
and it sounds like Azovstol was finally captured, or is in the process of being captured
and with lend-lease it's going to be much better
idk what's going on there atm but it looks like they're going to exchange prizoners
at least they wanted to
now that our country has them tv propagandists claim that every single soilder from azovstal ahould be killed
👍
thats what was reporting. then i heard reporting that some Russian officials were backtracking from that. so who knows. wounded Azovstol defenders were evacuated to DPR from what i've heard
i hope it'll go withoit any problems
and tbh I'm sure russia will get them back to ukraine bc they are not in position to not to do so
at least i hope
i accidentally typed "i'm shore" the first time 💀
who took my english today
very dangerous for Russia to harm them right now. they're national heroes in Ukraine now and i am sure there would be retaliation if they aren't exchanged. plus its a benefit to Russian military to get some prisoners back. would be dumb to do otherwise. but they may feel they want to declare victory against the "nazis" from Mariupol
here's thr thing tho
our government doesn't give a two shits about it's army
ppl there are treated like
well meat
does seem that way....
though by everything they have done
i don't know if i should call them people
most of them at least
not after bucha
basically not after everything that has happened over these three months
i still have the recording of the phone call between a russian soilder and his wife
when she said he can r__e ukranian women
"just don't forget to use condoms"
that was
so disgusting to hear
yeah i heard that one. i was never sure what to make of those recordings that Ukrainian army was releasing, thy could be faked. but then that one, some newspaper actually located the people from the recording and got them to admit that they'd said it
it's pretty easy to track phone calls though
so i bet at least 80% of those recordings aren't fake
yeah that one case convinced me that most of them are probably real. i'm just very skeptical of official news i hear from both sides in this war because there's definitely been propaganda in all directions (though seems much worse from Russia)
you can't really trust russian side that's for sure
(except for independent news sources that are (surprise) banned here)
god i hope i can get out of this country someday
if i'll ever live till that moment
every day jumping out of window sounds more and more like a tempting option
i don't know if i really have a future bc putin stole it
don't do that. you will have more freedom to do what you want in the future, i believe it.
i want to hope that i will
really
but it seems just to get worse every day
don't know if it will ever go back to normal
if it ever was
i hope one day i'll be remembering all of this as some kind of a bad dream
lmao
this
they have to
north korea has like 50 nukes max
russia has 6500
north korea is far from the concern 💀
mutually assured destruction yeah
although putin considers using tactical nukes
if nato is provoked then basically yeah if china joins russia
if not then it's just gonna be nato walking right into russia 🤣
with all due respect i dont think putin cares one bit about his mistress if it comes down to nuclear war
no, it's no nukes cause....
nato will retaliate, and even if they destroy some targets, their nukes, at least according to western narritives, are bad and just one will provoke nato to completely obliterate russia
so it's not that he fears he will lose power
it's just that it's a lose-lose that will lead to the end of the world
if they've learned anything from the winter war they wont
but im worried russia's just gonna conscript a million dudes and run through both finland AND ukraine
you highly overestimate this
it is true that they will both receive a ton of military support from the west
- he's not going to mobilize everyone bc ppl will immideatly turn against him
- even IF putin's going to announce mobilization (which again he won't) then everyone will dodge it as hard as they can
except maybe few individuals
people here are used just to sit and consoom propaganda and glorious stories about how our army is "helping"
they don't want to participate
not to mention that this war showed how truly corrupted our army really is
so yeah
highly unlikely
i see
hmm
well
i hope so
the world needs to chill
also do you think turkey might leave nato
if they take in finland
no, Turkey can block Finland if they want, so there's no way that FInland gets in without Turkey's assent. they seem more pissed off about Sweden anyways
they laid out a number of demands to agree to Sweden/Finland ascension, so its clear that there is a price they'll accept. i bet they get in eventually but only after an extended haggling period
Sweden and Finland for world: peaceful and rich countries
Sweden and Finland for Turkey: they're terrorists
There are a lot of such people, Russia has enough volunteers rn
the more volunteers are in ukraine the less volunteers are in ukraine

Lol
Fuck, it's with meme music, watched with no sound(
how major do you think this turkey thing might become?
because i have a feeling nato will pick finland+sweden over turkey
but turkey's already helped ukraine out so i doubt theyd go take russias side if they leave nato
but then again we cant know for sure
Turkey wont leave NATO, they're not dumb at that point, if they havent left when there was tha migrant crisis and when they tried to join EU and got rejected they wont leave over Finland getting accepted
NATO is a safety guarantee for its members, thats why historically neutral countries like Finland and Sweden want to join now
However Turkey will try to get the best deal out of it and keep pushing them back until they give em something
yeah
UR PFP
ik this is kinda off topic but who cares
is that annoyed purple hair girl from duolingo
please keep it on topic
ok bestie
TURKIYE NUMBER 1
Actually Turkey and Croatia, both if whom had some initial hesitation to Finland and Sweden joining have both long since backtracked those threats as the possibility of NATO expansion has become more real
I do wonder how this war will end, I'm worried that it will last for years longer and result in the destruction of Eastern Ukraine and hundreds of thousands of casualties...
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has extended the quarantine and the state of emergency due to COVID-19 until August 31.
What the hell do you know about useless lows? 😄
it feels like reading something from 200 years ago
covid now seems like something from a past life since february 24th
I seen nobody with mask from February 24th in Ukraine and now they extended the quarantine

in most of our regions government decided that covid doesn't exist anymore
something far more deadly has become uhm...an issue
everything before the pandemic is clear in my memories
everything after the worst part is hazy
and the pandemic itself is like
inaccessible to my memory
ah I've just discovered this
But to anyone who's reading, I hope you stay healthy and safe

As a Ukrainian, growing up in Ukraine. Ever remember..? 2014 Annex of Crimea? Exactly.. barley anyone remembers or cared. Meaning if people took action back then. Ukraine would never been in this Genocide, Russia is committing, this is my opinion. But! Everyone else's is different.
What Russia did in 2014 while Annexing Crimea.

This war.. was always planned. But everyone was always to blind to see it.
Everybody remembers and there was action taken, not enough that's for sure but you can't say that people didn't do anything.
I could ask so many, people and they wouldn't know. Very few people paid attention to it. Not to mention the 2018 disaster, if you can remember it.. I'd be surprised.
I'm sure most people in Europe do remember. And I don't know about what 2018 disaster you're talking? Trump saying Russia had nothing to do with the elections?
It was after annexing
In 2018 16 civilians died of Severe Cluster Bombing in Eastern Ukraine. And nobody has payed attention. Till nose
The 2018 one.. or 2022?
What happened in 2018?
In 2018 16 civilians died of Severe Cluster Bombing in Eastern Ukraine. And nobody has payed attention. Till nose
And in the hands of Russians.
In 2018 there has been a war for 4 years
Yes
The war has been going on for years.
Now it has been further pushed to a full scale invasion.
Are you from Russia?
Ukraine
I’m also from Ukraine
I thought u mean Ukraine and Russia are the same
Vinnytsia, wbu?
Lviv.
Love this city
Київ, is pretty
I was planning to visit this spring but something went wrong
lol
Where? It's safe enough here
I left 🙁
And where r u now?
Try and guess 😂
Poland
I firstly thought u r Polish because of name
Daryna is ukrainian
Nope.
Germany.
But im getting home soon, hopefully. I miss everything there.
My friend moved to Germany in 3 month of war when it got obvious Vinnytsia is safe enough
Mainly eastern Ukrainians should be leaving, Donetsk Luhansk arent rlly safe rn
Yeah, every 4 resident of Vinnitsa is from eastern Ukraine rn
Hm
Especially from Kharkiv
well, already used to it
The siren near my house is like in front of it so it’s rlly loud but it’s not that bad
I'm always in earphones so I rarely can hear it xd
XD
I was like a little kid at the time but I remember it
I remember seeing it on the news but yeah it was swiftly forgotten about
Yeah I've never heard about that
From what I remember it was like 3 days on the news saying hey
Russia annexxed Crimea and uhhh
Here's some photos from Sevastopol
Ok moving on to the next story
I was 11 when they annexed Crimea and I didn't understand shit about it
I remember my school aws celebrating (???) this fact we had like at least 3 lessons dedicated to this
and i remember thinking why the fuck does our country need this piece of land so much? didn't we like have a shitton of land? and the sanctions that followed this weren't beneficial for our country?
i remember asking my parents what's so great about it like the whole situation in general and they said something along the lines "you'll get it when you're older"
COUNTRYBALLS
Ukrainian propaganda in the west is terrible
Can you elaborate?
yes of course,
First of all, I'm not saying that Russia or Ukrain is right, and I'm just giving my opinion you can of course agree or disagree with what i'm going to say.
But as we all know, Ukrain started to ask help from other countries especially europe and NATO country. They are showing us only the "bad" things like school being bombed and stuff. But come on it's war, you can't ask your opponent to be 100% precise, they are deads in both sides and we are pretty sure that they put their soldiers in hospital and school to avoid Russia to bomb them and I don't think Russian CBP will make that kind of mistakes. So I think it's wrong to send help only to ukrain. It's unfortunate because Trump tried to improve relations with Russia to beat a greater threat wich is china. By sending military help is to accept a potential nuclear threat.
The ukrainian propaganda is aiming mostly european countries opinion, for example, Ukrain won the eurovision, they didn't win because of their music but because of the war, I think it's really a shame that politics take a part on an artistic contest, i mean where is the fair play ? We can just start a war to win eurovision... It's like Disney which fired Gina Carano because of her political thoughts, We should only judge the artist by their talent and not their political opinion. Céline is a great writer that everybody know and love despite his anti-Semitism.
Also the creation of an international legion is also a big big propaganda, they're asking people from other country to fight for them? If they're only recruiting people who already know war I think it's fine but because of the social media propaganda, but they are recruiting people who are completely stranger to the horror of war and they aren't well prepared even the FFL were better equiped and trained back in the days, so naturally young people join the ukrainian int. legion saying that they will save ukrain but they get killed first because they use them as cannon fodder.
Sorry for my bad english It's not my first language

- Ukraine is a sovereign nation not a part of NATO nor the EU that was invaded by Russia, an at-the-time world superpower. Of course they would accept help from sympathetic nations. Not to mention that a significant part of the reason of the entire conflict is the fact that Ukraine expressed interest in joining it. And one of the main reasons why they ended up not doing it was to prevent a conflict with Russia, look how that turned out for them.
- Russia mobilized their forces first against Ukraine. The first few months of the war is purely self-defense before now what seems to be the starting stages of a counter-offence. So it doesn't really matter where precisely they get bombed, the fact they're being invaded by a hostile military entity at all is bad.
- I literally don't see how Eurovision, a competition that happened three months after the start of the war is relevant in any way shape or form. It's a military conflict, of course the civilian population is going to be sympathetic to the nation that didn't fire first.
- I'm not saying everything Ukraine could do in the counter-offensive is justifiable because they didn't shoot first but because Russia is specifically adamant against NATO intervention, then the creation of another entity specifically to get around that is a simple move.
None of this would be happening if Russia didn't start the conflict. The world in-between 2015 and 2022 were apathetic at best to Ukraine. Then they got attacked. The sympathy goes to the ones on the defensive. Though propaganda itself means any message meant to promote a political view. I assume you mean propaganda that implies misleading narratives. And the fact of the matter is that Russia invaded a weaker sovereign nation in order to claim more territory -- a flagrant disregard for human life and international agreement, just like they did and succeeded in 2014. They're doing it again and it's, deservedly, blowing up in their faces.
I meant misleading narratives by propaganda.
- I know that Ukrain is not part of NATO and EU, otherwise, there would be a 3rd WW. NATO have a treaty that says that ex-Soviet countries can neither join nor befriend NATO. This is why Putin started to invate Ukraine
- Russia mobilized their forces first, but Ukrain demanded to join NATO... There is no good or bad, just consequences, they violated an agreement, I believe that an attack is quite legitimate (militarily or otherwise I am sure there were other ways)
- Because of the misleading propaganda, Ukrain won I don't think this is fair to other country which are legally participating as member of the EU. Why they didn't invite Russia as well ??
Because of the misleading information by the Ukrainian government, civilians are like brainwashed. I thought that media's first role was to relay clear information without political leanings. why do we have to support at all costs the one who was attacked first? it just proves that our society is misinformed and is easily contaminated by this kind of information. - I don't think use foreigner as cannon fodder can solve the problem, it just degrades the image of Ukraine, and it just delegitimizes what Ukraine is saying.
None of this would be happening if Ukrain didn't stop have links with NATO. There is no diffrences between attacking a weaker or stronger nation, at the moment when they wanted to break a treaty, it means that they were ready to undergo consequences.
I mean the annexation of Crimea was made after an attempted coup, the pro Russians wanted to become Russian again so they did it. Plus the UN didn't vote against it.
Russia had an issue with Ukraine joining NATO but did Ukraine join? No. Ukraine literally didn't out of fear of Russian military intervention but did that stop Russia? No. So what was the point? Join NATO and you get invaded. Don't join NATO and you get invaded.
Why do you think the other Scandinavian nations are clamoring to join?
Because it doesn't matter if you're not a part of NATO because Russia will invade you anyway
That's the long and short of it
Nato continued to send weapon to Ukrain, they continued to do military exercises in the Black Sea
Who the hell is Russia to say what a sovereign nation can and cant do
They can't join NATO, they'll try to join the EU instead, and it doesn't bother Putin
They can't join NATO because Turkey won't let them.
Either way, again, it doesn't matter.
They want to join NATO
Because it doesn't fucking matter anymore if you are or aren't a part of NATO
The invasion of Ukraine made it painfully clear.
Russia technically can't because a nation is sovereign of its own territory and politics but if it breaks or threatens a treaty, the other country has the right to counterattack
w8 i have to go talk to you later
it was fun thx
Nothing, I guess.
Idk public reaction has very little to do with Ukraine and everything to do with Russia. The US has been floating around Putin is bad therefore Russia is bad and even since 2016 we've had proof come up that Putin meddled in our elections. Now maybe some of this is American propaganda and I'm totally willing to believe that, but when a large nation is willing to attack a smaller one in the name of "good ole days" and expansion in the modern world, there is a huge issue. During WW2 Hitler did a similar thing in an attempt to bring Germany back to the "greatness" it had before the Treaty of Versailles. We didn't stop Hitler in time and look what happened, Germany continued to grow and people were mass murdered. Putin could have attacked literally any other country and imho public reaction probably would have been the same. Russia has a really shitty history and track record and it doesn't look like Putin is looking to change that.
Also to claim "aim isn't perfect" in regards to Putin bombing kindergartens and such is hilariously tone deaf. Putin is a cold hearted motherfucker and his goal is to have Ukraine alive or dead at this rate. He doesn't view the Ukrainians as people and has actively tried to push out propaganda that they're all Nazi's and such.
He doesn't care about kids he cares about territory expansion and stopping NATO growth
Russian propaganda since the start of the war has made it 100% clear that NATO is a secondary issue to them. Instead, all of the rhetoric from Putin and his media since the start has been about naked empire building. Russian nationalism, especially the currents that Putin and many others in government leadership buy into, views Ukraine as a fundamental and historical province of Russia, and its legal separation a mistake and injustice. Putin has said that Ukraine is a fake nationality, that the country is fake, that they are in fact Russians who have been corrupted by Nazism (defined here as any rejection of Russian hegemony) into seeing themselves as a distinct nationality. The war started in 2014 when Ukrainian NATO membership was extremely unlikely, and not even all that popular in Ukraine judging from polls. What was popular though, and ascendent in that time, was Ukrainian movement towards the EU. Ukrainian EU membership represented in the minds of Russian nationalists an irreversible break from what they view as UKR's rightful place inside Russia's economic and political sphere of influence, and with that the end of the chance for Ukraine to be re-united with Russia. War and conquest became their only path for absorbing Ukraine, as reunification was rejected even among the more pro-Russian Ukrainians.
Lol what treaty Russia and Ukraine have that tells them that Ukraine can’t do what it wants ?
Ukraine is a sovereign nation that does what it pleases on the international stage. Russia is the big bully that behaves as if we are in the 1850s where you can invade whoever the hell you want because your satellite states aren’t being good boys
One quote I really like is that all nations inherit the issues and attitudes of their mother countries. Russia has inherited the willingness to always control the Black Sea and the understanding that everybody has to bow down to their own imperialism or they get tackled to the ground
- I don’t get where you are getting a treaty that states ex-soviet countries can’t join NATO when three already joined NATO: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
According to this document, https://treaties.un.org/doc/Publication/UNTS/Volume 3007/Part/volume-3007-I-52241.pdf , Russia violated agreements by not respecting Ukraine’s border and using force against Ukraine in an unprovoked manner after Ukraine gave up its nukes.
-
For reasons stated above, Ukraine didn’t violate anything as far as I know, so Russia’s invasion doesn’t have much legitimacy (there’s a lot more illegitimacy by violating the agreement).
-
Ukraine and Russia have been participating in Eurovision for a long time, and Russia got banned due to them starting a war (which goes against the Eurovision spirit of unity). Also, I don’t think you have to be in the EU to be part of Eurovision since second place, UK, isn’t part of the EU. Even Australia is participating in it and they aren’t close to Europe at all.
Most of society supports Ukraine over Russia because Russia attacked Ukraine without a legitimate reason.
This happened because Putin decided to invade Ukraine.
I’m still so lost on what treaty you are referring to that states ex-Soviet countries like Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, etc can’t join NATO when clearly some did. I think most of your argument hinges on this ?treaty? so curious to know what it is. I’m not very vested in European affairs, but the facts from this situation seem pretty clear.
Your knowledge of the topic is really low, go educate yourself. As a Ukrainian Citizen i think i would know more and more about this war then some French dude. Ukraine has every right to be its own country dont, agree with me go f*ck yourself.
Ukraine's independence in 1991 really showed, other nations not to be afraid if they were part of former communistic parties, like EX. Soviet Union. The Soviet Union has no influence on Ukraine now, nor shall it ever again. Ukraine is just lets say the most innocent country in Europe. People blaming us for "bombing" Yugoslavia is them trying to make Ukraine look like the bad country. And ever since this war people are finding any stupid excuse to hate Ukraine.. like "Crimea is always part of Russia." "Ukraine's independence is the stupidest disaster ever."
- Educate your dumbass.
- Ukraine is a topic that should be taken seriously.
- Never join this little group again.
Kindly Piss Off.
- Daryna.
Lol, Eurovision always was about politic. If you don't understand even that, then why argue about other things with you?
What do you suggest? Everyone forget about the war? Let Russia take over Ukraine, give it time to prepare for the next war? Start whining about Baltic, Polish or Moldovan propaganda again? Again give some country to Russia? How many more times to repeat this for you to close your fuck? Tell us more about how news from Ukraine interferes with your life while our cities are being compared to the ground here
I got it, u r russian troll, can you say name of treaty that says ex-Soviet countries can neither join nor befriend NATO? I guess not because this treaty came up by Russian propaganda
Even the official propaganda of the Russian Federation does not talk about NATO now, only about "protecting the LDNR and the Russian people"
Putin also said that joining Finland to NATO does not pose a threat to Russia, so shut your mouth and update the manual of Russian propaganda because you are falling behind
I think the propaganda against the Nazis in World War II is terrible. They just wanted to live in a free Germany, Czechoslovakia oppressed the Germans, so Hitler had to protect them, and Poland threatened the existence of Germany, so it had to be captured. I don’t understand why there is such propaganda against the Nazis in the West
Why should we help Poland against Germany? Hitler had justified reasons to attack, this is not our war, Germany does not threaten us with anything. This propaganda against the Germans is terrible - © some French guy in 1939
@frail silo
Is he french ?
A french patriot would die for France no matter the government.
so i read the whole conversation but i don't get why Russia started to invade Ukraine ?
please someone explain to me
simple: putin is stuck in the past and thinks that USSR is still a thing and wants to be a supreme ruler of earth i suppose
also he hates ukraine bc they live much better and free than russia
so he wants to break them and make ukraine as shitty as our country and kill thousands if not millions ukranians in the process
so that's basically it
i thought i'd never see a war in my lifetime and especially the war that my country is waging
honestly i hope russia loses asap
no more innocent victims
and tribunal for every person responsible
especially for vladdy daddy
How many months has it been in this war?
hum ok thx
four
it started february 22th
I fell like it's been forever
exactly
my country is always fighting terrorists all around the world
Turkey just said they cool when Biden went over to calm Erdogan down
Finland and Sweden are proceeding to join
Now we all watch as Putin attempts an invasion of finland 🙄
We all know what happened 100 years ago lmao
St. Petersburg will begin to do the Ievan Polkka
Why would Putin invade Finland???
same reason he invaded ukraine???
prevent em from joining nato
that's his whole deal
he doesnt want nato to expand
But Finland was never part of USSR. I don't think he cares about Finland.
And if he attacks Finland it's over for him and he knows that so I don't think he would do that. Also he doesn't have the manpower since his army is still fighting in Ukraine.
And Finland is way better prepared than Ukraine was AND Finland is in the EU so if he attacks Finland the other EU members would have to help them, since there is a defence pact in the EU. It's not as strobg as NATO but legally they could help Finland out. And France is an EU member and a nuclear nation so that would mean a possible nuclear war so he wouldn't do that. Maybe if he could've defeated Ukraine quickly he might've concidered it but right now that would be stupid, like really really really stupid.
he's not going to attack finland lmao
no chance in hell
he's too afraid
they (our government) were recently threatening lithuania (i hope i spelled that right pls correct me if not) bc they blocked kaliningrad
like threatening with war
and they didn't do shit besides pleading "pls unblock 🥺" lmao
they aren't going to attack any country that's in nato or eu bc it will mean an instant end to russia
and even if they did they basically have nothing to attack with
almost all avaliable forces are in ukraine right now
and mobilization will lead to nothing
yeah as was stated before IF puton successfully defeated ukraine he might've considered it
but "dA sEcOnD mIlItArY iN Da WoRlDz" is struggling these four months only killing innocent people out of spite
with basically no grand military successes
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Finally!
Finland and Sweden are just joining NATO, so they can be protected. Plus yes there are threats, but Putin's lost all of his military, to the war in Ukraine. Well basically all of it. In Putin's books, there's no such thing as peace, Can't believe he's losing to the poorest country in Europe. Remember Putin wont win this war, im 75% sure. This "Military Operation" Is a way of distracting Ukraine from doing what it actually wants.
i'm not 75% sure i'm 100% sure
even as russian citizen i wish nothing but failure to my country
and believe me ukraine will win this
it's just a matter of time
and help from other countries
ok i don't even want to call myself a russian citizen that makes me sick
from now on i'm "a person who just happened to be born in russia"
being russian citizen isnt anything bad, especially considering that you are aware of what is happening and you know that its bad. i just wish more russian knew that
you can spread awareness, or atleast try to, your family, friends etc. its very important that people know whats happening on the other side of the border, cause the situation is looking pretty bad
but atleast nato will have two more members now
Do you live in Russia?
I was aswell, but im Mainly Ukrainian and Belarusian
But im still
That one weird Russian kid even tho.. im not even a half russian.
