There are some confusing people who randomly pop into this thread
People who clearly aren't old enough to vote supporting Trump, and swifties for Trump that can't for the life of them give a single reason they support him
So technically it would be making it illegal without making it actually illegal
anything labeled “politics” is a massive attractor for anyone seeking engagement
i just wanted to know if the robloxer was 13 or not tbh
Project 2025 wouldn't make gay illegal but it would make trans illegal. Just look at Texas and Florida, you're essentially no longer able to legally change your gender
They're still trying to overturn obergefell
Yeah that too
It would make both illegal
If they were to apply it like it states, then yes
One of the justices even suggested overturning Lawrence v Texas. THAT would make gay illegal
They fully want lgbtq people to just not exist at all
Which tbh would seem to be the case, and that’s just terrifying
Or the ‘don’t say gay bill’
thomas is a rapist like quite literally so he's gonna always be like that
Ikr
i want to know actually probably not my best idea
ugh. don't even get me started on desantis
I hate that mf with a passion
Laura Loomer is essentially the character Firecracker from the TV show The Boys
💀
Like literally 110%
Yes
Chappell I love you but this is lame
Like I don’t necessarily disagree but voting is so important rn 😭
damn i did not know she said that
I was literally about to try and read it but rolling stone is fucking me over
i feel like honestly
this election is not the time to be saying stuff like that
"i hate both sides"
like pookie one side wants to take away rights and also end our nation as a whole
yes exactly
Yea wish she would take a hard stance but with whats going on for her rn i dont blame her
my guess is she's saying it cause of both parties responses in regards to the conflict in gaza
Before rolling stones told me to go fuck myself i read that shes had a few un-aliving thoughts and almost went through with one this year i think
lord
Apparent someone is stalking her and she had a fan run up to her and kiss her unwarranted
that’s probably the case and i understand why she might dislike both sides but it’s so important that trump doesn’t win this election
oh yeah she talked about that being the reason she called out directly
Yea like thats SO fucked up, you dont fucking get the right to assault someone just cause you like their music and now you think you own them 💀💀💀
the one thing that frustrates me a lot with this election is some leftists being like "how dare you vote/support kamala she's a zionist this and that" like my brother in christ would you rather DONNY BOY GETS THE WIN?
Yea 💀
like the thing is in terms of the conflict stuff both sides aren't the best however kamala has been at the very least more supportive of working a ceasefire vs trump
and as mentioned DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE AWAY RIGHTS LIKE MISTER "THEY'RE EATING THE DOGS"
is she even a zionist? she’s spoken out against the killing of palestinians
i know that’s not perfect but she would lose so many votes if she said israel was doing genocide
And doesnt wanna take my rights away
i don't even know man 😭 it's just exhausting
but i've said this before and i'll say it again (I stole this from someone else
)
Random but i like ur pfp and banner mikeey lol
damnn those are great pictures
when you take a bus let's say home you're taking the bus that will take you the closest to your destination aka your home
so let's put it like this
Is bro casually carrying a 4k quality camera?
with trump and with kamala
i remember this analogy i liked it a lot
Ive never heard this
which will get you to the destination aka which will give you the outcome you want
This is absolutely absurd to say
aka a ceasefire in gaza
trump? he ain't gonna get you to your home
he'll get you to a bus stop 50 miles away from your home
that ain't gonna help you at all
but kamala?
she'll get you to the bus stop right nearby
I think single issue voters get too caught up in their morals by voting third parties and stuff and they don’t realize that they’re actually voting against their issue
the point being: you're voting for what person is more likely to get you to your destination or in this case your end goal
the problem is THIS IS NOT THE ELECTION TO DO THIS SHIT
I will listen to taylor swift instead of chappell roan!!!
Donald Trump is doubling down on the debunked claims that Haitian migrants are eating pets in Ohio. Singer John Legend, who was born and raised in Springfield, came to the defense of the city's Haitian immigrant population. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris is embracing Taylor Swift's endorsement. Her campaign has created billboards with a nod to the me...
At least Taylor knows to vote in such an important election like this tbh, this isn’t the election to just not vote. Unless you’re not at the age to vote
I'm probably one of the older ones here lmao. I am of age
im just glad she spoke up cause people were getting annoying with the mahomes shit 😭
she spoke up a little sooner than I expected but im glad she did
honestly it was probs calculated / set up by her and kamala's team
Smart!
Wish I was of age to vote
she's right though. establishment dems aren't going far enough.
ok looking at the chappell quote fully
it was apparently done before kamala took over everything
If anyone's curious, here's the top 10 ideologies I align with the most and the people in the election I align with the most
Vote Kamal Harris
Personally I don't really care for Sonski, I didn't even know Williamson was still running and with Stein and West, they don't have enough of a following nor do I know enough about them personally
Have to go with Kamala of course
For VP, I agree with Tim Walz 75%, JD Vance 61%
Personally I do prefer Tim Walz over Kamala
Kamala chose a good VP I'll give her that
This just reaffirms for me that establishment dems are just right of center in the span of global politics.
Yep, nothing too deep with the dems
the ideologies part I would take with a grain of salt, half of these I didn't even know were ideologies
wtf is a Nordic Model
It's not great, because I'm a lefty. I have no viable options in this election except for toeing the party line atm.
Some say American politics from a universal political spectrum is very far right
unfortunately
Yeah I've noticed some similarities between the democrats and republicans except for social policies
social policies that's where they differ the most for sure
You probably won't find anyone that's extremely far-left in US politics anytime soon
In terms of party alignments, I lean more toward democrat than republican and libertarian
if the No Labels party actually had people running and had people whom were very passionate about it, I'd go with it
Realistically the No Labels party is likely where the majority of voters in the US would align with
We should have coalitions in congress like they do in parliament. It would be so much more representative of the diverse interests of the country.
So I'm not sure how true this is, but apparently don jr is the one who picked vance, cause originally he wanted to be vice president, but trump told him nope, but then convinced him to have vance be the pick, so once trump got in they'd use the 25th amendment, which would push trump out, making Don jr the vice president and vance president
Giving the heritage foundation the full control to enact project 2025 and have complete immunity from the Supreme court
I've heard crazier things about Trump's campaign cronies
But I'd have to see some evidence.
That makes all this make way more sense
Well, especially because so many Republicans have come out directly against Trump in general.
Plus afaik vance was always super involved in project 2025 and the heritage foundation to begin with
It's people like him that make me almost miss Mitt Romney. This all makes him feel normal.
At least with Mitt Romney running against Obama, it made republicans look more normal
Trump really messed up the GOP and honestly should go back to their old roots where the GOP was more agreeable
He at least seemed like he genuinely cared about the country. He was one of the first big conservative* whistle blowers on Trump too. Better than turtle man Mitch.
Yessss more tickets 😍😍😍
chappell its giving performative but also chappell is just kind of doing her own thing and she very clearly does not subscribe to a harm reductionist mentality (not shaming her I love her) so this is isn't surprising
As a German, it’s always funny to see what people see as “left” in the US
Both parties are in the top right quadrant of the compass
What’s happening in Germany is scary
But nothing gets done
You’ll have back and forth ideas with nothing getting put into legislation
The two states that had elections are historically right-wing unfortunately, but I agree. It’s messed up.
she’s not wrong , government sucks but we do need to vote , both sides aren’t the best but one is definitely better than the other
she’s not necessarily wrong but this isn’t the election to be saying stuff like that
Mikeey said that the quote was apparently before kamala became the running canidate
I love Chappell but she needs to focus more on unity if she wants to accomplish a goal in politics
Like, I hate the 2 party system. A lot. But that's the system whether we like it or not.
Every choice we make in life is going to be some form of choice that's better than the other. And it's rarely for anything you're 100% on board with
An all-or-nothing mentality gets you nothing
Like, what's happening in Gaza is humanitarian disaster. Kamala came up with a much better resolution to the issue than Trump ever would
Trump's stance is let Israel do whatever they want even if it means leveling the entire Gaza strip
Kamala's stance is to try to negotiate a ceasefire deal that she acknowledges will be hard and work towards a 2 state solution
If someone is a single issue Gaza voter, the choice is clear as day
i miss john mccain
Trump: Latin music superstar Nicky Jam. Do you know Nicky? She’s hot
(Nicky Jam is a man)
Trump thought a singer was a woman and called him hot
💀
Crazy 😭💀
Nothing gets done already
ick
compared to trump i mean
fair
Damn that's petty af from the mother
US politics isn't that deep tbh
We don't live in a country where you get your head chopped off for speaking your mind so I dont take politics too much to heart
Where did you get this? I'm curious what mine would look like.
I say they're just fvcking bad.
And I am literally American.
The website is called "ISideWith"
It was pretty helpful to see which person I agreed with the most cause there's a lot that goes into politics other then economic and social policies
It goes into Immigration, technological, and other issues
Very helpful for anyone trying to put two and two together with politics cause it can get very confusing to be certain on who to vote for
Even I'm not 100% certain that Kamala will be the right choice for me but the website has me aligning more with her than Trump
It increased my certainty from 40% to 70%
Aligning with Trump is by-and-large a bad idea so good for you
I know I'm voting for Kamala.
There are only 2 choices.
I'm mostly just curious about the most accurate label(s) for my political views. Not the people. Unless they have stuff beyond presidential candidates
Yeah, in my opinion he was definitely more reasonable in 2020 but in 2024 he's just unbearable to deal with
In 2020, it was Trump vs Biden and lets just say Biden isn't really a guy that is well suitable for political office
But somehow won
With Trump in 2020, he seemed more believable cause a simple guy like me wanted lower taxes and he was already in office around the time so it seemed more clearer for me to vote him until after the election.
After the election, he was just unbearable I stopped supporting him
Biden's administration I will say I'm not too impressed by, it seems like people have more negative things to say than positive about him
Hopefully Kamala will do better
Trump has never been reasonable in the entirety that I've been familiar with him which encompasses more than my entire adult life from 2015 to 2024
and thats a fair opinion to have
Trump was better as a reality TV star
His political era is pretty toxic and not as entertaining
Biden got some very important policy passed
The only major policy Trump got passed was tax cuts for rich people
Not to mention Trump was one McCain vote away from killing the ACA with no plan to replace it (although I guess he has concepts of a plan 8 years later)
The few days during which he had COVID he looked and acted almost like a normal human being, likely because it knocked the wind out of him. But outside of that, yeah, never.
yeah that's the like thing they're trying to spread now
that she "lost $150 mil cause of supporting kamala"
my mom sent me a facebook article and was like is that true
and i was like no it's very much not 😭
This is disgusting
How tf do you loose money you already have??? Like this doesnt even make sense
“if i have to create stories”
Well. Sure TayVooDoo will take note now. Those that mess, find out.
Dw buddy she along with a good amount of Americans hate you more😭🙏
how times change
How times change
Trump has never been know to say stuff like this
He's said some bad stuff but he's never been know to cuss
So safe to say that is FAKE NEWS
at least trump sometimes said in 2016, "we're gonna get outta afghanistan and bring back jobs"🤷 , not like he really did any of those things
Im taking it as FAKE if I dont see anyone like NBC ABC or Fox report on it
So if NBC ABC or FOX Dont report on it I would say it's FAKE if they do report on it then it might actually be real
Just remember to not jump to conclusions people
what are you calling fake? the post?
Yeah him saying he hates Taylor
Im saying it's fake till some like NBC ABC or FOX reports on it
the post that you can easily see by just searching for it?
I dont use the app it was made on cause Ive never heard of that app till now
So I cant see it
you don't need any app
like, "doing your research" goes both ways before calling things fake
I'm still going to wait for it to be on main stream media like NBC ABC or FOX before I say it's real
LMAOOOO you have to be trolling at this point
I don't use Truthsocial I don't know how that stuff is so i'm sticking with what I said i'm going to wait for it to be on main stream media like NBC ABC or FOX before I say it's real
Even i don't suppurt Harris
The denial from you is insane
And that's final
how tf trump think it will help him if he will say i hate taylor swift
I wont help him much other then more swifties jumping to Kamala's side
The fact that he said that is absolutely insane bc like wtf is that gonna do for you
Yeah if it is real yeah it wont help him at all
this is so sad
And that photo was year's ago
I like people asking "is this real" because again, literally jsut look it up
It's so mean
however it's not account that trump team manage
It is real
This is just..
that is true
This account so stupid it wont help who they support
You think Trumpers care about the real context of a Taylor Swift photo? It's just fuel to the fire.
Trump in a statement about hurricane Florence in Louisiana - “This is the wettest we’ve ever seen from the standpoint of water”
Don’t matter who runs it. It’s going to do the complete opposite of getting ppl on your side
yes this is why i said it's so stupid of him like how does he think it will support trump if he is big account that support him
While I was just thinking about it there's a small chance but someone could of hacker Trump and made that post
The account isn't made to get people to your side. It's to add fuel to keep the people on your side there by eliciting an emotional response about "their" movement. Most movements doesn't run on logic except for the very top, they usually run on emotional attachment. If you deepen this attachment with people, they are more likely to try and convince people close to them to join the movement.
why are we posting that again
bye
Yeah no need to post it again we already know
You think someone "could of hacker" Trump, made that post, and then he keeps posting like nothing happened?
It rlly won’t support trump idk who’s idea it was to post that
Fair point
what post
to be honest i dont even understand his mentality when he said that
like what is saying you hate taylor swift gonna do for you? 😭 (assuming it indeed wasn't a hacker)
The one where he said he hate's Taylor
That one
the fact that the references actually make sense and dont sound forced>>
this is an insane level of copium omg
Like I said it's one be a small chance of it being a hacker but with it being up for this long yeah it not a hacker
So true
Kinda crazy though how the politics are tryna surround themselves around taylor swift
she has so much power
I thought people "didn't care" what celebrities have to say
Anyway, she didn't lose $150 million
It is
Yeah it is very crazy
Trump is crashing out
people clearly do care 😭
11 million people at least care that she endorsed kamala
I don’t really think that many people are going to be swayed to vote Kamala by a celebrity but her encouraging people to register to vote is huge
I could be wrong tho it’s kinda hard for me to get in the mind of an undecided voter as someone who’s already 100% against Trump no matter what
imo anyone with common sense would be against trump
Vote Trump !
No no, even if she gets just a few ten thousand people to vote that alone can sway an election
I have no idea why in the hell this election is close when we have literal white supremacists advising Trump but I guess that's America
oh trumpdesperate
The polls have been less close lately from what I’ve seen
Pete buttigieg came up with a good theory about Trump. He's coming up with wild things about eating cats and dogs because he doesn't want us talking about how badly he failed at being president
Like how his only major policy was tax cuts for rich
why do people think biden is a trump fan now
Cause he wore a trump hat
He jokingly put on a Trump hat with a Trump supporter
i mean I know about that but he was just trying to unite everyone on 9/11
It was actually a pretty wholesome exchange lol
Exactly
yeah i liked that
Yeah it was lol
No ty
Dw I think all of us are also confused as to why this election is close
The choice couldn’t be more obvious but to some it’s not
I actually fucking can’t read this without laughing
Especially the last sentence 😭😭
I need to find the video of it
I keep seeing it everywhere on news articles and I need to see that moment
Uhhhh
Probably a car backfired. It’s still unverified.
Vicinity can mean anything, probably not even in the building with him
Still it’s crazy to think about and yet alone that happened
I mean I'll do what the GOP does every time there's a shooting. Give some thoughts and prayers and move on
Two people exchanged gunfire outside of Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach. The shooters were targeting each other, and the gunfire was not targeting Trump, sources told NY POST.
Don't worry everyone, it was just a normal shooting
average midwest neighborhood
/hj
this sentence is insane from a normal point of view
That's America
This is normal and the GOP is perfectly okay with that
right
like sometimes im scared to go outside alone since my neighborhood often has shootings and the police just pay no mind to it
As of a year or 2 ago, the #1 cause of death in children in America is firearms
we need a president that will solve this problem not one that says "we need to have more guns because people are gonna have them either way"
Obama tried but congress killed the bill
Even Trump banned bumpstocks and the Supreme Court overturned it
so is it a problem with congress?
/gen
Yeah, there was an assault weapons ban before 2004 but congress let it expire. Mass shootings more than doubled since they let that law expire
And they refuse to re-enact it
They might want to rep-enact it then
right, its almost silly not to
Exactly
don’t fix a problem that gets you votes
yes but who's going to vote if they're killed before they can even do so
The NRA gives these people a lot of money to not do a single thing on gun control
They're a very powerful lobby
They have a huge headquarters building in Northern VA not that far from DC
They have a lot of money to throw at lawmakers.
Well
Someone tried to kill Trump
TRUMP-HARRIS LATEST: Vice President Kamala Harris set to host a rally today in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania at 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time. Harris says she wants po...
Suspect in Custody
Trump was not injured
I’m reading that’s not what happened
ah well
You shouldn’t use Fox News as your source
and the secret service actually stopped the shooter
secret service did not hesitate
Suspect had a AR-15 Reports say
What actually happened: Secret Service was clearing an area where Trump was going to be and someone had a AK-47. Florida is an open carry state
No shooting occurred
Stop using Fox News as your source. They’ve lost almost a billion dollars from lying
One person is in custody after shots were fired near former President Donald Trump and an AR-style rifle was recovered near his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, four senior law enforcement officials briefed on the incident told NBC News.
Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement that the former president was "safe following gunshots in the vicinity."
Authorities believe that the individual in custody had a weapon outside of the fence line of the golf course, law enforcement officials told NBC News. The officials said that the Secret Service spotted the person and opened fire after they believed the individual may have been taking aim.
An AR-style rifle was recovered from the scene, officials added.
The FBI said the incident appeared to be “an attempted assassination of former President Trump,” and that it has launched an investigation.
Follow live updates here
“The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. The former president is safe,” the Secret Service said in an initial statement.
Trump left the golf course in his motorcade a couple of hours after the incident and headed back to his Mar-a-Lago resort, a source familiar with the matter said. He has since arrived at Mar-a-Lago, a separate source said.
That is from NBC
do we know if they actually shot at him or if they were just random shots
ABC reports suspect was aiming at Trump
When Secret Service spotted him
And they opened fire
Suspect fled the scene but was tracked down and arrested
But if the suspect did take any shots at Trump none hit him Trump was not hurt
„just random shots“ is still so- 😭 I‘ve never heard a gun shot irl how is that so normal
Scooter braun defending Taylor was not on my 2024 bingo card
That was not on my Bingo card either
He was at the chiefs game to
Oh
So was Taylor and well the NY jets won and there’s a clip of scooter with the jets team
He’s such an interesting character
Wait was that Chiefs
I don't keep up with him after what went down with him and Taylor so I would'nt know
What is even happening guys
The secret service shot at a man who had a gun near a golf course that trump was having some time off at
The man managed to flee but a suspect has arrested in a neighbouring county
Huh?
Is this photoshopped or smth? There’s no way scooter actually defended Taylor
Look on his instagram
Another Trump voter
?
Apparently this person's political views are all over the spectrum
Scooter is a Democrat tho, so it's not out of the question he defends Harris lol
I could’ve phrased it better i just meant like someone hunting nearby or something 😭😭
Yea but I think we all find it interesting that out of anything he could’ve done to defend and stand with Harris is to use a hate truth social post by Donald specifically one targeting Taylor which is what we all were shocked about
Yeah it's weird
The Haitian immigrant dog eating stuff was funny at first but i genuinely think it might kill a lot of Trump’s support
It’s def alr doing that I think
Also posting that he hates taylor swift
It seems silly that it would have any effect but like he’s killing his own campaign rn
Idk what his goal with that was
“YEA YK WHAT FUCK KAMALA I SUPPORT TRUMP NOW YEA HE SAID HE HATES TAYLOR!!” Prob smth like that
A lot of people in Springfield are pissed over it
So are all of the immigrants
And JD Vance literally said they’re willing to make up stories if it benefits them
So apparently someone tried to off the former president again. And this time in Florida.
No that's my question because last I checked he has the rights to debut and rep still and he doesn't like Taylor.
He has the rights to all the og albums before lover, I was shocked he defended Taylor and supports Kamala
Yeah. (I know he has the rights to all before lover but I said those 2 because they are the only 2 without tvs)
😭😭
the test isn’t that confusing
the test:
Oh there would still would probably be swifties and non swifties that vote for him.
there were shots nearby idk if they were at him or not

I hate when people call him "the smallest man who ever lived" because while I understand the reference, it implies he's a man.
He's a whining, lying a**wipe and nothing more. Ywkim?
they deleted it already
HOW MUCH MORE ARE WE GOING TO TAKE!? ARE WE seriously going to sit on our butts until. Taylor and others have been hurt badly enough that she's desperate enough to ask us to do something!?
Or are we going to show that orange clown what happens when you mess with TAYLOR Swift AND THE SWIFTIES!?
yes, that was an attempt at a motivational speech. Idk how good it was, tho
It is very cruel, however and I'm sorry that Maya had to go through that
This is a joke!
What would we actually do? Bore him to death?
Also... I'm tired to the point of... Like, extra craziness? Idk if that makes sense
I say bore him, btw, not because of us, but because of him.
He's got a troubling inability to care about anything except himself
Well the most effective action we (or well, y'all Americans) can do is vote
Unless Taylor or Tree says go to WAR
WE DO NOT GO TO WAR
instead of going to war, consider pokémon going to the polls
as long as we're just chillin in cedar rapids
Lmao we’re gonna be like those swifties who were singing the smallest man who ever lived
with clown noses
DECLARE WAR
I can’t believe Donald Duck would go this fucking low
At least Scooter Fraud had the decency to defend Kamala and (surprisingly) Taylor
Boomer
This is so much better than the immediate polls after the debate
55% independents is huge
Trump is definitely not gaining many independent voters
One thing is for sure: his base is solid and motivated to vote. The only way to beat him is to get out the vote
as well as the fact the electoral college is broken
smth smth you can iwn theothically with only 23% of the vote
that shit is flawed
but ill say this,
as an european i love watching this shitshow (not that my country is any better but hey)
Oh I wish I wasn't living here for this
It shouldn't even be a question who should and shouldn't be president but here we are in a super close election
A while back a famous quote was told to me
think of the average person with average intelligence
now realise that 50% of the general population is dumber than that
Travis his instagram comments are battefield lol
Personally, definitely a tie in my opinion
it was very unproductive to say the least
Gives me less faith in the US
I'm still reluctant on voting Kamala and there's no way I'm voting for Trump again so I have to go with Kamala unfortunately
Kennedy betrayed me 😔
Top 10 political betrayals fr
I guess there is Jill Stein and Cornel West but I dont really see myself voting for them
I could do more research on them to see if any of them are good candidates
You've already redeemed your daily payout today.
You can redeem again <t:1726531200:R>.
That was def not no tie
They're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats
Totally a dead-even race
I read where she was not Black ... and then I read that she was Black, and that’s OK. Either one was OK with me. That’s up to her.
Honestly hard to say who to back here. Basically a tie.
It baffles me that people can watch that debate and say that it was a tie or even that trump won
Jill Stein is a Russian puppet
She does nothing productive when it's not an election year but just shows up every 4 years to run for president
She also has Trump lawyers on her side helping her be put on ballots
Yeah, she's not a viable candidate. The thing about third party candidates is they always get a small fraction of the vote no matter how terrible they are because people just don't know them
The major party candidates will always have dirt of them because they're the center of attention
Jill Stein in particular works with the GOP and also does absolutely nothing to actually help the environment. She campaigns on the environment but does absolutely nothing for it except try to pull votes away from the only major party that actually is trying to help
With 50 days to go, Trump’s message to voters is a muddled mess | With 50 days to go, Donald Trump is focused on Taylor Swift, pet-eating immigrants, debate conspiracy theories and Kamala Harris' experience at McDonald’s.
ngl, that mcdonalds she worked at in school is one of the wildest locations in dc. I respect the amount of patience and perseverance she must have gotten from that job
what is bro yapping bout 😭
https://x.com/immeme0/status/1835423997129072771?s=46 This is such a crazy thing to say 😭
Trying to drag someone for something they said when they were like 15 is crazy
> it will only get worse
when, exactly? is the aim gonna improve?
Aim is most likely not going to improve
the way someone said the timeline didn't even add up
Going against a conservative border bill?
Tbh, I just didn't have a good feeling on both of them but the debate likely didn't change any Trump voters over to Kamala
The true winner of the debate is how many people are convinced enough switch their vote from Trump to Kamala or vice versa
Which in that case, Kamala likely won over independents than Trump did
Trump kept yapping about random nonsense he saw on the internet that had nothing to do with the topics so Kamala definitely won over independents
My biggest concern on Kamala Harris is how she'll handle illegal immigration cause statements like these are not very good ones
This makes her look like she endorses illegal immigration
and don't get me wrong, the illegal immigrants that don't commit any crimes in the US and just want a better life, I think should have exceptions but we also need strong border security and should encourage going through the border legally
kamala 100% won the debate
imo it doesn’t, it just shows that she understands that it’s some people’s only option
I must be underestimating how many people are bounties in Mexico
If they need to leave Mexico that quickly
The problem with border hopping is that you don't know who's coming in so you are unsure if they're safe or not to be around
It's like inviting 500 random people to your house and then seeing that 100 of them are heroin addicts that are causing a nuisance in the house
I feel for the people who don't have it as good if they don't live in a good part of Mexico but it shouldn't be their only option
most undocumented immigrants are not criminals.
we just don't have a process or the manpower currently dedicated to processing all of these people in an efficient way
Which is why I also think we should put more funding to our immigration system to speed up the process a little more
Definitely. There are people who get their hearing letter months after their hearing dates
And it's not the US mail that's making that mistake
These things are not getting mailed because there are too many to process with the resources we have
So its not like I necessarily disagree with Kamala, she needs to better word what she wants so she doesn't get taken out of context by Trump (taking people out of context is common in politics anyway)
Other then concerns on immigration, everything else is okay
However if you support Palestine, you're SOL cause everyone on the ballot supports Israel
Tbh Trump and Kamala dont disagree on as much as you'd think, they also support increasing military spending
Yeah. Establishment dems suck.
Trump just thinks he has to make anyone who disagrees with him in the slightest an enemy
The main disagreements between Trump and Kamala seem to be how to implement the policies
It kind of makes sense why both sides felt the same to me
The biggest difference being social policies
Just me or
People care too much about taylor post
I personally don't think i will change my political opinion (even i don't like both of them)
Cause someone famous support one side
It’s the Republicans who are going mad over it tbh
real
and this is stupid move of them how this is help them no one need to care about post of ANY celeb
I don’t think I’ve seen someone say yes tay supports Kamala and so will I
This mom really wasn't paying attention for the last 10+ years
I know I'm just saying in general
She’s drove hundreds of thousands of ppls to the registration site
You mean the republicans?
Who are going haywire over her post?
That they care so much
It's more about reminding young women to register to vote. Not about changing minds
Getting the vote out helps
Especially trump
Real, like how he think it helps him
Anyway i need to go to sleep bye yall
Considering this election can determine the outcome of rights for women in abortion I can def see that as the main msg
Normally young people lag behind in voting. It's unfortunate, if young people voted at the same rate as boomers than Kamala would be a very clear winner. Texas would even be blue
The day I see Texas and my state Florida go blue is the day I’ll be wondering if I need prescription glasses
Texas is already capable of going blue, there's just voter suppression efforts going on there and liberals don't vote because they don't think it matters
Thats the real problem, i still vote but the sentiment of “it wont matter” is heavily said in my communities
No, [Thing X] or [Post Y] will not make people see it and instantly vote for someone else. It’s part of a bigger picture. People vote based on emotions they feel, and if you manage to make your side look appealing, then they will vote for you. Make it look welcoming, fun, understanding. It’s not one single post, but it’s the combination of the post, the reactions to it, the discussion about it, maybe people discovering Taylor for the first time, and so on.
We start getting into identity here when we talk about people's concept of reality and what their belief systems are
If we think of our belief system as a house, changing a single opinion is like redoing a room, or getting some new furniture. Disassembling a whole belief system is like taking down a wall in the house.
It takes a lot of work
Oh, absolutely. I think I’m just getting a little annoyed at seeing cynical “seeing [thing] surely made people switch their vote” every time a speech is held, a post is made or an action is taken.
People need to just get over this sentiment and vote even if it's 90-10 in the polls
American apathy is the end of us istg
Im not disagreeing
ykw i find funny
people who endorsed kamala: taylor swift, beyonce, olivia rodrigo , ariana grande, cardi b (?), megan thee stallion, charli xcx
people who endorsed trump: bryce hall ??? and kanye west (?), jake paul (?)
Olivia and Ari did endorse her
dont forget megan thee stallion performed at a kamala rally
the only viral trump endorsement ive seen is fucking bryce hall then
so she's on the list
Yes that to
Idk many that endorsed him tbh
yk who isnt endorsing him.. mike pence his ex-vice president 😭
Hulk Hogan endorsed Trump
i mean of course
trump literally wanted him dead after jan 6th
true, but i just find it comical
I know my sense wont matter bc im from europe but I agree with you! after learning everything abt what happend!
Trump picked a real tool to replace him
“They taking the geese now” -trump
This mf
Did you hear about all the threats in Springfield now
I can’t tell if he’s running for president or running for top 3 comedians
💀
Yea the way he went about it to….
Absolutely horrendous
Omg whats happening?
He’s lowkey a a buffoon, a charlartain
Being a top comedian worked in 2016 soooo
I don't understand why schools
Me neither
Iggg
I think it mentally has the most effect on people
What?? Why schools?? Why even threats to begin with?
Either it’s immigrants or people framing immigrants or completely unrelated
But I feel like trump is gonna blame immigrants
Did anyone see what musk said
I mean he did on the debate
God…. What did this guy say now
He said something like “why is nobody trying to assassinate Kamala/Biden 🤔 “
This mf is sick bro
One of my online friends recently had to pick her kid up from school early bc she was told someone called in threats
That’s scary
I understand some support him cause taxes, but like … find someone else who believes in those taxes this guy is crazy
imagine assassinating biden
dude wants to go home anyways, and you’d just get an early president harris
right 😭
there has got to be something up in his head fr like there is no logical reason for him to be saying what he's been saying recently
first it was the weird taylor comment... now this.. genuinely what's next??
I think the same way too, just cause someone I support votes a certain way doesn't mean I want to vote that person as well
celebrity endorsements don't mean anything to me because I'm my own person with my own opinions
I could care less that Hulk Hogan supports Trump despite me loving WWE growing up
It's important to utilize democracy to the fullest by being your own person and voting for who you feel is better!
If I remember correctly, there's not even enough data to make the claim that undocumented immigrants do more or less crime because usually that shit isn't listed down during data collection. The only place that does record it I think is Texas and they actually report that undocumented immigrants are significantly less likely to commit felonies or something.
Didn't kid rock endorse trump idk
Because jd Vance admitted he made up the immigrants eating pets thing? What in the mental gymnastics
His whole existence but song and video for we the people is loudly pro trump
You can just hear it lmao
lmao
yeah! Because they don’t want to get deported!
Yeah, it's actually kinda stupid when you think about it.
You're illegally migrating to a country that is quite hard on crime in general
And you're there to...do crime?
WAIT TRUMP IS 78???
Yeah he old af
why are they letting people that old run for president
like how are they gonna understand today’s problems fully
because the people that allow this are also this old
very few people realize they might not be suited for their job, and ironically this means the ones that stay are the ones that shouldn't
That was trumps whole campaign when biden was in it
https://www.instagram.com/p/DABOeppiEIs/?igsh=MTN5cWl0NnM2Zzl5Yw==
Trump has came up against the most talented and fabulous voting block now. Organisation and patience are two of our superpowers.
billie endorsed kamala
Just about to post that. Blue wave coming? 💙💙💙
I question it too, Trump and Biden are old news
Literally and metaphorically
theres no limits on age for anything really. other then you have to be (35?) to run for it theres no cap
i don’t get why u have to be 35 to run too,
you can even have a felony and run 🤪
it should just be 18 and then like under 65 or whatever
prob something to do with maturity and life experience
That no surprise tbh, this is around the time people start bringing out their endorsements
I believe Brittany Mahomes endorses Trump
well your brain isnt even fully developed when you 18 so thats not an amazing idea, also no 18 year old is capable to run a country
Patrick Mahomes didn't endorse a candidate which is understandable
lack of life skills, maturity, fully developed brain, ect
Mahomes is just trying to play Football, he doesn't wanna get political
that doesn’t necessarily mean that 18 year olds will get voted in though, as most people will want a politics degree first
Tbh, even age 30 to run for president isn't all that bad
Age 35 always felt a little too old to start but it wasn't that deep to me
Unless you're Trump then you don't need one
18? Hell no
Trump before his time in politics was a reality TV star and businessman with iconic catchphrases like "you're fired!"
A good age would be between 25-30 to be able to run
i mean it’s 18 in the uk and i don’t think we’ve ever had an 18 year old prime minister
Trump was hilarious back then but politically he is just a mess
This is America, I don’t think we would take the chances tbh 😭💀
Especially with this new generation….
18 year olds listen to Ohio rizz shit
but yeah an 18 year old would be unlikely to be voted in, because they will quite literally have no experience, but to me an almost 80 year old being president is more crazy than like a 20 year old
18 year old politicians are gonna sign the "Ohio Rizz Sigma Act" or something stupid like that
i feel like ur seriously underestimating 18 year olds 😭
Well, I kind of am, when I was 18 I still felt like an immature teen
But also felt like an adult
If we were to lower the age requirements, age 30 should be the minimum instead of age 35
i kinda disagree with you there but thats ok
Thats understandable, to me I dont really care that much if we had gen Z running for presidential office
But with the complexity of our politics, I somewhat understand why you should be age 35
Our youngest member of parliament right now is like 22
I think that the top age to be president should be 70. As that’s when the brain is still sharp, yet the body may break down more. The 35 year old thing is good. I’d like to see term limits to how long you can be in public office to 25 years. So if you are a 30 year old senator say, you must retire from public office at 55. This would also mean SCOTUS too. Take the SCOUTS pick away from the President and put them to elections.
i have to tell you i do NOT want an 18 year old running the country lol.
then you wouldn’t vote for them?
Mhari Black, the former SNP Member of Parliament for Paisley was 19 when she was elected I think. That’s the neighbouring seat to my Glasgow one.
especially in a parliament it’s so important to have people who are a range of different ages
the reason an 18 year old cannot be president is that you should SHOULD in theory require previous experience just like any other job
obviously trump exploited that for his campaign in 2016 and won on a non establishment platform but that doesn't make it functional
at 18 you are legally an adult but you are not emotionally and developmentally ready to lead a country i'd say
yeah at 18 you’d be unlikely to be voted in, but anyone serious enough about it should be able to run i guess
"Adolescents likely possess the necessary intellectual skills to make informed choices but may lack the social and emotional maturity to control impulses, resist peer pressure and fully appreciate the riskiness of dangerous decisions."
I’m so tired of him trying to turn Americans against each other based on their politics. They try to divide us so they can control us and profit off of us… but we are on to their game. Enough is enough.
The boys ahh
I think 35 is fine ngl
Imagine an 18 yo president 💀
35 is fine. Get experience first
Though probably 40 or even 50 would be fine with me too
Would like to see a president serve 2 terms and serve in congress
fuck yeahhhh eat the rich
EAT THE RICHHHH
Can definitely agree with that, our current Iowa senator Chuck Grassley is 90 and has been Iowa senator since 1981
my mom was still in high school when he was senator
I lowkey do like Chuck Grassley outside of politics cause he does try to keep himself healthy as much as possible cognitively and physically
Though knowing how easy it was to keep his spot in the senate seat makes me feel like there's definitely something suspicious about that
definitely can agree to term limits for every part of the US government
I don't think people should be president until they have at least a fully developed brain
Which is around 25
(Can we maybe reduce the slow mode to 5 seconds, things are calmer now lol)
The requirement is currently 35 so people have time to build experience in government and diplomacy
Aura
They're such a good team omg
The more I learn about Tim Walz the more I need him in the white house
Wait what happened earlier?
Yeah I do like Tim Walz in terms of agreeing with his policies with a whopping 75% compared to Kamala's 66% and JD Vance's 62%
the isidewith website has been so helpful for me to figure out more on who I should vote
I think just following the debate & possible assassination attempt
Yeah I'll admit it's crazy how many psychotic people there are in this country
I'll never take politics that deeply to heart to want to try hurting anyone
I think when the debate happened this chat exploded
Including a few swifties who support Trump
Tim is very strong with bipartisanship
He's got realistic ideas while also being so well spoken
Yeah, wild that we've had 2 assassination attempts in the space of a month?????
It be like that sometimes, presidential debates can get wild with the people back home watching it from their couch
I see why I support him the most then
Tim is great because he has so much identity overlap with traditional conservatives
But he supports policies that actually help those people
Also VP debate on 10/1
Lowkey down to see that
Curious as to how well both will do
Sadly the VP debate in 2020, nobody gave a shit about cause it was boring
but 2024, the VP debate should be more interesting
like a president snow like figure
Vance is gonna blow it
So in the context of president snow to JD Vance, there's a lot of simps that simp over him
but president snow will still become evil regardless of the simps on tiktok
Walz will be fine and I think get more supporters
Yeah I think Walz will be fine too, I've heard both of them speak and honestly Walz seems better
"seems"
walz is comfortable adressing a crowd because he was a teacher
I mean, in politics we just have to trust they'll do good
many people thought Reagan was good but now many hate the guy
but many also love him as well
vance was a corporate lawyer, he's good at talking, but he's also good at doublespeak
for someone who won almost every state in the 1984 election, you'd think he'd be great but Reagan was not all that. He did stop the cold war I'll give Reagan that
Vance is gonna do best trump impression
we've got to be alert for those conservative dog whistles
Politics is difficult for someone like me who is a raging independent
I voted for Trump in 2020 but I really hate him now but my friend wishes I still backed Trump and I just don't. I also am questioning Kamala Harris's ability to do better than Joe Biden did
I was gonna go for Kennedy this election but then he wanted me to back Trump which is also a hard no
but because of how much I really did agree with RFK Jr on almost every policy I've seen of his, I'm curious about myself if Trump may not be as bad as I thought
but then I saw the debate and then I realized that Trump is still a lunatic which really questions me why former democrats I do like are backing Trump
All in all, whomever I vote for, it's gonna be very reluctant. I have absolutely 0 confidence in my vote 😭
It's worth noting the entire Kennedy family denounced him for the endorsement
He's kinda an anomaly in the family
To be fair, Tim Walz's family also doesnt support him or Kamala
I take the family endorsements with a grain of salt
That's kinda false, you're talking about like his 3rd cousins who don't really know him but showed up for a big get together
They share a last name only
I agree w you but im also pretty sure the Walz family was like super distant 😭
Family is family but then again, I hardly talk to my 3rd cousins 💀
The way his kids feel about him should say a lot. Tim really feels like a good man.
Yeah, that story is a nothing burger imo
I could go for a burger tbh
me always
Ugh don't make me hungry
but yeah in general family endorsements aren't 100% credible to me since I mostly focus on what policies they support and just trust they will pull through
Kennedy I thought he was a nice middle ground from the two parties that I think many people would agree with him on, it's too bad he decided to share his wack ass stories about collecting roadkill 😭
Yeah, the whale head one that his daughter talked about made me nauseous
Yeah it's those stories he should've kept private
some of those stories he told were definitely TMI
He's.... interesting
interesting in a strange way
I really don't know what his whole deal is sometimes
I knew Kennedy had a bad history with drugs but the roadkill stuff I didn't think he would've been into because of the drugs
Very, he was kinda directly responsible for a measles outbreak in Samoa
Yeah the anti vax stuff he spewed was definitely not something I really agreed with
I don't think he was for banning all vaccines in the US but he wanted more information on the vaccines and more freedom of choice on whether or not to take the vaccines or not
which I totally get but during covid-19, I wanted vaccine mandates cause I was so pissed off about always wearing masks 😭
with major pandemics like that, I start getting very pro-vaccine and authoritarian with that shit
abolishing the DOE is a wild take
i feel like freedom of choice on vaccines is reasonable to an extent but during a pandemic i think it should be mandatory
nerfing the postal service? also fucking crazy
its not like a pandemic is happening every other week or anything anyways
Thankfully
With Kennedy, I could agree with him on most things but the things I didn't agree with him on were a bit too much for me
i.e. anti-vax stuff
other then that, he was definitely an old-school democrat whom clearly hates the modern DNC
Apparently some people had to be held at gun point to get the smallpox vaccines 💀 I mean it eliminated the virus and saved millions of lives
We're living in the most medically advanced time in human history and people only become more skeptical
Yeah there's a lot of skepticism just mainly due to the government not always being the most trustworthy
and how vaccines may have impacted people negatively in their families or personal lives or just what they see on the news
That's the point I understand the most. When it comes to science the only sources you should really trust are peer reviewed. And even then it takes experts to interpret the data properly
True
I think I can trust scientists that have had many years on the subject
but I can see the skepticism if you have really bad trust issues with people or the government
This is why I'm so upset about the chevron ruling
The worst part is that the data is often available, it’s just that humanity is still trying to figure out how to get information from data. Arbitrary example: Are crime statistics the way they are because some people commit more crimes, are they because some people aren’t arrested for the same crimes, is it because some areas have more police presence and the crimes are detected faster, etc.
kamala will be a step in the right direction, trump won’t
Well, at this point politics feels like a convincing game of "trust me bro"
So I guess I'll put more trust in Kamala
trump has already been “trusted” i guess, so someone who understands the needs of working families would surely be better
Technically, Kamala has been trusted but it was mostly Biden
I assume Kamala has some influence however on Biden's decision making
It was a total catastrophe under Biden compared to Trump tbh but I also want someone who isn't a sore loser so I'm gonna go Kamala
Shit hit the fan for Trump when making a terrible decision on how to handle Covid which is why I believe he lost in 2020
It's gonna be a reluctant vote on Kamala, I better not regret voting her 😭
we're living in the most technologically advanced time in human history and there are still stupid people who lack common sense, so i'm not surprised
she’ll be much better than trump would be
Well Andrew Yang endorsed Kamala so guess that confirms my vote for Kamala
It's always the Democrats and Republicans that leave their party I respect the most
They realize how divisive having the two party system can be so they create another party that has Democrats and Republicans in it to solve the bigger problems instead of being so fixated on their differences to the point where they don't get anything done cause they're too busy blocking each other's bills
I just wish that at the last few months before the election, people like Andrew Yang, RFK Jr, Tulsi Gabbard, etc. dont have to pick sides on the two main candidates cause then things start feeling divided
But unfortunately they have no choice so they choose the lesser of two evils
i think the main difference between kamala and trump is that kamala actually wants to respect people’s rights whereas trump just want’s it easy for the rich people

She ends it with a dogwhistle against communism so
Wait really? I love Yang
the vice president does so little beyond tie breaking vote in the senate i feel we must express this
this led me to find out rfk jr is an AIDS denier
Does every celebrity need to endorse somebody?
They are ACTUALLY trying to make posting memes illegal. Vote them out.
It’s so absurd that he can just lie like this with no repercussions
He's not
People are DUMB
ok good 😭 i keep seeing things saying he is
Who is saying that?
Elon is garbage
can i block elon on twitter or will he ban me
ok maybe i should look at bbc news more
i’m a clown in more ways than one
I think he disabled the ability to block him lmao
thats actually insane
its not entirely wrong that her policies have hints of communist principles in it
Can you name a few?...
technically her stance on letting people end up in the same place and gain the same opportunities, it's quite communistic
theres nothing wrong with equal opportunity, but to say that people should end up in the same place in the name of equity is mehh
oooooof
What do you even mean by that
Like, give me an actual policy position she has. What you just said sounds so vague and subjective
this is insane
Ew I just got a trump ad on YouTube. It was trump himself.🤢🤮
Nah, they don't have to nor do I encourage it as much as others do. Politics should mostly be a private matter especially if people get so angry over it
There have been stories roaming around about how freedom of speech is becoming more limited in the UK
Welcome to the internet, also 1st amendment lets people say whatever they want for the most part
I could give a crap less about Elon Musk tbh
I think it became illegal to spread misinformation or smth but don’t quote me on that
Bro is rich for making electric cars and fun space rockets
That would be a massive infringement on the 1st amendment but then again it has always been a sue-able thing to spread misinformation on someone with the intent to destroy their reputation
Kyle Rittenhouse tried that with mainstream media because of the false things they said about him before the official trial ended in not guilty
That was the biggest "I told you so" moment of my political experience cause I knew he'd be innocent (he's not a hero though, thats a stretch)
Since that day for Kyle though, he dismantled the AR-15 showing regret about what happened that day
UK doesn’t have the first amendment
Ah, that's likely the part where freedom of speech gets infringed on
If their freedom of speech is limited, that's not a good sign
They think laws against protesting and harassing to women going into abortion clinics is “limiting their freedom of speech”
When in reality it’s not, they can still protest against it just not when vulnerable women are there
It isn’t 😭
Oh yeah I have heard stories about that and yeah thats really messed up and lowkey a waste of time to protest every single day outside of Planned Parenthood
As we speak they're probably still protesting about it outside of a planned parenthood building
Hopefully it's not
We have freedom of speech unless it harms someone
its couldn't saying could means you COULD give a crap less so you give some kind of a crap
Yep, I care a tiny bit
But not enough to want to eat the rich
Being rich is a grind in itself, doesn't mean the person is a good person or a bad person though
In terms of character, Elon is not the best but I dont care enough to bash him through Twitter replies
Unless he's in politics then I'll start caring more
elon said he would impregnate taylor swift so she would vote for trump
Wait deadass? Not even in a satire way?
even as a joke its like brother read the room
Oh he was joking, yeah as someone as influential as Elon, definitely shouldn't be making jokes like that
its a gross joke and weird and threatening so yea
Definitely not the first time someone has said something disturbing to Taylor Swift but also someone who has a massive following like Elon shouldn't be saying stuff like that
iirc he also wants to be in trumps cabinet
I always thought Elon was professional but nowadays he has really messed up his professionalism to just troll the platform he bought 😭
Bro just stopped caring about being professional
Definitely lost the little respect I had for him a few years ago
he comes from a family who made their money with slavery and apartheid
https://www.insidehook.com/culture/errol-musk-elon-father-myths
no one should be making jokes like that
> everyone should have the same chances, but this is actually part of communist ideas
she's so close to getting it
There was a brief scare earlier in the day, as Nassau County police said a person who may have been training a bomb detection dog near the Coliseum falsely reported explosives being found. That person was detained by police. it says
True, but unfortunately there's some messed up people on the internet that try to get a rise out of people
Damn, ill have to give that a read sometime
Ive hear rumors about a ban on memes
But i dont live there so dont take me at my word
Yeah I was so confused. Trump literally praised Elon for union busting
ON A LIVE STREAM. VERY CLEARLY PRAISED FIRING THOSE WHO TRY TO STRIKE
Seems to be misinformation. They didn't find anything
Yeah it was a false report someone thought they saw something but it was nothing
There's so many false things nowadays that idk what to believe. That goes for both sides. Like... misinformation is a real issue
There's fake stories going around by Russian-linked trolls that Kamala was in a hit and run. The couch thing with JD Vance isn't true either
That is very true but it's going to be almost impossible to fully stop misinformation sadly
Yeah, I'm hopeful that they don't work in reality. They sort of worked in 2016 but that's when it first started happening and people were less aware. Like no, Hillary never human trafficked children at a pizza place 🤦♂️
China tried misinformation campaigns in Taiwan to prevent a pro-independence President from winning. It didn't work, he won anyway
Insurance companies used to be able to deny people coverage for having a preexisting condition. Millions of people with diseases like ALS, Parkinson's, muscular dystrophy, and cancer suffered immensely without healthcare.
Obama stopped that. Obama and the Democratic Party gave people with preexisting conditions healthcare. Republican want to take it away
Stole that comment from reddit lol
It's wild that Republicans restarting this convo lol
We're all in high risk pool and will pay premiums out the butt
It's hard to believe many things these days
that's what makes politics even tougher to deal with cause there's so much misinformation to deal with that at this point I may only base my vote on if I agree with them enough or not in terms of policies
and then hope they go through with their word
I'm gonna definitely avoid CNN and Fox News cause those are blatantly biased to the core
CNN is at least biased towards the good side
US media is a joke anyways, but I’d much rather have my news show rooting for the person who is not Donald Trump
Trump on the debate: They didn’t correct her once and they corrected me, everything I said practically.. and the audience went absolutely crazy
there was no audience for the debate
you have to do well, you can’t do badly
inspiring insight, mister trump
Not as much in recent years
They give Trump a pass on wayyyyyy too many things nowadays
ah well, I don’t watch much US news shows
Trump is a very unique politician
if you shut him down, it would be against free speech in that case
lol no
So at this point you just have to let him talk and get him to slip up
nowadays it is much easier for Trump to fall for bait than I thought honestly
This is why Trump made Truth Social cause this is true
he needs his community to hype him up so he copied and pasted the Twitter UI and just named it Truth Social
instead of retweets, it's "re-truths"
it's a cringe social media app just for his community to suck up to him so much
I visited it once to find the Taylor post he made and it’s so surreal it’s almost funny
I've visited Truth Social many times and it's just mostly him complaining about someone in caps lock like he's angry
Trump's gotta be more chill, this is how he's not winning any independents over
especially me who used to back him
but then again, that was because Sleepy Joe was too eepy to talk to Trump
but I digress, I'm voting democrat this time
to be fair even with the sleepiest person I’d rather have the country in stasis for four years than have cheeto doing his thing
Troth Sential is boomer caps lock media
if the USA would suddenly be attacked then the President wouldn’t even do much except nod when people ask him permission
This is where Trump will start attacking Kamala because she'd likely have more influence on Biden's decisions due to Biden's cognitive struggles
the VP role does more influencing and gives advice to the president
and then splits the vote in the senate
and probably a lot of paperwork
ATM from what I know as someone from England, if you post racism and incited violence during the riots a few weeks ago you got prison time.
Can the man go one day without going on Truth Social and typing all caps
Deffo started to feel a bit like the Soviet Union during that time with that little bit
inciting violence makes sense to get prison time for tbh
Deffo
assault is illegal after all
putting people in prison for racism on the internet is a different story cause there's a few factors that come down to that
There was more to it with what you could and couldn’t say I think, but it does seem a bit like a lack of free speech atm
if I had a nickel for every time someone in a Discord channel compared US free speech to European free speech this night, I’d have two nickels
I’m deffo not agreeing with racism either btw if it seemed like I was
Absolute free speech is not a good thing
- What constitutes racism by the government? 2. Still is against freedom of speech. I don't like the hate speech they spew but prison time not a good idea unless they commit a crime based off of their skin color then sure
Is this what is free speech it rn?
in the US, yep pretty much
The government should be able to arrest people wearing swastikas without them hiding behind “free speech”
If you send death threats, that's a different story actually where investigations will come into play to see the credibility of those threats if they're worth arresting them for
if you say things that are horrible crimes with enough evidence to back up that you were gonna commit that crime, that is a criminal offense
so the US doesn't necessarily have 100% freedom of speech, they have some safety precautions however when it comes to speaking death threats and other things like that
As a German, it’s surreal to me to see people marching with literal Nazi flags and people are just like “oh no, anyways”
I won’t lie, I did start to feel like you couldn’t say anything against kier starmer otherwise you’d be wrong, or couldn’t say anything about not agreeing with illegal immigration
here you’d be instantly arrested for a Roman salute
Yeah that’s not right. Didn’t they unban the swastika a few years ago? That kind of hate speech when it comes to that I’m like yeah, not sure you should be on the streets
I could imagine in Germany that they take shit like that more seriously due to what happened 80+ years ago but here in the US, they just shrug it off unless it's death threat related or other horrible crime related
Oh, I meant seeing that in the US, the swastika along with several other symbols remains in its rightful banned place here
For example, they added the Russian “Z” symbol to that list a while back.
Yeah we have some hateful people in the US that wear swastika's and I even saw a video of someone with a Nazi flag hanging outside their window in the US but nothing legally was done about it
Pretty sure the Finnish army’s thing is still the swastika too lmao. Can’t remember the reason to it
But with the swastika, I’d be more than happy to only let it remain in history on historical recreation, and if it remained on ww2 aircraft type of things for that purpose rather than modern day use for things unless completely fictional like a book
That's cause there aren't really any laws against promoting your own freedom of speech. It's very relaxed here compared to most of the world cause unless there's enough of a reason to arrest you off of the suspicions that you will commit a horrendous crime, you can say whatever
Historical museums would be a proper place to put that at along with the confederate flag to help people learn more about how dark the world history and US history can be
Banned symbols are allowed if they are used for educational purposes, e.g. in schools, museums, or textbooks
As long as it's being used for educational purposes, I don't mind it cause it's important to people to learn about the history of these things
Absolutely agreed.
so that we take the bad things from history and never return to them
while the good things that happened in history, we uplift and continue to strive to do good things
Forgetting history is one of the greatest mistakes. I was visiting the “Topography of Terror” with a tourist friend recently, which is a free exhibition detailing the methods the Nazis used to establish themselves and then assert their power, and I overheard this US woman saying “wow, seeing this here really makes you realize how much of those methods are being used again today”
The methods to convince people may feel similar to how it was in 1930s Germany but it's also the things that Nazi Germany did support that was really horrifying and extremely messed up
I'm not sure if they were referring to the US like Nazi Germany but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as Nazi Germany
I do know that there's definitely a lot of brainwashing in the US however; it's not by force to listen to it like it was back in 1930s Germany
back then they forced even children to think like that
There's some scary correlations with Nazi Germany and current US politics
I think in terms of brainwashing tactics, I could see it
the difference being in the US, you don't have to listen to that stuff if you refuse to, however if you are around many people who believe a certain ideologies, you're likely to begin picking those up if you aren't sure on politics
i dont even know what y'all discussing but ill say this: history ALWAYS repeats its self
like no matter what its almost comical
True, we can only stop the bad parts of history from repeating the best we can
we can only try. which is why its so crucial for kids to be taught history
Ngl, my Nan was a Romany gypsy and I didn’t even consider how much they were also thrown into camps along with Jewish people . She and her mum were English so nothing happened to them personally, but family there might be in mainland Europe would’ve deffo
I learned about the Nazi regime in school, it’s a full semester in history class. We took excursions to concentration camps and we analyzed propaganda and suppression techniques. We played out speeches, we listened to their impact. It’s what every German has to complete.
And even though I might not be a history expert, I can confidently say that I see those techniques of establishing power through propaganda and dehumanization being applied today.
There’s a novel I can recommend, we read it in German class but it’s originally in English. It’s called The Wave, and it’s about a teacher doing an experiment with the class to try and create a similar social movement within the class. The novel is based on a real experiment called “The Third Wave” from the 1960s, and it’s both fascinating and eye-opening to read.
Nazis also got America to the moon
Although from what I understand Von Braun never believed in the ideology, he just went along with the whole thing just to survive and get his dream of going to space off the ground. No pun intended. Hence making the V2 etc
Think the same was with Rommel? He even tried to kill hitler didn’t he?
her entire position on ending up at the same place?? equity??? that's straight up coming from communist principles, in the sense that everyone's on the same level, granted the same opportunities (same opportunities isnt wrong) but the view essentially lets the govt dictate where ppl end up--at the same place
You're reading too much into that one line; she's just doing the popular thing which is considering increases taxes on primarily the rich and/or high-earners and doing so in the name of equality by equity.
but considering she's running, shouldnt people be really attentive to the meaning behind what she says, regardless of whether or not that campaign tactic is popular? also not sure if ur talking abt her tax on unrealized gains, but that policy is also quite problematic
There's a hyperfixation on the word "communism" at play here instead of actually seeing the policies that are being introduced
Like, I don't give a shit about whether or not it's communism
I give a shit as to whether I believe such policies are better for society as a whole
people won't think "communism" when they see a policy that doesnt actually have communist principles in it
See what I mean about hyperfixation?
do u think the unrealized gains tax is good for society?
I don't care whether something is of a communistic principle
communistic principles in a democratic country wouldnt do so well in practice
Communism is a bogeyman that Republicans have been using for the better part of three decades in order to reduce public services and introduce tax-cuts on businesses and the highest income bracket
God forbid the state actually provides services to its people
problem is the state is providing services not only to its ppl, but to those that arent even citizens
and u still havent answered this
Billionaires are bigger leeches than any immigrant, legal or otherwise
Unrealized gains, i'll still have to look into but again it probably only will affect the ultrarich.
So yeah, I'm for it.
you really would have to look into it, it's not only gonna affect the ultra rich. billionaires (bc admittedly, they are greedy, but also sane people) will try to find loopholes from this policy, they're going to do huge sell offs of their unrealized assets within a year to avoid the annual tax, which eventually tanks stock markets
Oh, so we have to pander to the rich?
if stocks tank, middle-income investors also pull out, and it's just a waterfall effect from there
it's not pandering to the rich, it's realizing that the policy isn't just going to eat the rich but eventually ruin the stock market, which not only affects them, but companies and middle-income individuals too
u do realize that these billionaires are building up their assets for years, meaning they have a ton of value on these stock assets, and so selling them off to avoid the annual 25% tax (minimum btw) is going to tank stocks so badly
I know a lot of the backbone of the economy is on fake people propping up prices being hoarded by the 0.1%
And perhaps a reactionary billionaire would do a selloff
But barring the immediate effects
It would become more equitable afterwards since if everyone, as you say, no longer shall hoard so much, by definition there will just be more shareholders/assetholders per capita
it's essentially taxing money that they don't have (in liquid form) which crashes the stock market value, meaning everyone with money in the market loses the value in their stock assets
Then again I wouldn't know
how is that beneficial? the economy would literally be in shambles, and people will begin to depend on government spending to help them, which just worsens inflation
There has to be something that tempers or outright reverses the growth and accumulation of wealth occurring at the top
And skepticism of someone's policies are good in a vacuum
but does that something have to come at the cost of those who suffer even more?
I also think that such a brand new tax would definitely not make it through and is just a pie-in-the-sky-something-to-talk-about-policy to get people talking
It depends how long term you want to look at it
If the economy has to momentarily tank for wealth inequality to be eliminated, is that better or worse than let it go at its current pace before another independent economic collapse?
well thats true considering majority of congress is republican, but thats the problem, politicians are making empty promises that seem beneficial to gain votes but are actually harmful, and ppl dont realize that and just blindlessly vote. they only focus on the effects that can be seen, but not the unseen effects of a policy, and politicians are using that to their advantage as if they'll actually give the country something good
it's not momentarily tanking wealth. it's going to be detrimental to the nation and to the entire world. the stock market loses investors bc of skepticism, and if anyone would dare to try, they'd begin investing at a terrible time in the economy, which is unlikely bc everyone will end up having little to no confidence when the stock market tanks
Kamala's Unrealized Gains Tax is probably not why people are going for her, anyway. It'd be nice if the main focus of this campaign was on economic policy like it was in 2012 but the main focus really going to be "Not Trump." This is one of those things where civil liberties, freedoms, and non-economic factors are the pressure points in the election
Assuming people's pressure point is the economy, welll...people have seen a Trump Presidency as well as a Trump Economy and simply put, people didn't like that. The decision making before and during the pandemic basically left a sour taste in everyone. Since he's running again, there's no reason for him to believe it'll turn around. Hence, you vote the alternative.
then assuming that economic policy is not a popular reason to vote, and people ignore it, and then assuming kamala puts that policy into place if congress agrees, what will happen then?
Again, that's a big if. This is also operating under the assumption that Trump doesn't do/prevent something worse.
Options are weighed and people have 4 years of experience under Trump while 0 under Harris. Effectively, voters will pick the new one due to the the dissatisfaction sown by the old.
i agree trump hadn't handled the pandemic that well, but if the pressure point really is the economy, shouldn't citizens be focusing on possible economic policies that kamala intends to bring? majority of what i see is just free healthcare for illegal immigrants, then grocery gouging
but at the cost of what? a lot of people voting for kamala might have issues of civil liberties fixed under her, but when the economy is still crap, that's when ppl start to focus on the bigger issues, but by then it's not guaranteed that kamala will actually make GOOD economic policies when people want her to, when majority of her campaign is focused on civil rights
The fact of the matter is that Trump is bad on all fronts. That's the problem.
Yeah sure, let's say Kamala's economic policies are bad.
The only other option is Trump which will be worse.
Maybe "will" might not be the best word here
But again, people have 4 years of experience on a Trump economy and it's a bad one through almost every fault of his own.
but at least he plans on reducing taxes on citizens' wages, something that doesn't seem to be on the road during kamala's presidency
Reducing taxes is a one-track-minded approach. Why not increase wages, especially the outdated federal minimum wage? I know it's cliche to bring it up but remember that the "happy" Nordic countries have large income taxes and the happiness and health is attributed to better public services.
