In honor of the Lover era, I will make a thread in #taylor-discussion. I'd love to hear your thoughts about Lover the album and the era. If you were a Swiftie during the Lover rollout, what were your thoughts during that time? What are your favorite songs from Lover now, and have they changed since you first listened to the album? What songs or lyrics have made the most impact on you? What would you wish Lover Fest would have been like, if it had actually happened? 😭

Lover -- my least favorite album of them all. Though I don't really like the album in general, I still vibe it in a way. My favorite song is probably Miss Americana, Daylight and Cornelia Street, especially the "All of you all of me intertwined" part in Daylight. It was also exciting to see her announcing to rerecord all 6 albums too. I think the album is growing on me recently so maybe I'll change my thoughts on that one. Overall I love the album in a way and I'm also looking forward for Lover listening party too! i don't know what to write now ok bye

At first i didn’t really like the album that much and found hits (even cruel summer) underwhelming but i gave it another try in january 2020 and i definitely get the hype. my favs are cruel summer, dbatc, afterglow, daylight, ithk, the archer, and false god. lover fest would’ve been iconic as fuck but i feel like we wouldn’t have gotten eras tour without it and i’d rather have the eras tour. i taylor would be in a very different point in her career right now if she toured lover and stuck to the album every 2-3 years schedule.

i love lover so much honestly it has some AMAZING SONGS and obviously some of the messages there r amazing. like you need to calm down and lover. lover is a wholesome album ||about Joe :(( sigh|| and it's so sweet. my favorite song personally is false god & miss americana, and loverfest would've been such a fun thing. i think the lyrics/song that had the most impact on me is probably the Archer "do you see right through me?" is honestly so heartbreaking esp because of the beat its like it's never going to beat drop. the best of the song is always anxious-like which honestly makes it as such a great song. soon you'll get better is also such a sad song. :(( for me, lover is a great album 🫶 the track list is great and there are many songs that r so great honestly. i rate lover a 10/10

Honestly I have a very intimate relationship with Lover, especially because I listened to it on repeat for a long time in one of the worst moments in my entire life, pretty much on repeat until Folklore dropped. Lover for me is a sister album to Reputation in a way, because it presents us with similar Synthpop and Electropop bangers, but this time they're more related to a different persona in Taylor's life, and mostly because she's showing here a bit of hope towards the future, but at the same time with all the traumatic and bittersweet tones in her writing that clearly shows how she's eager to love and to be loved, but at the same time how much she fears this situation of loving someone so much that it could change her forever and even shape the world as she know it. In the end, I don't think it's simply a bubblegum sugar pop album, since it's still very personal and this time she's not even dissing someone specifically or singing about an ex (this sentence didn't age so well maybe) but actually singing about her own demons, sharing them with everyone in a very lyrical and surprisingly catchy way, and so well that you couldn't even notice on a surface level. It's an album with depth and probably one of the best Synthpop and Electropop albums of all time. Lover is genuine, it's an authentic cry out from Taylor, usually disguised as a simple bop, not to mention it's danceable, and revisiting after everything it gets even better and more meaningful. Once again we see another Taylor here, much more sensitive and vulnerable, but at the same time truly authentic.

When Lover first released my inner Swiftie woke up again after it died down after Reputation. I really liked the Era and the album. The colors, the vibe, the everything I just loved. Sure Lover isn't super romantic but it does have a few romance songs. I really loved (and still love) how it's more about loving yourself and others. Accepting who you are and who others are. My favorite song when Lover first released was The Man and the song I related to the most was The Archer. Now that I'm older my favorite song from Lover HAS to be Daylight and the sing I relate to the most is Soon You'll Get Better. Daylight is just that song that makes me remember the happy memories for all those I've loved and lose. Soon You'll Get Better hits close to me because both my mom and grandma has had cancer. Luckily my mom survived but my grandma didn't. Those two songs will always be special to me. Overall, Lover will have a special place on my heart alongside Red and Midnights.

Long answers omg. Lover.. what is lover? Lover is an album, and it is something! It's not the worst... But I love false god! And dbatc and cruel summer. It has some sus lyrics and catchy instrumentals like " IM NEW YORK CITY "🤨🤨🤨🤨
My fav lyric is " I ask the traffic lights if it'll be alright they say I don't know" as for the tour ||maathbp i cannot imagine a better opener I love it so much|| the singles are definitely a choice... But they're fun. I like lover, she's cute 🥰

I love this album. That is all.

Lol, but in all seriousness. I am like everyone on here who at first didn't really vibed with the album. I remember hearing it and being a huge fan of ME!, YNTCD, and INTHAF. However, once I gave myself the proper timing and attention to listen to the album from front to back, it instantly became one of my favorite Taylor albums. I personally think this album is extremely overhated for no reason.

When Lover came out, I listened to it for the first time with my mom! Soon You'll Get Better made me cry on first listen. I don't remember my first impressions of many songs beyond that, though. I really loved Paper Rings at first, ranking it first on the album, but then I started loving Cruel Summer even more! I still think Cruel Summer is the best song she's ever written 😄

When lover arrived it was a fever dream. However, as the years went by it slowly faded into the back. Lover only has 1 of my top 10 ranking songs overall and it is my least favorite album to date. I still remember the day that Lover came out! I had to go on a school trip the next day, and I was on the bus listening to the whole album because my parents didn’t let me stay up late to listen to it 😭 but, when Me! and YNTCD came out, I remember streaming them so much that ME! was my MOST streamed song of 2019. I automatically fell in love with every song. Lover has been my favorite Taylor album for quite some time, and Death By A Thousand Cuts is my favorite song of ALL TIME. Every song besides It’s Nice To Have A Friend has grown on me. To think that I was starting 9th grade when the album just came out and now- I’m starting college- it’s insane. I love Lover so much. And, the live from Paris recordings are amazing. Happy anniversary to my favorite Taylor album, forever and always 🩷

The lover era was so weird to me, cause i was talking with my ex boyfriend of the time and we had been talking about getting back together (we didn’t tho) but like he made me believe we were still a thing and then we weren’t, so I guess I got to relate to the whole album. I had recently cut my hair and edited my profile picture as the lover cd cover lol. Also I used to use the lover color palette for everything. That album was the first deluxe I bought by myself and it will always have a meaningful impact in my life, even when Taylor releases new music.

Lover despite its positive, romantic, and upbeat theme. there are some really sad songs on the album like “the archer”, “cornelia street”, “afterglow” and “death by a thousand cuts.” i think I first enjoyed the upbeatness with songs like “i think he knows” and “paper rings” but soon i came to love the sad songs as i felt more meaning from it.

I remember it being announced. And I also remember the GMA about Lover. Good old days. Itms not my favourite album but some of the songs from Lover are probably all time bests. Favourite song probably Cornelia Street or Daylight. Sad for Loverfest being cancelled. Could’ve been my first Tay concert. But oh well. Excited for the Eras when she performs songs from Lover.

With Lover, the singles progressively got better with each release (minus the archer). It was kinda interesting since it was my first full album release that i experience, so I got to participate in some of the clowning… five holes in the fences I remember my favorite songs initially was daylight DBTAC and MAATHP. This changed kinda to more so paper rings, I think he knows, but MAATHP and DBTAC stayed the same.

I think one thing that bothered me was how lover kinda needed a deluxe a bit and some tracks deviated from the message of lover

I wasn’t a swiftie when Lover came out but when I started listening to more Taylor music it was my favorite album, now it’s like 3rd or 4th but I still love it, skipless imo

Happy 4th Anniversary / Birthday to Lover!!!!
I was so, so, so incredibly proud of Taylor when Lover came out. I feel like Lover was the album where she started healing; it was the first album that she truly owned. I think Lover is a hit or miss album for most people, but I think for me, um, it's definitely in my top 5. You have the perfect balance of cutesy, hopeless romantic songs, scream-at-the-top-of-your-lungs songs, self-love songs, songs about your friends/family - reassuring them that soon they'll get better (Andrea 🥺), breakup songs. and, of course, the cry-your-eyes-out depressing songs, which, in a way, we all somehow relate to, in one way or another.
Another thing I absolutely love about the Lover album is the EASTER EGGS! Especially the ME! music video - the snake bursting into butterflies was such a mastermind thing to do. Also ME! is so overhated - it's such a bop, like do you not just get up and start singing ME! when it comes on?! Sometimes I just randomly say "I promise that you'll never find another like me!" .

I love the cute little message at the end of Daylight, and this is just a small part of my opinions on the Lover album. Personally, I definitely think that some of Taylor's best songs are on the Lover album!

I was not there during lover announcement/release sadly and even though I have to admit it is one of my lesser favs it has some absolute bangers. Death by a thousand cuts is and will always be one of my favourite Taylor songs and I think the live from paris version is absolutely phenomenal. My favourites haven't changed much from when I first heard it other than absolutely falling in love with the archer and cruel summer tayadmire my skips are iftye, me, yntcd, sygb and the man

Happy birthday Lover 🥺 While it certainly isn’t my favorite album of hers, it’s era is so adorable and you can tell she had fun making the whole album 😭 So happy Cruel Summer finally became a single!!! The Archer is probably my fav, followed by MAATHBP. I had taken a break from Taylor when Loverfest was announced, but it still breaks my heart thinking of all the people who lost their chance to see Tay 💔💔 I hope you guys got tickets to Eras!!!

i think lover is such a good album and cornelia street is probably my favourite song from it, her documentary came out around the lover era and it was really nice and i think lover was a perfect way to rebound from reputation's darkness or whatever. i wish lover fest could have actually happened, the photoshoots were some of the most beautiful taylor has ever done. happy birthday lover 💟

LOVE YOU LOVER, it was my first era and experiencing it was just so amazing, I LOVE ALL OF LOVER but some honorable mentions, DBATC, SYGB and Afterglow. Everything from the lover era was just so beautiful and adorable the photo shoots, the ~~hey kids spelling is ~~ fun MVs!!

Lover is very important to me. I became a Swiftie during the Lover era, in late 2019/early 2020. It is what gave me permission to enjoy whatever I want. I had secretly wished to listen to Taylor, ever since Fearless. But all the hate and lies out there made me afraid to listen to music I liked lest I be judged for it. Lover was the very first Taylor Swift album I listened to in full. I listened to it many times and fell in love and went on to listen to every other Taylor album (minus the Christmas EP)
Daylight is the most important Lover song to me. It is peace, it is serenity, and if I could choose only one Taylor Swift song for my life to embody it would be Daylight.
"I wanna be defined by the things that I love, not the things I hate" “You are what you love” I would never prosper and thrive in my life if I kept being mired down and obsessing over things I hated. I needed to focus on things I loved without reservation about the judgment of others.

Lover is actually a really underrated album. In a way, it's a hidden gem. If you remove the stigma it's just as beautiful as the rest of her discography. 'The Archer', 'False God', 'SYGB' and ' MAATHB' are some of my tops favourites. In my mind, Loverfest would have been a total vibe. Just beautiful. Pastel and glitter everywhere, a lot of solidarity and just community; new friends and a whole lotta love. Idk I just think it would've been the best.

Lover! It’s alright, there are some okay moments on this album but in whole I just am not a fan. There’s really high points, my favorite songs are Death By A Thousand Cuts (Beautiful lyricism and Piano moments), I Think He Knows (The superior version of Lavender Haze), Paper Rings (Reminds me of Avril Lavigne’s song Girlfriend, they have almost the exact same production to me), Afterglow (The drums are very appealing to me in this song) But then the rest of the songs are either bad or fly under the radar. I Forgot That You Existed (Feels more like an Ariana Grande song than anything Taylor Would write), Cornelia Street (I don’t see the hype over this one, it has a very odd production to me), The Archer (It’s just so boring I’m sorry, I get why it doesn’t have a beat drop but it would’ve been so better with one), It’s Nice To Have A Friend (My least favorite Taylor song of all time, creepy, hard to understand, and I really just don’t get what’s appealing about this song in any way), False God (This song bores me and is right down there in Least Favorites with INTHAF)

Obviously my thoughts about this album are not confined by just the album, but the era itself too. I really like it! It’s not my favorite, but some of that might be due to the fact that this era was unfortunately cut short. Her live performances were alright vocally, and the outfits were obviously not too elaborate leading up to the unfortunately cancelled Lover Fest 💔.

BUT there’s other songs from the Lover era that I am a lover of (And I’m not talking about All Of The Girls, but that is a great song)
IM TALKING ABOUT MY GIRL BEAUTIFUL GHOSTS, SHE IS MY UNDERRATED QUEEN I LOVE HER SHE IS GIVING ME MUSICAL THEATRE REALNESS AND I AM LIVING FOR IT.

All in all, Lover sits at a comfortable 6th at my ranking, despite me being so critical. But I still love her lover lover lover

Lover was such a fun album! I remember watching the ME! video over and over again, and it was the last thing I watched on my TV before I moved somewhere new. I remember listening to it first in the car and loving Cruel Summer and Paper Rings. I was disappointed when Lover Fest was announced and there was no date for my city :(. But then it got cancelled, and nobody got to see her. That sucked. The heart-shaped stage would've been crazyyyy. I loved how Lover was the complete opposite of reputation, it was funny in ways and interesting too. The lover era was a great time, and I'm glad Taylor gave us AOTGYLB and Cruel Summer as a single.

April, 2019. My best friend had just died a few months ago and I still was coping with it. The only thing keeping me sane was Taylor's music. And then BAM! She drops the lead single of Lover across the time I was moving on from the passing.

ME! made me help how life is not just black and white or good and bad, but something full of colors and rainbows of different feelings.

Then the rest is history, like YNTCD (which also helped in coming out to my brothers), the album drop (which helped me move on from severe trauma AND has my favorite song ever "False God"), Lover MV (which is one of my few favs) and then I fell in love for the first time in my life.

I was gonna go to Lover Fest with my first ever crush and had everything planned out.

The songs in the albums are a few of the ones I relate too enough that I can re-live moments in my mind the second I hear a song. This album holds a very special place in my heart and I'm so glad it takes a big part of the Eras Tour.

Its a 9/10 album (because INTHAF sucks absolute ass).

I dont absolutely LOVE the album but it’s okay! My favourite songs are Cornelia Street and Paper Rings, love the outfit though! It’s a great era and it’s probably in my top five, literally screams “GLITTERRRRRRR!” Love it, it’s a fan favourite and I’m pretty sure we all just love it, doesn’t deserve to be 10th but it also doesn’t deserve to be 1st.

it’s kind of silly, lover is probably my least favourite album, or the album i listen to the least i suppose. but it had such a big impact on me it has a special place in my heart. i think i’ve told this story here before but i will tell it again for lover time because i love(r) it 🥹 lover came out the summer i started dating my now husband(!) none of my previous partners had given a single fuck about taylor, or about me loving taylor, just didn’t really care. i had mentioned this new album to my then brand new bf and told him how excited i was, and the day lover dropped he took me to the store and bought a whole selection of pink candies, pink wine, cupcakes, the whole shebang. and although he did not have any interest in LISTENING to the album, he gave me his fancy headphones and watched me jam out with a big smile on his face 🥹🥹🥹🥹

Lover, i was excited about listen this album it came out in a very interesting time for me, i was starting my new degree after my gap year. I was kind of in love my degree(biochem) and i listen this album with love really and i also loved the album(lover still not in my fav album list) because Taylor tells us her love and her love songs about JOE. After rep i thought we won’t hear another love album but oh boy i was so wrong, I love the Lover(it’s really is a great song for wedding) I even tried play lover on my brothers wedding but no luck :(
Anyway I think Lover has got a special place in my heart with Red because she released Red while I was dealing with my first heartbreak and Lover came out when i gained my Love again in science and life yeah that’s it

i love lover, was my fav for six months and i think it’s such a good album. i don’t undertsnad how some people hate it but we all have different taste anyways. i love dbatc and daylight. my fav from that album. it’s such a good album and some songs about joe ❤️. all the songs meanings are amazing imo and a album called lover coming out after rep is so good. taylor’s colours going from black to pink is cool

I remember when listening to Lover for the first time in 2019 I was just completely obsessed with so many of the tracks but Cruel Summer, Miss Americana & Heartbreak Prince and Afterglow especially. The album has so many bangers and has been elevated even more by All Of The Girls You Loved Before which has joined my favourites on the album. Some of the songs have also grown on me a lot through the years, The Archer most of all. While the tracklist is a bit messy, Lover definitely holds a strong place in Taylor's discography.

LOVERR! honestly this album was such a mixed bag when i first listened to it on the server. i really liked paper rings, cruel summer and daylight at first listen. now, I wouldn't call paper rings a favourite but i do love cornelia street and dbatc. i don't really frequent this album as often as the others since it's a very mixed bag but I can appreciate the step this album took not being w her old record label and the aesthetic overall is just chef's kiss

I got back into during the Lover Era after my APUSH teacher played Taylor on Fridays and I became a hardcore swiftie once the pandemic hit (pre-folklore). I didn't really like the singles (except Lover) at first, but I do vibe with most of the songs on Lover. I really love Cruel Summer || (such a banger during Eras)||, Cornelia Street, and Death By A Thousand Cuts.

Fave lyric: "I once believed love would be burning red, but it's golden" 🥺 ❤️

Lover was the first full taylor swift album i listened to, and of course it had to be the title track that drew me to it. over the years i’ve had so many songs from lover make it to my on repeat playlist over and over - mostly daylight, cruel summer, i think he knows.

daylight is the most special song to me - it soundtracks some of the best times of my life, and i’m always telling myself “i want to be defined by the things that i love, you are what you love”.

For years and years I was always Red or Ded, but then Lover came along and it immediately blew me away. I really loved the concept of the album and how it was distinctive from the rest of her body of work. Lover really did the impossible and knocked Red out as the sole possessor of her best album. I'll really never understand why so many fans are so perpetually down on the album, but it's their loss I suppose. I loved the Lover era with the exception of Loverfest which was perhaps some unfortunate foreshadowing that I was never going to be able to see her live again lol

Lover still and will forever be in my 🐐 tier. Just a great, great, great album tayadmire tayrelieved

lemme actually rank lover though. 2019 when it came out i was in line with it the vibes were just amazing! i also got tickets to loverfest but then covid 🥲. as an album it has both sad and happy songs which i love bc you can listen to it in any mood! which is amazing bc not all albums are like that. i mean since 2019 alot has happened so it’s ranked 7th out of 10th for me but i still absolutely love it as an album and the way it is! also can we talk about how she met bejamin during the me! video shoot. i find that amazing bc i absolutely love cats. all in all, lover is an amazing album 🫶

I wasnt a full blown swiftie during lover era but i remember hearing that tay was coming out with anew album. Fast forward to now, its one of my favourite albums of taylor. I feel like this is one of those albums that you either really like or just dont. My favourite songs from lover are definitely miss americana and the heartbreak prince, afterglow, cornelia street and cruel summer. Lover was my first taylor album that i loved so its always going to hold a speical place in my heart tayadmire

I was there when the singles dropped, but didn't listen to the album at the time (I loved IFTYE though). 3 months ago, after finding out a friend of mine loved Afterglow, I decided to give it a try.

Of course, I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Lover album was so good! I really liked the cd, it was gorgeous. I was disappointed Lover Fest got canceled but also disappointed that I would not have been able to attend with the smaller cities she was visiting then. At least things are better for her family now that she can tour more! I also wish I got the signed Lover cd, which was sold out by the time I could. When lover first came out I was OBSESSED with the archer. It is one of my fav eras and I love love loved the album. It has my two favourite songs of all time- cornelia street and daylight. When it first released, I had my chem lab and I remember running to the library and playing all the songs. Soon you'll get better became my instant fav and I can't believe I didn't like cruel summer that much. But now Cornelia street has slowly become my #1 as that song helped me immensly during 2020 and 2021. This album has a special place in my heart.

Lover will always hold a special place in my heart because it was during this era that I became a swiftie. It was the first Tay album release I got to experience and it was honestly amazing. The release of the ME! music video really made me want to rewatch all other Taylor mvs I knew and this started my Taylor obsession. My favourite song at the time of the release was Cruel Summer and I'm not even ashamed to say that it hasn't changed since tayadmire. This entire album is filled with tons of amazing songs like Afterglow, DBATC, Cornelia Street, Paper Rings and soooo many more songs (I've also been obsessed with The Archer recently 👀 tayadmire). I will forever be grateful to the release of the ME! music video to start my Taylor obsession and the release of the album to cement my decision <33

So, I used to not like Lover as much bc it didn't resonate with me... But now, after years not paying enough attention to Lover (only at the songs I loved), the album grew significantly to me btayadmire
I remember I instantly loved Cruel Summer, The Archer (this one is such an underrated track 5), MA&THP, Cornelia Street and False God btayadmire
Idk why but the idea I didn't liked Lover, DBATC, Afterglow and Daylight right at start feels criminal tayhands
Nowadays I like most of the album except for IFTYE, London Boy and INTHAF, maybe one day I'll change my mind and these will grow on me

And ofc I need to appreciate Lover era as a whole, after all it was the 1st album it is 100% owned by Taylor, we had some great moments and we, Brazilians, got finally noticed by Tay with Lover Fest dates taypleadingbtayadmire Even if it was cancelled due to covid, I'm so happy bc this was the confirmation she wants to go here and now I'll go to the Eras Tour see her sing Lover songs and (almost) all eras songs in November btayadmire

Ok so for me Lover will always have a special place in my heart it was the ablum that made me a swiftie and forever changed my life!
I was at a friends house and randomly Paper Rings started playing and I was like "damn thats a cool song I wonder who its by... oh Taylor Swift!" And then i listened to ME!and that was also amazing and then ofc the song Lover just made me obsessed. From there I discovered more and more of that album and her music and ofc her fans! The whole reason I eventually joined this server is through the Lover era after doing listening parties run by Taylor Nation. I truely love Lover and it really is the best Tay album
