1989 Happy 8 Years of 1989! (day 27)

Once again, it is another Taylor album anniversary. Let's talk about 1989 and the 1989 era! Again, this one is pretty flexible. Do you have a 1989 lyric that you absolutely LOVE? Is there a song that you think is underrated? Were you at the 1989 tour? Did you experience the album rollout in 2014? Write about it for today's point! As usual, aim for 50+ words.

Place your response below!

when 1989 came out i was about to move across the country and i had a huge crush on someone at the time so i super related to wildest dreams in a way that's pretty cringe looking back lol. but wildest dreams is still one of my favs on 1989, along with style and new romantics. My mom and i always sing new romantics together whenever it comes on

I wasn't a swiftie when the album came out, but even though i was a few years late 1989 is hands down one of the best pop albums i have heard. Loved the whole vibe of the album. My favourites are definitely wonderland and this love. This album is the one album i will scream the lyrics out loud to while on a road trip, a main character vibe wbk.

1989 is such a classic pop album. It’s not my favorite album but there’s no denying that it’s one of the most enjoyable ones solely because every song is a bop. My favorite songs are Out of the Woods, How You Get The Girl, and I Know Places. The Out of the Woods bridge is iconic and perfect for screaming along to. Her performance for HYGTG on the 1989 tour is one of my favorites. And I Know Places is amazing. Honorary mentions include Style, Wildest Dreams, Clean and New Romantics. Even my least favorite songs on this album are worth singing along to.

1989 may be my least favorite album but it’s still a classic of hers I can’t discredit that. It’s just to me 1989 is somewhat the album with all the popular songs from her; “Blank Space” / “Wildest Dreams” / “Bad Blood” / “Out Of The Woods.” However songs like: How You Get The Girl / All You Had To Do Was Stay / Welcome To New York are all stables of the album that are overlooked and underrated imo. In 2014, I can say I did have the experience when the album rollout was happening but with family instead. But yeah, other than my opinion on underrated songs and why it’s her pinpointed album and people who don’t listen to Taylor are the ones to say a 1989 song off the bat. Happy 8 years to the album that was with me in high school. aPES_MmmYeMusic

1989 is definitely her most iconic album and up there for me !! whenever I recommend taylor swift I always start with 1989 because it's a very likeable album. my fav is wildest dreams, STYLE, clean and wonderland. even though not many of my friends are swifties or like her, a lot of them have heard and like these songs and that makes me happy. I really love the cover and it's by far my fav haha. I'm also really looking forward to the rerecording and the vaults

1989 is hold a special place in my heart, since it’s the album that made me a swiftie. This album has many of Taylor’s biggest hits, and I have many memories of this era. Watching the “Blank Space” music video made me see that Taylor was someone truly special who could play into the way people were portraying her. I was obsessed with the “Bad Blood” video when it came out and watch it over and over again when I came home from school. I have vivid memories of watching the premier of the “Out of the Woods” video when it came out on New Year’s, as well as her performance of it at the Grammys. Besides my memories from this time, the album holds some of Taylor’s best singles, as well as some stellar deep cuts like “Clean”, “You Are In Love”, and “I Wish You Would”. “Blank Space”, “Style”, “Wildest Dreams”, and “New Romantics” are some of her best choices for singles (with “New Romantics” deserving much more success than it got). Overall, this was a massive album with a tonne of memorable hits and it’s no surprise that all that sucked me in and I haven’t looked back since. Happy 8 years of 1989! 1989deluxe

Happy 8 years to such an iconic album 1989deluxe💙
Although it's not my all-time favorite Taylor album, it's undeniable 1989 is the most iconic Taylor era and it was one of those albums (along with Red and many other albums from other artists) that helped me in my lowest days of my worst depressive episode between 2014 and 2016, it was a place of comfort and imagining myself in a better setup than real life - it really gives me good memories during those dark times, it was a light to help me navigate throughout those times... I can't be thankful enough for this album and all Taylor's work 🥹💙
My favorite song is Clean bc it feels like exactly myself nowadays, I think I am finally clean from some trauma from this time... Other songs I love are Out Of The Woods, Blank Space, Style, Wildest Dreams, This Love, You Are In Love and New Romantics 💙
I'm so happy with Wildest Dreams and This Love TV, but I can't wait for 1989 TV and to listen to the vault tracks, it will be so magical for me to live 1989 era over again in a better mental health place (just like it was with Red TV) 1989deluxetayadmire💙

1989 is my second favourite album to be honest. Taylor has tried so many different music styles and this is one of the best. I have always loved upbeat songs and this was perfect for me. One of the first 1989 songs I heard were Blank Space and Wildest Dreams. They were recommended by my Swiftie best friend and she is no longer my friend, so whenever I hear these songs I remember her. (IDK why she blocked me but it's fine). I loved the M/V's. This was one of her best eras. I do regret not knowing Taylor earlier but I am glad I do now.

When 1989 got released, I was still in high school, and i remember everyone was listening to it, to shake it off. People that didn't like Taylor and so, they just couldn't help but sing the words along every time it was playing. I wanted to go to the 1989 tour but back then i didn't understand much how the tickets worked and stuff.

My favorite songs from the album have shifted since then, and they change every time i listen to the album, for sure. This album is just banger after banger. I remember going to Walmart in the US, seeing the album (the standard version) and buying it. Again, back then i didn't know about standard and deluxe versions. This album was the first i bought on my own (the first i had from taylor is red back in 2012), and just experiencing going to the store and getting one that has the polaroids, it was such a thrill.

This album came to changed the whole music industry, especially when streaming was just about to be a huge thing. I loved the aesthetic, i loved the era, i loved how taylor was just so active all the time, and i loved that she tried new things and succeeded.

I grew up hearing 1989 a lot in the malls so when I listen to it now it’s really nostalgic and it reminds me of dancing and good vibes. my all time fav from it is wildest dreams but since becoming a hardcore swiftie my other fav is wonderland. it’s a great album to put on when you’re feeling happy and want to singalong and dance to the best :)

AHH HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FAVOURITE TAY ALBUM! taylove 1989 1989deluxe

1989 was probably the album where I started to subconsciously become a Swiftie. It was a massive addition to not only her discography, but the pop part of the music industry as well. The album was basically a cultural reset. I would hear it everywhere. From "Blank Space", "Style" and "Out Of The Woods" on the radio in the car, (where I sang the words wrong, ofc), to the unforgettable "Shake It Off" which everyone memorised.

The entire album was pop perfection in every sense of the word. The lyrics were ear worms, but still beautifully written and held deep meanings, which I came to realise and love as I grew older. In my opinion, some of her best music videos came from the 1989 era, such as "Bad Blood" filled with badass women pulling off badass moves, and "Out Of The Woods" and "Wildest Dreams", which were breath-taking. Her vocals suited every song perfectly and showed so much growth from where she started as a country girl.

From the entire album, my instant favourite was "Wildest Dreams". I remember hearing it for the first time ever and being absolutely enchanted by it - her vocals were just so airy. So enchanted that I spent an entire hour writing out the lyrics and drawing flowers around them. As I listened to the rest of the album, I also came to love "New Romantics", "Wonderland" and "Clean". However to me every song is perfect and I have never skipped any songs on it - ever. I am so excited to hear how they sound on Taylor's Version, and to hear the vault tracks.

My only regret was not being able to see 1989 tour live, because that in itself was a big part of pop culture. I will be forever envious of those who got to see Taylor's iconic costumes, mashups and hear her vocals live. Because lord knows she'll probably never sing some of them again. I will forever cherish this album.

”There's one thing you should know about me before we begin, I was born in 1989!”
1989, the goat album 🐐 . Although I wasn’t a swiftie in this era, the first Tay song I ever heard was Bad Blood (through the Lego Ninjago Movie trailer) and I was hooked. It went straight into my rotation. Even though its one of my less favourites on 1989 now, I still love it so much. As an era, 1989 marked Tay’s proper vault into full blown pop, and is her most well known album id guess. It also had a really great tour. Some of my faves on the album include WD, OOTW, AYHTDWS, Style, blank space and NewR (yes this is half the album), but Id like to talk about I Know Places today. The vibe of this song is unmatched, i know ive said the same thing about several songs this month but she captures the hide-and-seek vibe of it so well, from the first I-I-I-I to the high voltage ending. I particularly like the second part of the first verse (Something happens when everybody finds out / See the vultures circling, dark clouds / Love's a fragile little flame, it could burn out / It could burn out). besides another immacukate metaphor, the way she sings this really makes your heart race, as if people are right behind you in the hunt. Anyway this is getting long so yup theres my 1989 review

Albeit not my personal favourite, 1989 is definitely her most iconic and eminent album tayadmire. This album marked her transition into overt pop and delineates her growth from that innocent country girl to one of the quintessential pop stars of the 2010s. This album has sooo many highlights and amazing songs but some of my personal favourites are This love, Wildest dreams, Out of the woods, Clean, Wonderland, New Romantics, You are in love, Style, Blank space and I know places ( gonna stop myself before I list the entire tracklist 😭).

1989 is not really my favorite album or least favorite. Although this, 1989 is still my nostalgia since I first became a Swiftie during that era (until 2018 for some reason). I remember when I was in the car blasting Shake It Off and Style with my parents. My favs are IKP, HYGTG, This Love, NewR, and YAIL. I don't really have words to this anymore soo

Although I don't really like Pop Taylor much, the way she became a pop artist from country is so, so wow. The way it only takes her 6 years to become this is just so wow. I'm really hoping for Vault Tracks in 1989 TV, but for now, let's just celebrate my nostalgic album, 1989. Happy Birthday!

I love 1989! I would always listen to shake it off or blank space when it first came out. It also has iconic music videos, (for ex blank space, sio, ootw, and wd) my favorite songs on this album currently are probably yail, wtny, ootw, ikp and New Romantics. This is also one of my favorite album covers, I just love the Polaroid theme! This is such a great album and I’m very jealous of anyone who went to the 1989 tour. But happy anniversary to a iconic album

1989 is one of my favourite albums and from memory was the first taylor swift mv I watched (blank space). I can still remember those days when everyone was listening to it on the radio and stuff and brings back good memories. My favourite on the album would probably be wildest dreams but honestly all of them are good.

1989 was my first taylor album, being only seven or that time, i used to obsess over Blank Space and Shake It Off. After that I realised this was the same singer who sang ybwm and fell in love with her instantly. For a few years i did not listen to music at all but listening to folklore was what brought me back into music. My favorite songs from 1989 are Wonderland, Clean, Blank Space, I Know Places, Wildest Dreams, Style and You are in love. Another one of my recent obsessions has been This Love after Taylor's Version came out. 1989 is wonderful as an album, from it's singles to music videos it's pop perfection.

1989 was the era where I became a big fan of Taylor tayadmire tayadmire tayadmire before that I had listened and liked a couple of songs but it was blank space and the music video that made me curious about digging deeper into her discography. I absolutely loved the era and how she was so active on social media, it’s bittersweet now knowing how she was feeling during this era though flowerwinepepe i also became a part of this server during this era and it was so much fun having watch parties and hyping together with other swifties online about ootw and New Romantics and those are some really dear memories tayadmire tayadmire

1989 was my first proper era as a fan, I was so overwhelmed by it
when Blank Space mv was released it instantly became my favorite song, later it was replaced by Wildest Dreams, which is still my favorite song from the album, and favorite solo performance (Grammy museum), and after the TV it rised in my rankings even more, it might even be my most streamed song ever tayimp
my other favorite songs are, LITERALLY EVER SINGLE SONG, idc what anybody says none of the songs are bad.

To be honest it took me a while to love 1989. I think it’s a great album now but back then I didn’t really like some of the songs. I still don’t like some songs, but I still vibe to themhearteyeshug my favorite songs are out of the woods, clean and wonderland. I think these songs are truly amazing and under appreciated, the songs are so well written , they might even be on my top 10 overall fav Taylor songs. One song I don’t really like is how you get the girl, it is a great song to vibe to but I won’t play it on my own🤷

1989 was my favourite album for a really long time and sometimes it still is. It's just that good. Just like the other 2 albums, I wish I could've gone to the 1989 World Tour. I have seen that tour way too many times by now. Probably the most amount. And I loved her being active on social medias. I think this was the peak of tumblr, instagram and twitter Taylor. And I still miss that. Just random things. Other than that, Album is simply the best. Style being my favourite from the album.

Can't believe 1989 is 8 years old already 1989😭 It still feels like yesterday, watching the Blank Space mv on repeat and memorising the lyrics so that i could sing it with my friends the next daytayrelieved taypleading I love all the songs on this album but if i had to choose one favourite, i'd go with You Are In Love. I love the lines "Pauses, then says, You're my best friend, And you knew what it was, He is in love"
I also really like HYGTG! The live performance at 1989 World Tour with the neon lights and umbrellas is one of my favourite Taylor performances tayadmire

While I was exploring Taylor's discography in the lead up to reputation, the one album which I could not get enough of was 1989. The production is great, songs incredibly catchy and it feels really complete as an album. The album has always been one of faves from her.

Style is probably my favourite because of how addictive its melody is. It's the perfect song to bop to. New Romantics and I Wish You Would are also amazing. The latter especially because of its amazing bridge and the song is so underrated. Out Of The Woods has a masterpiece of a bridge and it live at the 1989 tour is probably one of her best performances because of those outstanding vocals.

I think my favourite lyric would be "cause baby I could build a castle, out of all the bricks they threw at me". I can't exactly put into words why but I just love it

1989 came out while in high school and it was really inspiring to see Taylor breaking out of her shell. I loved New Romantics and Welcome To New York the most that year because, coming from a smallish town, I wanted to live in new york and soak up all the art and culture so badly. I eventually went to college close to new york and went their all the time and it was always super inspiring to be there in the center of it all. My music production class did a reallllly cringe cover of I Know Places when i was in high school. the productions good but the soloist was mid (message me if you want to hear it lmao).

1989, man this album has helped me through the thick and thin parts of life where we don't know how to express something like falling in love, having love that has issues, and having your confidence in life back. I remember each of these songs has helped with every emotion that i fought to sit and think about with the songs. Dancing all night was a core memory and i hope we can all keep dancing with taylor to this album in which she truly found a side of her pop, new york charm. 💙 i remember loving the grammy museum "out of the woods" wildest dreams and even "you are in love" till i fell out of love, but ay there's a song for that too! Clean had a special part of my heart too. and bad blood and wonderland and every song. I love how she can describe different hidden emotions in so many songs :) love you taylor <3 stay iconic 4ever 💖

1989 MY BELOVED i remember it blowing up with blank space, i used to watch the mv like every day because it was so wild. it's not very high up in my ranking because of the album as a concept, but so many bops i love. style, wildest dreams, new romantics, bad blood! my favourite songs have got to be out of the woods and this love. ootw's lyrics are worth screaming, and i love that. this love, because "these hands had to let it go free but this love came back to me". also worth mentioning is the iconic live performance of clean from the rep tour i sob every time. When 1989 was first released, i was absolutely obsessed. I remember telling and convincing my middle school teacher to play the Out Of The Woods music video in class and being so excited it came out. I love How You Get The Girl so much because it’s such a happy and upbeat song. New Romantics is also fantastic, and grew on me so so much. Style has, handsdown, one of the best instrumentals of all time. 1989 means a lot to me, because it was when I would first religiously listen to Taylor. Happy 1989 Day!

Omg 1989 is literal pop perfection. Every single song is such a bop and it makes sense that it became such a huge and famous album. Even though it went down in my rankings recently, listening to it yesterday made me realise what an amazing album it is. I understand now why I had it 2nd for the longest time 😂 tayadmire My favourite songs are You Are In Love, Wildest Dreams and Out Of The Woods. Honestly all 3 of these songs are just beautiful and their production is top notch. Some of my other favourites are Style and I Wish You Would. Even her live performances of these songs from the 1989 tour is just omg tayadmire tayadmire The way she changes the bridge of Out Of The Woods, how she got the entire crowd to sing the echo for You Are In Love and my favourite- The Wildest Dreams x Enchanted mashup (obviously my fav since Enchanted is the best taylor song to ever exist) But yeah 1989 is an amazing album which deserves all the love it gets yas tayrelieved

1989: one of Taylor's best works. I still remember Shake if Off was played on repeat. New Romantics, OOTW, Clean, HYLTG, Blank Space and SIO are emt absolute favorite tracks on that record. Best lyrics for is "The best people in life are free." I really love the high notes from New Romantics and Shake if Off. I love remix of Enchanted and Wildest Dream at tour. When it was released, I couldn't be with the US swifties. So I'm excited to celebrate the Taylor's Version with y'all, with more fans in communities. Is it too much that I want upbeat 13 valut tracks on TV....? It's just a question... 💙

1989 Deluxe, my beloved. This is my favorite Taylor album. From the witty Blank Space to catchy New Romantics, this album is truly pop perfection. My only regret in life is not going to 1989 tour.
