Listening to Midnights is very refreshing, however. I don't think this album will rank high in my book. (Yes I will continue to give it time when it comes.) Midnights starts of very bland. The only saving tracks of the first half is: Anti-Hero & You're On Your Own, Kid. Lana's feature or "feature" didn't deliver it for me.. However, the second half of Midnights delivered hard and was well done. Having Mastermind end was chef's kiss.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 of 5

I found it to be very different from what I was expecting tbh. I’m kinda shocked with what she gave us so I’d honestly say 8/10 for me. My favorites were anti hero or mastermind perhaps.

literally 9.7/10 its so good

#

i thought it was very good
definitely a step in a different direction. the songs didn't exactly flow into eachother very well
and theres a few skips
but over all its really good like one of my favorite taylor albums now

For me Midnights is a perfect in-between of reputation's noir banger tracks and lover's bubblegum pop, as well as bringing back the immaculate songwriting from folklore/evermore. Some of the tracks tend to blend in with each other but it probably just needs another listen to cement in my head. It's not my favorite Taylor Swift album (nothing will ever beat Red sorry) but it's amazing nonetheless. (better than Lover) 7.5/10

10/10, it is so good

I’ve listen to the album almost twice now, and i know it’s my favorite album now, omg this is such a refreshing album, new sounds, it’s just 🤯, can’t be compared with 1989 it’s just so different. I loved the folklore/evermore era but idk this feels like the old Taylor, love it

7/10, after 2 listens. I'm sure it will grow on me after a week of listening. I was very hyped for this album. I enjoyed the fact that it's a nice blend of her many other albums. So far I could pick up vibes and direct winks to 1989, reputation, Lover, folklore, red both from the melodies, lyrics and the music sound signature/mixing style.

Since the songs aren't exactly revolutionary to what she used to do before, they are easy to listen to, because they sound familiar... and for that aspect the album has something...comforting about that.

As for the lyrics, I was used to her story telling, deep lyrics... and the tracks in this album ... haven't hit me as hard as the ones in the previous albums.

But if that's because they're less dramatic, and if Taylor has drama to tell...I mean I'm glad for that, girl getting a bit of peace hahahah

Speaking of peace, Sweet Nothing is really sweet 😊

This album definitely caught me off guard on first listen and was not what I expected but it has grown on me!! Didn't love some tracks and I feel that there could have been stronger lyrical substance in some songs but I liked the album as a whole tayrelieved Standouts were definitely sotb, yoyok, question...?, maroon and mastermind! Solid 7.5/10

I’ve lost count of how many listens I’m in now. I didn’t love it the first time I heard it, wasn’t the exact vibe I was expecting. It’s definitely grown on me since though and my favourites right now are Sweet Nothing, Anti-Hero and Bejeweled.

Will of course listen to it a lot more so my view of songs will definitely change.

Fave overall album, none of the songs are my absolute fave (ATW10), but lots of top tier songs! Top songs are def: Anti-Hero, Labyrinth, Karma and Mastermind. Followed by Maroon, You're on Your Own, Kid and Bejewled. Overall album rating 9.6/10

Loving the vibe of the album, its like my favs lover rep and folklore rolled into 1, its poppy anr also ethereal, doesnt hurt that its raining as i listened! As of now my standouts are Lavendar Haze, Maroon, Antihero (what a great opening trio, rivals folklore's i think), question, vigilante shit, karma and mwstermind. Rating: 8.5/10 (possibly my 3rd fav from her)

didn't know I how bad I needed this till I heard it, though folklore and evermore were wonderful this album is>> . My favourite song is definitely midnight rain and maroon and labyrinth. I had extreme high hopes for snow on the beach but the fact there was no solo of lana in the song was kinda upsetting but the song was really good. This album is something i could dance to when i feel like it or just scream out the lyrics whenever i want. Oh no i'm falling in love again with another taylor album.

After listening to the album, and the 3am edition, i can't define top tracks or least liked. I feel like all the songs have either great lyrics or great sound, and ofc taylor's voice is perfect in every song. The 7 bonus tracks were a total surprise for me, they sound so different than the rest of the album. The one i liked the most from the 3am edition is Paris for sure. I give 10/10 to this album. Pretty much all the songs are bops. Ofc, i'll need to listen to it a few more times. I'm wondering how hits different sounds, and also how will the sweet nothing piano remix is gonna sound.

The real truth is every single message in this thread before 3am is invalid becasue the 3am tracks just destroyed the competition

At first listen it felt like a mix between lover and reputation, I really enjoyed the album! It’s not in my top Taylor albums but overall it’s good and I think I’ll listen to it for a long time. My favorite songs so far are: maroon, anti hero, vigilante shit and midnight rain. Vigilante shit will probably be amazing in a tour setting and I can’t wait for TOUR AGAIN!

Overall very good album 13/10. To me it felt like a combination of lover and evermore and I think that worked really well. My favourite songs right now would probably be lavender haze because the song name was cool and it kind of reminded me of lover and anti-hero because the message behind it was really powerful. Hope y'all enjoy the album!

After listening a few times I think that this is Taylor’s best produced album. All of the tracks are so meticulously crafted to create the dreamy synth pop album that it is. Idk how it compares to the rest of Taylor’s albums yet (cause I’m too tired to think about it tbh 😭) but I’m sure I’ll rank it very highly. My favourite songs are Lavender Haze, Bejewelled, Karma and most of the others tbh. The lyrics are so beautiful and the 7 bonus tracks add a different vibe to the album which adds more depth to it. Overall it slayed

after a few listens, i'm already sure it's my favorite album, because it's like a mix of all of her albums, it's like the perfect one, the mix of everything, my favorite track is vigilante shit at the moment but that'll probably change lol, my least favorite has to be sweet nothing, but either way, a solid 9.5/10 and definitely my favorite album so far!

I really enjoyed listening to the album! The first few tracks are just so so dreamy and aesthetic, amazing production overall. I’ll be listening to it while driving at midnights haha. My favorite songs are anti hero, vigilante shit, karma and paris. Also the visuals in Anti-Hero MV are priceless and I can't wait to see more!
it gets a solid 9/10 from me tayadmire

miss taylor alison swift idk where to start. it's too early to give an actual rating (recency bias and all that), but ik that this is gonna be one of my favourite albums. it's almost like this album has got some of the best parts from all her other albums. like i can't decide if it gives lover, evermore, reputation, 1989 vibes or smth else entirely. some of my favourites so far are lavender haze, anti-hero, question...? and vigilante shit. the only downside was the lack of lana solo (as everyone else said), but i can't wait to see which songs grow on me and become my favourites. also, anti-hero mv is amazing. overall, i love midnights so much tayadmiremidnights

Oh my god, where do I even start with this. After three listens I can say it has some of my favorite songs, and probably will become one of my favorite albums too. The synth pop music and ethereal vibe was so refreshing. Her voice is even better from last albums I think, the production is also amazing, its very well crafted by Jack. According to me "Would've, Could've, Should've" has the best lyrics in the whole album. My other favorites tracks are, Midnight Rain, Anti-Hero, Labyrinth and most Karma, I was so hyped for it and it delivered more than what I expected.
Overall rating: 13/13 tayadmire

#

also, the MV for Anti-hero is taking me places, its done so well, easily one of the best MVs of this year

Had mixed feelings about this album after the first listen but it's definitely growing on me! The 3am tracks are heavenly!! Can't stop listening to Paris and "i wanna brainwash you into loving me forever" is my favourite linetaypleading . Some tracks, i still don't like (just can't get myself to listen to Karma and Midnight Rain again tayoops) and some have grown on me since the first listen like Maroon (such 1989 vibes tayrelieved). Anti-Hero, You're On Your Own, Kid, Labyrinth, Paris and The Great War are my current top 5 and i don't think this ranking is gonna change anytime soon. 8.7/10 for the album tayadmire

Me oh my, where to begin. Every single time Taylor Swift drops a new album she reaffirms what an undeniable musical genius she is.

Midnights is the lofi girl but if she was alive in the 70s. That's the best way I can describe it. How Taylor can somehow make an album that somehow manages to sound completely modern while also sounding like a disco album that's been ripped from 70s is beyond comprehension of to mere mortals like myself. I thought evermore's weird Pop/Country/Alt Frankenstein status was such a weird fusion of sounds but this really blows that out of the water

My only complaints are

  • 🕯️ Lana
  • A lot of the album is sung in a pretty high pitch and it's hard for me with a lower voice to sing along with lol
  • There are some songs that feel like slow burners

And that's it. Not sure what else to say. Taylor is undefeated

I loved most of the tracks on first listen, including the 3 am ones, which I found to be at least just as good as the standard ones. It’s definitely a very different vibe from what we’re used to from Taylor and while some tracks didn’t hit me as hard, I can tell they’ll be growers. My favorite tracks at the moment are You’re On Your Own, Kid, Lavender Haze and The Great War. It gets a solid 8.5/10 from me (:

Ahhh I have no words for this album, everytime she releases a new one, she outdoes her previous ones. Midnights is the perfect mix of my favourite albums, Lover + 1989 + Reputation and a bit of Evermore. I think my favourite tracks so far are maroon, vigilante shit, lavender Haze, bejeweled and you're on your own, kid. The 3am tracks are the cherry on top for me. While it may not be for everyone, i loved the album and can't wait for her future albums.

I’ve listened to the full thing probably 5 or 6 times at this point and I’m still having trouble processing my thoughts! I enjoyed it from the first listen at midnight and each listen through is increasing my enjoyment! The 3 am tracks make the album only better, in my opinion. They balance out the synths and somewhat cheesier lyrics of the classic edition. This is such a tourable album and I can already imagine the performances and production. I cannot wait for that announcement!!

#

My initial impression of the album is fairly positive. I think a lot of the songs are pretty catchy and I love her delivery on a lot of the songs. There’s a few weird parts here and there which I’m not a fan of but still enjoyable as a whole. My favorites on initial listen are Anti-Hero, Bejeweled and Karma. Can’t wait to listen to it more and really learn the lyrics and let them grow on me. As for the bonus tracks, I love The Great War, Paris, and WCS. Amazingly catchy and listening all day.

This album was amazing, I really loved LH, Maroon, A-H, MR, VS, TGW. I rlly love the production, at first listen it sounded abit weird but after more listens it growed sm in me, and also the 3am version felt a bit weaker than the rest of the album imo, but overall it's AMAZING

10/10 the 3am surprise was so unexpected and the actual album was so good. Big fan of wcs, sotb and karma. Anti hero mv was funny and actually better for a lead single than i thought itd be.

#

Midnights was definitely not what I expected but it grew on me a lot. My favourite songs are snow on the beach, karma and question. I love lana's vocals and the vibe of sotb, the fun lyrics in karma and the production of question. Some things that are hard to like are the vocal effects like in midnight rain or the end of labyrinth but they aren't too bad overall. The release of the 3am tracks definitely elevated the album for me a whole bunch since the vibes are so good. In wcs and paris most of all

HI ITS ME IM THE PROBLEM
Midnights is just a whole MASTERPIECE. She slayed EVERY SONG. The whole era screams FANCY GLITTER SHINY. AND THE MV IS JUST SO chef kisses i actually relate to some parts of it but seeing taylor being able to surpass these struggles is just making me feel better and way more powerful..
Unfortunately i had school today and in the afternoon i had to attend an important event with parents which leads to the fact that all i heard from the album is the first four tracks (THEYRE SO GOOD OMG) only and i want to cry. So i’ll be listening to it tomorrow and film my reactions which is gonna be so cool!! So my actual review is going to be happening tomorrow lol

This was the first Taylor Swift album I have waited for. I wanted to love it. On my first listen I was left a little disappointed. I had been hoping for something similar to Reputation (my favorite album) but this felt like a Lover x Evermore baby. After about 5 listens now to the album I have decided that while I don't love Midnights, I like it. I will say, it usually takes me a while to warm up to music so maybe eventually I will love Midnights. It isn’t my favorite but some tracks are enjoyable. I will say, Midnights feels like Taylor writing for herself more than any other album does.
Top Five:
Mastermind
Karma
Anti-Hero
Lavender Haze
Bejeweled
Overall I would give Midnights a 6/10 rating. With the 3am songs 7/10

After some listenings I'm sure to say that Midnights surprised me A LOT, but not in a negative way!
Of course I was expecting a different sound because of the concept photos that are very 1970s but the mix of synth pop and dream pop was a very pleasant surprise to me, I adored the album production so much!
And I'm so happy that she released such a pop masterpiece, it sounds fresh, her voice sounds divine, the lyrics are mostly great to me... I love to see her writing more mature lyrics, I'm seeing this for quite a while but I'm so surprised this time, even more than with the folkmore lyrics. And surely she released some of the best songs of her career, I know most of the songs are focused in Taylor's life but I can relate to many stuff she released. I loved Midnights so much, it was a lot better than my expectations! And the 3am extra songs are wonderful, it was such a nice surprise in the middle of the night and so happy to see Aaron Dressner back! His production along with Jack Antonoff (overall, not only the 3am songs) are so great, and the lyrics are so beautiful!
And knowing that Midnights will be a visual album I'm so excited to see how all the puzzle pieces will look together, so excited to see her storytelling songwriting shining through visual storytelling, this was a huge dream of mine for a long time and it's finally coming true! I know it's going to be spectacular to watch and witness Midnights era!

5 songs from the standard edition that polished real nice to me (but to be fair, all the songs grew a lot on me and I'm in love with all of them):
Maroon
Labyrinth
Vigilante Shit
Snow On The Beach
Mastermind

And 3 favorite songs from the 3am edition (again, I love all songs but I can only choose 3):
The Great War
High Infidelity
Dear Reader

Overall score of Midnights for me (including 3am songs): 9.5/10

PS: the review I submitted to the Fearlessbot was a bit shorter (without the top 5/top 3 + the visual part) due to the 1700 character limit for answers

Another PS: Just listened to Hits Different and this song is really amazing, can't wait to be able to listen on streaming too!

Had to have multiple listens in before writing the review. So far listened to it 3 times. Very first time, just standard. And then the next 2 were 3am version. Standard Midnights was good. On initial listen I liked it. Only exception was Vigilante Shit. Favourites: Bejewelled, You're on your own Kid, Sweet Nothing, Karma. But 3 hours later, 3am version released. And I liked them even more. I think the 3am version songs were much much better in my opinion. Bop after bop. And I think I will listen to 3am edition only from now on. I loved Would've Could've Should've a lot. Probably my favourite from the whole album. Also listened to Hits Different. Really good song as well. Can't wait for it to be on streaming.

after listening to the album a few times, i came to a conclusion that i love it and there are 0 skips. the first of the album took me a while to like, i had to give it a few listens. right when i started to like the first part, taylor announced the chaotic announcement and the second part of the album was amazing. i liked everything on the first listen. the songs that i was really excited for, ended up not being my faves which was kind of disappointing. at first i really liked question..? i still do, its probably my fave off the first part. was really looking forward to hear karma, i thought itd be like idsb and dbm, but it ended up being quite different and i actually loved it! my top 3 off the first part are probably question...?, vigilante shit and lavender haze! now the second part.. it is a masterpiece. i really love the work that aaron does so when i heard wouldve couldve shouldve for the first time it was instantly my fave. bigger than the whole sky felt so magical and amazing, i truly love it. i really love the second part of the album, i think its better than the first one. my fav off the second part are bigger than the whole sky, wouldve couldve shoudlve and the great war! the autotune on the album felt a bit too much for me honestly, but i know the more ill listen to it itll grow on me.
my top 3 songs overall off the album are:

  1. question...?
  2. bigger than the whole sky
  3. wouldve couldve shoudlve
i rate this album overall 8/10!

I thought this was a 13/13!!! Midnights was so fantastic and after listening to it and looping it over 15 times so far, I only like it better and better. It’s the love child of lover and reputation with some hints of 1989 but with the deep lyrics and storytelling of Folklore and Evermore. She was sooooo amazing. I also loved Snow on the Beach (it’s my favorite right now), Karma, Anti-Hero, Mastermind (instrumentals popped off), and Paris as one of the bonus tracks. She only improves day after day!!

This might be Taylor's most experimental album yet. The soundscapes are different for her yet familiar at the same time. At times this doesn’t work so well, but for the most part, she delivers a very cohesive project that just reminds me of driving through the city at night with the windows down. The album is full of fountain pen lyrics (with a few Glitter Gel Pen lyrics sprinkled throughout) and it feels like a more mature version of her past pop songwriting. The standouts for me are “Lavender Haze”, “Maroon”, “Anti-Hero”, “Vigilante Shit”, “Mastermind”, “Bigger Than the Whole Sky”, “High Infidelity”, and “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve”. The ones I’m not too keen on are “Bejeweled”, “Labyrinth”, and “Dear Reader”. Overall rating: 8.5/10

I love the album! Totally adore every single song on it. The song which stands out the most is The great war. ( Might be one of my favs ever). I love the 3am version way more than the original, i think it adds a lot more value to the album. Anyways out of the og, yoyo kid caught me off guard coz i didn't like the title name but the song hit so deep i died dead. I love that the tracks sound so much like a blend of her previous albums but not any one era to be specific, which shows taylor swift as a sound. Would've could've should've grows on me everytime i listen and might surpass to be my fav song on the album. There's no song I hate, so i rate this 8.9/10
However on the first listen i rated it around 7.5 but it def is a grower

Hello everyone!!! Listening to Midnights for the first time was a great experience! Staying up until 3am for the announcement and ending up listening to bonus tracks instead of going to sleep was particularly memorable lol. I’m super happy that Tay has returned to pop! I think the sound of the album is pretty distinct and cohesive. After my first listen, there aren’t any standout favourites or least favourites. Although I have to say that Vigilante Shit had me SHOOK. In comparison to her other albums, it’s too chill to be considered a favourite for my personal taste. It’s rlly cool to hear pop music from Tay that predominantly incorporates emotional and detailed lyrics. I also love how there are also so many intricate details in the production. The amount of songs is a little overwhelming for me atm, especially due to the surprise release of the bonus tracks, but it’s so awesome to be getting so much Tay content! I’m super excited to listen to Midnights a second time and hear what everybody else thinks about the album and its many songs! 💙midnights

midnights is an album with a new feeling. i didn’t expect this production but I think it makes sense for the overall vibe of the album. lavender haze is by far my favorite, and it definitely lived up to my expectations as it was the one I was looking forward to the most :))

Midnights is an album I think will grow on me! I wish Lana had a longer feature because I thought her part would be more of a duet like the Bon Iver collab :,(( Need to process the album more but so far my favs are maroon and the Great War at the moment! just a lot to process tbh with so much songs and content in general but I am excited to listen to it more in detail! Jack’s production never misses tbh

Midnight's was very good but not what I expected !! there was lots of pop and it was suprisingly happy, whereas I expected it to be similar to folklore/evermore and about sad breakups. lavender haze was definitely the biggest shock as I expected it to be one of the calmer songs like sweet nothing (unfortunately I don't like it as much as the other songs haha). The bonus tracks are so good ??? and a lot better than the original tracks I think. my favourite songs are maroon (grown up red which is my second fav song ) and Paris <3 The anti hero was iconic and definitely not what I expected to be either. I loved the playfulness of it, almost like a skit

im very excited to learn all of them and sing + perform it with my friends !!

I loved Midnights from the first listen! I'm so glad this album is really different from the folkmore era cuz I just realised how much I needed something different 😂 Surprisingly, the songs which I least expected to like turned out to be my favs: Maroon and Midnight Rain. Although I was a little disappointed that Lana didn't actually have anything to sing in Snow On The Beach except backing vocals, it's still one of my favs on the album (it's too beautiful I can't even-) The chaotic surprise really was the death of me omg, she made me cry with that shit 😭 But in my opinion, those songs just made the album sooo much better and I'm so glad we got them. My favs from the 3am tracks are probably Paris and Would've, Could've, Should've tayadmire

This album was a beautiful rollercoaster 🥺 i was very excited and it definitely didn't disappoint, especially after i heard the 3am version. There is wonderful fusion of 1989, rep and some elements of lover. During my first listen I wasn't immediately very impressed but it takes few listens for me to get into any album and it grew on me significantly. The bonus tracks were a wonderful addition and i can't stop listening to would've could've should've, it is a lyrical masterpiece along with the great war. Taylor you have done it again! midnights
