Examples of probably AI usage in item descriptions:

1. Patio table described as "perfect companion for your patio". Clarifies it can be used anywhere. Tells you that it has colors that you can choose from...like, yeah, I sure hope it does. Complete nothing description, from a series known for having item descriptions that at least try to have fun.

2. This one just cuts off in the middle. "The perfect blend of good taste"...and...what?

3. Transform your space. Add a touch of whatever to your space. And this one also clarifies it can go in any room, which is weird. "It offers a blank and a blank for your decor" is like, nothing. It's not flavor, it's just...nothing.

4. Another "transform your blank into blank" format. The last sentence is the first sign of life in any of these examples.

Comparison of a flagrantly crappy or AI description and a more standard Sims-style description

This one is egregious. Someone either wrote this with AI, or asked AI to help. It hits so many generic markers that many other items in this pack do. "perfect blend" "luxury and style" "transform/elevate/whatever your space".

More examples of "actual, real sims descriptions"- this is how descriptions should be, and usually are

But this stuff isn't real. A human did not write this. There is no way a human wrote this. You cannot tell me someone got paid to slap "The perfect piece to elevate and transform any space into a cozy whatever" on a bunch of items. t's possible that these are just written by their designers sometimes and some of the designers are not creative at all. Maybe. But like. Use the writers to write stuff, if that's the case. I really feel like EBN was plagued with AI-sounding text, because the series is KNOWN for these descriptions!

There ARE normal item descriptions, too, and there's good ones. But a LOT of the descriptions in R&L read like an LLM wrote them, or someone with no skill in writing. As you go back in time through packs, this just doesn't happen. EBN suffered a lot too. I think it was the first pack where I thought "Are these real descriptions?"

This is a classic item description. This is wonderful.

Here are examples of flagrantly inhuman descriptions from Enchanted By Nature-

Two of these are egregious.

1. The bookshelf- Perfect for "immersing yourself in a world of stories"?
2. The fairy house- It's titled "Bell Abode" and refers to itself as "This bell abode decoration". That's an LLM not undrestanding what it's doing, that's not a human-written description of an item.

If The Sims team wants someone to write item descriptions for them I will gladly give them a unique description for every item. I will make callbacks across items that are similar or in the same set. I will make jokes like that "those you 15-love" bit from the tennis racket coded chair. I will flourish the heck out of these items. But they are clearly letting either incompetent writers or an LLM write things for them and it is depressing.

"Secure Bath- Nobles like a Roman (roaming) bath, but you prefer one that stays put". That is fun. That is real.

"Enhance your ambiance with this candle stand. It has a hint of reserved beauty." That is horrible.

And even if it's not AI, it's still a knock against the game's writing quality. Somebody got hired at some point who simply cannot handle the job and nobody who vets the items and their text seems to care. Either is bad.

Strangely, the non-english versions are reportedly better, as if the translators did their own spin. I have been provided a few german translations and they're generally similar but do make more sense. The "can beauty bloom in more than my hall?" one is instead "Mirror, mirror on the wall, where blooms the fairest bud of all?" and the "Immersing yourself in a world of stories" one is "perfect for immersing yourself in fairytales.", both of which make SIGNIFICANTLY more sense and read more like a human being actually cared about what was happening.

im not gonna be a jerk and tag someone on the team but I'd LOVE to get a confirmation whether or not the sims team has resorted to using LLMs to write item descriptions. I believe Steam requires games to disclose AI usage and the steam pages dont say there's any (I can imagine there'd be incredible outrage if they did) but man these gotta be made by an unfeeling robot trained on furniture magazines.

The old laptop had an Intel card and the new one is a Realtek

Go into your device manager, find your wifi adapter, right click it and go to properties. Check the power management tab. If checked, uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

Actually unchecking mine right now after I swear I turned it off. Update must've re-enabled it I guess

your saves and gallery files wont be in this 'new' folder we have made. so you can go to the 'saves' and 'tray' folder in the OLD folder and move those into the new folder

then, to test mods, download a FRESH copy of mccc and test if its working in your game to verify script mods are working

yes just delete the file! itll automatically regenerate.
deleting it clears 'old bits' of past mods, so you can give your game a fresh restart without having leftovers from potentially broken mods. it helps us test better!
