Switching from Steam on Windows PC to EA App on Mac

There is no Steam version of Sims 4 for Mac. All DLC purchased through Steam will need to be repurchased and installed via Origin. You will also need to unlink your EA and Steam accounts or create a new EA account. Ongoing thread here

Sims 4 and DirectX 11

As of today's patch (May 28, version 1.107), Sims 4 now supports DirectX 11 (Windows only). This feature is currently opt-in only; if you do nothing, the game will continue to use DirectX 9 as it always has.

Edit: DirectX 11 is now the default for machines with Nvidia and AMD GPUs, but DirectX 9 is an option in the graphics settings.

Error message: "The requested operation requires elevation."

This is caused by setting the executable (TS4_x64.exe for DX11) to automatically run with admin privileges. Please use this thread for further help:

Error message: "There's a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall your game."

This is usually associated with Windows 7 and/or a very old graphics driver. Please try updating your driver first.
If that doesn't help, force the game to open in DirectX 9 mode.

If you can't load a household and are instead sent back to the world select screen

Remove your Mods folder and test again. Many mods broke with today's (Aug 19) update.

If that doesn't help, repair the game (EA App > Sims 4 > Manage > Repair OR Steam > Sims 4 > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of the game files).
The effects of some mods, BBB in particular, can linger even after their removal, but a repair will revert the game to its unmodded state.

Reintroducing the problem mods will reintroduce the problem.

Apparent missing content from the Gallery/Library

The Gallery is currently sorting results by popularity by default, which means your own creations may be buried and seem to have disappeared. Sort by newest, or use the creator or hashtag sorting feature instead.
