Would it be okay to add each individual game included in the UFO 50 collection of games? I'm only asking since I've added bundles of games in the past and sometimes they get approved and sometimes they get denied, so I just want to get an confirmation that I can add them before I start making submissions.

Though I read this game bundle as being just a game which has 50 smaller specific games solely inside it

#

It's like wario ware but larger games

silk cave
#

it includes games that are supposedly up to 60 hours long

#

most of them are nes style where you can spend a few hours in them. others are a few minutes.

#

it’s comparable to rare replay

merry depot
#

But are the games released standalone? Rare replay contains previously released games that's a difference

pale osprey
#

I don't think it matters where they were released separately or not

#

considering Kirby's Adventure and things like that

merry depot
#

Fair enough

pale osprey
#

also Action 52

solar kestrel
#

I was just about to check that

#

Because UFO 50 is currently listed as a game and not as a bundle

#

I was wondering if there were already discussions on changing that over here

merry depot
# pale osprey also Action 52

Then by all means if the game which acts as a bundle will have the games as separate entries if they're big enough

solar kestrel
#

Considering Kirby Super Star's treatment and stuff

merry depot
#

I mean ok Action 52 games aren't considered 'big' by a stretch but 😂

solar kestrel
#

I mean, I've played a few of them

#

And some of those have like

#

Whole campaigns

#

Some are more arcadey and stuff

pale osprey
#

but we have all 52 games listed separately

solar kestrel
#

But I do think they should be listed as separate games

pale osprey
#

actually 100 or smth considering the Genesis version

solar kestrel
#

Well, context matters

pale osprey
#

yeyeye

solar kestrel
#

At least that's how I see it for Action 52

pale osprey
#

i agree we should have separate pages for games on UFO 50 in the same sense we had for other previous games in the same situation

#

just highly recommend stating that in the comments

merry depot
#

Consistency is the key here, I wasn't fully aware if we hammered down this type of bundle games or we had exceptions, but I guess this is the approach

silk cave
#

i’ll probably start adding them when i get the time if anybody wants to help

I've just submitted pages on games 1-5

#

Probably going to do more if I have the time

I added the few I've played. 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 40, 42 & 47. also hi everyone, my first post on the discord 🙂

Made a few covers. Started entries for 8, 26, 28 & 38 and put them in the bundle.

rotund atlas
#

i added ingame descriptions for all the ones mentioned and a few more genres for some of them

solar kestrel
#

I added some missing ones yesterdays as well

rotund atlas
#

theres just 4 more games that need to be added. im trying to find where it is you attach them as a part of ufo 50

#

oh you gotta add it through ufo 50 not the specific entry

merry depot
terse sluice
#

sweet, that's all of them then 🙂 I saw the first set was accepted

solar kestrel
#

Yeah, a few of them got accepted

#

But hey

#

Won't it be cool if UFO 50 releases on like

#

Playstation or the Switch

#

And then all entries have to updated, all 51 of them 🤡

#

lmao

merry depot
#

Don't have to have platform on the individual entries, the bundle itself should be enough

#

Since the games aren't sold separately

solar kestrel
#

Fair enough

sorry to revive this topic but how is this different than say, every single sport from wii sports having a separate entry?

lilac dagger
#

Wii Sports is more like a concise collection of sport events. They are never called different games anywhere, the whole collection of sports is a game. If I recall correctly, they're called "events".

#

An edge case is Kirby Superstar, its games are related, they have a progression, but they're considered as different entities by some other factors, like having a complete story, ending screen, different mechanics, they all are selected in a menu with the logos of the games, etc.

jagged rover
#

if that's the parameters for this topic then i'll to bring another example: community made gamemodes on Fortnite/Roblox/Dota 2/etc

They are independent from one another and the base game, different menus with different choices, and all are seen as alternative gamemodes rather than part of the base experience

#

also in regard to the kirby suerstar example, they have different mechanics and different icons on the community tab

#

i was told in the past that the reason IGDB wouldnt accept them was because they werent able to be played outside of the games they were in, but so are the UFO 50 games

pale osprey
jagged rover
#

Could you elaborate on whats wrong with user generated given how fan-made content is allowed

pale osprey
jagged rover
pale osprey
jagged rover
#

I'll try to rephrase

#

IGDB considers community-made game modes as covered by the associated main game

#

UFO 50 doesn't allow you to play its minigames without needing to download UFO 50

#

I am asking, how is this different than community made game modes

jagged rover
earnest blade
#

@jagged rover Is there a specific reason you are asking?

jagged rover
#

the reason is that the way i see it is a database inconsistency

jagged rover
#

i do not appreciate being asked if i have ulterior motives

earnest blade
#

Nobody is attacking you. It helps to know if there is a specific game example that way we can look at seeing why that would or wouldn't fit for this use case.

jagged rover
pale osprey
#

D mentioned about those factors, which are true, but it mainly comes down on how they're shown on the game itself

jagged rover
#

in this particular example theres no "official" way to play and the alternate gamemodes not only have differences in their gameplay but are also distributed officially and not user published

#

what i am to understand with the guidelines is that they dont follow the "Bonus Games" ruling which could be applied to say, seasonal limited time events and such which are specifically designed to be an addendum to the intended experience

pale osprey
jagged rover
#

What would define a game as a platform/engine? Im unsure if thats explained on the guidelines

pale osprey
#

something like Roblox, Kogama, Habbo, Dreams, Super Mario Maker are gaming platforms in some way or the other

#

something like UFO 50 wouldn't be a gaming platform because they're a one-and-done project (or rather projects), it wouldn't fit as Bonus Games because they aren't hidden in some place of the game as an easter egg from the main, unrelated experience like the examples listed, they're thrown right there in the main menu for you to select and play.

jagged rover
#

Also, what if ufo 50 updates to release something which allows users to create their own games inside of it

pale osprey
#

because they can installed separately

pale osprey
jagged rover
# pale osprey because they can installed separately

just to make I got this right, what fundamentally changes a mod from a usermade creation is that:

  • it cant be made using ingame editor features
  • has to be installed externally

Is there some other parameter that im missing?
