As described - using "Linux App Launcher" to launch Steam results in a variety of games not launching properly (including Hades, Hades 2, Doom: The Dark Ages, Octopath Traveler 2).

Launching steam via command line (/usr/bin/steam) or via the Application Launcher in Fedora KDE Plasma seems to function normally (games can launch).

is it doing it via the desktop file? There's a bug in Steam's desktop file

I can confirm when I get home, but from what I remember, the details of the Linux App Launcher button say it's running /usr/bin/steam %U. I don't know if that's the desktop file.

So I found https://www.reddit.com/r/Fedora/comments/1nf4gdn/is_anyone_having_a_problem_with_steam_not/ - which suggests removing PrefersNonDefaultGPU and X-KDE-RunOnDiscreteGpu from the /usr/share/applications/steam.desktop file. I did so, launched Steam from my streamdeck, and tried launching one of the faulty games (Hades) - the issue still replicates, where the steam button changes from "Play" to "Stop", but then changes back to "Play" without launching anything

Is there a different fix to apply to steam.desktop?

@pine condor Can't repro. Tried KSP, PCBS, Civ VI, TABS, Bopl Battle and Goat Simulator and they all launched fine.

Is there any kind of extra logging I can enable and/or provide to help track down the issue?

I updated to v2.9.1 via opendeck-2.9.1-1.x86_64.rpm and can no longer reproduce.

¯_(ツ)_/¯
