I have a rapid build for her, it makes her crazy fast and I love it. I was literally running circles around people. Heck I'm keeping close to an iida with recipro turbo activated just by alpha gliding and I wasn't even using Kendo's fastest method of travel. I had to have other people confirm it because from the pov of me it doesn't look a lot faster but at the sametime its noticable, but apparently I was just zooming around without speed cards

Hi, lurker here, i just got Embrittlement and i hope it's worth it. Sadly there's no slot for Ochako in this costume, she looks good/fun.
I'll probably add Toga in the other special slot, +100 HP for a Down looks good and AFO is useless as a special. 3 extra HP is not much but it's better than faster SA after a Down.

I still play her the same way I did before the nerfs. Take the emote "I won't give you time to plan anything" to heart, but also know when it's time to back down and play carefully.

What you mean no Kendo does this, ik I surely do it for a bit of fun and I ain't even one of the best Kendo's out there. It is rollable unless you use speed cards but most of the time you can catch people off guard with it once.

Ik a lot of the ps Kendo's do melee mix ups quite a bit too. I don't really know any Kendo's on xbox so can't confirm for there.

Dude the double tap to dodge on controller is soooo awful, I'm glad I switched off of controller in season 1. The reason PC Kendo's don't do it is because they don't exist on PC 😭 . Rotty is the only other Kendo main I've seen on PC nowadays. I'm usually the only Kendo in the lobby 9/10 times, its so god damn lonely out here.

Tbf its not that reliable to do on PC since it is much easier to dodge. I kinda mess around with it when I know its someone who isn't that good. But there's no point if they know how to dodge, tho you can predict the dodge and delay your attacks. Gamma was really weird trying to do that with the tracking it use to have but it might actually be feasable now that the gamma has less tracking.

Lmaoooo I love Kendo's play styles. She can literally be an aggressive in your face solo fighter or a more passive team player protecting your tm8s more. All up to the situation your in, tho I definitely could've been a bit better tm8 and not forget I had a team heal before it was too late no matter how hectic it was.

Embrittlement perk on Kendo is pretty good

It applies defense down on the opponent you use a melee attack against.

Also your melee attacks do like double the damage while they have this debuff

going off this as the main string, your basis

melee always tracks anything in a cone shape around kendo, so any immediate roll will automatically lose to jab1 if they panic

like so

i wouldn't typically go for a reset like this to CALL OUT a roll on layer 1 but you get the idea there

i like to make sure my opponent's established "okay, i got hit" before going for anything to throw them off

so in a real match i'd go for something like this

so when you cancel into alpha they get a painful wakeup call of "oh man i just got reset"

with that in mind, when i do the second melee, they're conditioned to think "oh shes gonna alpha again" which would lose to immediate roll

but immediate roll loses to another jab, but the better callout is clap like i used here

works all the time

i hit them so often its natural to me so i don't really clip it much anymore

off of air melee you have less changes to reset with melee, so i keep it short

if you just want to get a complete combo, air melee > jab 1 > 2 > clap is fine

but if you try AM > j1 > 2 > alpha > jab it'll drop

so you need to cut the second melee out from the start to get a reset with clap there

nothing else is really worth since even alpha will cause the combo to fatigue (her rocks CAN cause a knockdown contrary to popular belief it just doesn't happen under normal scenarios)

cuz it forces you to win another interaction after they wake up

the #1 rule is to not go for stuff like this frequently if they're on GP

you have far less time to do anything let alone reset them more than once due to them having a shorter stun animation

that's why i mainly do them post-guardbreak or full on flesh

Hey guys I’m just curious I’ve been playing kendo and a lot off attacks have been getting through her shield even when it’s maxed out now I’m just wondering does it work like a shield that reduces the damage ur take or does it completely stop the damage because there’s been a phew times where I’ve been on like 50 health and I’ve put the shield up and a attack has killed me does it also not block mele

The way the shield works is that it has its own Hitbox that triggers a clank effect if any other hitboxes come in contact with it.

This means it can nullify projectiles, but the clank itself comes into play whenever you block a Melee Attack like Iida's Alpha.

The issue with that is that this is not a full on 360 shield. Your Hurtbox still exists behind it, meaning that you can still be hit through it (Which is why running up to her and using Basic Attacks is a common counter strategy).

If a Melee Attack like say, Iida's Beta has a Big Enough Hitbox, it ends up hitting both Kendo AND the Shield's Hitbox, meaning that you end up clanking them but still getting hit

This is also why Ibara is one of the few characters that can pierce through it the most consistently, since she puts Stationary Hitboxes all around that pass through them, one of the Hitboxes ends up hitting Kendo and thus "Piercing"

nah

i used to do G4 > A9 with kendo before the nerfs but now i would say to max gamma first

clap is basically our main damage dealer now

so i always do G4 A4 G9

and then B4 A9 or whatever you want

but i always max gamma before any other skills

if you wanna capitalize even harder on gamma, there’s a mask off default build i can share

with embrittlement you can do like 210 with 1 clap

plus higher reload for an already fast-reloading skill

that’s the one nice thing about kendo still

they took some of her damage but she still has very generous cooldowns other than when her shield is broken

It really depends on what kind of build you want and your playstyle for her. Her casual wear will probably be the better costume tunings tho more expensive.

My question is why do you have the Reinforced Revive on your Kendo? That's mainly for Rapids and Insta-rez characters. Unless you're that good at saving your teammates as Kendo.

Its so clutch, Kendo can take some hits so if you can get the rez off perfectly it can definitely change the tides.

Aka don't spam gamma to get away from a Kendo as rapid toga, the delay her gamma has makes it mad easy to catch wakeups

Take your time and use your iframes, panicking and spamming your wakeup gives Kendo a free 3 clap wakeup ko combo for most characters

Yeah messing around a bit aside rapid toga's are really annoying to deal with but the shield helps immensely against her, shes 2nd place for biggest potential threat imo. When they hit your shield directly on it should block them but if they hit the ground right in front of your shield the splash damage might go through it. It could be the fact that you have a little bit of room at the bottom of your shield for it to slip through, so maybe try making sure you aim down just slightly enough so your shield leaves no openings underneath it.

if that was a rapid bakugo and your consistent with your melee timings, he ain't doin shi without a rapid card enabled. His gamma is slower than a perfectly timed melee cancel so you would just cancel out his gamma anyways.

Maybe if he has a rapid tm8 but I'm not sure if the team passive counts towards animation speed or if its only traveling speed

alpha level 4
gamma to level 4.
Depending on the number of alters you have, either increase beta to level 4 or alpha to level 9.
After raising alpha to level 9,
increase gamma to level 9
Finally, raise beta to level 9

Personally, the only characters I struggle with and can’t defeat on my own are Cementos and Speed Bakugo, but if you stick with your teammates, you can beat them.

Honestly sometimes that's the only way to really deal with meta characters. It's Kendo's best way to overwhelm these high damage characters. Now you can add in melee combos maybe a few alphas when you feel comfortable doing it, but you gotta make you own openings and be aware of your own openings these can cause. That's why the shield is so clutch imo, you can cover your openings while being able to force one on your opponents.

Sometimes you will definitely experience laggy parries or things goin through your shield and thats just either the server taking a dump or someone has not very good ping at the time. But some of it could be the fact that you aren't bringing up your shield quick enough. There's a little time where you see the visual of the entire shield pop up but its still not fully deployed. In this time the shield won't function properly until it is fully deployed. I think it may give a slight defense buff if you take a hit but I haven't really tested that to actually figure out if its true so don't quote me on that one. I always try to make sure I give myself enough time to get my shield fully deployed before the opponent uses their ability.

That window is a small window but it's still punishable.

I just think it's nice to have increased attack on both of Kendo's most important moves. That's just my opinion.

Honestly for my fighting style I like to break shield as quick as I can, I'm not a very alpha focused Kendo. I'm much more melee combo focused and having their guard broken is what allows me to lift them up into the air with air melee for guaranteed melee-gamma combos. Plus I think her alpha damage is pretty solid still.

I do put in my alphas at the end of melee combos and use alpha gliding to close down on opponents but incorporating alphas into your melee combos give higher skilled opponents plenty of time unless you do it absolutely perfect with a speed card.

That mobility is their crutch and I had the same exact problem back in season 2 when I started learning Kendo, I found that I was awful because I couldn't just runaway from my fights. Playing a low mobility character helps to refine your game sense, but the biggest thing that helped me is learning to handle fights on my own in solos. I played solos a lot to practice every bit of my 2 mains as I could. Heck this kendo movement stuff I only really started trying to figure out maybe 4 months ago.

My biggest suggestion is definitely go into solos and practice in it to the point where you can confidently win one on one with any character. I always remember from the show that even tho teamwork is very important, being able to handle yourself alone in most situations is even more important in the world of quirks. Basically I practice solos so I can win one on one at anytime against any character with Tsu and Kendo then put those skills to work in a team environment like trios.

It makes you move a bit faster, makes you harder to hit and you can even time the shield to parry abilities perfectly with practice. I like to use it when I know my melees are just gonna get me killed like in this 1v2. It's also great for closing the distance between you and your opponent quickly for a melee combo.

I don't know the exact specifics since I don't really watch mhur youtube content but I've heard Metsu has tutorials for Kendo on youtube. You can also watch his gameplay and learn that way, thats how I learned a lot of the characters I play especially my mains. Just look at his mechanics and think about the best way you can implement it into your playstyle.

Yeah thats useful too, I had my own little course set up on UA Island for practicing this. As for the jump pad tech peep this for an explanation and example of how its done. It's a slight bit nerfed since this was pre rapid card nerf but that just means it widens the gap between how useful it is for most characters and kendo being the one who can get the most out of it because of her air melee.

Or try and attack them faster than they can start building to their advantage

I try not to give them anytime to alpha by getting claps off repeatedly as soon as their iframes disappear. You want to get in their face as long as you have claps because you will deliver more damage than he can deliver to you as long as your timing is on point.

If you trust yourself to avoid their alpha you can air melee into their wake up but it's riskier

But by the time you use an air melee he should be guard broken and trying to get tf away from ya 🤣

Which is exactly where you want him

You 100% want to catch them by surprise and obliterate them as quick as you can. Intimidation goes a long way to making your opponents make mistakes, and I ain't talkin about toxic emoting on them (don't do that even if they do it to you, be strong!) When they fear ya, they play perfectly into your hands a lot of the time. Take her sayin "I won't give you time to plan anything" quite literally and strike fear into their hearts on sight.

We are 17th currently but that's with around 15 members coming into the agency partway through the season. We are in plus ultra league as well as max level and have a discord for communication. I think they nerfed it initially because they were worried about her damage output being too powerful with T.U.N.I.N.G. Let's be fair, with the right build, Kendo would he doing 150+ per Alpha at Lvl 9.

Bias aside I think Kendo need to be tuned down a bit since she does a little too much damage

She can do constant 200 damage now so that’s were I draw the line

She definitely will most likely get nerfed in the next patch since I have the feeling a lot of people will start complaining about her dps so yeah

Wanted to share my thoughts about this after witnessing her buffs

I want to see what you guys think, does she need a bit of a damage nerf?

One more thing, I think that more people are going to start playing her but for the wrong reason which is spamming 1 button and not investing their time on learning combos. Both Alpha and Gamma to a lot of damage to the point where you can just be brain dead and I don’t want her to be a one button brain dead character

only if literally everyone else in the game gets toned down. the issue with my hero is that it's primarily a team based game with very little team based elements imo. 1 character alone can melt but add 2 more on top of that? if the game rewarded more careful plays and a lot more interesting engagements between players, then 100% the dmg should be toned down to allow for those kinds of moments to happen.

kendo doing "too much damage" imo deserves to be a thing if that's really all she has going for her

not only does everyone else do tons of damage, but they ALSO have top tier or just flat out better mobility than kendo

so if everyone else can zip around at the press of 1 button while also still destroying lobbies, kendo deserves to have that edge up in close range engagements in order to secure ko's

just for us to move around, we gotta break our fingers, alpha glide, wall jump claps, ledge boost, etc

no other character needs to do all that lmao

the other big issue is that when it comes to these topics, people tend to often not take everything into consideration
